I was in this shopping center getting a massage on a Tuesday morning . I saw this place on the way into the massage and thought that noodles sounded great after a massage. It turns out a thunderstorm rolled in while I was getting my massage so it definitely was a great time to stop and have some lunch. I changed my mind and instead of a noodle dish I decided to get pho, since it sounded perfect on this day. It really hit the spot and a small was still more than enough. Great flavor and nice and hot. I was surprised I was the only one there on a Tuesday lunch. The prices are on the higher side, compared to the south area restaurants, but they have an extensive menu and so much closer. If you're looking for something particular they probably have it here. They also have fruit shakes which I will have to come back to try since I was too full. I especially was excited to see Durian shakes which are my favorite. I gotta say first time trying PHO the broth is amazing tastes like homemade. AND my mouth is not dry afterwards. That's how a pho broth should be IMO. I give it 4.5/5 only because I would love to see more condiments like pickle jalapeño or chili oil. I actually give this place 3.5 stars. Coming upon it as a whim choice, without knowing anything about it, it proved to be just OK. On my way to am event, I found it on Google maps and thought I'd give it a try. This is the land of a multitude of medium to low-level chain restaurants. Sorry for being snobby, but KFC is predominant, and independent one-off restaurants are mainly Mexican and Southeast Asian. In an unassuming strip mall, this place is clean and pleasant enough, yet slightly dated too. You have to overlook the worn and damaged chair legs and storage boxes in the dining area, but, hey, it could be a lot worse. We came at an off time, 3pm, and were the only patrons. Another arrived sometime after. The kindly gentleman who waited on us, along with a woman, were the absolute best. Very cordial, helpful, and wanting to please, however possible. He kept apologizing about the lack of staff and yet did all he could to make the meal enjoyable. The menu is beyond extensive, and one wonders how they can manage to keep so many items in a small restaurant. It is basically a Vietnamese establishment, but the menu broadly covers a lot of ground beyond it. I ordered the crispy (deep-fried) noodles with tofu as the 'protein' option. My better half got the chow fun noodle dish and had an iced tea. I had the Thai Tea (I was politely corrected that it is NOT Thai Iced Tea! And, they did not have the bobo as described, which was just fine.) The service is indeed slow, and we were told that when getting seated. That was not an issue as we had a lot of time before our event anyway. The portions were ENORMOUS! They are platter sized and obviously intended for sharing with several. My dish was good, a bit bland, which I spiced up with the sauce provided, and it is considered a vegetarian option. There was nothing very unique or interesting about it, yet good. It had the usual onion, carrot, broccoli, baby corn and celery combination. I found the crispy noodles very difficult, both to break down or get softened some. I tasted the chow fun, and the noodles were excellent. Overall, it was an OK experience. I left thinking that I really want a place like it to succeed. We need these mom and pop one-off restaurants, and the more we patronize, the better they can become. read more

My sister was visiting froM Los Angeles, and after a day of snacking on a lot of food throughout the day, she said she wanted "soup." She has only had Pho once before (she lives near Sawtelle BLVD, in So. Cal, which has a. lot of Japanese food influence) so this seemed like a good choice. We each ordered the chicken, broccoli, and tofu pho, small size. I have a 3 to 3.5 rating, as though a small, this was like the equivalent of a kid's size, in terms of food. While the broth was flavorful, I had two pieces of broccoli, three pieces of chicken, and a big bowl of rice noodles. Had there been more broccoli and/or chicken in the soup, the rating may be higher. My sister said, for a second time at pho, was just perfect for her. They were near closing, and they were very polite, so good service. I am not really living in Citrus Heights at the moment, so I don't know if I'll ever return, but this may be in the "if a friend suggests it, I'll happily go, but not sure I'd recommend it." read more

The menu has plenty to choose from, portions are small on the higher price too. We order a -1combination beef pho-medium $16.95 was lacking the meat and heavier on the noodles, was more of a small. -2x grilled pork, Chinese sausage and egg comes with rice plate. The grilled pork was extremely thin and was less then a serving portion as for the sausage was honestly 4 little slice/circles $18.50 each, there was honestly more rice and side salad then the actual protein. -3 crispy egg rolls for $12 -2 cans of soda $5 out total was $77. So at the end of all of this we are still hungry and we will not return. read more

