I had a CT Scan in January. Received my bill in February, paid in full through their website. For 4 months people from their office would call me about the payment, I would tell them it's paid, help then pull my history on their CRM, they would go through the tickets and recognize they lost track of the payment and ask me to forward my receipt to Jennifer Smilie. I graciously took all their 6 calls, taking my time to help them figure out their problem. Now they sent me a collection letter. NorCal Oakland at least give you cute socks to wear. San Leandro? Nope. My toes were cold as I didn't wear my socks. At least they were on time, took me in quickly, and was in and out in 30 minutes. This place has terribly long wait times, both in person and on the phone. The office staff seems to be very incompetent when it comes to basic insurance coverage. Their fax machine suspiciously did not receive 5 attempted faxes from me and my Dr Office and eventually I had to text my test order in. My doctor ordered an MRI for me and the staff (including the Manager Rebecca) REFUSED to schedule an appointment without prior authorization from my insurance company. They gave me the runaround for over a week making me go back and forth to my doctor to get notes and some sort of evidence that I didn't need a pre-auth (which if they had just called my insurance company, they would've learned this SO FAST and saved me so much time!) They wouldn't take my word that I didn't need a pre-authorization and working in health care as a nurse on the front lines during this pandemic, was EXTREMELY insulting to my integrity. Ultimately, I walked in somewhere else with my order in hand and got an MRI done SAME DAY, with literally zero wait time and no unnecessary calls to my Dr office or insurance company. I had been here 2x before for X-rays, but I certainly will never be coming back and want everyone else to avoid this place! I have been to NorCal Imaging twice in the last month, lucky me. Once for a trashed knee and once for my annual (well, I put it off for five years) mammogram. TWICE the people at NorCal Imaging have turned something I dreaded into a very nice experience. The knee x-ray tech was kind and helpful. The mammogram tech was amazing, making what is usually very uncomfortable (to me, anyway - You want me to put my boob where? and then you are going to do WHAT???) into a friendly, no-big-deal no big deal. Her name was Briona and I will be forever grateful. I put that stupid test off because my last mammo was miserable - but now I will have no fear and will likely get the test on time next time. No one picks up the phone. I keep getting put on hold, and when the call finally goes through, no one picks up, thus disconnecting the call. And then I tried again and again, only to be disconnected time after time. Hence I decided to go in person to schedule an appointment. Even if you sign in before others, they don't go down the list. They don't know how to prioritize the needs to get patients in and out faster. Patients that walks in after me are being called before me. By now, I have waited about an hour, only to see one after another to be called before me. The explanation was "appointment has priorities." So in my mind, that means that I might potentially not get called depending on your speed, missing order, order verification, and 15-minute breaks. My 2-cent suggestion: hire more people to operate a call center for scheduling, improve your call line communication. If you are receiving high call volume, change that damn automatic recording. Or pickup the phone and ask if ok to call the patient back at a later time. As an outpatient imaging facility, you depend on referrals. If patients keep complaining to their primary care physician, eventually they will stop sending their patients to YOU. Unless you give a kickback to the doctor. I was just there for a CT scan and di not know what to expect. My techs Chris and Hirali were amazing. Chris hit my difficult vein without me feeling anything. I mean anything! No bruising either and I always bruise when I get a blood text. No difficulty getting appointment, minimal weight time. But you have to look fast to see their driveway. I went past it twice, but figured it out. Thanks so much Chris and Hirali, very professional and THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!! I will be back! read more

Very poor scheduling and time management! Scheduled for 10 am appointment and was told to arrive 15 minutes ahead, waited hour and half, keep changing waiting rooms and not being informed. Extremely dissatisfied! Billing is as bad as the scheduling, billed me five time's for the same statement instead of billing the insurance company, had to call five time to try to address the issue and still unsolved, very very disappointed! This is the worse place to go for any type of imaging! My mom went here for her mammogram and ultra sounds and now it's been a month and they can't find her ultra sound results to fax it over. Norcal imaging. I have never been here before. I did not have an appointment. I looked them up on yelp I saw bunch of horrible reviews. I still decided to visit the office because this is the one That my doctor suggested . I got here at eight in the morning I was greeted by two ladies behind the counter they were both professional and Courteous. They asked me to fill out a few forms and give my ID and insurance card. I sat in the waiting Lobby for less than five minutes. I was seen by the radiologist within another five minutes. My total Visit from walking through the door and leaving took no more than 15 minutes total. These guys deserve six stars. Good job Norcal imaging.. read more

