They do iftar (opening of daily Ramadan fast) buffet!!! It's not self-service, but they serve the food quickly, and you can have all-you-can-eat, including naan and a dessert. Tonight, there was chicken buryani (rice dish), chicken pulao (rice dish), beef and lentils, chana (curry garbanzo), and chicken kabobs (with bone). It was a tie between the buryani, pulao, and chicken kabobs for the tastiest items. Of course, after fasting all day, just about everything tastes good, and I would say those items are extra delicious. Around sunset, it was packed,but there were a few open tables when I arrived, and they have dates for everyone, too. I was full after my only plate, but I definitely had plenty of food, and the price was very reasonable--same for kids or adults. I am glad I found this location, and hopefully, this review helps other yelpers looking for an iftar dining out experience in the area. read more

Kabob Place - I really wanted to like you, but, unfortunately, you were pretty disappointing! The menu is extensive, offering combo platters (chicken seekh, beef seekh, chapli kabobs, chicken tikka with bone, etc.), various kabobs and tikkas, karahis, sides, salads, and options from the hot bar. The hubs and I were in town, and we are huge karahi fans. We found that this place had some stellar reviews, particularly in this dish, and that one of the chefs had experience in working at Kabob Palace. We ordered the Lahori Chicken Karahi, which was described as having fresh baby chicken, cut into small pieces, fried in garlic, ginger, tomatoes, and house spices with thick sliced ginger. We waited for about 15-20 minutes or so, knowing that this dish does take some time in getting prepared, which was a non-issue. The karahi itself? It was just... bland. There were a lot of bones and hardly any white meat; the sauce itself was extremely watered down and had no taste of spices - it was just flavorless. It was a little spicy due to the peppers, but there was definitely no depth of flavor. The 2 naan bread that came with were made-to-order so they were hot and fresh. Looking at the menu, we noticed that we didn't even receive the salad it should have come with. The place it is large and had plenty of tables. There was one other party who was dining in, but I felt that the table tops could have been wiped down better, as there were water marks and leftover food bits/crumbs on both the tables and on the chairs. The staff were friendly and kind. I want to give a shout out to this local Pakistani business for giving complimentary takeout boxes in a time of emergency. I originally heard about this from a caring neighbor of mine and wanted to check it out. I won't speak to the interior since these are strange times and there is no sit-down service. Everything was barred off and the proper precautions were taken and everything looked sanitary. But the kind woman asked me how many boxes I wanted and I asked for two. But the food! I'm not exactly sure what everything was, but there were three parts inside. There was rice biryani which was so well seasoned, spicy chicken, and then a chickpea side as well. I love sauce, so I loved being able to drizzle the sauce over the rice and mix everything together. The chicken was really tender and juicy and I liked the spiciness in it. There was also chicken pieces inside the rice as well. The chickpea dish was a little sweet and not as strongly flavored as the other two, but I thought it complemented well. read more

Not knowing that Crustacean Boil & Grill had moved from here to across the plaza, I accidentally walked into this place last year. A little thrown off that it wasn't Crustacean Boil & Grill, I left. When I got to my car, all I could think of was how good the food smelled at Kabob Place. For whatever reason I didn't return until a little over a year later. So fast forward to my first visit and I got lamb kabob as takeout. After my first bite, I could not have been more disappointed in myself for not making it back to Kabob Place much sooner. My lamb was very tender and perfectly seasoned. On my second visit, I ordered sheedu fish. It was perfectly fried and seasoned. And best of all, it was seriously the flakyest and most buttery fish that I've ever had. And if it couldn't get any better, their naan is ridiculously huge! At that point, I was sold and Kabob Place officially became one of my new go-to places. I've been here about 5 times now and I've tried something different every time. Every visit, my expectations are more than met. Lastly, I almost took a star away for this but depending on who's at the counter, there usually is a little bit of a language barrier. And that's somewhat expected when visiting an ethnic business, but my issue is service is always just ok with me. But when people of the same kind show up, staff is way more interactive and friendly. I finally got to check this place out! I got the combo #1 which is 2 chicken kabobs and it comes with rice, salad, naan and a side of your choice. These chicken kabobs are grounded chicken blended