Cheese rangon and egg soup not included in photo

Party of 8 first timers. Two parties where there before we came on a Sunday afternoon. We liked the food we ordered. Not salty at all! Compared to saltiness that is a common thing other food place does. They have free egg soup for those who like. Looks like a one woman business. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their restroom has a signage of not useable for the public.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Otherwise, we like the taste of food. That explains online orders made to them where drivers and pick up people that kept on coming in while we were there.

Notice the front cover states, "Big portions".

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside and outside of this restaurant is ultra dated. Seeing the outside will scare anyone pulling up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The No. 1 China Express is practically next door with a clean exterior and a new modern sign.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've ordered from China Express before, so I was determined to give Wong's a try. I ordered through a link on Yelp's website thinking it was directly associated with the business and the lady owner told me to call them directly to save a few dollars. The third party website charges about 5% for ordering through them. It took me around 25 minutes to arrive and they had my order ready. I ordered chicken green beans, house eggplant, sweet and sour pork, orange chicken, broccoli beef. The prices are really reasonable and they fill the trays. Average entree was 13.00 when I'm used to seeing 16-17 dollars in other places. I'm not going to tell you everything was tasty because most dishes weren't seasoned better even though there were plenty of sauce in each dish. The batter on the sweet and sour pork, orange chicken was falling off and mushy by the time I got home. To be fair, Cantonese food tends to to be less salty, so having your own oyster or fish sauce will help save these dishes. If you like quantity over quality, this place is for you. Prices are reasonable also, so in this economy, it's time to be less picky. I will be back, remember to order by phone and save the fees.

Orange chicken chow mein and crab wontons

This is a family favorite my boyfriend has gone since he was a toddler and has taken me since before we had are toddler it's always great. My toddler always puts herself in a food coma. The orange chicken is always fresh and just perfect, the crunchy batter and soft moist chicken. My boyfriend always says you can't go wrong with wongs

So we decided to give Wong's a go.... We were seated right away and given menus. We ordered egg drop soup, potstickers, sweet and sour pork w/chow mein and broccoli chicken w/steamed rice. Everything was good. It was a bit on the pricey side when you consider the location of the restaurant and the ambiance. The menu said you get a choice of rice or noodles with the special, it doesn't say you pay extra for noodles; but you do! You also pay for hot tea. I didn't quibble, but the menu is misleading at best. I suspect we'll ge back, mainly because it's not too far out of the way when we want Chinese food. But, there are a couple of other restaurants whose food is just as good, if not better, that come in at the same price, or a little less.... This could weigh into the decision making.

(Left to right) Hong Kong style chow mien, beef chow fun, special combo #1 Hong Kong style chow mein (good crunch and sauce to the noodles, exactly what I was craving. A tier below from the best ones in San Gabriel Valley in SoCal. Beef chow fun (4.5/5) , very tender beef and good portions Special combo #1 (4/5), #1 popular dish according to Postmates. Kinda like Panda Express but better ingredients and meat choice. Panda Express don't got that BBQ pork. I ordered through postmate so can't provide anything about service or ambiance. Food was hot and fresh and nicely packaged.

Huge Portions... Great Old School Chinese/American Food. Super Friendly Service. Sooooo Delicious

Absolutely delicious hot and sour soup. Perfect balance of flavors and not too spicy (which I appreciated!).

I love doing the lunch special and I change it up between an egg roll or hot and sour soup. I stick with the general chicken or Kung pow chicken and they never let me down. This last time I got the beef fried rice/chow mein for a little up charge and it was so worth it. If you haven't tried this place you definitely should!

The hot and soup soup was all liquid. Barely anything in there. There was no bamboo shoots, pork, lotus stem and mushrooms (typically in this soup. What it did have (tofu, earwood mushroom, egg and scallions) was only a few pieces. I got 3 pieces of earwood mushroom, few trends of egg (definitely not even an single egg worth) and some tofu. Worst hot and sour soup i've had. The combo plate came with 2 fried Wonton skin, a fried dumpling, fried rice and chicken. The Wonton skin and dumpling were crispy, but nothing to rave about. There was nothing in the fried rice, but seasoning and rice. Disappointing. The chicken was the best part out of the combo. It also didn't come with any veggies. The combo Singaporean noodles was the best out of the 3 dishes I got, but that's not saying much. The curry flavor was mild and the noodles were on the softer side. Overall, a mid dish. I would not come back to this place. Definitely a skip.