I have called twice and have spent more than 1/2 hour each time waiting to talk to someone. Then they say there is no requisition but wait - here it is minute later - my doctor has already sent it twice! Now I am told I have call back again two days from now as they need more info from the physician before I can make an appointment. That is three calls and lots of time on hold to make 1 appointment - hopefully the third call will be the charm. This place doesn't have it together at all. My first experience with this kind of total incompetence in an office. I will ask my doctor to go somewhere else next time. Everyone please beware this location has no consideration for your time, staff are very rude, and make serious mistakes. My appointment was at 830 I arrived at 828. Signed in and within a couple minutes received paperwork. I've been through this before so I know they don't begin right away, but typically 15 minutes after your appointment is scheduled. There was a good amount of people especially since they just opened at 8am. On to my issues ..... 1. The documents you sign is giving your rights away. I never just sign without reading. It's just liability, what you can do if they screw up basically no court just litigation, who they share you're info with, conditions, etc. I want a copy of what I signed and asked the woman to make a copy. She gave me the coldest mug (in my mind I would like to go off). She repeats you need a copy like why do you need a copy. And I ask is that going to be a problem and she says no. But she was hesitant about it. Why because most people don't ask. Ugh. 2. I hate ear hustling but there was no way I couldn't hear. A woman was here since 8 waiting for her appointment. She goes to the front at 9am to get an update and they tell her one of the tests we don't have here. Apparently they scheduled the appointment and confirmed she could do both. She inquired why did they schedule it if they don't have one of the machines and she just wanted answers because this is time. The woman responds so condescendingly and nonchalantly so we can reschedule it and do one here. That's all we can do for now. Of course that may be true but that's not how you respond to a mistake. Especially since she only found out due to checking on the status a whole hour after going in. 3. By far the biggest issue is time. You need to take a whole half day or a full day maybe if you go on a day that you work. It's frustrating for me as I'm busy and I cherish every single second of my day. I was seen more than an hour and a half after my appointment time. I had to go to the desk to even get a status update. Mind you I was advised to block out about an hour for my appointment . It would be ideal to let me know upon check in they are behind more than hour and if I have time. I would have left as I had to catch a flight and I blocked time for 1.5hrs. My time spent here was two and half hours now. I came on time and thirty minutes after the location opened. In addition I had an appointment. I will never come back here. I now have to rush my last tasks. 4. They talk so rude to the elderly. What are you here for right when they begin to walk up and very loudly. No consideration of privacy. One staff member called a woman's name and she pronounced it wrong and the staff says to the woman are you (name) and she responds yes and the staff says well why you just look at me. We don't have time this morning. Seriously! There were two professional sweet respectful women (Lina and Rahila) who were the MRI techs but the rest which were front desk are worse than anything that comes from your rear. Remember don't come here. It may seem convenient but if you do come you will realize it was not worth it! Save the trouble Go to another location or a different company altogether. Who ever is the manager, or owner I hope you read this review. Your staff needs serious training on customer service, professionalism, and courtesy. needed X-ray of right hip in which surgery was done at San Leandro Hospital , you know, that hospital that people say "don't go there." They did follow suit, I had to wait 2 1/2 hours for hip surgery. this was after shopping around for a competent surgeon. as I nervously waited for 2 1/2 hours, a tech put a 20 guage needle right where my hand bends at the wrist. I was taught to put a larger bore needle in, just in case blood products