I haven't had good Pho in a long time. A friend introduced me to Pho when I worked in Natomas but I live near Noodle House and haven't returned to the office. I've tried the alphabet place nearby but wasn't a fan. I didn't even know this place was here. I went in around 6:30 on a Saturday evening and there was no one dining in. It made me nervous. Tables were clean. The man working came out and was so kind and welcoming. I could tell he really appreciated my presence. I ordered the medium size #53 and asked to add jalapeños. He said about 10 minutes and that was accurate. Even when I paid he was just so kind. I don't know how to explain it. He was just genuine. I ordered to go. When I got home it smelled so good. The broth isn't heavy but loaded with flavor. The portions are as I would have expected. The medium would be enough to serve 2 people. I have a new favorite Pho place! I know some reviewers commented on cost. But everything is so expensive these days. And this food is quality so it's definitely worth it to me. read more

I wanted something different and I didn't want to search the next morning. So I went on Grubhub and found Noodle House. I schedule my order first thing in the morning. My order was prepared and delivered to me via GrubHub in the time parameters I had set... I was truly disappointed in my order. The food arrived lukewarm at best. And the restaurant is only about 4 miles away or 15 minute drive. It should not have arrived at that temperature. I ordered Vietnamese style Mongolian beef, a Vietnamese sandwich, fresh shrimp rolls, and beef soup with rare beef. It is really not recommended to order beef soup or any soup from any Vietnamese restaurant to go or to have it delivered it is always a big process and many containers... my soup container arrived at best lukewarm. Plus it was a big hassle just trying to take the lid off of the container. And in this instance there was not a big serving for what they gave me. It was a poor value for what I spent on this item. My order of Mongolian beef was small plus they did not give me any rice to put it on top. My Vietnamese sandwich, as seen in the picture was more bread than filling... The bread was three times the amount as to the actual ingredients. I have had a much better sandwich in Florida than from this location... and this is probably the first time I have ever said anything possibly good in Florida. I I also got fresh shrimp rolls..I got four pieces of shrimp rolls with two shrimp per roll. Also one small container of peanut sauce. After dipping roll into the sauce of , I should've at lease received an additional container of sauce... Another note the containers were not properly secured. One container all of the juices from the entrée poured out and was collected into the plastic bag I had to actually unload it in the sink to try not to make a big mess but that was unsuccessful... My wife and I came here to try this place finally and let me tell yall. We had the 6B (cream cheese wontons) and the 36 (beef and shrimp vermicelli noodle salad) and they were both delicious. The sauce that came with the wontons were fire! Like a sweet and sour plus spicy chili oil. The wontons themselves were very light and delightful crisp crunch. So good. My wife says "number 36 will change your life". The beef was cut nice and fine so you didn't have to chew up a bunch of beef. Plenty to go through each bite. They were very quick with serving us and getting our order in and out. Pretty slow on the Sunday evening we came out, but that won't stop us again from coming back out. I recently came to Noodle House with one of my friends who was just discharged from the ER. She wanted noodles so we decided to come here since it was on the way back to her house. To start, there was only one other table eating in there, as they had just opened less than an hour prior. A couple more tables came in while we were eating so they have a decent amount of customers coming in. Staff is very friendly and I have nothing negative to say about that part. Building is fairly clean, there was a small spot of noodles on the ground though. The menu is fairly extensive with a lot of different options to choose from. What I really appreciated was their pictures. Some of the food items had pictures of the food right next to it. Usually restaurant pictures on the menu are all grainy or bad quality, but Noodle House did it right. I was looking at the pictures at other items I probably wouldn't have considered, purely because they looked so good. I ordered the fried rice and a side order of chow mein. I thought I'd keep it simple as I wasn't super hungry. What I didn't expect however, was for the food to be such massive portions. I ate a ton of the fried rice, and I was still able to fill an entire takeout box with the leftovers. Even the side dish of chow mein was a large enough portion. Their food is fairly simple too. It's not a lot of really strong flavors hitting you, just simple light flavor. When we were there eating, I thought the food was ok, not a whole lot of flavor, but decent because of the portions. However, when I went home and started eating the leftovers, the flavor was so much stronger. It's like since I had it sit in the fridge for 2 hours it brought out all the flavor I was wanting back at the restaurant. I would definitely go back to try some of the other dishes. I recommend giving it a chance if you are in the mood to try something new. read more

