I'd heard about this place for some time and I vowed to visit on my next trip home. So as I drove from a long day one day I stopped here on the way back to my hotel to get some dinner. The guy in the drive-through was extremely friendly and helpful on suggestions for a weary traveler. I decided on the 3 taco platter, with rice and beans. It also included guacamole, Pico, lettuce and sour cream.. It all tasted great and I only made it through about half the platter before saving the rest for breakfast the next morning. We ordered the full chicken, which came with 2 sides. For sides we ordered rice and beans. We also ordered a side of tortillas and extra sauce. I think all in with delivery it was around $30-35...a total bargain for the quality. Sides are small so plan to order extra or supplement with your own salad or other veg. First time ever trying Chicken Fiesta and although I have tried other Mexican food places this one became number 1 in the list even above the more 'fancy' places. I must say I have neglected Chicken Fiesta for a minute. I had company and they ordered Chicken Fiesta. All of the food was seasoned and prepared exceptionally. Everything was devoured in a matter of seconds. They ordered an entire roasted chicken, fried casava and rice (the rice wasn't great). Everything was so good that I ordered food for myself the day after. I ordered grilled chicken tacos, the grilled chicken breast platter (with rice and red beans which was amazing this time around). I added my own cilantro, but the taco's were very good. I wish they would have allowed me to customize our order in door dash. The new location (Rt.1 / Parham) opened in the last month. I get why their shredded meat is housed in broth... keep the meat moist. Applaud! My problem is the NOT draining of the liquid, when filling a hard taco.... results in a soft taco. I learned this from the W. Broad location. Get your shells separate. Build your own, unless you want the bottom to fall out of your hard taco. Take out, last week. Asked for the shells to be on the side. We also ordered Chix quesadilla (limp, zero crunch and carelessly filled - fillings not distributed evenly). They did put my two taco shells in a separate to-go container... smushed/broke them to fit. The amount of juice, tomato and onion on the side (as I asked, shells on the side meant chix in a little plastic ramekin) of meat was lacking. Once you strain the liquid... you have enough onion and tomato for one taco shell... if you actually had a taco shell to fill. My fault. I want meat, not filler (tomato, onions and juice) in my hard shell taco. Just a personal preference. So. Maybe do not get hard shell tacos. Maybe do not get a quesadilla if you expect it to be fully and evenly filled... and crispy. Maybe.... Go somewhere else. Go see for yourself, you may love it! read more

I have been wanting to try out Chicken Fiesta for so long, the reviews are consistently good and the menu variety offered has something for everyone. Three of us went and each got something different so we could all try and share. But before we even ordered, we were impressed at how welcoming the staff was, so friendly and eager to answer any questions we had about the menu. This was so refreshing. I ordered the quarter chicken and rib combo, the ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and I loved the sauce. The rotisserie chicken is so flavorful, I loved how crisp it was without being dried out. My boyfriend got enchiladas and they were AMAZING. I don't really even care for enchiladas but wow. Our guest had soft shell tacos and they were also amazing. This place happened to be close to our hotel and we noticed it while we were driving and decided to stop. I am so happy that we did. This was some of the best chicken that I've had in Virginia. As a New Yorker I grew up around places that did a great roast chicken but its not something thats super common in these parts. The Peruvian style chicken was so flavorful and the sauces that they give you with it take it up a notch. The spices were just right on the meats and it was actually my first time getting their ribs - not too bad. My girlfriend travels for work on occasion, and when she's in Virginia, I hear nothing but amazing from Chicken Fiesta, so when I joined her in Virginia for a weekend, I was eager to sink my teeth into the food here! We went for lunch on a Friday and as soon as we walked in we saw the chickens grilling and could smell those seasons filling the room! We ordered the following: #3 combo ($10.25) Quarter chicken ($6.75) Yuca fries (approximately $2) Alfajores (didn't catch the price) My #3 combo was the 1/4 chicken and ribs. With the ribs you can choose 2 of the following sides: Yucca fries, rice, beans, salad, coleslaw or tortillas. I chose their coleslaw and beans, and then I purchased a side of their Yucca fries. So what did I think? Man everything lived up to the hype! The chicken was aggressively seasoned, and every bite was moist and flavorful! The ribs were fall off the bone tender, meaty and every bite was delicious. The sides here also were pretty great. The Yucca fries were constantly crunchy, soft in the middle. The coleslaw was a semi sweet slaw that really hit the spot with all the savory meats. Finally, the black beans, which almost were a soup, was also a great choice. I should also note that the Quarter chicken ALSO comes with a choice of 2 sides as well! Rounding out the eats were the Alfajores, which was a type of shortbread flavored with coconut, caramel, and finished with powdered sugar. This taste just as good as it sounds! Located off of West Broad street, there is a decent amount of parking in the Chicken fiesta lot. Interior seating is also a decent size, being able to sit at least 50 hungry folks. This is one of two Chicken Fiestas we visit. This is a much more spacious location, housed in what was once a franchised fast food restaurant. As a result, this location also has a vastly superior parking situation. Experience - 5 stars. The staff is always welcoming and the restaurant is always clean. Food - 3.5 - 5 stars depending on visit My wife always has the quesadilla, while I always order chicken. For the sides, I always get the yucca's, which is a starchy root vegetable, similar to a potato. This comes with a mayonnaise based yellow sauce or a hot green sauce. More often than not, we also order maduros (fried sweet plantains). The greatest variability is mostly based on the chicken, and periodically the yuccas. On this occasion, the chicken was a little dry, but the yucca was perfect. We both tried the mango drink, but we disappointed in the watered down concentrated drink. Price - 4.5 - For the most part, everything is priced just about right., although I do personally have a hard time getting my head around a $15 with two side chicken. We've been frequenting Chicked Fiesta for nearly as long as we have lived in Richmond.