are needed. Bone surgery is a 'biggie'. as soon as I went in surgery room I asked anethsesiologist to place new 18 gauge intravenous catheter in vein for I heard the 'travel nurses' talking about my antibiotics. i knew I needed a large bore canula for that 'big gun' antibiotic to prevent extravasion of the vessel(medication so strong it could damage the vein). The iv fluids are usually in a warmer, but San Leandro Hospitals was broken along with warm blankets when you are stripped naked, scared for surgery. Oh, I had to wait 2 1/2 hours for scheduled bone surgery By notable surgeon because out of 2 anesthesiologists, one had to go home to breast feed her newborn. The poor surgeon came in to apologize for the 2 1/2 wait. He was in the OR cleaning it. I told him they sell these items called 'breast pumps' at stores. Now, People, San Leandro Hospital holds its reputation steadfastly. A year later I need for ortho(bone doctor) X-rays , I went to San Leandro hospital at 4:35, an was told X-ray department was closed. Now, no one was around and I know X-ray covers the ER. What Nasty individuals that work at San Leandro Hospital. One told me to go through the ER, do you know how much more the government would be charged? Ya,?I will come back at 7am tomorrow. How do you like San Leandro Hospital? I think its reputation from 20 years ago is the same; Subpar. But Medicine is broken today in 2024. Going backward, not forward unless you have money. My visit was freakin' quick and easy. I am totally shocked to see the low star reviews. I guess you get lucky if you book at the end of the day people. (smiles). The referral process was simple and easy because my doctor's office was able to provide everything that was needed to Norcal. My lovely doctor, Dr. Titov that is, referred me to NorcCal to do an MRI. Being that it was my first experience, I didn't know what to expect. First off, let me state that I love that the hours of business extend till 5PM. I was able to snag the last late appointment at 6PM. Coming from SF, this was VERY convenient. Norcal is very easy to locate, there is also plenty of parking available. Once I walked in, I quickly noticed the clean waiting room. The lovely lady at the front desk gave me some paperwork and asked for my autograph. Since the computers were acting pretty funky, she wasn't able to tell me what my co-pay was (I hope that doesn't end up haunting me. Dealing with BlueShield can be a pain sometimes). After signing the paperwork, I was greeted by the nice ol' MRI Technician who took me to the back and gave me the drill. Now, let's move on to this MRI experience.....The shyt was scary!!! End of story.... Nah, but for real...I never expected to be under a huge machine and hear all type of beeping's coming from all over the place. I was given a button to press if I needed assistance, but how was I going to think 'bout a darn button when I am hearing Beep, Beep, BEEEPPP all in my ear? Oh, year, they give you head plugs, but those things are useless. So how long did I have to hear the beeping noise for? 15 LONGGG minutes. SMH. I don't know if I will want to do an MRI again. Glad that experience came and went, whoo! OMG, as I write this, I can still hear the beeping in my ear...ARGHH!! Overall, quick experience (less than 25 mins) and I didn't have to wait to be seen. I would definitely recommend scheduling your appointment for the hour before they close; just make sure you arrive early as the staff would appreciate it. read more

If there is a no star as an option, I would give this place a no star. I visit Norcal Imaging San Leandro at 12:15 pm to schedule an appointment. My family doctor already warned me that it is hard to reach out to the appointment desk at Norcal. As a family doctor, she put on speaker phone and waited for 2 hours to schedule an appointment for herself. I recommended me to drive down to SL to schedule an appointment in person. I arrived SL Norcal at 12:15 and told the front desk person I need to schedule an appointment. She told me that I need to wait. I waited for 20 minutes and asked the front desk person how many people are in the queue for schedule an appointment. She told me everyone in the lobby. While waiting, I saw that other people are waiting to have ultra sound done. I then checked with the front desk person. I was told I am the first person in the queue and not sure if it will be my term within the next 20 minutes. I spent an hour waiting to schedule an appointment. The customer services is terrible. I called my insurance company and found out I have other option to go to Standford medical center in Castro Valley instead of using the dawn services in SL Norcal. Management in SL Norcal really needs to train the staffs what is Customer Services. The current customer services are unacceptable and below the standard. read more

