This is quite a road trip from seatac and worth it not only is the location quite peaceful but the beer / Pizza / root beer is excellent.

I notice that most of the negative reviews of this restaurant mention lackluster customer service. On our visit, it was a bit meh (not really that cheerful or pleasant, and more perfunctory). Pizza was okay, the crust was too soft, and slice was overall kind of limp. Prices: for 18in pizza House meat pizza, and three sodas, price was $48 (including 20% tip). Not sure this was worth it, but when you're out in the sticks, the prices can be a bit higher. Did not try the beer, but from the looks of the other customers drinking it, I am sure it is very good. I asked for a coke or pepsi, and was told they only have Hansen's cane sugar soda. Would have preferred a Coke or Pepsi. read more

I really really want to love this place! I have lived down the road for 5 years. But they never once had any of my pick up orders ready on time. Today was pretty bad. I ordered my food 1 1/2hrs early, to insure they would have plenty of time to make it. After I arrived it was obvious they lost my ticket, they said I will be just a bit longer. 29min later I went in to see what the hell is going on. I then found out that my food was made and had been sitting there forever. Got home and the pizza was Luke warm and the spinach and artichoke was cold and horrible. They offer me a free beer that I turned down. I much rather had a discount on my food that took them a grand total of 2 f@$@ hours. Unfortunately this place just keep on getting worse. This is an amazing pizza place/beer shrine. Their pizzas are really great. Their steamer clams are a great choice! Homemade rootbeer is a treat. We have enjoyed eating there many times. It is worth the drive out the Mt. Baker scenic byway. The regular menu is already great, but don't forget to ask about the daily specials! (They also have beer specials) Being a brewery, they have an extensive knowledge of the brews they are serving and what would pair well with your food choice. If you are feeling adventurous (and not the driver) try the barley wine. The atmosphere is friendly and comfortable. They are also a wedding chapel, and have an ordained minister on site for such occasions. With the nostalgic decor, amazing food, and great beer choices, this would be an excellent choice for relaxing and enjoying a great meal. read more

Picked up a pizza (small = 12") and Caesar salad to go. I opted for the special, which had a garlic cream cheese base and was topped with spinach, jalapeños, parmesan, mozzarella and bacon. Absolutely divine. They nailed this recipe, and the crust was perfectly golden. The salad was wonderfully fresh (no wilted or suspicious-looking Romaine, which is a big deal for me), and I was surprised to find the dressing was made from scratch! Way, way out in the woods. If you live in Seattle and you're not heading up to Baker or Bham already for some other reason, keep that in mind. You can make a really pretty winding drive of it by coming up 9, or you can cover ground quickly up 5. But either way you'll be making a bit of a road trip of it. The setting is really nice--winding road leading out into the foothills. Nice rustic cabin look to the place, sitting under what seems like an infinite carpet of conifers. Inside feels like a combination between a large mountain cabin and a classic roadhouse. It's clean and well-kept, and there are tons of young families around in addition to a nice mix of beer hounds and weary travelers. They let you know right up front that they make their own beer--besides the name, the first window you can see in as you walk up is the brew room. They actually have a decent sized system and can certainly churn out enough kegs to keep the locals and skiers happy almost indefinitely. The beer is solid. Make sure you ask ahead of time which beers are on nitro--if you dig that Guiness-like pour that settles, you'll be glad to figure out which ones have it. If not (like me) you'll be glad to steer toward others. The pizzas are pretty killer. Thin, crackery crust with just enough chew to them. Nice cornmealy taste to the surface of the bread. Perfect crust IMO. Great toppings. They take a little while but it's worth it. Good appetizers too--dug the clams, great seasonings added to them. There are tons of old beer ads and bottles everywhere, lots of historical artifacts from the beer business. One of the coolest things about this place is being able to walk out into the back patio, which is 21+, and eat off a tree stump for a table. Very relaxed setting with lawn chair seating. This is one of those places that can't be designed or put together. It has to just happen over time with all the little quirky personal touches that accumulate when someone opens a business that locals and travelers alike can enjoy. On the way up to Mt. Baker, my friends pointed this place out. It would be our reward for backpacking in the rain - great pizza for lunch Sunday. All weekend I anticipated pizza, and worried that maybe it would not be open. Also, what if it couldn't live up to my heightened expectations? There was nothing to worry about. Not only was it open, the pizza was everything I was hoping for...large, covered with delicious things, a thin crispy crust that did not get soggy (not even the piece I brought home), and just wonderful. We shared a big old salad while we waited, and it was perfect...fresh and bountiful. Best of all was the beer...I had a wheat wine that was just splendid, and just the thing after getting out of the woods exhausted and sore. Alas, while you can bring many of their house brewed beers home, the high-alcohol grain wines are not for purchase to go. I really loved the atmosphere of this place, too. Beautiful stained glass, collections of antique beer bottles, and fun old ads are everywhere. They had the Seahawks game on the TV, but much to my joy, the sound was off and instead we got to listen to a delightful assortment of old time country hits. If this place was in my neighborhood, I would go here all the time. But instead, now I just have a reason to do more hikes around Mt. Baker. read more