Service was great, place was clean, but food was hit or miss. Some of our party had pho and some of our party had rice plates. The pho was good portioned because it was mainly noodles. My husband said his duck pho was really good and he liked the way they sliced the duck. The portions of the rice plates were sad. I've had grilled pork plates at other Vietnamese restaurants and the plates came with full pieces of pork. Here, they serve minced pieces of pork and not much of it. The other rice plate came with the minced pork and about 5 small pieces of Chinese sausage. That rice plate was $18. Not worth it. Came here yesterday with a big appetite. We were pleased that the portions were big, and that the food came out at a decent time. I love Vietnamese food, and went through a phase of only eating it for a while so I may be a bit picky with it. With that said, the food was good, flavors were good. No big complaints, but the food could definitely be a bit more fresh. Along with that, the service was good. Attentive, and helpful in recommending what we could order. My mom and I decided to try this place out since we always go to Thai Hut which is right next to this restaurant and we always saw it. Plus I love pho. So I ordered the thai tea with boba and then the #71 I think? My mom ordered a soup that was mostly seafood plus chicken, or so it said. Anyways, when I got my tea, it was extremely sweet and I still felt the sugar crystals which hadn't been stirred enough from the powder. Then my pho came out and it was just okay. The meat tasted kind of old and it was doused in pepper for some reason; I had never seen that before in all the pho places I'd been to. Then my mom's soup came out and she thought it was good until she realized there was only one shrimp in there and limited amounts of the other seafood! & the chicken was not chicken; it was turkey. We didn't really appreciate the dishonesty in the ingredients so we will not be back. The service was good, however. Our first time trying this restaurant was via delivery. While the food wasn't hit by the time it arrived, that's not the restaurant's fault and nothing from the delivery will be held against them. The broth was way over spiced, but somehow also really watered down. It smelled great but tasted gross. Be sure to request no onions if you don't normally put onions into your broth bc they are automatically in the broth otherwise. The rare steak was already cooked when we got it. Serving size for the medium was much smaller than other restaurants in the area. The pot stickers tasted exclusively of oil. The spring rolls fell apart immediately upon picking them up, and though they were ok, they, too, were spiced oddly. The shredded pork did not come with my order and instead we received beef with mixed vegetables rather than beef with asparagus. What I had ordered obviously stated clearly in English so I have no idea how there could be any confusion. We are very dissatisfied, which is the rationale for my 1 star review. First time / last time at this place. I love Vietnamese Pho. This is "NOT" the restaurant to get really great Vietnamese food. Pho Real! The #71 was "OK" good a 2 out of 5 stars which is actually a bad rating. Bland and not enough meat and vegetables. I spiced it up with chili pepper sauce, garlic chili sauce, and the plumb sauce to dip occasionally which helped a lot. The portion was small and disappointing. I ordered the Beef Chow Fun to go because I had a half off 2nd entree coupon from Savemart. When I opened it at home I noticed the platter was light. Usually I order a beef chow fun from my favorite Chinese food place and the platter is so heavy it feels like the platter is going to break. Quality- wow gross. Somehow you can mess up chow fun. It's sweet flavor old meat over cooked weird spiced out bad food. Sorry, had to change to 1 star. The service was good though. But I would take bad service for great food any day. After being here a second time, my first impressions were validated. If you would like your dinner served in a reasonable amount of time, don't eat here! The service is verrrrry slow - but on the other hand, they are very nice! I knew what to expect the second time around, so I ordered my dinner and then I did my grocery shopping next door (cheap produce two doors down). When I got back, I still had to wait another 20 minutes. The grilled port is on the thin side, not the thicker, meatier cuts that I am used to. Also, it doesn't seem grilled - more like sauteed. However the ban xeo (Vietnamese crepe) was very crispy! As far as ambiance goes, it is above average for your typical Vietnamese restaurant. But to be honest, I would forgo ambiance for better food and my time! If you are looking for good, inexpensive Vietnamese food in the same area, just drive down Manzanita towards FO Blvd to TM Noodle. Located in a strip mall on Madison and Manzanita.. The one with Lumberjack's on the corner. Closed Mondays They have a TV and they play foreign music. They have fake flowers and a small fish tank and looking around, I felt like-- The restaurant didn't need all of that. There's a fountain in one corner, flowing and the sound of the water makes me want to pee. This place can use an update. The server brightens it all up, though. She's so happy and ready to serve you. The menu is pages long with decent to good food. I wish they had hotter sauce. Sometimes I want more spice than they have on their tables.
