The service was done at my cousins house and I was the one to interact with Dan's son. This guy was pretty rude and gave the vibe that he was too good to be here. We were charged more than the initial price even though the amount of vents was what we discussed. We did not want to argue with his son when he was still present so we tried reaching out to Dan which he is completely like what the other reviews say, MIA when it comes to customer concerns. Air Duct Cleaning Service Technician was a very nice, hardworking fellow, but he did not complete the job after two tries. And he broke a dryer vent which I had pay someone to install and paint. Manager sent a replacement vent promptly at his cost, but no offer to install the vent or to paint it. This is how he earned one star. I was left with the impression that the manager waws belligerent and argumentative when we asked for his help to get our system to be fully, not only partially cleaned after the first visit. Manager was full of excuses which essentially blamed us because the system was not fully cleaned. It didn't get better in our second discussion after we sent photos of black dusty goo that was dislodged by incomplete cleaning. Enjoy the photos below. Actually, we don't have a crawlspace, and our duct system doesn't leak. We live in an area that NorCal Duct Cleaning advertises as servicing. It was surprising that the manager would gripe about having to dispatch a technician for an area that he advertises as serving when the reason for the call back was that the first service was incomplete. Yes, some of the vents were clean, but some areas were not adequately cleaned. Manager: "When was the last time you had your system cleaned?" If more than 2 or 3 years ago, you can't expect things to be spic and span." J: it's just dirty after construction which was what we described when we hired NorCal Duct Cleaning. I was reminded of the Monty Python Argument sketch where John Cleese contradicts and argues any point offered, no matter how ludicrous. J: I'll send to you and your technician photos of what blew out of our ducts minutes after your technician left. I sent the photos and video. Manager No reply. We spend $1000 to clean the house of construction dust, and as the last step to cleaning we had Dan send his technician out. Because the job was incomplete, dust and grime blew through the house and we'll have to hire another crew to clean it after we find someone who can thoroughly clean the ducts and who stands behind his work. We're without heat right now because my wife will cough up a storm with the stuff that is blowing around AFTER two incomplete cleanings. In a very polite way, we asked the manager for help to remediate the problem of incomplete cleaning and we provided photographic evidence, and a schematic to show where our system was and was not cleaned. It was my impression that the manager was only defensive and accusatory. Maybe he was having a bad week. Technician was very nice and tried hard, but he didn't do a complete job. We were glad to hire a small company, but we were disappointed that the company would not deliver clean vents as promised, and as we paid for. It's not worth the aggravation to business with the manager here; he would not accept the reality that his guy did an incomplete job. It's positive that he supports his employee, but it's negative to not correct an incomplete job and blame the customer for performance failure. read more

This is the third time we have used this company, and each time we have been VERY happy with them. The first time was in 2021, and then after having our floors replaced in December of 2022, we needed to use them again. Dan was quick to reply and scheduled an appt. right away. The technician John was amazing! I did not know much about Yelp back then, so I did not write a review. This year we replaced our master bathroom and shower and a few months ago we began to see more dust then usual, so I decided we should have our ducts cleaned again. I called Dan yesterday, and he was able to fit us in today! Lucky for us, once again it was John who was our technician. With the smoky air and cold evenings, we've been using the heater quite a bit these days. In order to do some preventive maintenance, we decided to schedule an air-duct cleaning. We've never had this done since moving into the house five years ago. I found Norcal Air Duct Cleaning via Yelp, and was able the schedule an appointment with the owner, Dan the same week on my off Friday! I chose the Gold package which included cleaning 12 vents, the dryer vent, and sanitation. The process takes about 90 minutes for the whole house, where a powerful vacuum cleaner with a 20-30 foot hose with rotating brush is applied for each vent. The downstairs vents are usually dirtier so it required a very powerful vacuum called "The Beast." For those high ceiling vents, a 6-foot aluminum ladder was sufficient. The technician, Brandon happened to be over 6-foot tall so it worked perfectly. Overall service was great and Brandon was both thorough, organized, and sociable. He's the owner's son and happened to be available on a Friday which really great for my schedule. He also gave good advice on different types of filters to consider for the return vent register. Highly recommend them. Although we don't have pets and haven't done any home renovations, it felt good to clean the air ducts at least once. read more