A great mid way stop for quality, fun, fresh beer and cider with hearty pizza to match. My family lives close, so it's an easy stop for us all to go celebrate something or grab a bite without totally making a full trip out. Liked the selection of beverage options, liked that parking was pretty straightforward and fairly plentiful. Liked the friendliness of the folks there. Warm, cheerful, helpful and the exact level of light attentiveness I want. Really interesting decor- ahem- it IS a beer shrine. A little dark, but that's not too bad. On the less side, it was fairly spendy and a little chilly. On such a sunny day I was wishing for outside seating. They were right in the middle of the timeline for speed of service, which didn't bug me at all. I had to go with salads and veggie stuff, being dairy/meat free was definitely a bummer. It can get a bit loud, but it's Deming- who cares? A great option instead of Chair 9 or that Italian Ruffigios or something place. I'll be back. And I'll bring friends. read more

The atmosphere was the best part of North Fork. The pizza looked really good, and the wait to get seated suggested that was the case. The pizza was over-cooked and under-toppinged. The beer (I had Hair of the Frog, a barleywine) was a letdown. Service was average, although the woman behind the bar was extremely harried as she seemed to do everything but cook and bus tables, including (probably) training a new employee. That said, the interior was really cool. Lots of old beer paraphernalia on the walls, showcases of beer bottles, a treat for the eyes. I'd go back again to try other beers and see if the questionable pizza was a one-off or typical fare (it really did look good). read more

The former owners (those who established the place initially) were close friends with my now deceased parents. We always had so much pride for the amazing ambiance and delicious food they provide there. The new owners have done an excellent job maintaining the quality without altering much of what the neighborhood and tourists have cherished for so long. The Irish Stout was so good, I actually almost cried. That could be the best pint I have ever had. Certainly up in my top two!!! The Pizza is "East-Coast pizza snob" approved. I had the Fish and Chips and it is 100% "English person" approved. Both got the double thumbs up. We will trek out from Seattle to eat here again, and do some (henceforth) incidental mountain climbing, to excuse the journey. In short , this place is amazing and a total hidden gem. What a cozy little place! Warm welcomes and happy, polite service. This was a great place to stop in for dinner. I had never been, and so I was very pleased with the atmosphere and overall experience. They have a large selection of their own beers and also served a delicious cider that is made locally. For three adults we ordered a small ceasar salad (which we were able to split into 3 large portions) and a large veggie pizza (with tomatoes and salami on one half) and we were very well fed at the end with one large slice of pizza to take home. They're rude and clearly don't care about clientele/repeat business. Guess when you're the only game in town near a ski mountain, you can get away with not caring. I ordered carry-out and apparently they were 'too busy' to call to tell me they decided to cancel our order, so they emailed me 30 minutes after I ordered, but I was driving there so I did not get the email. It took me 10 minutes to have a person talk to me, and he was so rude the other clients around me were visibly bothered. 10 minutes later, they finally tell me they canceled my order with no explanation. Verbatim, 'Out of my hands, next time, check your email.' Then they turned and walked away from me. If they're busy, expect them to be grumpy and rude. Can't comment on the food or beer. Would have liked to. Won't come back. If the staff treats people like they are an annoyance then they won't get my money. read more

Hey, this place is pretty yummy! I'm a bit picky when it comes to these types of pizza places. Usually the top is burnt and the bottom is soggy. Not here though! The flavor of my the crust was yummy and it was perfectly crispy. The guy working the pizza oven knows his stuff! We love the North Fork when en route from Bellingham to Mt Baker! The place is unassuming from the outside yet cozy and quaint on the inside. Their beer list (made on site) is impressive to say the least. They do a lot of interesting sours, and their IPA(s) and barley wine are top notch. Bring a clean growler to have filled after your meal. The pizza is fantastic and we usually share a house salad with honey vinaigrette and steamer clams. Everything is fresh and delicious. Sit at the bar to get the best service. Sometimes there's a wait out the door but it's worth it especially with nothing else around. read more

Excellent brewery and pizza place! North Fork Brewery is in an area kind of all by itself. The closest city is Bellingham. The drive from there isn't too bad and isn't too long however. Steve and I got their American Wheat Beer which was very refreshing and very pleasant for relaxation. We got a great pizza here, kind of one with "everything on it" their equivalent to what I usually call a supreme pizza. Delicious! The wait was a little long to get waited on and to get our food but overall not too bad. The place was very busy. It's good to see it being so popular! I believe the road that goes through Deming and right past here goes to Artist Point which I hear is beautiful... I didn't make it that far... at the time I was there the road wasn't open yet. But I'm sure this place gets even more hoppin once it does. There are a couple unusual features here at this place... for one there is a beer shrine here which is kind of fun to see and I guess there is a wedding chapel in the back of the place. Though it sounds a bit quirky I could see it being a hit. You have great food and beer right at your finger tips. I really look forward to coming back again! read more

