Beautiful ambiance, impeccable well trained and attentive service and delicious meals. However, the portions were a bit small for the price.

Beautifully understated, meticulously restored and updated inn and restaurant with contemporary touches, we had a magnificent Mother's Day dinner (our first time here) and we were very impressed. We started off with great cocktails -- I had their version of a Manhattan which was amazing. Usually "prix fixe" menus present low hanging options -- our choices were not only interesting but every dish was beautiful and delectable. The desserts (especially their Strawberry Pavlova) bowled us over. The service was impeccable, attentive, friendly and every person who stopped by our table made us feel special and very welcome. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back.

If you're looking for a place where your wallet loses weight faster than you do, this is it! The ambiance is swanky, the service was great, and the food tasted good--but the menu? Peak pretension. Cocktails are $25, and yet my Old Fashioned was made with Maker's Mark--bold choice for top-shelf prices. The lamb belly came with a "hen" egg (what other kind of egg would it be--rooster? Just call it an egg), and the $18 apple tart? Two bites. Blink and you'll miss it. Speaking of unforgettable experiences, you're greeted by a mysterious sulfuric fart cloud at the entrance. Welcome to fine dining, I guess? On the bright side, the butternut squash side dish was the star of the show (and ironically the most reasonably priced item). But $22 for mac and cheese? I didn't realize I needed to take out a loan for comfort food. All in all, it's a nice spot if you want to feel fancy--but be prepared to pay a premium for tiny portions and menu descriptions that require a thesaurus.

My husband and I recently had dinner here for the first time w friends, knowing his sister's family much preferred it under previous management -- but wanted to give it a try based on reputation, for a special occasion night out (we don't ordinarily spend nearly $300 on dinner for sure!). Our experience was a bit mixed. The good: -Atmosphere is lovely, calm and warm decor, relaxing ambience, comfy chairs at the table -Service was beyond reproach -- all staff very friendly and attentive and we were especially appreciative of the manager who brought us two new complementary dishes when we mentioned we hadn't really liked one of our first courses. The whole staff was also super patient and kind to our friends, who had a somewhat cranky baby on hand. The less great: -Overall, we found the food....fine? But definitely not nearly as astounding as expected and certainly not with regard to the price. My husband's filet mignon was cooked to order but beyond that not particularly memorable; meanwhile I got the yellowfin tuna, told it would be "black and blue," and found it was quite over cooked and tough on the outside and barely still raw on the inside. -The manner in which some dishes are served struck us as odd. Totally understand that this is a fine dining spot and that presentation is part and parcel of the meal. But it is strange that while some dishes come with what feel like full sides -- the filet with a hefty portion of thick asparagus -- others come with a laughably tiny one (my tuna came with literally a tablespoon of potato purée and an "escabeche" which wasn't more than a few raw strands of fennel and carrot with no taste). When my husband (who's not a big veggie guy) asked if his asparagus could be substituted for potato purée or such, the chef had to be consulted and...declined -- which, again, I would understand if the overall composition of the dish was affected, but it was literally filet mignon was 6 pieces of asparagus on the side -- nothing crazy! Overall, we are glad we tried dinner here, and want to emphasize that service was great -- but for what may have been our most expensive dinner out ever, we were definitely underwhelmed.

Revisited October 2022 under new management. Not as wonderful as we remember when both Gerry Hayden and Claudia Fleming were at the helm. Felt stiff and pretentious. Our server was lovely and charming, but Matt the Sommelier appeared uncomfortable although knowledgeable of an overpriced wine list. The food was not as remarkable either, sad to say. Hopefully things will improve over time. I noticed we who have been loyal over the years have many who feel the same. Thank you for reading.

cool wool lampshades. fun fact: wool is naturally flame retardant!