I would suggest to stay away from these guys. My heating furnace starting making some loud rattling sound before it turned on and I also did not have any duct cleaning done in a couple of years so I decided to call this company to come here. I talked to Dan Ghilarducci, the business owner, and scheduled duct cleaning. Some guy came here and performed a super fast cleaning (we are talking 5 minutes or so). On all other occasions I had duct cleaning, it took much longer. This obviously sparked a suspicion that this was not a thorough job. Well, far from a thorough job. When vacuuming one of the ducts (super fast and not careful), he must have pushed it such that it popped off the vent. Obviously, he would not fix it. So later I had to go in the crawl space and fix it. This took me easily half an hour, not to mention that I had to crawl in the dust. Then he cleaned the dryer vent. When he was taking off the cover he broke it so it was unusable. He actually apologized for this and said he will bring a new cover another day. He never did. I contacted Dan twice and they still would not bring a new cover. I bought one and replaced it myself (another $5 damage and extra time to buy it and install it) The biggest joke was the furnace inspection. He glanced at it and said it is fine. When I asked why is it making a loud noise before it starts and whether this will lead to an eventual failure he said there is nothing to worry about. Since I was under the impression his worker would need to go through my attic, he stated the charge would be $250. Well, the worker showed up and did not need to go into my attic at all. Stay away from this company! They don't do what they promise! I talked to Dan over phone and he said he will do the whole house duct cleaning for $600. Later on, they said that there is a return path that is not normal and for that they charged an extra $150! The worse part is that they said that they will clean every inch of the ducts. Clearly, their hose was not long enough to reach out for that claim. I am sure the return path is not cleaned all the way to the furnace. Another problem is that they did not clean one of the ducts at all. This company has a good rating on online "home project" websites. I used one of those and received a call from the owner. He reminded me several times of how proud he was of his rating. I booked an appointment for 7 vents and a dryer vent cleaning service. Technician arrived at 1:52 pm (early) and was gone by 2:25 pm, based on Ring time stamp video. We were quoted $299, but charged $300 on the receipt, which we paid in full. Although this is minor, it's the principal of it: going over quote without an explanation is a deal breaker for me. Many people will think I'm petty for this. Okay. I had several quotes, and could have mixed up what was promised in services, so I'll own up to that. I was under the impression that the vents would be inspected and the filter would be replaced. I even bought a filter for the technician to replace the old one with, while the intake was open. So, my complaints: no vent inspections, no filter changed, a total mess outside the dryer vent exit on exterior of the house (which is my neighbor's front door area), and used paper towels left behind the dryer. I was informed too much time has passed for the technician to remember if my heater's filter was cleaned during the service. I would recommend the technicians write down what services took place and what was cleaned on receipts. Owner contacted me today to discuss my original review. He takes pride in his company. I had a dryer vent installed along with that service I was told duct cleaning was included for $200. First of all, plastic vent was installed, cost about $6. They didn't have the right size screws, when I went to inspect half of it was falling off. I was then asked if I had screws, seriously?!! I pay you $200 and you arrive without the right materials!!! I recently had my air ducts cleaned for the second time by Norcal Air Duct Cleaning. Each time the scheduler, Dan, got me worked in within just days, the technician was on time, knowledgeable, courteous, mindful of taking care while working in my home and had the job done in 45 minutes (I have a small system: 7 ducts and the runs are straight). The furnace is now working reliably (didn't come on immediately one day before the cleaning) and with the new clean MERV 13 filter, the air coming out of my registers is markedly improved. I needed to get my dryer vent cleaned because it was clogged, and thought of getting my duct vents cleaned as well when I saw the deal on this sight. I got a platinum package, which was for $499. I talked to Dan, the owner. We set up a time for Rafael to come to do the job. Rafael was very professional and looked at all the vents before he could start the job, and found some leaks which needed to be fixed before he could clean the duct vents. He cleaned out the dryer vent that day as that was my immediate need, and was coming back to do the rest duct vents after the ducts were fixed. I got the duct vents fixed and set up an appointment again. Meanwhile,I used my dryer and turns out the dryer vents was not cleaned completely, and my dryer thermostat burned down. I get an appliance guy to fix that and pay $160. So when Rafael comes back he tried to clean the dryer vent again, but