I went here last night to celebrate my anniversary and the service from the food was absolutely horrible. Run as fast as you can. I ordered a tomahawk for 2 with my wife and there was no sear, salt, and pepper. The steak was tasteless. My wife asked for steak sauce and they said they didn't have any. How do they not have steak sauce when they offer steak??? Don't waste your money, go somewhere else. read more

Overrated and Underwhelming Have eaten here a few times and have been disappointed with each visit. Problem always stems from service-or the lack thereof: Having to ask for bread....only to brought out a huge tray....with two pieces left, after having run out by 8pm? Courses that are rushed and combined. Having to pour our own wine throughout the meal. The food is in fact very good....but not worth the frustration or price. The food (super yummy), service (friendly welcoming, and professional), and setting (country-ish), are all excellent. The cocktails here are great...try the jimador, and the food here is delicious...the foie gras and sushi appetizer is awesome! Claudia Fleming (the ex-Gramercy Tavern Pastry Chef) oversees the dessert menu and all the choices are great, but I'd recommend either the coconut tapioca pudding, with passion fruit sorbet, crispy coconut, and sweet basil syrup; or the chocolate caramel tart with salted caramel ice cream, or the warm (made to order) sugar and spice donut "holes." Normally love this restaurant. Today we tried the food truck - although I have heard great compliments for the their food truck, today it was below avg food. Ordered two sandwiches, organic hot dog and fresh lemonade. All were disappointing- for $47 including tip- I should have gave it back. The hotdog was brown and seemed to be turning bad, the lemonade was old , the bread for the sandwiches were beautifully grilled but tasteless. The lobster roll was an utter disappointment ! The grilled meat and spicy slaw was interesting - the slaw overpowered the meat slice and I could not identify the meat - a slim slice. So Disappointed as I enjoy the restaurant often! read more

4.5 stars, at least - delicious tuna tartare, excellent rack of lamb - they even served my daughter a giant hamburger when she could not find anything on the menu that she liked - though she did manage to order and enjoy the beet appetizer - and she loved my tuna. Others at my table ordered seared scallops and cavatelli with truffles. All very good. The one mistake that we made, through no fault of the restaurant- we did not order dessert as I had made something at home - big mistake! Spent the day away from the kids out east to celebrate our anniversary, so we needed an upscale relaxing dining experience. The NF Table delivered! I made the reservation and few weeks before on Open Table. I indicated that we were celebrating our anniversary. When we were seated, we were warmly greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne, a really nice gesture. The wait staff was attentive and courteous. The menu offered 3 options. Ala carte, price fixe, or 6-course tasting menu. We splurged and chose the 6 course tasting menu. It was fine dining at its best. Even before the 6 courses began we were given an assortment of small plates-- all complimentary. They were a pea infused hummus with two tarot chips, some sort of toast crisp with creamy ricotta (going from memory here), and a tomato soup gazpacho, all delicious. The fresh baked bread also a plus! Now on to the 6 course 1. Sea Bass wrapped in cucumber, almost like a sushi 2. Raw tuna with foie gras--- FLAVORFUL! 3. Lobster in a succulent broth.... so good! 4. Cavatelli in a truffle cream sauce, whole truffles! (Our favorite) 5. Duck breast, duck sausage with creamy polenta! Wow! Then a complimentary dessert, which was coconut tapioca with passion fruit gelato... my wife loved it... I don't like tapioca or coconut. 6. Dessert-- Sweet corn soufflé, wasn't a fan of it but I was so deliciously full, it didn't matter It was the dining experience we needed without our kids. Have been a longtime fan of this classic North Fork restaurant and just had dinner there after it's reopening under new ownership. It is spectacular with two beautiful new outdoor dining patios which are perfect for now with virus concerns, and add so much to this restaurant which never had any outdoor dining before. We ate outside which was lovely but the new bar and indoor dining room are also stylish and gorgeous. Staff could not have been nicer and food was fabulous. Duck was superb and broken chocolate cake for dessert was memorable. From cocktails to coffee, it was all excellent. So happy to have this restaurant back and congrats for a perfect reimagining of one of our favorite spots. read more

