What a disappointment. Like many of the other reviewers I was dissappointed with the massage. They focused a lot on my butt. I kept asking her to focus on my back and shoulders but she kept massaging my butt. I felt very uncomfortable. And at the end when paying they stand there with dirty looks until you give a tip. I had the WEIRDEST massage ever here. The way they pull down your underwear halfway to give you a lower back massage was...surprising. Don't get me wrong-I love a good butt massage so I wouldn't be uncomfortable with that at all...but this was just weird. Not inappropriate or anything...just weird. Their services may talk about foot massages, but you get MUCH more than that! For an hour you get to relax in a quiet, softly lit community room (about 7 tables in the room), listen to soothing spa music and have your tensions melt away. The Foot and Body massage begins with you laying on a comfy massage bed (fully clothed) with your feet in a basin of warm water. They usually begin with your head and face, move to the neck and shoulders and then legs and arms. Feet are the last body part while you are on your back. Then you flip over and your shoulders, back, hamstrings and calves get attention. We have had couples massages too with rock stones. The masseuse is in constant communication with you making sure you are comfortable and agree with the amount of pressure being used. This is our go-to for relaxation. No updated reviews, so here you go. This place is still a joke. Their sheets are dirty and ripped. First, they are rude as hell and do not have any idea how to greet their customers. Second... They walk in without knocking, CoCo is doubtfully even a licensed therapist and absolutely no therapeutic techniques at all. She literally gets up on the table and sits on you! Lol. She uses her elbows and rarely her hands, and when I told her she was applying too much pressure and hurting me, she laughed! After having nearly an entire bottle of oil poured on me, I should have done the right thing and told her I was done. Stupid me,... I thought I could stick it out. Needless to say, after she put hot rocks on my back without checking to see if I was ok with the temp, that was icing on the cake. I have blisters on my back from the burns and will never go this place again. Waste your money and go to massage envy instead.... At least THEY used licensed massage therapist. Lol. read more

I went in for the 1 hour foot reflexology massage and only about 10 minutes of it was on my feet. Very rude staff there. I was in the area shopping and stopped in to schedule an appointment for a massage as I had a gift certificate. They stated that it was expired ( I had not seen the expiration date). I explained that I had been out of the area for some time and did not know that it would expire (it was expired only by a few days). They were very rude and told me it was not good and they would not honor it. I asked if they would reconsider since it was only a few days and that I was also interested in purchasing another one as a Christmas gift for a friend. They continued to be rude in their tone and body language and refused. They did not care that someone had paid for it and was out that money. Per California Law it is not legal to have an expiration date on a Gift Certificate except for under certain circumstances, none of which applied to the certificate I have. I would not patronized this establishment mainly due to the rudeness and the way they handled the interaction. I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

Came here first time. They have a fare price for an hour back and foot massage.. I had a baaaaad back problem for 2 weeks now. Before I could say anything my therapist told me my back feels so tired after he pressed it for at least twice. He focused on my back. I swear it was not very pleasant at all. As he was pressing it I felt all the pain. BUT I loved it. Coz for me it meant that he knew the bad spots and try to focus on it. After 3 hrs I've never felt any better.. I have received about 12 "1 hour foot massages" (19.99 at one time) and, yes you get more body than feet, but I just tell them no face...and point to upper back and FEET FEET....THEY GET IT....love their elbow and forearm techniques on my upper back....TOO DIE!!! The "community room" is fine because it is very calm, quiet and large enough....Price is right and I always tip $20 bucks or so because it is, for me, always well deserved. I can honestly say this was the most uncomfortable experience of my life. I had never had a massage before and my mom had given me certificate for a one hour massage so I thought there was nothing to lose. First of all I walk in and no one's there. I went with my boyfriend and we waited for a while not even knowing if they were even open. Finally a man comes out and stares at us. He doesn't say hi or anything he just stares. Finally we ask if he worked there and said we wanted to have massages. He went over pricing which was kind of hard to understand with his thick accent but we could read the signs so we took care of that. He then took us into the room and told us to undress for the massage.We started to get undressed and the guy walked in WITHOUT KNOCKING. That's not okay, I was wearing a bra but I don't want anyone to just see me like that without warning. Another thing was that there were only two people there one man and one woman and they never introduced themselves and overall just made us feel so uncomfortable. They didn't even ask if we had a preference because I would've preferred the woman. But no, they just started without a word. These people have no sense when it comes to people. I was already uncomfortable at this point so I left my bra on and then the man started to take my bra off without warning and I was too shocked to even tell him to stop. Then the actual massage happened which was super uncomfortable. TWICE he left to answer the door and he also let his phone ring and checked a message during the massage which I didn't mind considering I didn't like it one bit. At one point both of them left and my boyfriend told me how uncomfortable his massage was too. Then they come back and we lay down again and WITHOUT ANY WORD they put hot rocks on our backs. They didn't ask us if we could feel them and say if they were too hot, they just did it and it burned. Finally skip to the end, my boyfriend and I know that we didn't enjoy it at all, we knew the service was horrible, and knew we would not be coming back. To my knowledge if you have a horrible experience or service you don't tip but they FORCED us to tip. We didn't even argue because we were completely done with these people and they probably wouldn't have understood us anyway. read more