apparently Norcal does not have the right tools to clean my dryer vent. Rafael was very professional, polite and good at what he did and explained to me why he could not do it, as the angle my dryer vent was he needed compression force. He told me and calls Dan as well that the dryer cannot get cleaned completely. So as the dryer doesn't get cleaned, I asked Dan for a discount for I had to get the dryer fixed for $160 because the dryer vents were /could not get cleaned in the first place and later as well. Dan said he would give a $50 off. He did not explain or even mention that it would take the package deal off. So when the job was done, he refused to give the filter which was part of the deal. Rafael had no idea it would be like this. He seemed as surprised as I was to learn this fact. Dan was mean and rude to me when I tried to explain over the phone and said if you ask for discount there is no package! Seemed I was talking to a totally different person whom I had contacted a week earlier. This was very disappointing. So basically not only I did not get a package, as the $50 he took off, he did not give the electrstic filter. In fact I had to pay extra $160 more because of Norcal to fix my dryer thermostat again. Never count on Norcal for dryer vent cleaning. Get an actual dryer professional, who have the right tools to clean that. Norcal is only for regular duct cleaning. I will not, never recommend Norcal! Mainly because of the owner's attitude. The whole thing went the drain for me because its not ok for me when people are rude and can't respectfully talk, no matter what! We called Dan when it started getting cold and the 13 layers of clothing and 30 degree lows at night weren't cutting it anymore. We figured it would be better to get the vents cleaned before turning the heat on, but had no idea how much crap was in there (other than the sawdust that we could see in the register courtesy of the floor refinishers). Dan was quick to return my call with a quote and was able to come out within a few days. The men did do a quick turn around and stuck to the quoted price ($349 for 9 vents for full air duct cleaning, sanitization and furnance filter replacement- half the price of a hypoallergenic deep cleaning and all the other quotes we got). As my husband says, it was the quickest $349 dollars ever out the door, but in the end, the vents were clean (minimal dust came out after we first turned the furnace on) and fully functional. I found Norcal Air Duct Cleaning through Yelp when looking for someone to come clean the dryer vent in my condo. I had just purchased a brand new washer/dryer and they were installed on Wednesday, 6/8. I wanted to start fresh in having my dryer vent cleaned, so my new dryer would work most efficiently. I wish I could give Dan, the owner, five stars, as his promptness in returning my call and booking an appointment was seamless. He was very friendly and accommodating over the phone. He told me he would be at my home for my 8 am appointment last Friday, 6/10. Unfortunately, I was not home during the service, but my boyfriend was. Apparently, the person who came to do the service was Dan's son. This is where the ONE star rating comes from. Clearly, his son is inexperienced, as instead of pulling the dryer unit out to begin working on it, he decides to sit on top of my dryer, causing two dents on the top. When my boyfriend pointed it out to Dan's son, he tried to pop out the dents and dumbfoundedly looked at my boyfriend saying he didn't know what to do. I highly doubt he even mentioned what he did to Dan. If he had, I would expect a small business owner and someone who cared about their reputation/customer service, would immediately contact the customer to remedy the situation. Regardless that the service was completed (and who knows how efficiently it was done considering the situation!), I am shocked at the lack of professionalism from Dan and his son regarding this incident. I called and left a voicemail and sent photos to Dan and asked for him to call me back. Instead of calling me back, he calls my boyfriend and takes NO responsibility for what happened, claiming they did their job and "the work was done". He also said something along the lines of "you know how women are" to my boyfriend, in response to my frustration in my voicemail to him. My husband spoke with Dan (the owner) of NorCal Airduct to schedule an appointment to clean out all the air ducts of the house we were moving into in San Jose. Over the phone he quoted us $299 for 10 vents plus $15 extra for each additional vent. On the day of the appointment his tech arrived and said he couldn't do our job "because of our floors" and that we had to reschedule. We were having some floor work done in the kitchen area, etc but the rest of the house was accessible. On the day of the rescheduled appointment we ended up being charged $400!!! We only had 12 vents so we were expecting the charge to be somewhere around $329 plus tax. But $70 tax??? When I asked my husband why it was $400 he said the tech charged him $20 each additional vent (not the $15 that Dan quoted over the phone) plus the gas money or whatever for the extra trip they had to make the time before. This was upsetting due the the fact that first of all - we were specifically told it would be $15 for each additional vent, not $20. Second of all, we were not the ones