So disappointed! Our waiter ignored us for the entire meal, disappearing completely at the end. We had to ask for water and then refills til we finally asked the busboy to please leave the carafe on the table, rather than "bother" the waiter again. Three of us shared 4 dishes and were never given dinner plates so we had to eat from our bread plates! The food was good but not worth the price. I really enjoyed my dinner here, I wish I could give it 4.5 stars. The restaurant setting is very nice. Not sure if this is too picky but it was really loud in there. I wish there was something to dampen the conversations, the sound just bounced off the walls. We got the three course prix fixe with an extra app. We started with the tuna tartare, foi gras, and the pork pate. Loved everything but the pork pate. It was good but not as good as the other too. We both then moved onto the scallops which I loved. Mine had a great sear on them, my husband, not as much. Dessert consisted of the chocolate and caramel tart with caramel ice cream and the peach cobbler, upside down. Both great. The service was very polite but slow. I would have given this place five starts except for these small details. Overall I would go again and recommend others to go. read more

My husband and I went here for restaurant week. I had the risotto with broccoli rabe. It was one of the better risottos I have had. It was very creamy with generous amount of broccoli rabe. Great food, friendly unpretentious service. We started out with the pumpkin soup with lobster cake and the Scottish salmon with horseradish mousse. The soup was very, very good but the salmon was excellent! For entrees we had the tuna with baby bok Choy and snap peas. My husband had the beef tenderloin with Swiss chard, baby carrots and a potato thing. I'll get to that in a minute... The tuna was cooked perfectly! Beautiful crust on the outside - rare but warm all the way through. It was delicious! The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. It could have used drizzle if sauce. The veggies were delicious. The potatoes... They were almost like a fancy tater tot. They were nothing special and really didn't need to be there. Having some wine left, we ordered the cheese platter. 2 French cheeses, a california cheese and one from Vermont. All good but the Vermont cheese really stood out! We finished with the sorbet sampler. Passion fruit, coconut, strawberry and concord grape. The coconut was to die for! Definitely would come back and recommend this place. I'm still struggling a bit with the fact that I ate at Noah's in Greenport the night before dining at North Fork Table, and for 1/3 the price at Noah's had a more enjoyable dining experience than at North Fork. Maybe I'm just over the New American highly priced restaurants with all the clean lines and muted decor that mostly deliver on the food, but don't properly strike the experience/price ratio. Yes, yes, North Fork is good food. My beet appetizer was nice, but when you're spending with tax, tip and prix fix about $110 p/p for a 3 course meal (with a glass of wine), that beet salad should make me stop and think. It didn't. However my wife's appetizer was very good. Entrees were good, but not great. Dessert, the same. The service was a bit giggly and alternated between trying too hard and forgetfulness. read more

