I was very clear with the receptionist about what I needed when I scheduled the appointment. I arrived a few minutes early and was told Emma was running half an hour late. When she finally came to fetch me she asked me what she could do for me. I told her. She said, "I don't cut short hair. My specialty is long hair." What kind of stylist can't cut short hair? She agreed to color it and tried to book me for the following week for a trim - with another stylist. I don't want to wait another week for a trim! The color she put on my hair was so dark it's almost black and does not match the color I already had. Guess I will have to start all over again from scratch. It's so very, very upsetting and disappointing.

I no longer live as close to Ventura as I did before, however I will still make the long drive to get my hair cut by my girl Angie. It's crazy to think how long we've known each other now and I will say she is probably the only person in this world I trust with my hair. Kia is a Vivid Hair Specialist who has transformed my hair from its natural brown to teal, then pink with extensions, and now purple with a silver money piece! She's super sweet, and she's always been very realistic with me about what kind of maintenance certain colors or cuts need. (Despite how it may seem, I like low maintenance even though I still want fun colors.) For the time and service she provides, her rates are very reasonable. I've looked forward to every visit with her, and I feel like my self-confidence has grown not just because of my beautiful hair but also because of her positive and empowering outlook! Ariel is an amazing nail artist! I was never one to get my nails done regularly (low maintenance, like I wrote), but when I was getting my hair done, I'd see Kia's nails (always done by Ariel), and they were literally fantastic. So I gave it a whirl and got some fancy nails for a business trip. And then I asked for some fun nails for a wedding. The more I visited the salon, the more I enjoyed the ladies that worked there and the energy that I felt, and the more I wanted to come back. Now I come every 4 weeks for Ariel to do my nails. Each time I come with an idea or inspiration from Instagram, and Ariel makes magic. She's a true artist! I've never had her repeat a design in the nearly 2 years I've been going, and she's never once told me she wasn't capable of doing something I asked for. Even when I've arrived late (more often than I care to admit), she's been wonderfully kind and patient with me. Between these two wonderful ladies, I feel more beautiful and feminine than ever. I truly feel like they're my friends, and I'm so grateful to have found them and that I get to benefit from their expertise.

You know how it is when you find the person that gets the color right?! Really big deal for me, esp b/c I'm part Irish and tend to pull red! There's nothing worse than paying top dollar and end up disappointed and back to square one!! I kept putting it off until I was so grown out I forced myself to deal with it! So I typed in "best hair colorist" and Vanessa at Salon 1550 was one of the first to pop up. I started reading the reviews and they were all great!! Of course I started to doubt..."she sounds too good to be true", "she probably isn't taking any new clients"?! Yada, yada! So once again another week went by... I'd finally just called and she called me back promptly! I was very excited to get an appt for a couple days later and not only was she super cool, kind and genuine, she got my color RIGHT!! YES!!!