I purchased a Groupon in April and when I went in to redeem it, found out that it was only good on certain days of the week. I said I would still like a massage that day and asked if I could use the Groupon later. I was told I could. I went in today to set up the appointment and was told it was not valid because I was not a first time customer. When I asked if I could transfer the value of the Groupon for the service, I was told I could not and that I needed to work with Groupon if I wanted my money back. I will never go back to this spa. I had been getting reflexology for over a year at Dr. Tsai's and then his reflexologist left--- so I have been hunting to find a new place. I tried 2 other places just across the street and both were more expensive and quite frankly I was not satisfied with the quality of the reflexology. Third time is a Charm at North County Spa! You must try! This is not your typical 'high end spa" but it is Authentic Asian Reflexology and message. They have a shared room with about 12 brand new message tables in a row in dimly lit room. A relaxing waterfall and gentle music playing in the background. Many of the therapists do not speak English however the front Office Manager, Rita, speaks perfect English and can translate if you have instruction that you need to communicate. Private message rooms for full body message also available. I went with the reflexology/body combo for only $19.95 for a full hour. It was wonderful just incredible. My therapist had to work hard to get the knots out of my back, he was the real deal and used various techniques: deep tissue, thai message and even some shiatsu at the end. The reflexology was far superior than other places I have been. I loved the Sutra Chanting to help me relax as well. I was so impressed I purchased their 6 pack for only $100 (buy 5 and get 6th for free). I have found my home:) Only lost one star because the décor is not what you would expect of full spa. They do offer hot stone treatments for free with full body message and have aromatherapy messages for $55. Incredible prices. Well worth your next visit. read more

I went to north county spa yesterday as I was given a gift certificate from a friend. When I walked in I first noticed how badly it smelled and how it didn't seem very clean but since it was a gift and I was already there I figured I would go for it. What a mistake! This was by far the worst massage I've ever gotten. The girl was so rough that it hurt from beginning to end. I kept saying ouch but she didn't ease up. Immediately afterwards my back was all swollen, I couldn't sleep last night as I kept waking up in pain. I highly recommend you stay away from this place. This morning my back looks like I've been run over by a truck. It's so painful, bruised and all red. I won't be going back here and suggest nobody else does either. read more

Hidden gem close to the mall. I want to say that right off the start that it was a very relaxing experience for a couples massage. Sean and his staff were very accommodating due to the fact I have bad acid reflux and made me comfortable with my full body massage. Pricing is very fair for the quality of service! I'm 9 months pregnant and I got to sit/lay at an incline for most of it, and at the very end I sat hugging pillows with my elbows on my knees while he worked on my shoulders and back. I recently purchased a gift certificate here and just so happened to check my account a few days later and seen an additional charge of $75 from North County Spa of Carlsbad, CA. I called them to see why they charged me again and they stated "they charged me the wrong amount so charged me again" I WAS NOT THERE TO AUTHORIZE THIS PURCHASE. They just took it upon themselves to use my card information to do as they pleased. This is not legal what so ever! I asked to speak to the owner of the establishment and I apparently was speaking to this rude individual. Please try at all costs to not use your card here if at all possible. I made a fraud/dispute claim through my bank and will be getting my money back. It's not the dollar amount that matters but what sort of establishment charges a customer without their knowledge and tries to justify it. DO NOT GO HERE and if you do keep an eye on your account. I do not doubt their services reading the reviews of this place but as far as professionalism and a level of trust you have for establishments utilizing your information... im left speechless. Have been coming here for years, always been a fan. For an inexpensive way to unwind from the work week. The most popular massage is the Reflexology or foot message - It is Full body massage with your clothes on for $29.00/60 min. Everyone is in a communal room, about 10 massage chairs, relaxing music playing, dim lights. It starts with soaking your feet in a warm water bath, while the masseuse (man or woman) massage your scalp, face, arms, then they move on to your feet and legs, flip you over and massage your back side. Under new ownership for the past several months - which is a good thing as they have all new massage chairs, it is a faux leather material which can be wiped down, the previous ones were cloth - which gave me the HeBeeGeeBees. I talked with the owner and he said they passed their Health Inspection Review and are following the Health Inspection Guidelines! It definitely seems cleaner. It is not the Omni La Costa Resort - but neither are their prices, you get what you pay for. Most of the staff speak Mandarin- but there is generally one person who speaks English if you have any special requests. Well worth the money. They offer other types of messages available as well. And a discount -buy 4 massages- get one free. read more

I will keep going back the only downfall is a smell back in the bathroom area like some plumbing issue but otherwise everything is great and seems very clean. I'm baffled by the number of 4 and 5 star reviews. I've had a good number of massages before, and this was the only time I didn't feel comfortable - to the point that I seriously considered getting up and leaving during the massage. I question whether the person who did my massage was licensed or not. The receptionist took me straight back to the room and told me to get undressed and the massage therapist would be in. I've never thought about it before, but now I understand why professional massage therapists greet you before your massage - it's awkward to not know who is working on you, but I could have looked past that. The drape was a towel, instead of a sheet, but ok, whatever. However, usually the massage therapist keeps the drape over your body, unless they are working on that specific area. That was not the case here, to the point that I felt uncomfortable and chilly. The massage itself was just ok, more like an untrained friend than a trained professional. I know that there are different styles, this lacked cohesion or technique, and really didn't do much for my muscles or relaxation. I didn't get any warning before she put hot stones on my back, and she didn't ask for any feedback on how hot they were (which was uncomfortably hot). It was a bizarre, uncomfortable experience.