After hearing the occasional rave review of this place from our North Fork neighbors and friends, I recently took my partner here for his birthday. The space is undeniably beautiful and was particularly cozy on a cold and quiet night like the one on which we visited. My favorite element of the decor was the use of sheep's wool- both on the seat backs, and -more interestingly- for the felted lampshades, which give off a lovely glow. The service was fine- not memorably good or memorably bad, although I will say that the server was unobtrusive and we never felt rushed (though there were plenty of open tables that night and they would have had no reason to rush us). While we waited for our meal I had a very autumnal seasonal cocktail that was good, but not particularly original or sophisticated. (However, it was relatively accurately described on the cocktail menu, so maybe it's my fault for being the kind of basic b who would order such a thing...?) The sourdough bread was good, but very, very crusty. The crustiness would have been offset nicely by some melty butter, but alas, the bread was not particularly warm and the butter was ice cold. We did the three-course dinner. For the first course I had the broken beans, which was tasty and balanced, while at the same time somewhat reminiscent of the organic microwaveable bean burritos I frequently buy at Costco. I could not decide whether this was a good or bad thing. My partner had the beef tartare which I also tasted. The beef was good, and the "jammy" egg was great, but beyond that the dish was overcomplicated somehow, thanks in particular to a condiment of some kind that reminded me of supermarket guacamole. For the second course I had the duck. When duck is an option on a menu I have a hard time NOT choosing it, because (1) I never cook duck at home, and (2) it's from Long Island and I guess I like that. The duck here was as good as I've had anywhere. There was a piece of breast and a little lollipop style drumstick piece, prepared in different ways but both cooked perfectly; the breast was appropriately pink, and the drumstick had some kind of glaze and, being smaller, was cooked a bit more, so that it had a smokiness and pleasant chewiness to it. The polenta and poached fruit were the perfect accompaniments. (My partner had the filet and thought it was just OK, so I didn't bother tasting it.) For desert we shared the sage-infused cheesecake and some assorted ice cream and sorbet. The cheesecake is a deconstructed one- not that I mind- and was rich and creamy although it did not taste noticeably sage-y to me. There were a few pieces of crispy sage on the plate, but I would have loved more. Regarding the ice cream/sorbet, the flavor we liked best was an apple cider sorbet. I generally find sorbet to be disappointing compared to ice cream, but this one was quite good. To wrap up, it half-stars were a thing I would probably say 3.5, but since they're not, I guess I'll round up to 4, mainly because of the aesthetic. The food is fine, but I don't think it's the best in the area- not by a long shot- and to be honest, we probably won't eat here again. (On that note, I should remind my partner not to make a reciprocal reservation here for MY next birthday.) However, I will admit that it's got an upscale feel that is unmatched anywhere else on the North Fork. If classy/moody/special-occasion vibes are what you're after, you will not be disappointed.

Mid-,2021 I don't remember it being that much better than the food truck, & although it was crowded we were essentially in a pretty private area. Iykyk - how good that food truck feels, midsummer, esp on a sweltering hot day.

History of Present Indulgence: Wife and I took an impromptu trip away from the city to North Fork to explore the vineyards and this restaurant was recommended on almost every blog and "best" list for the North Fork area. Read about John Fraser, its three Michelin-starred chef and restaurateur who trained under the tutelage of Thomas Keller and had to come try it. Physical Exam: Taste - Few meals have brought me to literal tears. A chicken dish I had in Vienna circa 2019, 2 AM drunk Taco Bell, and the duck breast we had here. I've never had a piece of poultry so tender and juicy, yet have a skin that's perfect crusted and crisp. The quenelle of rhubarb jam wasn't completely necessary, but the color really topped off the presentation. The beef tartare covering with avocado cream was a savory, yet light way to start the meal. And the duck tot covered in caviar was a great bite, but be warned, it's $25 and the size of a thumb. Not made for sharing. Service - Expectedly good service for the quality of establishment. Patient, willing to give recommendations, smiled. Bonus points to the server who endured a family asking if their $90 steak actually tastes like it costs, because, and I quote "we've traveled the world and have had great, expensive steaks." Even more bonus points to the other server who listened to this woman explain her predicament about choosing between multi-million dollar homes. Atmosphere - Outdoor area and indoor area are both great. Indoor area is clean, romantic, dimly lit but bright enough to read the menu (at least for most people). It has the feel of someone's nice home reconstructed to be all dining space. Outdoor area is covered and gets good natural light. Assessment & Plan: 5/5 overpriced tart tots smothered in unfertilized salmon babies! North Fork Table & Inn was absolutely worth the price and the stop. It's a perfect end to a day of wine tastings, walking along the beach, and exploring the area. The food was some of the most delicious I've had in the world, and everything was so pristinely presented. They're menu changes, but if there's duck breast, you've got to get it. FULL SEND.

Booked an open table reservation for Veterans Day for 5:15pm. There were no standard tables available so we opted for bar seatings. Upon arrival we asked the maître d' if they could accommodate us in the main dining room and they did. Service was a bit slower than usual and our waitress was very apologetic about that. We started with the "Broken Bean" - simmered cannellini beans with herbs and topped with a crispy layer of Parmesan and then topped with shaved fluffy truffle. It's the kind of dish I can have with a glass of wine and be contented, but tonight was not the night for an early contentment. We also had the " Two Mile Salad" - to simply put, it was lettuce and mini plum tomatoes with shaved Parmesan. For dinner we had "The Southold Seafood Grill" - a medley of four different seafood in a light broth. And, our second entrée was the "Peppered Filet Mignon" - The Filet Mignon melted in my mouth, quite divine. And just when we thought the dishes above were great, we then moved on to greater things - desserts! I give myself permission every once in a while to have a good cocktail with dessert and this was the rightful place for such pleasure. The night ended with an "Apple Crostata" and my cocktails of choice was "Pear Pressure." I've read that North Fork Table has gone to some length to recruit a cocktail manager and it is reflective in the creativity, aesthetic and flavor of their cocktails. Relevant info: Seasons change and so does their cocktail menu.