I've been hesitant to write about my experience at North Forth Table last week for restaurant week because I wish it didn't all play out the way I did, but I'll tell you all. My boyfriend has been telling me about NFTI since we met. Raving about "the best tuna appetizer" he's ever ate. That he's had a beef dish that blew off his socks. And that "the chef does amazing things with vegetables". So when it came to restaurant week, I knew this would be one of our stops. We made reservations as soon as we could and took any time we could - 9:30 on a Friday takes serious determination to wait for dinner. Arriving, I thought the restaurant was adorable. Clearly high-end and setting itself apart. I envisioned a bridal shower or engagement party with the restaurant full with laughter and pretty people. We were sat in a far section of the house, my boyfriend noted that he's never sat there before and thinks it might be a newly opened section or maybe an area they use when it is so busy as restaurant week. We were sat sitting next to each other, facing out towards the room. This was awkward because everyone was sat like that. It quickly became noticeable that everyone was facing out towards the other dinners and the room was quiet and uncomfortable because of it. But you make the best of the situation. Now on to the food. (I am doing this all off memory because the restaurant week menu is no longer up on their site) Appetizer Pork- was not impressed at all. Almost a pâté that lacked any flavor. Fish cake - was good, but nothing rave-able. Tiny portion as expected. Entrées Cavatelli - with cauliflower and mushrooms - was good, but not worth the hype of the restaurant or the price over the evening. Pork - hands down the best thing we ate all night. Wish the rest of the food could have been like that. Dessert Coffee Toffee ice cream sundae - oh me oh my. I wish I could eat one of these every night. The salt makes the flavors stand out. Very good. Chocolate caramel tort - eh. Just eh. Here's my overall issue: NFTI has been SO hyped up to me. Some of the food wasn't good & would make me not want to come back, but on the other hand, a few things were AMAZING. I know that some restaurants must struggle with back down from AMAZING menu's and produce a stingy-er $25 prefix. BUT to me, the whole point of restaurant week is to introduce people to your restaurant and to WANT them to come back and be WILLING to pay full price. As the boyfriend LOVES NFTI and says that it was just a very bad experience, we will be back at another time to taste the full menu. But had this has been my first experience, I would not be back. read more

My husband and I ate here while on vacation on the north fork. The service here was so fabulous, I can't say enough about it. The servers were very attentive without being overbearing, which can be so annoying. All pretty formal and politely friendly; they made me feel like I was SOMEBODY. The food was incredible. My husband and I did the chef's tasting menu, which I felt by NY standards was pretty reasonably priced; it was $85pp and included four courses, plus dessert and a chef's amusee (scoops of mango and coconut sorbet, which in my opinion nearly beat out the dessert, a chocolate tart). Two of the courses were meat based, one of which was a filet. We were stuffed to the gills by the end, almost uncomfortably so, but we just couldn't leave anything on our plates. Wine pairings were an additional $30pp. FYI, I made a reservation about 2 weeks in advance, and the only slots open on a Thursday night were 6pm and 9pm, so book early if you've got a set time in mind. Made last minute reservations no problem on opentable.com and after a quick drive from NYC had a stunning and pleasantly surprising meal here. We were quickly seated and loved the feel of the main dining room. It was even better that for once noone had to sit on top of each other and we had the best little table in an alcove with windows all around us. The service was impeccable all the way down to the bus people. Myself and my SO's mom started with the beet salad and goat cheese, SO started with tiny lamb meatballs and gnocchi, and his dad had the cod cakes. The portions were perfect and everyone ate everything and still had enough room to enjoy their entrees which came in perfect timing. All I know is that I had halibut with baby bok choy and a carrot/ginger glaze and it was amazing. For desert we had two orders of their mini sugar donot holes with icing which were seriously to die for... so to die for that we called them up the next night to see if we could get some to go but that was a no go! This will definitely be on my list of restaurants after a long day of wine tasting. read more

This is definitely one of the best -- if not THE best -- restaurants on Long Island, and considering I grew up there and have many years of eating under my belt, that's saying something. I made a reservation here after reading about it in New York magazine and my mom and I had booked a spa weekend at a nearby B&B. Aside from the much-needed massage I got, this meal was the highlight of the weekend. The food was prepared so well and with such great ingredients. Restaurants all over the place are doing the locavore thing, but this is as local as it gets with most of the farms a short drive away. I don't remember exactly all the things we had, but I do rememer the beet salad was delicious. I got a fish dish and we had the doughnuts. The also had some really great Long Island wines, particularly one from Raphael that was very light and grapefruity. This place is a great addition to the North Fork and I hope to be back very soon. read more

