I visited North Gateway recently because my niece was visiting from out of town and her car needed some new tires and some much needed maintenance. She was sliding all over the road during the recent winter storms. So I stopped at Walmart to buy her some floor mats, ArmorAll wipes, an ice scraper, windshield wash fluid, de-icer, wiper blades, and an engine air filter. While I was there, I called North Gateway to see if they could schedule a same-day tire appointment. Not only were they able to get me in the same day, they were able to get me in right then. So I checked out at Walmart and drove over to North Gateway. Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted and they recognized the car I was driving based on our phone call. I asked them to replace the rear tires, install a lug nut on the front passenger side, change the oil, top off the fluids, install the wiper blades and air filter that I just bought, and perform a general inspection. They agreed to install my parts with no hassle. They took the car in immediately and began working on it. While sitting in the waiting room, there was a TV, a popcorn maker, coffee, and a separate room that you can work remotely in, if you need to. I watched Olympic bobsledding while the car was being worked on. They also vacuumed the street salt off of the carpets while I was there. This level of detail demonstrates that this is a family run business that cares about details. After 1.5 hours, they had completed all of the work. I was very happy that they worked so quickly and efficiently. The front wheel ended up needing a new stud plus a lug nut. So I was grateful that they were able to repair that. When I checked out, the price of the maintenance was lower than it should have been. I asked him about it and he just smiled graciously. It was evident that he had given me a discount due to my nieces circumstances. I thanked him and left. They went above and beyond to get this work done quickly and then gave me a discount on top of it. I now have the peace of mind knowing that my niece will be driving a safer car. I guess all good things must come to an end, my relationship with this business has ended. I have been coming to North Gateway Tire for over 20 years. They used to be a stand-up business but, based on my recent visit, their customer service has deteriorated. The dude who waited on me was grumpy and rude. After I waited for 3 hours, they gave me an estimate of $1600 for front and rear brakes on a Mazda CX7 (pads, rotors & calipers). I was shocked & couldn't believe they were trying to soak me. I have seen their TV commercials a lot lately and one of their things advertised is truck lifts. I am in the need to have one purchased and installed to keep my tires from rubbing on turns in my new truck. I am big on keeping my business local, so I have called the Medina location not once but twice now second time being today 9/22/23 and both times was told the truck lift guy would call me back. Neither time have I had anyone return a phone call to me interested in my business at all. I let them know on the second call that I had used them in the past before I moved the headquarters of my business south but now have brought it back to Ohio. Btw I bought two of boat trailer tires new from here just last week mounted on at my shop the other side needed done as tires dry rotted, just not worth it taking chances with blowing out tires 5k lbs boat. The Hill brothers and their colleagues run this business like every business should be run. They are fast, friendly, and efficient, and their prices are fair. They do everything possible to take care of customers--free coffee and popcorn, TV in waiting area, special play area for kids, and free transportation to your home and free pickup when the work is done. They are keenly aware that the success of their business depends entirely upon how well they take care of their customers, and the business is succeeding very well. There is no hard sell, and you can count on their honesty when they advise you whether you need new tires or any of the other services they offer. There are a few other places around that do not exactly take that approach. Strongly recommended. You will not find a better tire supplier or mechanical repair than North Gateway. read more

They know tires well enough but it seems their technicians struggle with following basic instructions from the customer and then lie to the customer. My wife dropped off her car to get a set of snow tires installed and told them to put the summer tires in the car. When we went to pick up the car they told her that I had come by earlier and picked up the tires(I had not). Then they tried to tell her they were in the backseat(also wrong). When I got involved it finally came out they had sent our tires home with another customer. They also tried to say there wasn't room in her car for the tires(also wrong). I suggest the manager require that if the technician isn't placing the tires in the customers vehicle that ALL of the customers tires be marked with their name to prevent such stupid mistakes in the future. I do thank the other customer for returning our tires or we'd of needed to buy summer tires in the spring. Thought I'd follow up on this; I spoke with Steve at Gateway Tire today and they've put out a memo for the technicians to be more careful to ensure that the customer gets their other set of tires back now. I'm very pleased to hear that they've done this as it shows they value their customers concerns. I believe I'll be doing more business with them in the future. read more

North Gateway is the best car care place ever! Some people would think that I'm exaggerating, but after having great service for many years with the Hill brothers at North Gateway, this is completely true. My parents take all of there cars (6) for all of the basic maintenance along with other services which they keep adding. Our cars are mostly in North Gateway for oil and filter changes, along with brake jobs and tire changes. The guys at the Service Desk refer to my mom as "The Fleet Manager" which I love. My dad called one time to see if our car was finished, he did not realize that we had another car in the shop. The guys laughed when I called 10 minutes later to see if the other car was finished. North Gateway does all of this at a good price and great people. If they do not perform something that needs to be done to your car they will tell you where to go. North Gateway is definitely five stars in my book!!! read more

I heard about these guys from a friend and when I realized that my tires were not only leaking from wear and tear, but that I could actually get snow tires here AND storage for my off-season tires, I was definitely going to give them a try. I was thrilled with the service - I called ahead, they were able to take me right away AND the best part of all is that waiting was easy because they had free WIFI and an office space where you could plug in your computer and get work done. Currently charging customers $5 to $10 more per tire than nearby shops. Although workmanship is good and I would use them to do other work on my vehicle tires I would shop around. This place is great. I made an appointment for 2 tires and an alignment, I arrived a half hour early for my appointment and figured I'd have to wait around until they brought my car in. That wasn't the case, the technician came out and got my car right away and was very friendly. I had my 2 kids with me and was worried that they wouldn't be entertained, they played in the kids korner for the hour and a half we were there. They are honest about what your car needs and don't try to rip you off, even though I'm a woman and know pretty much nothing about cars. They always try to get you the best deal. I stopped in to have my tire looked at due to "low pressure". I ended up having a nail, 2 staples, and a screw in it. They were able to repair my tire while I waited and get this.......THEY DID NOT EVEN CHARGE ME! I did not previously purchase my tires for this vehicle here either so they totally did not have to do that. They were professional, courteous, and have exceptional customer service! I had a sidewall rupture on my zero turn mower tire and the dealer suggested North Gateway Tire. I walked in at 4 minutes before close on a Friday night to drop off the tire. I told the guy behind the counter I would come back the next day to pick it up. He stated that since I lived about 15 min away I should wait about ten minutes and he would save me a trip. 8 min later I had the new tire on the rim back in my car.
