Mom and I enjoyed a quiet Wednesday lunch at Nori. It started with a pleasant surprise with the unique presentation of gyoza. Veggie tempura is a go-to for me and it was a good portion with a nice variety. Although it wasn't as flavorful as it looked, I still enjoyed the spicy tuna crispy rice app that i ate as a main meal. The winner, though, was mom's $20 lunch special bento. It included miso soup, salad, Cucumber salad, a tuna roll, gyoza, and nigiri. It was filling for a great price. Also, we could have eaten a huge bowl of the Cucumber salad! It was delicious! Although we didn't have any cocktails, the menu looked intriguing as well. Service was great and helpful. We just weren't blown away. Wished everything had more flavor. But, to be fair, we don't always eat at the highest quality sushi restaurants so are used to more sauces. I would still absolutely return here

We went for a quick lunch on Wednesday afternoon, this restaurant is located in the corner of high street. The ambience is intimate and upscale, it is a great place for date night or just a romantic dinner. However we sat outside for lunch, their lunch menu is pretty great but the prices are on the higher end. I went with sushi combo and it came with miso soup, salad, sushi, sashimi and more. Everything tasted fantastic, fresh and really refreshing. The fried dumpling was a little salty for me, the sushi was good but not the best. Overall a good place and had a good lunch. Service was quick and the server was very sweet.

Great food and fun service. We love coming here for super fresh sushi. The cocktails are fun and the food is always delicious. I love getting their poke bowl and edamame. We prefer to come here on "off hours" because it can get loud and bustling, but it's still a good time even then! Definitely a good date night spot

I think it might have been the server's first day. It was not good service. Servers were hanging out and talking. We had to ask for water refills. Waited for what felt like 20 min for water but it was probably 10 after he said he'd be back with water. Maybe it was just an "off" time to be there. It was around 5:30pm. We had to ask another server for wasabi and soy sauce. Other tables in our section were also out of water, so that's why it was prob his first day. I like the vibes of the place. Decor was cute. Hostess was nice. The restrooms were clean. Food was pretty good. The big eye diver was really good. I love spicy scallop rolls so this was like an improved version of it. They don't put tons of rice with it, they put enough to maximize the flavors. 10/10 would eat it again. The lollipop roll had adorable presentation. No rice in case you're watching carbs. Very fresh and perfect for hot summer days or any day for that matter. Yassss. This isn't the only place I've had it or seen it, but it's still very good. Spicy tuna. Yum, always one of my go-to's when getting sushi. Good balance, fresh tasting. Calamari: very crispy, not too greasy. I like the wasabi Mayo drizzled over it. The arugula pairing also gave a nice balance to it. Ramen: kiddo didn't love it. She liked the noodles. The broth had a good flavor but was salty af. The egg in there was good. I love a good soft egg so she gave it to me bc she's not with it. If you get it to go, and add some water to it, it'll probably be really good. It was a nice combination with the chicken and egg and mushrooms. Noodles were cooked well. Just too salty. Overall- did I like the food? Yes. Would I be back? Probably, but more so for takeout unless I was having like a girls dinner or a relaxing date. Bc yes, service annoyed me that much so I didn't get dessert here.

The fish here at Nori is so fresh! I popped in for a small lunch and ordered the sashimi lunch platter which consists of tuna , yellow fish, salmon , and white fish. I paired it with a cold glass of Sapporo and it was the perfect light meal on a sunny afternoon. Perusing the menu, I came upon the garlic bomber rice (not pictured) and I just had to try it. The combination of bacon, fish cake, Serrano pepper, eggs, and onion was perfect. Surprisingly not oily at all. It just left me wanting more. I clearly could not finish it so I had it to go. Since I was seated at the bar, the bartender was also my waiter and he was very knowledgeable of the menu. I could tell he had a great relationship with the regular customers because he even remembered their orders ! The place was not packed during lunch but the bar was definitely busy and it made the meal enjoyable. I'll definitely come back with friends and try out the other dishes on the menu!

We had a quiet lunch, the ambience was dark and peaceful, a nice break from shopping in the hot sun I shouldve taken a pic of the drink I ordered because it was so cute and delicious. This is a poke bowl, look how amazing and gorgeous it is! Top tier food. As well very fresh. The service was good, quite friendly and they let us just hang out for quite awhile. Nice place for lunch while shopping!