Oh, my stars! This homey restaurant, housed in a 100 year old building on the side of the road near Maple Falls is an incredible find. Their beer is made on the premises, and it is beyond delicious. And the pizza....wow. The best crust I've ever encountered, period. Toppings were fresh and plentiful. I was so happy to see that North Fork has vegan cheese. This was my 4th time here. WHY? I"m not anxious to go back. I too expect a lot concerning the pizza here because several people have said it was good. NO not the best in the area. And what area are we talking about! I know good pizza and this is not it. The guy w/ the wood fired pizza oven @ the Ferndale farmers market makes better pizza. Crust is mediocre. Not much flavor and kind of what I like to call a cardboard taste. Just standard....NOT exceptional. Once you've had GOOD pizza crust you know. I think there are a lot of people that have not had authentic pizza. Is this better than Dominos....well yeah Better than Papa Johns?...well yes.....better than Little Ceasars?....well I will say yes. Is THAT something to brag about....NO. Look what we have to compare it to. I do like the ambiance and the beer as well as the location. That is about it. Service is just okay. Prices are high for the quality which is just okay. Yes I admit that when you walked in we were playing an I Spy game and my 4 year old was amused you weren't the brown boot we were seeking, but I assure you that his laughing at you was not maliciously intended to trigger some deep-seated painful memories from grade school. He was you know, being four and stuff. The "Are you going to point and laugh at people? That's not nice." Was a strange mix of sad and annoyingly overstepping. Enjoy the $2. Walking into this mountain lodge style country pub, you'd swear that you were transported back to the 1950's - where all the beers are on tap and the only cooking apparatus is a pizza oven. Sipping their great micro-brews while listening to old Beatles and The Who songs gives you a chance to peruse the extensive collection of antique beer bottles and advertising on the walls while you reminisce about the outdoor adventures of the day. While I don't eat pizza, the quality of the bread and ingredients used in their sandwiches and calzones illustrates the extra care that they put into their food. For example, the "best chicken sandwich" contains chicken breast, freshly chopped green pepper, mushrooms, romaine lettuce, tomatoes and Parmesan cheese stuffed inside of a soft poor boy style bread. This concoction is then toasted inside of the pizza oven to heat the contents but keep the bread soft on the inside. Their "east-coast style grinders" are prepared in similar fashion; be advised that my dining companion (who hails from New Jersey) said that they are nothing like what you get on the east coast - the quality of the meat in their grinders is simply too good to be authentic. If you are especially hungry, order one of their calzones as they absolutely huge. You'll have to wait an extra 20 minutes of cooking time for the privilege. The highlight of this place is the beer. They make some seriously good brews! The selection rotates but I am particularly fond of the Scottish Ale. I like to take a growler with me to go because for some reason the second and third glass taste even better than the first! North Fork Brewery is a great choice if you are looking to participate in some liquid relaxation after a tough day skiing, snowboarding or hiking Mt. Baker. read more

As a local I've been frequenting the North Fork several times a year during ski season and have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The beer has been average at best until now. Holy smokes their new brewer, Eric, is one talented fellow! Their core beers are all great and seem to draw plenty of interest alone, but some of the smaller batch beers are where the North Fork has a chance to become a true beer destination. Recently had their Black Cherry Sour and will be back if they brew up another batch. I hope that the owners see the value in letting their brewer get creative and appealing to a wider range of beer lovers. read more

Dinner was the garden salad and slices of their combination and another style. (I forget the name of the second style. I was pleased to find whole cloves of garlic on it, though!) To drink, I had a glass of the Hefeweizen and their home-brewed root beer. All aspects were tasty and pleasing, but none were over-the-top. Particularly, their pizza didn't age well, with the third slice suffering from a damp and sloppy crust. On the other hand, I'm happy to support any place that serves its own root beer! read more

Love this place! Yes it's busy sometimes, and yes, sometimes the servers are too busy to hang out at your table and lick your boots (because of the whole... Busy thing) but the food is awesome, the beer is fantastic (Scotch ale? Yes please!) and the staff always seems friendly and knowledgeable. Don't be put off by the few bad reviews - if you want to be in and out in twenty minutes then you may want to consider another restaurant, but quality food and brew are (in my opinion) always worth the wait. Also, although this place is definitely not anti- children, I find myself unreasonably annoyed by the reviewer who felt that her four year old didn't receive the proper attention. It's a brewery. My favorite pizza in the county! Great beer and root beer as well. The Hefeweizen is my go-to favorite, but the Kriek is my other favorite! The spicy pizza and the Pineapple Express pizza are excellent, and the Caesar salad is a great starter. A small is plenty for two people! No cell service or wifi, so you actually have to talk to your tablemates. North Fork is definitely worth the drive out! read more