This was, overall, our best meal during our Hamptons visit during covid. The only thing that wasn't flawless was a bit of a wait when we first arrived (we had a reservation of course). The outside dining area was the best of any we experienced. I might even go so far as to say that even in normal times we would still opt to eat outside; saying a lot because that's generally not my thing. Service was impeccable- Michelin-star worthy. A napkin falls- they're there to pick it up before you can even think of what to do. Otherwise, during the meal they disappear into the background. I don't think that happens by accident- it takes skill and training and so I appreciate that sort of thing. But of course the highlight was the food. Creative, beautiful on the plate, practically bursting with flavor, and well prepared across the board. I doubt if the menu will be the same by the time you read this so I'll spare you the details. But suffice to say, the sea food and produce were the stars, but the meats were equally impressive if not almost as special. Next time we're in the Hamptons this will be high on our list for a re-visit. Not to be missed...

So I've been here twice (summer 2019 and summer 2020). Pre-renovation, I would've given 5 stars. Post-renovations I'm bumping down to a 3. My photos are from both last year and this year, as a comparison. Last summer my husband and I dined here while visiting the area. We did the incredible 6-course tasting menu, and had Stanton as our waiter, who eloquently described each dish and made us feel so welcome. The restaurant had an old charm to it and we couldn't wait to return this summer. It was one of the best meals we have ever had. I still remember the salmon amuse bouche, the leek soup with lobster, and sweet potato soufflé with ginger... UNBELIEVABLE. 5 stars. Tonight, we attended again. We booked a reservation 2 weeks ago on OpenTable and were shocked to see that they had no tables except for random 9:30pm slots, so when an 8:45 popped up as a cancelation, we decided to take it. I booked the table and marked off that we'd be celebrating our anniversary. We knew the tasting menu was no longer an option, but we were excited to go again. When we arrived, we were seated on the patio, which we requested due to COVID. The restaurant is completely renovated - I heard they spent $2M. While beautiful, I feel like it lost some of its charm, and had more of a modern farmhouse chic NYC vibe (a la Blue Hill, or a Jean-Georges restaurant). We were seated in the corner of the patio and our server was Brad. He never told us his name, so I only know his name because it was on our check. He seemed to not want to be bothered with us. We ordered drinks: an old fashioned for my husband, and I ordered the High Summer Sour. I was excited about the chamomile in the drink. Our appetizer arrived first - the fluke. It was delicious. Still no drinks. Then we received the complimentary bread and butter, and olives (I feel like this and our cocktails should've been out before the fluke). Our drinks arrived and the man who brought them told me that tonight was the first night that they are offering the drink I ordered. Tonight they are doing it with sunflower, not chamomile, and he'd love to know what I think of it! (this might have been helpful to know before I ordered it in case I wanted to change my mind). Regardless, the drinks were good. (PS he never came back to find out what I thought of it). It seemed everyone else around us had apertifs at their table - little glasses of a beautiful red liqueur with a green leaf (mint?) garnish. We never got them :( the couple next to us received an extra two, which were probably for us, but despite the couple declaring they already received theirs, the waiter said to keep them and drink them anyway. Time went by... We finished our drinks.... Empty glasses... We'd like another round... No waiter... Our entrees arrive: my husband ordered the duck and it was prepared perfectly. Since it was so late I decided to have an appetizer as my meal - the rigatoni cascio e pepe which was tasty. We had to ask someone to get our waiter so we could order more drinks. Btw - all the runners seemed to be confused as to which tables were which. They'd often bring food to the wrong table or walk around with plates looking very confused. Remember those apertifs that went to the wrong table and was never remedied or even noticed...? I would've asked the beverage director about them but she seemed to go to every table but ours... Brad, our waiter, brought us a dessert menu. We decided to go for the cheesecake sundae. I assumed it was cheesecake with ice cream on top (even though that sounds weird) but it was actually cheesecake-flavored ice cream. I enjoyed it, but the menu descriptions are vague, just basically listing ingredients. Either be more descriptive or have your waiters explain what they are. There were also seasonal ice creams but he didn't tell us what they were. I had the Cardamaro Amaro (so good!) and my husband had a tawny port. We loved the little petit-fours at the end (a bite of chocolate, and a grapefruit gelee with fennel). Overall, we felt like nobody gave a damn that we were there. We were hardly checked on (other than the sweet young man who kept refilling our water! Thank you!) Our anniversary was never acknowledged, we did not receive the same treatment as others regarding apertifs, we were not told of menu changes, we had to flag people down to order things... It was just really disappointing compared to last year. From a restaurant of such high caliber, I'd expect better. The food was good, but nowhere near last year's meal, and I'm not sure I'll return. I do not like feeling like an inconvenience.