04.26.26 Mama (that's me) was in the mood for some Chinese,…read moreso instead of taking hubby for a sit down spot in Roseville/Granite Bay I've been meaning to take him to, we opted for takeout close to home. We've tried several spots in the area after our typical go-to hadn't been great the last few times we ordered. So, I turned to my trusty Yelp and found Pearl House. Hubs knew exactly where it was--next door to Grocery Outlet. I thought it was closed last time we were at GC, like closed closed. So when we saw pics from 3days ago, we knew that wasn't the case. Being 7pm on a Sunday, we saw they closed at 9pm. So, looked at their menu online, we decided on our order: Hubs' go-to whenever trying a new place is General Tso's Chicken, and I tried something new-Happy Family because I was in the mood for a protein variety dish, and this had quite the variety: scallop, shrimp, calamari, crabmeat, chicken, BBQ pork, and beef with a plethora or veggies. We also wanted egg rolls. I called and a lady answered, took my order, and said it'd be ready in 10min. Didn't take my name or number-wow! Not only did I think that was kinda crazy, but TEN minutes?!?! This was either gunna blow my mind or be horrible. We drove over and upon entering there were a few people inside leaving--not sure if they were also to-go or has finished eating there. I looked around and saw many empty tables, but clean looking dining room area. A lady behind the counter wearing a face mask asked to help me. I let her know I was there to pick up, and she asked what I ordered. Our order was already boxed up ready to go. Our total? $41 before tip. I asked her if they did sit down, she confirmed yes. Then I told her it was my first time in there, to which she asked where I lived and that they've been there for 37 YEARS! Then she said she hopes we like our food and to see us again. I grabbed a to-go menu and went on my way. The food smelled good and when we got home, I grabbed my own chopsticks and hot chili oil, and was ready to grub. In the box, besides our ordered food, they included sweet & sour sauce for the egg rolls, as well as soy sauce packets and individually wrapped fortune cookies. I first went for an eggroll, which was surprisingly longer in length than most other places. Took a bite and enjoyed that wonderful crispy outside texture, and saw it was veggie only inside--whomp, whomp. In my mind, these should really be called spring rolls. However, these had some REALLY great flavor!! Hubs enjoys meat in his rolls, but after explaining the flavor, he still tried one himself and was quite happy with it. He had taken a bite of his GT Chicken and said it was pretty good. He said it tasted a little too sweet, almost dessert-y, but that it was also really good. I tried a small piece and liked how crispy it was even in all the sweet sauciness. Then I opened my dish and boy oh boy did it look good. Now before I talk about how it tasted, I need to explain what I thought I was getting. The menu said all those proteins I mentioned, and that it was tossed with snow pea pods, broccoli tips, mushrooms (which I ordered without) and baby corn. All veggies I enjoy! So, what my dish actually came with (as you can see in my pic), there was onions, carrots, celery, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, NO calamari or baby corn or BBQ pork. That all said, I was most disappointed in not having the calamari, BBQ pork or baby corn. Sad, yes. But the overall dish made up for it. With that, I was not mad AT ALL, and surprisingly ate the entire thing in one sitting--NOT a usual thing for me!! Granted, I hadn't eaten since breakfast, but still. It was DEE-LICIOUS and I'll say Dee-approved!! I'm literally writing this review immediately after eating dinner because it was THAT good y'all! I couldn't not let my people know that Pearl House is legit and it's obvious why they've been around for 37 years. This may be our new go-to spot for that neighborhood Chinese food craving, IJS. So, if you're in the area and looking for some authentic Chinese cuisine, look no further and check out Pearl House for yourself. We most definitely will be back. P.S. And them fortune cookies are good too!