Travel to the doctor has been difficult for my aging parents, aunts, and sister. I never have experienced talking to a person whenever I call. Yes there is usually a wait, but if you call ahead and go during a time most people won't, you're destined for a quick and painless visit. All of the technicians I've seen (ultrasound, x-rays, MRI) have great bed-side manner, provided thorough explanations and worked efficiently. After my last visit to get an MRI the patient after me became so overcome by Claustrophobia that he started yelling as soon as he was in the Machine. The tech got him out immediately and even tried to assuage his obvious embarrassment by telling him "It happens all the time... don't worry we can try again next time." First of all, there were way too many people in the waiting room to be safe for the pandemic. I actually had to go stand outside because it was impossible to be 6 feet away from anyone. Secondly, front desk staff is fine, technicians are nice, but the radiologist here is a self-righteous male who lacks compassion. My doctor (of 15 years) ordered an ultrasound on my breast. The Imaging center had the medical order and I had a doctor-to-patient email from her explaining her reasoning for just the single ultrasound. Her email included an acknowledgment that I was likely going around protocols but she had a medical opinion to justify it which she documented in detail, specifically that there would be no mammogram procedure until the results from the ultrasound were read first. The technicians were compassionate enough to show the radiologist my doctor's email, but the radiologist cited his protocols and would not honor her medical order. He had the technicians deliver his message, telling me that I could not have an ultrasound without a mammogram first. So I told the technicians I was willing to have a mammogram after the ultrasound per my doctor's orders, but the radiologist wouldn't budge. The technician said he was "adamant". I spent over an hour between the waiting room and all the back and forth during my appointment, and not once did the radiologist actually come talk to me. Seems that he wanted me to chase my doctor for HIS recommended order, that is against her own order, while I'm there at the appointment already. I don't even know who he is. But he, hands down, made my stressful situation unnecessarily more stressful--with zero concern for the emotions that go through a patient's mind. Radiologists are physicians, and if you're a physician, I shouldn't have to tell you to have compassion, and at least try to meet patients where they're at. Maybe even meet me in person and spend 2 minutes explaining your reasons to me. That might have alleviated some of my anxiety. Instead, I felt incredibly overwhelmed and pressured to go against my doctor's judgment just for the sake of "his rules". So I cancelled the ultrasound, got a refund, and walked out. At least the technicians were kind enough to help me process my refund. As soon as I got home, I made the same single ultrasound appointment with Carol Ann Read instead. The radiologist there was open-minded and talked to my doctor, understood her reasoning, and there is no problem at all. I see them in 2 days. Thank you Carol Ann Read! So if you just need a standard imaging procedure and don't mind waiting in a Petri dish waiting room, then this place is probably okay. But if you need care and consultation, know that their radiologist puts unnecessary stress on patients. I could actually argue that he harmed my mental health as I left the place shaking from anxiety. He should review his Hippocratic Oath. This place is HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED. read more

This place is hard to find. The entrance is from the outside and is not from the main entrance to the building. They are bbbbbuuuuuuuuussssssyyyyyy to the max. The worst part is they do not do appointment for x-rays. So when I had a referral from my doctor to come here I was thinking that I should stop by and make an appointment. When I got here there was already over 20 people here waiting in the waiting room and another 5 people in line. The wait is about 1-2 hours for an x-ray, any day. They don't have a slow day so you'll have to suck it up and get it done. When It was my turn everyone here was very pleasant and very nice. I was uncomfortable about the Covid safety protocol the entire time I was there, approximately 45 to 60 minutes. I have gone there many times and made appointments online. When I called for an appointment I was told everything was drop-in. With drop in, it is impossible to control the flow of patients. There are signs in the very small waiting room that say observe 6 ft. social distancing yet the chairs were placed barely 2 ft. apart. All the seats were occupied and some people were standing at one point. When my name was called, I was taken to a second waiting room for an x-ray. The space in that waiting area was HUGE and there were just two people waiting for x-ray. I've gone there for most of my testing needs, but would not go there again. read more

