I was super disappointed today. We've been here before and the milk teas with boba were generally good and made relatively quickly. This time we ordered chicken wings (the combo with fries) and milk teas and things went sideways. The drinks were made well in advance of the food and they just sat to the side behind the counter, no one called our order out so we could get them and enjoy them. The wings took 25 minutes to make (we were the only ones in there!!) and we took them to go. When we opened up the container there were no fries. I looked at the menu and we paid for the combo. We ordered the brown sugar milk tea, Cornett bay smoothie with lychee jelly, Whidbey island smoothie, and have also had the ube milk tea, and matcha. Unfortunately we have not enjoyed any of these. I will say the boba itself is done really well but the drinks themself are just not good. I'm not sure if it's the ingredients or something else. The Cornett bay (strawberry and lychee smoothie) and Whidbey island (pineapple and coconut) tastes like they were made from some sort of powder and doesn't really resemble a smoothie at all. The menu also doesn't explain much about any of the milk tea drinks so it's hard to know what to expect out of these. I'm not sure if it's because I'm used to the seattle and Bellevue boba scene but this was not enjoyable at all for me. We went for Classic Milk teas and while they typically do add powdered mixes to the brewed black tea, we requested pure tea with half the sweetener and a splash of half & half and they were great! Brooklynn was so patient and kind while talking with me through the ordering process and making our drinks. We will be back for sure! read more

Oak Harbor finally as a boba shop! I haven't been back in 3 years and so much has changed! The old Jumbo Buffet was renovated into a beautiful space. The vibe is great, and that plant wall is refreshing. The first time I went in, they were out of boba - a 45 minute wait they said. I couldn't wait 45 minutes so I went home. Came back the next day and I ordered the taro smoothie with boba and it was DELICIOUS. It was the creamiest smoothie I have had with boba. No ice chunks, everything blended on point. Pork skewers are great! It was the highlight of the yobab meal with java rice. Java rice needed more garlic. Tasted more like sticky rice with butter. Mac salad was standard but made with shell pasta. Black sugar boba was standard, and the boba balls were chewier than usual but still good. Be warned that the bubble tea flavors are all powder so there's no actual tea or fresh fruit here. Lots of comfy chairs to sit on so I liked the ambiance. Took 25 minutes to get my food ready. The only down side is that it can get pretty pricey if you start adding everything up. The good part is that it starts at $4.99 if you just like them basic bobas/smoothie. Here is my safety issue with their building. Their exit door is quite dangerous, and my sister opened the door for me thinking it will swing longer, but it suddenly just closed on me and hit my elbow while I was trying to protect my head and drink . I got some cuts with some bleeding and after a day it did bruised. I'm not sure if it was the weight of the door it self or the way it was just built and tightened. So please for the love of boba be careful when exciting keep it open till your fully out! I do like the taro in milk tea and smoothie with their home creama (additional $1.89). I believe boba is another $.89 cents additional or something, but I do think the crystal boba is so much more chewy and some say crunchy. My cousin ordered their popular taro special called "yuji special" with the crystal boba and in the end it all add up to $10 something and she was pretty shock, but the taste was worth it. I like my taro smoothing quite the home creama. Can't wait to try the other ones. Also, if you haven't read everything the most important part is the second paragraph for your own safety. Thank the stars Oak Harbor finally has a boba spot!!! They can be a bit busy and sometimes a bit of a wait but it's worth it. Chewy boba, flavorful drinks, friendly staff. If you would have asked me before today, I would have given this place a much better review, but my recent visit has ruined this place for me. Being the only bubble tea place in Oak Harbor, it was nice to come and get it whenever I had the craving. I came in and bought two drinks with a tip. As I was leaving, the door hit my arm and I dropped one of the drinks right outside the door. Embarrassed, I picked up my cup and even cleaned up some of the spill I had made carrying the drink into the store. I figured since I JUST left and my accident was obviously apparent, I could just get my drink replaced, but to my surprise they told me that if it wasn't their "fault" they couldn't replace it. So reluctantly accepting their policy, I paid another $6 for a replacement drink and left. That so called "policy" doesn't make any sense to me and it feels like they were taking advantage of my embarrassing situation that they clearly witnessed so they could make more money. Needless to say I will not ever be coming back again. read more

There are some things that set a place apart. Customer experience is one of those that can make or break a place. When a customer orders an item and leaves and within a few minutes that order is spilled. Most places will replace the item. No, it is not the restaurant's fault nor their responsibility. However, this is their chance to shine and show what it means to have a customer and want them to return for service. In this case, the best customer service would have just been to offer to replace the french fries that had spilled on the floor. Most establishments will do this because it is above and beyond customer care. It shows the customer is important to you and you want them to enjoy your product and return to purchase again in the future. When they refused to replace my nephew's fries even though it was only a couple minutes after he bought them. I was flabbergasted. If they did not believe him, they could have just gone next door to see the store clerk cleaning up the spill or found them in the trash after being cleaned up. But the cost of replacing the fries would have been a minimal hit to their overhead and shown us that they care about us as customers. They failed to do that and instead of my nephew enjoying some fries we left with a sour taste in our mouths for this establishment. Management definitely needs to educate the employees on better customer service. Return service is far better for the profit margin than the cost of replacing one order of french fries (which probably still made them a profit if they had simply been replaced). read more

This type of business is exactly what Oak Harbor needs. This lively tea shop has a great vibe. When you walk in the atmosphere is filled with young people listening to contemporary popular music sitting around dinning room style tables scattered between couches. The staff are all young, professional and ready to be of service. **However, there is a big issue here. The Boba Toons serve their drinks in single use plastic cups, seal it in a single use plastic lid and offer a single use straw wrapped in a single use wrapper designed to puncture the lid. The youth crowd is their targeted primary demographic, than why not offer a more environmentally sound package? Grocery stores have banned plastic bags, restaurants are offering paper straws etc. Boba Toons needs to evolve with the times and eliminate their single use plastics. Or they will still be around long after we've passed and have forgotten about the single lonely fish swimming in an empty tank. I Will not be back until the packaging changes. read more