    Spicy Yellowtail Roll

Convenient, intimate, solid. Especially in an area with so much good sushi, I would not say I was blown away by the food. A friend and I split a spicy yellowtail roll, a rainbow roll, and an entree. Each unique bite of the rainbow roll was tremendous, but the other two dishes weren't as exciting, especially considering their prices. The orders' relative mediocrity provided an opportunity to ask myself why I still enjoyed this experience so much. In addition to amazing company ;) they were open until 11 that night - much later than most restaurants of this caliber. When we got there, the friendly host sat us immediately and quickly had a server take our orders. The dishes came out one at a time, so right as we were finishing one, the next part of the meal arrived at the table. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Tucked in the corner of what I assume is a pretty busy area, it has a clean and modern atmosphere that allows you to relax and enjoy a meal among the busy Phoenician outlets.

Sakana Trio with Boba- so fun

I was hesitant to come in because of some bad reviews but I am so glad I went anyway! Stopped in on a Thursday for happy hour. So many great happy options, including food and drinks. Definitely try the Crispy Rice. I have tried some before were the rice is stuff or chewy- this was perfection. Our favorite roll was the Sakana Trio. It came with sweet citrus Boba! How fun is that!?! We had never had sushi with Boba before. It tasted delicious and made it a little extra fun. Service was friendly and fast. The decor was beautiful. Plenty of space between tables. Overall, it was a great experience.

Sea bass with double potatoes tastes only like a potato

Ambiance is ok no one was here on Sunday. Food that's what confused me - I live sea bass but here it was so strange didn't feel like I am eating out but like I pulled out the left overs from the fridge- Sea bass with veggies and mash in miso sounded like a good plate - no don't get it here though! It is 1/2 of sea bass portion, comes in a little bowl, barely can see what they serve in there- no presentation at all- but you think it would compensate with great taste- NO- it didn't ! Veggies included sliced potatoes on top of mashed potatoes , sliced grape tomatoes , couple of onion slices and a few mushrooms- with 1/4s of brusle sprouts - nothing tasted like it had miso at all and when I dived in the mash from the bottom covered everything and all the taste was covered in more potatoes . Nahhh no impressed

We are visiting AZ and wanted to try a new sushi restaurant and found Nori on Ooen table. The restaurant is inviting, open, clean, attentive staff and friendly wait staff. The menu had a great variety and every item we ordered was delicious including the desserts- ice cream, mochi and tempura ice cream. Great location and easy stroll around the high street area.

Five stars from start to finish. Start where a review of a sushi restaurant should start...the fish was very fresh great quality pieces. They were definitely understaffed and still our table felt well attended to. Staff very pleasant working as a team to make the experience seamless. Overall a great experience Bonus: get the nigiri or the sashimi so you can really enjoy the excellent quality of fish they have to offer

    Shanika H.

Went for dinner. Cute chic vibes. Great for happy hour, date night or dinner with the fam. I love that they have a full bar you can sit at, along with the sushi bar in addition to their standard seating. Unfortunately when I went they were out of a few things I wanted to order. However the waiter was able to offer suggestions for other great menu items. Service could have been better especially since they did not appear busy or crowded. The cocktails were mediocre, but the food was fire!!! Definitely worth going back to and they have a decent happy hour menu.

Overall food was very good! The fish was fresh and everything was brought out on ice. The drinks were good. We had the espresso martini and old fashion 7/10 nothing wild. Only negative was that the staff seemed to be new because it took awhile to get service wants we sat down. The table next to us was already complaining about out waiters time at there table when we sat down. Overall not bad a bad experience.

The appetizer (bacon wrapped dates) only came with two small ones, and the fig app was even smaller they looked the size of peanut size m&m's. The main dishes were also not great, the skewers were lacking in flavor and the polenta had a weird texture. The tri tip just came out without any ask to cooking temp and was overcooked (well done). The dessert was probably the best tasting of the meal and it was nothing to write home about. Overall I would go out for the murder mystery but maybe hold out for a better menu.