My wife spotted this rustic looking facility, so I turned in and immediately got a good feeling about it. The owner greeted us and made us feel entirely welcome. We sat down and looked at the tasting choices and had a fairly easy time filling up our dance card with 5 selections. We had the place to ourselves at first, and spent time getting to know Perry, a woman whose family has owned the operation since 1974. She said most of the buildings date back from the mid 1859s. Entertainment was also provided by 20 chickens (17 hens and 3 roosters). The wines were wonderful and lovingly explained by Perry. We left with a red and a white, and a feeling that this had been a very special hour.

The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful when it came to explaining the wines and guiding tastings. They were attentive when needed but also gave plenty of space, which added to the laid back vibe. The wine was pretty good overall. There was a nice variety available, and while not every wine stood out, several were enjoyable and well balanced. The quality matched the relaxed setting and made for a pleasant tasting. It is the kind of wine you can easily enjoy while sitting outside and taking in the scenery. Overall Old Field Vineyard offers good service, great ambience, and pretty good wine in a lovely setting. It may not be the most standout vineyard on the North Fork, but it is absolutely worth a visit if you are looking for a relaxing and enjoyable wine tasting experience. You've got the breeze, the view, seating on the cliff or below at the beach, firepits, and with a cocktail in hand... I'm in heaven. We all grabbed rounds of margaritas and played a few rounds of boccee. Though we weren't hotel guests, the experience of dropping in for a drink and some outdoor games-plus checking out the beach-was 5-stars.

We stayed in a terrace king which made it super easy to access the pool and beach with kids. The bfast was simple - continental- but delicious. Great coffee, muffins, croissants, yogurt and granola, chia concoctions, and grab and go fruit - more than enough. The pool is saltwater and sooo refreshing. It never feels too busy- in fact it felt kind of empty. Soooo many families with young kids- staff was so good to them! Rooms were comfortable, simple and adequate for what we needed. One of my favorite amenities were all of the bonfire pits. We had a blast making smores and sipping wine by the fire as the night cooled. We will definitely be back and would recommend to all but especially families.

An Absolutely Exceptional Stay -- Silver Sands Is Something Special…read more My wife and I spent three days at Silver Sands celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary, and although this was our first visit, it certainly will not be our last. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the experience was exceptional. The entire staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. What impressed us most was how incredibly organized, attentive, and welcoming everyone was without ever being intrusive. It was almost as if the staff had mastered the art of being there exactly when you needed something, while somehow remaining nearly invisible the rest of the time. That level of service is very difficult to achieve, and Silver Sands does it beautifully. The property itself is immaculate. The grounds are meticulously maintained while still allowing the natural beauty of the surroundings to remain part of the experience. The private beach was spotless, peaceful, and beautifully organized. Throughout the day, we would notice staff quietly moving through, straightening and maintaining everything, yet they were so unobtrusive you could barely tell it was happening. The attention to detail throughout Silver Sands is remarkable. From the design and atmosphere of the property to the pour-over coffee in the room, the thoughtfully selected shampoos and conditioners, linens, amenities, and overall cleanliness -- everything feels intentional. Our room was absolutely impeccable. Silver Sands somehow manages to capture the nostalgia and charm of the classic American motel while feeling modern, sophisticated, and luxurious at the same time. Calling it a "motel" almost doesn't do it justice. It is a truly unique property that can easily rival some of the best hotels and resorts we've stayed at. And then there are Eddie's and Nookie's! Both onsite restaurants were fantastic. The staff and service were wonderful, and everything we ate was top-notch. We left already talking about coming back so we can try more of the menu. Over our 31 years together, my wife and I have been fortunate enough to travel to many beautiful and far-off destinations. Yet there were moments during our stay at Silver Sands when we genuinely felt transported somewhere else entirely -- certainly not like we were still on Long Island, and at times not even like we were anywhere in the United States. It has a special atmosphere that is difficult to describe until you experience it yourself. Thank you to the entire Silver Sands team, as well as everyone at Eddie's and Nookie's, for making our 31st anniversary one of our most memorable, relaxing, and enjoyable staycations. You helped make an already special occasion even more special. We arrived as first-time guests and left knowing we'll be back and bringing others to experience what we had. Thank you again, Silver Sands. See you all soon!
