Looks like attendant rounds up tab! This station is full-service only. However, since their posted prices were 30¢ lower than prevaling prices I went with it. Should have been forewarned! Gave the attendant $40 (expecting that would cover a full tank+) The attendant filled the tank and offered no change back. I KNOW the car needed about 11.4 gal but paid for 12.66. The net is the attendent STIFFED me on about $3+. Should have called him on it and demanded a receipt, but I prefer to think folks are honest. I always stop here after I drop off my girls at school. They are fast, efficient and clean your windows which most stations won't do anymore. I always get treated with respect here. Updated 1/27/14. I actually took it upon myself to ask some women that I know go here that work in the area and they have never had a bad experience here. They let you use your debit card as cash which most places won't, they give you a scratch off for a chance to win free gas and it is full serve at most other places self serve prices. read more

After losing my steering fluid on the northern state parkway I dropped in to Norman's to have them look at it. Within less than 24 hours I had the car repaired and the price was quite reasonable. The manager and mechanics were friendly and helpful. Second repair here (first was a radiator replacement), also fast and affordable. I highly recommend this shop. read more

Unbelievably dishonest. I brought my car in for an oil change and walked out with a bill for $260 and a warning that my car "urgently needed" about $1000 worth of repairs. I came to Norman's over the summer for a minor repair because they are within walking distance of my office. They seemed fair enough, so I brought my car there for an oil change last week. I should have read the warning signs. As I was waiting to drop off my keys, I heard one of their employees on the phone with another customer, claiming that she needed additional repairs. I could hear her say, "Didn't I just do that?" and the employee told her that she must have driven far more in the last 6 months than she thought because she definitely needed additional work done. I left my car for the oil change and went back to work. Several hours later, I got a call from Norman's saying that my car needed new front struts (quoted at $600-700), wheel bearings (quoted at about $350), and brake and power steering fluid. I chose to get the brake fluid at their quoted price ($165, which I later discovered was double the rate charged by an HONEST mechanic, Bobb Howard, located 5 minutes down the road) because I drive a lot and, despite knowing little about cars, I know brakes are important. I was concerned about the front struts because the Norman's employee told me I needed them urgently because they were "almost gone." I called Bobb Howard, where I have gotten most of my repairs done and they offered to check my car out for free. I also called the repair shop in PA where my car was inspected in June. The repair shop that did repairs along with my inspection informed me that I had gotten new front struts in June and that they last years, not months. In fact, this was the first time my 12 year old car had needed new ones. They also informed me that auto mechanics tend to tack on brake fluid system flushes as a money maker and that I probably didn't need that. When I brought my car to Bobb Howard, their mechanics told me that the front struts were almost brand new and I did not need new ones. Basically, Norman's saw a young girl with out of state plates and tried to take advantage. These are the type of people who give a bad name to auto mechanics. After getting a second and a third opinion, I can say confidently that I will NEVER bring my car to Norman's for service (or even gas) again and I wouldn't recommend them. read more

So far, the CASH rates are reasonably less than the average pricing of gas. They will pump the gas for you. Otherwise, their other services are not as comfortable for me. They asked me to leave the car in order to get an inspection done or oil change. I NEVER feel comfortable in leaving a car somewhere for something so simple unless I've become good friends with the service manager. I'd rather wait, but they wouldn't let me wait on the premise. That did not settle with me well, and so I never allowed them to touch my car. read more

When can you boast of a clean gas station bathroom? I wander here by chance (it is now a renovated BP gas station for a year.) And was astounded by a clean, maintained, swarming fly-less bathroom. The hand towel dispenser by the well lit pumps were also replenished. Even the night attendant was attentive and walked upright. I don't know these people from anything, and will likely never return, but this experience, like so many less impressive ones, motivated this review. Keep up the good work! read more

First time coming to this place. It's a nice full service has stations with workers that fill up your tank. My car was on low fuel and I paid about $30 for a full tank at $2.19 per gallon (small SUV). I took one star off for the location. It's so hard to cut thru traffic when no one wants to let you in. Although the traffic is a terror, I'll return for the kind service. read more

Very Helpful and VERY Thorough! Norman's isn't a discount chain repair shop... they are a High-Quality shop. You know the old saying... you get what you pay for - and in this case... you may pay a little more, but you get service and a place that stands behind their work. I always had used one of the coupon places from the Pennysaver to repair my car and always thought it was the car that kept breaking down.... needing brakes every 15k miles and other headaches.... Yes, the Norman job wasn't a coupon special... but with "real" parts - the brakes last and work like you'd expect for a much-MUCH longer time! Norman did give me a "What to expect list".... no pressure to do everything "today"... but with over 50k on the car.... I know what will need replacing in the next year.... Helps me decide if I will keep the car or trade it in. That's why I keep coming back.... Go to Normans and get your car fixed right the first time.... and they also Pump your gas - full service at pretty cheap prices! read more

Stopped in for Gas--thirty cents cheaper than any station around! Plus they pump it for you...the guys were the sweetest and friendliest people I've encountered in a long time. It might not be my local gas station, but I'll definitely fill up here again! read more

When going for gas the attendant said that he heard my car coming because of the noise. My car is new and has no noise. Also when I asked for air in my tires----after it was done the attendant asked for a tip. I was planning on tipping but I really didn't like to be asked. The attendants are rude and want a handout. read more

My husband and I have been taking our cars here for about 5 years (two Audi's, a Kia, and a Porsche). They are thorough, very honest, and it doesn't cost a fortune. My father is a mechanic (though 5 hours upstate from here), and while I can't always take my car to my dad to get fixed, Norman and his team are the ones we entrust with our vehicles down here. They always fit us in, and sometimes at the last minute, and still have that old-fashioned service (pumping your gas and washing your windshield, picking up/dropping off). Brought my car here for a couple of reasons as mentioned in another review or more: it was close to my job. that's important since often you may leave your car somewhere for the day during working hours until it's repaired when you can drive home. I had a few things done over a couple of days. i had an oil change done, and had a windshield washer motor replaced (part needed to be ordered.) staff are friendly and the place is busy both as a gas station and auto mechanic shop. I was warned by a few at my workplace "hey, Norman's is pricey, go elsewhere." since i figured i'm only having a few minor things done no big deal. the work was done to my satisfaction and sure, the price was higher than i have paid elsewhere. i made the choice and needed this fixed due to convenience. ask questions, agree on a price or simply go elsewhere to pay a bit less. it's all up to you . oil $ 24, $10 labor?!, $12.95 for an oil filter. this was regular oil not premium. i can and have had a premium oil change for $50 -75$ elsewhere (i have receipts) and this regular oil change was $50 when most are 20-25$ with labor included. i've never seen a bill for labor on an oil change as an additional fee. just something you'd want to know upfront so ask. how much is an oil change? avoid any issues. read more

Norman & Doug like to give a detailed explanation of why they did what they did to my car. Sometimes the explanations are a bit lengthy. But I love them anyway. read more

They actually presented the case why repairing a non-essential accessory was not recommended. The cited the cost would be astronomical for my make and year. They pointed out that I only drove locally. I realized from our discussion that in 14 years, I only used the accessory about 5 times. They pointed out that it doesn't effect safety and isn't required to pass inspection. My final bill was app 10-20% of what it might have been if they insisted on doing the repair. Also I would have required a rental car until the parts were found and installed. People should understand they are a very busy station, so nothing will be done immediately. read more