with other spices and goodies. They have two other types of chicken (I think it's combo #3) which is boneless chicken and boned in chicken. For the side, my friend got the chickpeas and I got the spinach. The chicken kabobs were very tender and flavorful. The rice and sides were on point and delicious. The naan was huge! Overall, everything I had was delicious. I definitely will be coming back to try their other items! The food took about 15-20 minutes for the food to be ready, so it's made hot and fresh! You don't get a ticket number and they don't take your name. They kind of just call your order out so be sure to pay attention! Parking can be a bit difficult since there are a few other businesses sharing the same lot (a movie theater, a gym and other restaurants). So be sure to go a bit earlier to accommodate that if you're meeting someone. Better yet, carpool! The only problem I had with this place was they used an iPad to take payments. The person who took our order gave us no direction on how to use it when paying so it was confusing, even though we used iPads for payments in the past. We asked for help and she said to just press any of the buttons on the screen and so we did and it ended up registering that we were paying in cash (we wanted to pay by card). She seemed rather annoyed that we hit "the wrong button" and made us pay in cash instead. This was fine since I had emergency cash on me but she tried to do the math mentally and almost gave me back $20 less in change. I have ordered from here many times and food is good. The owner lady is sweet and always welcoming. However, when I went to pick up an order that I had placed over phone today, a young man was eating naan inside the kitchen area. The chef inside asked him to do the bill and hand over my food. With the same hand that he was eating, the guy took the food I ordered (from a food warmer near the counter) and is handing it to me. He was also touching the billing counter and entering the bill with the same hands. Everything happened so fast that I dint know how to react, just paid the bill, came out and tore the plastic Bag that he had touched with dirty hands and took just the food with me. I blame myself for not refusing the food but I myself was having a long day and dint want any arguments. Long story short, most of my orders from this restaurant are through Uber eats. Have they been sending me contaminated dirty food so long ? I have never complained about the taste but what's the point when even basic cleanliness is lacking, yuck. Halwa was okay, puri was hard and chole was blunt in taste, and in chicken tikka platter, what was that, never seen that big naan. Of course, I could not finish it. Went to Kabob Place for lunch with some coworkers today. One coworker of which was an expert with this tradition of food. So we let him order for everyone....AND let me just say, it was phenomenal. I have never tried Indian food but I am always open to trying new things. We ordered 3 chicken Karahi and 3 duck Karahi with the chick peas side and the chutni. The chicken karahi was super tender and flavorful with just the right amount of spices. The duck was chewy with some delicious fat like textures. The curry sauce to soak it up with the FRESH naan was amazing as well. I was excited to be able to have leftovers for the next day. 10/10 I will definitely be back sooner than later! read more

Kabob Place is certainly not the belle of the ball with it's fragmented decor and slapdash attempt to cover up the previous Mardis Gras themed occupant. However, they do make up for it by offering good food! Usually boneless chicken anything is a big disappointment, so I tend to stay away from those menu items. People highly recommended their boneless chicken kabobs here though, so I took the leap and I am glad I did! Kabob Place has the best boneless chicken kabobs I personally ever had. The meat was so juicy, tender, and well seasoned without being overwhelming. The lamb kabobs (regular and lamb chops) that I've tried here were also pretty good, but the standout for me is their chicken. I really want to come back to try their bone-in chicken kabobs just to see how they compare to the boneless. All of their kabobs were placed in a refrigerated case out front. The owner was very sweet and she helped guide me through the ordering process to make my selections. Once you make your choice, they take the skewers to the kitchen to cook them which took about 10-15 minutes. Along with the kabobs, you get rice, salad, your choice of veggie, and a huge piece of freshly made naan. Avoid at all costs. Every table is dirty and covered in food waste, there is roaches in the bathroom, and the staff is rude. Ordered dinner for my family of five, and the staff was not able to competently serve my order. They brought out each entree in pieces causing them to forget my sides and naan. When this was calmly and kindly brought up to the staff, the manager/owner told me to "go somewhere else", anyone who has worked in the food service industry know this is not