To me a $30 cheese plate would not come with a container of honey mustard so I was not impressed. When I asked what cheeses were on it they told me there was 2 different cheddars. There was no way it was a cheddar it was a very soft cheese. I believe it was a goat cheese. The almonds were probably the best part of the whole platter. My husband got wings, which were very big. I've passed by Blue Martini many of times. It always seems to be the most hype spot on High Street, a nice entertainment district in Desert Ridge. I finally took the plunge and checked it out on a Thursday night around 9:30 p.m. Parking is easy (and free) on the street, in the surface lots, or the garage on High Street. Ambiance (3.5/5): Blue Martini is definitely a bit bougie and caters to that audience. There's a nice outdoor patio which is where we sat since the weather was beautiful. There's a bar outside and waiter service. I briefly looked inside and there's a bar inside too, lounge sitting, and a dance floor. Blue Martini often has live music or a DJ. Definitely a spot where you can break it down on the dance floor. There's bottle service too if that's your thing. Service (2/5): Talk about slow service! It took our waitress longer than it should have for us to greet us. After placing an order for drinks, we received them promptly. After that we didn't see her again for quite a while. I wanted to order a second cocktail and she was nowhere to be found. Eventually she came around and I placed my order. I decided to close out right then and there knowing that it would take a long time to track her down to close out if I didn't do it right then and there. They also charge two fees amounting to 5%. Not sure what that's all about. Food (N/A): While they do have food, I just had drinks since I was there pretty late. I view Blue Martini as more of a drinks spot, but I can't comment on the food. They have a daily happy hour with discounts on select food items. Drinks (3.5/5): If the name isn't a dead giveaway, Blue Martini specializes in martinis. Beyond martinis, they have a large cocktail list. Plus everything else you'd find with a full bar. The drinks are a bit pricey (it is a see and be seen type of spot after all and you're likely to see old geezers pulling up in Lambos and Ferraris), but I liked the selection. I started off with the Blue Martini, their namesake. It's served with a blue glow stick. From there, I had the strawberry basil martini. Both were pretty good. Not speakeasy quality cocktails but better than your average bar for sure. While Blue Martini isn't really my scene, I can have a good time anywhere. If you're looking to turn up and dance, it's a good spot for that. And it's also elite for people watching.

When we first walked in, the restaurant was beautifully decorated and had a great vibe, so we were excited for the evening. Unfortunately, we were seated all the way in the back, in the room where they serve breakfast. There were no decorations, no atmosphere, and it was extremely quiet compared to the lively setting we had seen when we walked in. There was also another family in the room with a screaming infant. We have kids ourselves, so we completely understand that babies cry, but combined with the lack of atmosphere, it made the experience even less enjoyable. We politely asked if we could be moved to the main dining area, but they were unable to accommodate us. Since we were there specifically to celebrate a birthday and were looking for a fun, celebratory atmosphere, we decided to leave after having one appetizer and water. This simply was not the experience we were expecting when making a reservation for a birthday celebration. If we had known we would be seated in that back room with such a different atmosphere from the main restaurant, we would have made other plans. Thankfully, the evening was saved by Kembara across the way. Based on how this place is described and marketed, we were expecting an intimate, vintage-feeling evening where we could sit down, have a cocktail, listen to jazz, and enjoy the atmosphere. That was not our experience. There were definitely things we liked. The location was great, the overall theme and decor were beautiful, the lighting created a great atmosphere, and we enjoyed the food and drinks. The service was also very good. However, the entertainment was a huge miss and completely took us out of the experience. We walked in and the band was performing "Genie in a Bottle," followed by other current/recent pop songs, Backstreet Boys songs, and "Creep." The singer was repeatedly screaming into the microphone and encouraging everyone to scream and make noise. At one point, while sitting in what is supposed to be a speakeasy, we were literally listening to him sing "creep" which is one of the most depressing songs of all time. It felt much more like being at a loud dive bar or country bar than an intimate 1920s inspired speakeasy. My biggest issue is that the entertainment did not match the experience being advertised. You can decorate a room beautifully and make it look like the 1920s, but when the soundtrack is "Genie in a Bottle," "Creep," and Backstreet Boys songs being loudly belted into a microphone, the illusion disappears pretty quickly. The noise level also made it difficult to simply sit, have a drink, talk, and enjoy the space. We specifically chose this place because we wanted that relaxed jazz/speakeasy experience, and that simply wasn't what we got. The cocktail selection was another disappointment. For a speakeasy-style bar, I expected a stronger selection of specialty bourbon and whiskey cocktails. The prices also felt excessive for the overall experience. On top of the already-high prices, we paid a $20 entertainment cover ($10 per person) specifically for the band. I wouldn't have minded paying a cover for quality live entertainment that fit the advertised atmosphere, but the artist was not particularly impressive and, more importantly, the music didn't fit the theme at all. There is a lot of potential here. The space itself is beautiful, the service was good, and they nailed many of the visual details. Unfortunately, the entertainment is such a major part of a speakeasy experience that it overshadowed everything else for us. If you're specifically looking for jazz, flapper-era music, and an authentic-feeling 1920s speakeasy atmosphere, I would not recommend this place based on our experience.