Having come here before and greeted warmly with champagne for our anniversary one year, our Valentine's Lunch was just as special, and of course, just as tasty!! We chose to go with brunch foods, which was great, since it was a Saturday, and my burger was incredible and cooked to a perfect textbook medium rare!!! There are of course quite a few not-to-miss-dishes on the menu, and let me say - TRUFFLE MAC & CHEESE - Holy motherofgod that is life-changing and intoxicating!! (still dreaming about it 26 hours later...) Everything about what you expect in a 5 star restaurant is what you get here - from being warmly greeted on the 2nd coldest day of the year, to the top-notch service where nothing is over-looked and where a lot of other restaurants can definitely learn a lot from, to the food, to the best of the best wine list....all to die for!!! . The North Fork Table & Inn is a true legacy on Long Island and I have zero problem with driving over an hour to get there - Worth every penny, we save this place for special occasions and treat ourselves every once in a while... and every time it's like I've died and gone to heaven while eating!! Me and my wife went for Valentine's Day weekend. We seat at the bar and had appetizers i Had the cheese platter she had the tuna tartare appetizers were amazing. Bartender was very friendly . For entrée I had to duck it was a very good portion very tasty. My wife had whitefish also great portion and she said it was excellent. I ordered two special martinis off the chalkboard and they were phenomenal they make great drinks there. I definitely will be going back. The hype surrounding this place is in abundance, but it is well deserved. 3 years ago I had the best meal of my life at North Fork Table and Inn. Last week I had the 2nd best meal of my life at NFTI. The owner was extremely nice and polite. The staff was great. (just a tad on the slow side but it was fine) The atmosphere was great. The food was once again unbelieveable. Props to the chef for creating some of the best concoctions My fiance and I have ever eaten. The hake was amazing, the cavatelli app was smh unreal, and the deserts were on point like no other. Was in Northfork for a girls weekend recently. As soon as we decided on the dates we made reservation here b/c of all the rave reviews... even the owner of the house we rented said this place is 1 of the best in the area. We wanted to do the chef's tasting menu since we were going there to celebrate. When I called to confirm the reservation I found out they weren't doing anything off the regular menu b/c of restaurant week. We were kinda bummed b/c the chef tasting menu sounded so good. Anyways--- so we arrived at 9PM and was seated immediately. Some of the items that really stood out from everything we ordered was the salmon potato cake, scallops and ALL of the desserts. We ordered all 5 items from the dessert menu and they were seriously divine ! we each had diff faves but my personal one is the banana toffee ice cream sundae. as for service-- no complaints. our waitress was friendly and the food all came out the same time in a timely fashion. would totally go back again.. hopefully to try the chef's tasting. read more

What a wonderful anniversary dinner experience. We are no strangers to fine dining (a rare treat for us) and this was a perfect example of hitting all the right notes. We arrived a few minutes early and were greeted by a very nice hostess. She explained that it would only be a few minutes as they had to finish seating the 8:00pm reservations. She asked us to wait at the cozy little bar (short wait.) The bartender was very friendly yet polished. I noticed an unlabeled bottle being used in a cocktail and asked what it was - homemade BACON vodka. I said I have to try it. She made a bacon martini with homemade tomato water and it was delicious. I asked for a little celery to compliment it. We were seated promptly. The decor is clean, light and mellow. Old country house meets modern soft pastels and clean lines - minimalist without being cold. Our server was also younger and also very well trained. She was terrific! We asked to make note of my wife's gluten-free (celiac) needs and she was briefed by the hostess from our reservation call and was prepared to break down each menu item as a yes/no or we can adjust it. We had amazing appetizers and main courses (the fish of the day and duck were outstanding) and even the dessert was GF and perfect. We spent a good amount on a well-rounded meal but got more than our money's worth. We will return again when we are out on the North Fork. read more