who rescheduled - they were. Dan did not explain to us at all what type of work space he needed to do the job. How were we supposed to know that a little floor work in the corner was going to be bothersome to them??! If he had told us, we could have scheduled another day appropriately! And even still, I highly doubt it costs $60 for gas from San Ramon to San Jose!!! When we called to question the charges, Dan was very rude and argumentative. He did not address why we were charged $20 for each additional vent, only that we were charged $340 for the air duct job (when it should have been $329) and additional fee for the reschedule (which we didn't feel was our fault because we were not informed on how they needed the house to be). He also could have made us aware that we would incur all these hidden fees, that would have been nice. I heard the conversation my husband was having with Dan over the phone and he would not listen or even let my husband talk. He was just being rude, raising his voice arguing and talking over him like he was the one pissed at us! Anyways, that's really bad customer service. I see now on the other bad reviews that this is how he deals with things which is super unprofessional and I would not recommend anyone to go to this company because if an issue comes up you'll get yelled at like it's your fault and even overcharged. The experience I had with NorCal started on a high note but then ended poorly. I spoke with the owner who is blunt and was able to tell me how they would clean my dryer vent. I expressed to him a concern I had with my cap on my roof. Lent was trapped on the top and I asked if they needed to get on the roof to clean it. The owner said it should be fine and stated they would charge me the non-roof access price. I also asked if any large amount of excess lent on my roof would get cleaned up and he told me that they would. Fast forward to the date of service. The technician was nice and formal. He clean from the interior vent and it went fine. This is where my dissatisfaction comes in. After the technician cleaned the dryer vent, there was lent on the roof and the cap still had lent trapped inside it. I brought it up to him, asked him if he would clean it up, and he told me that he wouldn't go up to the roof unless he up charge me $99 more dollars on top of the fee I was about to pay for the non-roof price. This was $50 more than the actual roof access price too. I told him the owner said they would clean up the excess lent on the roof of there was any. The technician responded that the air will blow it off. Really?! Since the service I have tried to call NorCal and express my dissatisfaction and try to get them to remedy this, but they have not returned my calls. Very unprofessional. Overall, this company knew about my concerns from the beginning. But, I was left dissatisfied because they would clean up any of the excess lent without an additional charge. Had he charged me the roof price, this review would not be like this. Updated 10/26/20: I went up to my roof to find out that the work the technician did ended up only clogging up my dryer vent cap. This infuriated me! I proceeded to call the owner and ask for a refund. But, because I did not accept the technician's offer to get up on the roof to clean the cap, his hands were clean. The technician wouldn't even suggested to go on the roof had I not brought it up with them in the first place. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY! Wish I read these reviews before I called Norcal!! Scheduling, quote and staff all get 5 stars. But when it comes to Dan's professionalism and service, I would high NOT recommend this company. His staff arrived on time 10am and was to repair a few ducts that had been damaged by rats and clean 10 airducts. I understood there was a subcontractor doing the repairs, and this subcontractor did a great job and asked me to pay him directly. His employee (sorry forgot his name) also said the same thing and they asked me to come back in 2 hours. They called me 1 1/2 hours later and said they were done, so I told them I would mail the checks to them. I did so immediately for the agreed upon amount. THEN, Dan called me and got angry that I paid the subcontactor and insisted I cancel the check and pay the invoice amount. I felt like I was caught between Dan and his employees. dan called 3-4 times, leaving me text messages until 8:45pm. These messages were aggressive, pushy and unprofessional. I did what he asked and paid the invoice he sent me. I blocked his number because I felt like he was harassing me to get paid. I would have paid at the time of service but they finished early and could not wait for me to arrive, so I paid the next day. Had Norcal clean our air ducts in our apartment in one of Cournale & Co buildings in San Francisco a few weeks back. I'm in the construction business so before starting to run the air ducts in the apartment I checked the air ducts myself to make sure it was clean and found out that it was full of duct and debris. After getting the building management to send out 2 companies to get our air ducts clean non of them got the job done right and I could barely notice any results of their "show". I needed it done asap because it hadn't been done in awhile and we were getting a new dyer delivered - they were fantastic about squeezing my job in with my time crunch!
