Me and my boys were in Napa today and we happened to be in the area so we looked up good eats on Yelp and found this place. What caught my eye was their Taco Tuesday specials and today just happens to be Tuesday! We came in early evening, just before the dinner rush and apparently this is a very popular local bar and grill. Most of their customers were regulars, I could tell. It felt warm and comfortable inside and it had a very community feel in there. I was observing how the server conversed with every customer and she was so kind and attentive. She was very helpful to me in suggesting some of their popular menu items. We got the fish tacos, the shrimp tacos, the lamb sliders, Brussels sprouts, grilled tri-tip, the flautas and the empanadas. I would say my personal favorites were the grilled tri-tip, the Brussels sprouts and the empanadas. The Brussels sprouts were lightly crispy and chewy but absorbed all the roasted shallot vinaigrette, so it was a nice umami bite every time. The tri-tip was cooked like I like it (I don't like my beef bloody, sorry, not sorry). It was so flavorful thanks to the black truffle compound butter! Omg! It was delicious! The empanadas were lightly crispy and came with a really good chipotle crema sauce and I was dipping my empanada in that sauce because it really complemented the chicken tinga filling and crispy cornmeal crust. My oldest son loved the fish tacos. They were so crispy and loaded. My youngest son loved the lamb sliders. They were tasty and had a slight smokiness but the rosemary aioli brought it all together for me. It was such a nice touch. Overall, based on the outstanding service we received and the delicious food, I would highly recommend this place if you're in Napa. We live in the East Bay, but whenever I come to Napa, I will remember to stop here to get some good eats! The staff was also friendly and super sweet! read more

Went for late night bites and had a tea, grilled oysters, the clams dish, fish tacos, and the gambas! Everything was pretty good and flavorful, so I will definitely give North Bar the kudos on that! Went here in between tastings. On Sundays, they serve the menu from the Sunset breakfast place next door which was fine. My friend was able to modify his burger as needed, I had the fish and chips, and my wife had the Mac n cheese. The Mac n cheese was sensational. The fish and chips were also amazing. This was my first time going here but didn't know this place is owned by the same owner of the Sunshine Cafe (excellent breakfast place). The portions of the food is big enough to share. I shared my mixed green salad with my husband and girlfriend and still had enough to get filled. I had one chicken slider from my husband's plate and he was full after his one slider. The service was awesome and we were treated well. We had our dogs but it was great to eat outside (great spring weather). Just knownthat when the sun goes down it gets chilly. I loved the service since I got here it was a great welcoming for my first time. I came for happy hour and to take advantage of taco Tuesday. I had Carne asada tacos and their Baja fish, I wasn't so impressed with the asada tacos but the fish tacos were amazing! Must try and the margaritas were awesome too. read more

North Bar & Grill is a great locals' hangout spot. It shares a kitchen with the ever-popular Sunshine Cafe next door, so you know the food is going to be great. Try to stop by for happy hour, when you'll get great deals like $5 draft beer, $5 chips and guacamole and $8 street tacos. Side tip: The North Coast Belgium Amber is high ABV and delicious. My husband got the tri tip sandwich, which was massive. The fries that came with it were really good. Textured and nicely crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I got the chicken empanadas, which were listed under the small plates section. It's very flavorful. I would have preferred maybe a baked empanada over fried because it got a little oily, but it was still good! A fellow diner recommended that we try the BBQ ribs next time. He said they're "hands down," the best in town. We'll take his word for it and try the ribs next time! read more

We found this place from a random search from Yelp and based on 5 star reviews, we decided to stop here after our napa/wineries day! The place looks very nondescript from outside but charming decor inside and it was quite busy at 5pm on a sunny Tuesday! The bartender was great and very knowledgeable about various wines so we took her recommendation and tried the house cabrenet, which was good! We tried a few of the food options as they are a tapas type restaurant! I think this is where they missed the mark with me! Half shell oysters! while the oysters were fresh, the lack of standard sides such as horseradish, cocktail sauce, vinegar or lemon wedges was disappointing! The orange slices added a sweet touch! I love olives so tried the warm trio of olives and they tasted like they were microwaved as the skin was wilted which made for a very poor taste! Lastly, the fish tacos were absolutely flavorless and we couldn't even finish them and frankly Rubio's makes better tacos then this place read more