I just received a text message asking me to review based on my recent visit. Seriously, NorCal Imaging, get it together. Come up with a way to schedule folks, get some front desk personnel who can be friendly and efficient, while keeping their personal chats quietly, or outside of earshot of patients who are still waiting to be checked in. I only come to this location because, it's where my doctor tells me I have to go, otherwise, I'd go somewhere that doesn't make me feel like I'm wasting their time. The actual radiologists are wonderful, professional, and friendly. It's the front desk that is lacking. From the appointment process to the check in and lengthy wait times. For this particular appointment, I called to make my appointment, was on hold for about 20 minutes, and then spoken to rudely. Because the office closes at 5p, and it's now 5:15p, and I'm requesting an appointment. I was told that the referral paper provided by my doctor should tell me what time they close....umm, well, the paper doesn't tell me that, so I'm sorry If I ruined your clock out time. I was given an appointment "this time", but asked not to do this again. Appointment gal tells me to arrive 30 minutes before appointment time, so I can check in. As instructed, I arrive 30 minutes early, wait in line with only 2 people in front of me for almost 15 minutes. No greeting, no smiling faces at the front desk; Finally I'm just told to write my name on a list and they will "get to me". I do hear the woman at the front desk tell the patient before me that they make appointments for a certain time, require the patients to arrive 30 minutes prior, knowing that they are always running 30 minutes behind schedule. So, basically if you have an appointment, your expected wait time is no less than 60 minutes. 30 minutes goes by, and at my exact appointment time, I'm called and asked to fill out paperwork. I comply, and return it, and another 30 minutes goes by before I'm called in for my appointment. Without an appointment, I've been known to wait up to 2 hours. Although the CT scan technician Chris was great, there were two major issues with the facility itself. The first was that the front door was not handicap accessible, as there was no automatic door opener. There is evidently an accessible door on the side of the building, but there is no sign in the front that indicates that. When I asked the supervisor about it, she told me there used to be a sign but it had been removed for some reason and the property management company hadn't replaced it. She hadn't followed up with them. Also, the protocol for signing in at the front desk is using a clipboard with an attached pen. Everyone uses the same pen and there was no hand sanitizer in the dispenser. When I asked about this, saying that most medical offices had holders for clean and used pens, the receptionist showed me their two labeled containers of pens, which she had on her desk BEHIND the glass partition. She said that the clipboard pen got sanitized, but while I was waiting for my appointment, numerous people signed in and the pen was not sanitized. Again the supervisor was full of excuses, saying that they had had the containers out but that they kept falling off the counter. read more

I've been to this place twice for Xrays. It's always packed and requires a long wait even with an appointment. Yesterday my appointment was for 130PM but I was not get seen until 230PM. It was required that I fast for 8-10 hours so I was ready to get this process done and over with so I could eat again. One of the nurses comes rushing through the lobby with a bag of food in her hand around 2:27PM. Two minutes later the same nurse calls my name to be seen. It was pretty obvious she took a long ass lunch break which caused a big delay and inconvenience. I'm glad she got to eat while I sat there starving. Only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because the ladies behind the front counter are really welcoming and friendly. read more

Do you LOVE to waste time to book an appointment, talk to someone, or just try to figure out what is going on? Then this is the place for you! I have been here many times only because my insurance makes me come here but it's ABSOLUTELY miserable trying to get an appointment or talk to someone competent at this place. The actual technicians are good but just to get through the door, make sure you have plenty to time to wait on hold, call multiple times, get some ridiculous excuse or comments about how insurance works, or get dropped while being transferred just to get back in line when calling again. I was greeted and helped by Terra, Terra Was always helpful and kept me informed on how long my wait was and was on top of finding out how long it would take to get my X-rays on the CD Staff member Terra was also able to multi task her work on the computer, having patients sign in and go to the different work stations , Covid is not slowing her down. In the X-ray room I observed everything was disinfected and clean, I'm sure it's not easy by the female Asian X-ray technician to clean with such attention to detail but it shows she cares and understands the importance of what she does.
