An Absolutely Exceptional Stay -- Silver Sands Is Something Special…read more My wife and I spent three days at Silver Sands celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary, and although this was our first visit, it certainly will not be our last. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the experience was exceptional. The entire staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. What impressed us most was how incredibly organized, attentive, and welcoming everyone was without ever being intrusive. It was almost as if the staff had mastered the art of being there exactly when you needed something, while somehow remaining nearly invisible the rest of the time. That level of service is very difficult to achieve, and Silver Sands does it beautifully. The property itself is immaculate. The grounds are meticulously maintained while still allowing the natural beauty of the surroundings to remain part of the experience. The private beach was spotless, peaceful, and beautifully organized. Throughout the day, we would notice staff quietly moving through, straightening and maintaining everything, yet they were so unobtrusive you could barely tell it was happening. The attention to detail throughout Silver Sands is remarkable. From the design and atmosphere of the property to the pour-over coffee in the room, the thoughtfully selected shampoos and conditioners, linens, amenities, and overall cleanliness -- everything feels intentional. Our room was absolutely impeccable. Silver Sands somehow manages to capture the nostalgia and charm of the classic American motel while feeling modern, sophisticated, and luxurious at the same time. Calling it a "motel" almost doesn't do it justice. It is a truly unique property that can easily rival some of the best hotels and resorts we've stayed at. And then there are Eddie's and Nookie's! Both onsite restaurants were fantastic. The staff and service were wonderful, and everything we ate was top-notch. We left already talking about coming back so we can try more of the menu. Over our 31 years together, my wife and I have been fortunate enough to travel to many beautiful and far-off destinations. Yet there were moments during our stay at Silver Sands when we genuinely felt transported somewhere else entirely -- certainly not like we were still on Long Island, and at times not even like we were anywhere in the United States. It has a special atmosphere that is difficult to describe until you experience it yourself. Thank you to the entire Silver Sands team, as well as everyone at Eddie's and Nookie's, for making our 31st anniversary one of our most memorable, relaxing, and enjoyable staycations. You helped make an already special occasion even more special. We arrived as first-time guests and left knowing we'll be back and bringing others to experience what we had. Thank you again, Silver Sands. See you all soon!

Definitely four stars for what it is, which is a motel with clean rooms in a great location. A…read morecouple specific things held it back from the perfect 5, see below. The room was sizable and clean. We loved the outdoor areas set up to sit and relax with a view of the marina. We walked down the dock and spent a few minutes speaking to a friendly fisherman. We enjoy both Southold and Greenport and found this location perfect for both. Just a few minutes drive to downtown Greenport, but with vineyards around the corner. Add two restaurants in walking distance, and it was perfect for our getaway. Really only two drawbacks for me. First, the walls are THIN. We came in low season where there was almost no one there, but I imagine this could be a problem. We could clearly hear our downstairs neighbor snoring as well as other, ahem, night time activities. Second, the bed seems comfortable to sit on but I found that I kept getting soreness in my hips. The pillows were a bit flat.

It has a view of of the water which is really nice and it has cute little patio area for the guest to use. There is a pool but you have to walk over to the next lot to get to it. The place is pretty basic with no frills but has everything you would need. The one thing that was a little upsetting was when the kids were running around barefoot in our room, their little feet became covered in dirt. While the rooms looked spotless, it seems the carpets need a good cleaning.

We were given an incorrect room key & were locked out of our room for an extended period of time…read morelate at night. The host(s) would not answer our calls & the email address was kicking back as undeliverable. We had to search the entire place to find the master keys. She clearly watched us on camera because she knew we located them but provided us no assistance at the time. Not even an apology. Very disappointing. Never again! There are many places far better than this one in the area. I recommend you look into those.

Tasty quiche was made from scratch by Diane and ingredients changed the next day. $450 for 2 nites with breakfast, June weekend, including tax. WiFi included. Fun and easy town to walk around. Ideal choice if interested in the local wineries. Unsuitable for young children due to some fragile items in the open areas. Tip: you can also get to Greenport from NYC via bus or LIRR train (three trains a day from Penn Station, $25 one-way, peak fare, 3 hour trip) or take the Cross Sound Ferry from New London CT, which we used to avoid bridge and LIE congestion, for about $67 with car and two adults.