My husband and I went to try the burger. Got the North Burger. Delicious. The duck fat fries were great too. The house white today (on happy hour menu) was Peju's Sauvignon Blanc. The server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The noise level is a bit high inside, but there are six or so outdoor tables, so we sat outside. This was my first outing in Napa. I was immediately greeted by Lori who was making sure I got my happy hour order in. I have never tried oyster Rockefeller but I would come back for more. I had a Friday afternoon to kill a little time and decided to try North Bar & Grill's Happy Hour. North Bar is located in a little shopping center with CVS. I guess I arrived at prime happy hour because the place was packed. Fortunately I found a seat near the door. Shortly afterwards someone came over to take my order. I wanted to try something off the Happy Hour menu and went with the Sliders & Pint for $12. Beer came out pretty quickly and sliders shortly after. Beer was nice and cold and hit the spot. Sliders were literally bite size small but flavorful. Since I wasn't ravenous it was enough to top me off till dinner. North Bar is a nice neighborhood bar. My husband and I decided to try this place on a Friday night. It was crowded around 7:30pm but lucky enough some folks left and we snag a bar table inside. The place is not very big and they also have outside seating. If you are a fan of comics, a trip to the bathroom is A MUST. We ordered a few small plates... brussel sprouts, chicken meatballs, gambas and oysters. All was very delicious except that the oysters were Ok. I won't get it again next time. Also the gambas while only 3 shrimps were very big and the added polenta is tasty. Overall we had a great time and service is fantastic. Wow... Was this ever a great burger and the french fries were incredible! And maybe even better than both of those was our server, Rebecca! What a doll and so efficient... I asked her her name and she told me and then asked me what my name was and called me it through the whole dinner! Who does that?? I felt like I was a dinner guest at her house! I had been wanting to come here for a while since I have heard good things about this place. Finally came in on a Wednesday to try it out. For a Wednesday, they were packed. We were told to sit in a free table. My friend and I decided to try out the drink of the day, which was called "empress for a day" it was gin with berry and lime and it was beautiful and delicious. We ordered brussel sprouts for the table and they came with polenta, they were yummy. My friend had the cali burger and I had the North burger. We both liked our food. First off had the Pear Salad and Goat Cheese Fritters. Recommend going half on the salad to share. Both were so flavorful and light. Second course had the Tri Tip Panini and Red Roasted Potatoes. The Tri Tip was by far my favorite and the potatoes did not disappoint! 3rd course was the Chorizo Empanadas. Loved the spice in the sauce. Would recommend getting on the side so it doesn't soak the flaky crust, but it was still so good. Lastly, Rebecca recommended the carrot cake for dessert. Interesting experience here Monday night. Food & drink hands down 5 stars for a local unassuming place! We had a server who was doing a great job, but a female kept over shadowing him & inserting herself into him doing his job. Whatever, she & I just weren't compatible after she was annoyed with my 2 questions. 1. Is the ranch dressing homemade or from a bottle 2. Is the margarita made with lime juice or a pre bottle mix She didn't appreciate my questions. I was happy to learn dressing is homemade & margarita is made with lime juice. Both were good! The other thing to note: Monday nights are burger nights. Meaning the regular menu IS NOT AVAILABLE. They do have a Veggie burger & a chicken sandwich available for those folks not wanting beef. Same Female wanted us out of the restaurant faster than we wanted, we drove 45 minutes to meet up with our cousins, we wanted to have more beers & chat. We're not trying to leave in 30 minutes. She gave us our bill abruptly, we gave it back to our server & ordered more beers & another margarita. He added the 3 drinks to tab gave it back. She then snatched it back up & added a Guinness we tried to order but they were out of..... She was tripping. So our server had to fix that tab. So, will we come back? There's nothing more All-American than a Cheeseburger. I'm looking for a Napa style Cheeseburger. I went with The Forager. 1/2 pound of Beef, Mushrooms, no Bacon, my favorite Swiss Cheese, Truffle Aioli, additional Caramelized Onions, Bakery Bun, and Fries. The Beef was Beefy. All the other ingredients accentuated it. The Bun was so pillowlike. The Fries were amazing, crunchy and just the right texture. I also can't forget about the Ginger ale. It was a House-made Ginger ale, this was the first Ginger ale I had that actually tasted like Ginger to me. I give this 4.2 stars. read more

Food can be pretty heavy/oily (I often ask for bread not to be griddled, etc.) but there is a great variety on the menu and the different happy hour deals during the week keep it interesting, especially if you go fairly often like I do. Friendly and attentive staff and I've seen the manager, Reba, handle a tough customer in a calm and professional manner that really impressed me. I can only add to the glowing praise this small restaurant is getting. We ate here for the first time last night, as locals to this spot we were incredibly thrilled to discover that it's fantastic! We ordered: Lamb sliders, empanadas, haricot verts and Brussels sprouts with polenta. All four dishes were outstanding, displaying a finesse in technique as well as smart choices of balanced, complimentary ingredients. As regular restaurant diners we've come to expect that usually one or two out of four dishes at a restaurant we've not been to will be a little or a lot disappointing. Not the case at North, all four dishes we had were excellent. Cocktails were spot on as well, and service was prompt and attentive without being overbearing, which is always appreciated. First things first.... They got the good fries. You know the ones that are lightly battered and crispy? We went on a Monday for burger night. We knew upon choosing it was burger night but didn't realize that meant only burgers. We almost left after learning that but I'm so glad we stayed. The burgers were very well made. I appreciate when a burger ordered medium is actually medium. That being said if you don't want squishy pink go well done. The service was prompt and professional but nothing above and beyond.
