From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the experience was exceptional. The entire staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. What impressed us most was how incredibly organized, attentive, and welcoming everyone was without ever being intrusive. It was almost as if the staff had mastered the art of being there exactly when you needed something, while somehow remaining nearly invisible the rest of the time. That level of service is very difficult to achieve, and Silver Sands does it beautifully. The property itself is immaculate. The grounds are meticulously maintained while still allowing the natural beauty of the surroundings to remain part of the experience. The private beach was spotless, peaceful, and beautifully organized. Throughout the day, we would notice staff quietly moving through, straightening and maintaining everything, yet they were so unobtrusive you could barely tell it was happening. The attention to detail throughout Silver Sands is remarkable. From the design and atmosphere of the property to the pour-over coffee in the room, the thoughtfully selected shampoos and conditioners, linens, amenities, and overall cleanliness -- everything feels intentional. Our room was absolutely impeccable. Silver Sands somehow manages to capture the nostalgia and charm of the classic American motel while feeling modern, sophisticated, and luxurious at the same time. Calling it a "motel" almost doesn't do it justice. It is a truly unique property that can easily rival some of the best hotels and resorts we've stayed at. And then there are Eddie's and Nookie's! Both onsite restaurants were fantastic. The staff and service were wonderful, and everything we ate was top-notch. We left already talking about coming back so we can try more of the menu. Over our 31 years together, my wife and I have been fortunate enough to travel to many beautiful and far-off destinations. Yet there were moments during our stay at Silver Sands when we genuinely felt transported somewhere else entirely -- certainly not like we were still on Long Island, and at times not even like we were anywhere in the United States. It has a special atmosphere that is difficult to describe until you experience it yourself. Thank you to the entire Silver Sands team, as well as everyone at Eddie's and Nookie's, for making our 31st anniversary one of our most memorable, relaxing, and enjoyable staycations. It never feels too busy- in fact it felt kind of empty. Soooo many families with young kids- staff was so good to them! Rooms were comfortable, simple and adequate for what we needed. One of my favorite amenities were all of the bonfire pits. We had a blast making smores and sipping wine by the fire as the night cooled. We valet parked the car and then that person drove us to the pool in their golf cart. It was too far for us to walk with two kids, one being 2 1/2 years old. We went to the pool first. There were a lot of bugs in the water and it looked like it needed a really good vacuuming. We asked the lifeguard for a skimmer so we could clean the bugs out of the pool because the kids would not go in. So he got up and did it. But the bottom of pool was still dirty. They went in anyway. After a while we walked down to the beach. The beach is extremely rocky. We wore our water shoes but it was still rough. The kids didn't like it so we went back to the pool for a little while. We called for the golf cart to come and get us and he did. We left and went back to our hotel's pool which was cleaner. We had debated on staying at this hotel but Harbor Front won. We were really glad we did not stay at this hotel and we know we will never stay here.

Add two restaurants in walking distance, and it was perfect for our getaway. Really only two drawbacks for me. First, the walls are THIN. We came in low season where there was almost no one there, but I imagine this could be a problem. We could clearly hear our downstairs neighbor snoring as well as other, ahem, night time activities. Second, the bed seems comfortable to sit on but I found that I kept getting soreness in my hips. The pillows were a bit flat.

The owners, Dan and Alane, are gracious and warm, lovely and kind. As NYC transplants who have an appreciation for locals and visitors, they are informed about all things North Fork. They are wonderful hosts who made us feel very welcomed! The rates are competitive, but the stay is even more worthwhile than we had initially imagined. The Guest House is the epitome of a comfortable country home -- a beautiful dream, to say the least. I ran my hands along the different textural walls and refinished drawer chests. With modern yet rustic aesthetics, the house is bright and breezy and clean. Our queen-size bed is a cloud! We slept so well on both nights and woke up to wholesome and delicious country breakfasts each morning. It is the perfect stay for a weekend getaway. If we were to visit the Long Island wine region again, we will definitely return to the Guest House.