I came here with my wife for my birthday and it was hands down a top dinner experience for me, the closest thing I've gotten to my 'best dinner ever' since Gary Danko on our honeymoon. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming to anybody who wanted a great meal (there was an older couple there, a small family, a business group, etc.). The scallops to start were so good, I haven't had or found anything like them. I was a little nervous because I split a porterhouse with my wife and she likes her meat well done (a steak faux pas in my opinion) so that's how we ordered it. It came out incredible though and I'm really glad we got it. The sorbet (wife) and apple tart were an enjoyable finish and I was full but did not need to be rolled out the door after. One of the finest meals I have ever eaten. The atmosphere was wonderful and the wait staff was terrific. We thoroughly enjoyed the 6 course tasting menu. Each innovative course complimented the previous item in a crescendo of spectacular flavor. The wine pairings were perfect. The delicate texture and rich flavor of the seared Foie Gras worked perfectly with the raw Tuna with glazed daikon, radish syrup and micro herbs. The dry aged Crescent Farms Duck and summer truffle, roasted strawberry, hazelnut and Swiss Chard was simply amazing. The Catapano chèvre soufflé was the perfect ending to the meal. Came here for brunch one weekend, en route to the vineyards for winetasting. It was a pleasant surprise to find such a gem on the east end of LI. We ordered quite a few items to share from the a la carte menu. The pancakes were fluffy and light, the doughnuts were coated with cinnamon and the dipping sauce was just delectable. The beet salad was really tasty and the pear tarte was very memorable. If the restaurant wasn't so far away, it would be a regular weekend brunch spot-- definitely a must try! read more

Disappointing engagement dinner at NFTI. The experience started out promising - eager young servers, nice bread and butter course, atmospheric dining room. However then came the food and it only got worse and worse. The Thai inspired shrimp and carrot soup was so thick and creamy, it was like drinking straight red curry sauce. Then came the debacle of my fiance's lamb loin... He ordered it medium rare which is also what the kitchen recommended. It came out well done, and was sent back. While we were waiting for the second go, he was asked if he wanted something else to drink - a beer, which to our surprise wound up on our final bill. Then, a second lamb dish was presented, this time raw and almost cold. The waiter was apologetic and took it back to the kitchen again, however by this time he was tired of waiting and losing his appetite so he passed. Dessert was chocolate "soufflé" with coffee ice cream, but the soufflé was more like a molten chocolate cake without the lava center. The most insulting thing of all, the manager came over at the end of meal and said "you of course won't be charged for your entree because you didn't have one." OBVIOUSLY! It was the end of the night, so maybe service was grinding to a halt, but staff was non existent as we desperately tried to get someone's attention for the check. And when it came, nothing was removed from the bill except the lamb. Not a single other thing, despite the fact that one out of two of us left without having a proper dinner. read more

Cocktails were delicious (but please please stock fever free tonic or another premium tonic as the G&T's could be better). Dining room is comfortable and elegant. Came back for a second try on a weekend at this fabulous restaurant. The place was filled and it was difficult to find a parking place in a somewhat awkward lot. Loved our meal, every morsel delicious and exquisite. The wine choices helped us discover a new taste sensation. We are not real fans of local wine, but we left with a new favorite local wine to purchase. Our only complaint (the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5) was a watiress who seemed to just be off. She waited on the table next to us as well, and some of her comments made us look at one another, like, Really? She was older, blonde, and we just felt it made the evening slightly off. If you are going to eat at only one restaurant on the North Fork of Long Island then this is the place. It's a great experience to dine at this restaurant which is unlike any other restaurant in this area. Owners, servers and kitchen staff do an amazing job of making sure your experience is a memorable one and wanting to return for more. It's located in a restored house with second floor converted in to guest rooms and the main floor consists of a small bar area by the entrance, rear and main dining rooms. It's not a large place so advance reservations are highly suggested for weekends and holidays. Menu is never disappointing with expertly prepared local and seasonal ingredients. You can choose to do the tasting or pick from individual dishes. Nice selection of local and non-local wines as well as cocktails. There is a corkage fee if you are interested in bringing your own wine as soon as it's not in the wine list. Menu changes by the season so feel free to check out the menus on their website. Besides dinner, they also serve brunch, lunch and family menus. Availability may change depending on the season. During the summer they setup a Champagne Garden right near the main entrance, on the side of the house which is really nice to sit out and drink delicious sparkly before going in for dinner. Out back by the parking lot they have the North Fork Food Truck which serves excellent sandwiches and boxed lunches on the weekends during off season and seven days a week in season. Enjoy! read more