how you handle this situation. When I went to wash my hands in the bathroom after eating my dinner, I saw a huge roach run across the bathroom floor and up onto the bathroom wall. An exterminator and health inspector need to be called ASAP? Why is ownership and management allowing desserts and sides to be stored in the same showcase as raw meat? Unsanitary. Update: revisit with my son today 11.24 and the food was better than the first time If that was even possible. We ordered the goat and lamb and everything was delicious. My son loved every portion on his meal. I said I would bring my family back. Had dinner here with a coworker tonight and it was absolutely delicious. The food came out quickly. The bread was huge and tasty. It was like a pizza without sauce and toppings. We had the Goat that was seasoned perfectly. Right amount of seasoning and right amount of spiciness. The goat was fresh and never frozen in my opinion. I ate everything in the pot and eat all the bread and I don't even feel bad because I know it was freshly made. I have never intentionally ordered Pakistani food. I don't say that with any malice, I just never thought to try it. Well, we ordered carry out tonight and brought home the lamb chop kabob as well as a chicken kabob. The platter came with the best rice I have had in a long time, a side of a chick pea dish, chutney, and a piece of naan the size of a large pizza! The lamb and chicken were definitely spicy, well within my tolerance but at the edge of my dinner partners. Again, the rice and chicken peas were fantastic. Next time I may just order those with the naan and crush it. Bottom line was the food was ready on time, portions were generous, price was fair, food was tasty, and the service was friendly. One star off for the atmosphere and sauce. This used to be the Crustacean and one side of the restaurant still has their leftover decoration. But you know what, who cares as long as the food is good and it definitely is! We ordered the lamb and chicken and both were juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The naan came right out of the oven and it was flaky, warm, and huge! We had rice and chick peas as our sides and those chick peas.....I could have eaten a whole pot! As far as the sauce goes and this could be a personal preference, but it was too watery. The flavor and spice were there, but a bit diluted because of the water content. This kabob place is not a very good place! If I could give it a zero star, I would! I went there recently during ramadan. He claimed to have a "buffet," so I went there and paid 11 dollars. He was serving the food at the buffet and only gave me a few grains of food. I left very upset after a day of fasting, with very minimal food. I always enjoy finding the newest Kabob/Afghan in town...they usually don't sprout up often. When I heard of this one, I went on a Sunday afternoon to check it out. Like most establishments of similar genre, I was expecting it to be pretty empty upon walking in; I was wrong. It was busy (good sign) and there was a line at the counter. As I stood in line I observed everything going on and this place is pretty hectic and there was one cashier doing the work of 3 people. This causes a lot of unnecessary commotion and confusion. It also slows down the process of ordering and picking up the food. Once I got to the front of the line, I ordered the lamb kabob and beef seekh kabob that comes w/ rice and 2 sides for a total of $16 after tip. Whoa. A little on the high side for lunch in RVA. These are like Nova prices! Anyways, waited about 15ish minutes when the lady at the counter yelled over (LOL) to me that my order was up. She added the lettuce and rice and chickpeas and I was on my way back to the table. I tried everything and it was truly delicious. The kabobs were perfectly cooked and obviously fresh. They were soft and tender and not chewy. The seekh kabob was an adequate side but I'd probably opt for something else next time since this didn't score too high in the flavor department. Rice and chick peas were great. I'd recommend getting the chickpeas ON THE SIDE since you'll get a little more quantity wise. The naan was fresh and nicely seasoned. This is a good place. I had a bit of an issue with them honouring my resturants.com certificate though. They tried to show me a sign that stated with the reaturant.com coupon you can not get kabobs and could only get the buffet. The buffet selection is 4 things which I wasn't interested in. On the coupon is doesnt say that it limits food therefore I made then honour my coupon. I took a star off for this and the water situation. I ordered the number 6 which is 1 lamb kabob and 1 chicken, rice, chick peas and salad. I didn't like that I had to ask for the salad which was in the picture and it didnt come dressing which was weird. I also got 2 water which were 1.38 each. I didnt like tnat she tried to gave me the no name water so I told her to give me the Nestle water. The meat was well seasoned and had flavor. It was cooked to order which was great.
