Went for the first time yesterday for our Anniversary the service wasn't great and the temperatures of our pasta were below HOT...! We have been seeing so much hype between the foodie page and TikTok so I thought I was walking into a real Italian delicious pasta. We started with the ZUCCA CHIPS (yum) all we needed was ranch! We Then ordered the Garlic Bread & Good Olive Oil Again temperature was a problem also mixed with a TON of olive oil my bread was soggy but great flavor (would request oil in the side and add when the starter comes to the table) My wife ordered the PESTO chicken pasta and let me tell you that dish is very interesting we order grilled chicken(WELL) and if I'm being honest it came out like pre made Walmart Chicken pre chopped into strips and put in the microwave for preparation plus the whole bowl was green like they poured 3 cups of PESTO all over the pasta. I ordered the original spaghetti and meatballs! Can't go wrong right I love a great simple dish & boom it came out cold and with 1/2 a cup of sauce!!! all noodle and meatballs not only was I disappointed in the temperature I was frustrated because I know for a fact me and my wife cook better homemade meals at home. A bunch of us friends got together for a brunch without kids, and it was amazing. We had the best time on the enclosed patio, the food the drinks everything was perfect and just what we needed for a Sunday out. Update: we also went tonight for dinner with the family!! Omg dinner is amazing too! We had the wagu, chicken parmigiana, scallops and pizza. Everything was so delicious. Our server Eden was amazing and so attentive, the hostesses at the front were great, Hailey at the bar was so informative, and Matt the manager was so helpful and kind. Sooooo good! I came here with a friend on a Friday night. Tip: Make reservations. It was packed starting at 5:15. Our reservation was for 6:00, but we got in 15 minutes early. We started with the shrimp scampi appetizer. It had four large shrimp in a nice garlic-buttery-lemony sauce that we used to dip the slices of grilled bread that came with it. This can be ordered as a full entree, but you have to ask as it's not on the menu. My friend ordered the seasonal pizza, which was an amazingly good combo of chorizo and grilled corn with a cream drizzle. I had comfort food: spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were a good size and very tasty. The spaghetti was odd, but I think it's because it's made there. I told the server it was very soft, not al dente like spaghetti usually is. She told me she could take it back and have the kitchen make the noodles the density I liked. I was surprised at that level of service, but stayed with what I had. If we hadn't had to rush off to get to the Hale Theater, we would have stayed for dessert, as there was a good selection. There are several North locations throughout the valley and I find their food and service to be consistent every time. Italian food isn't my go-to when dining out or getting takeout but every once in a while when you get that craving, North is always a solid choice. All their pastas are homemade and you can really tell when you taste the texture. It has the perfect Al dente bite to it. They have seasonal offerings in addition to their staple menu items. The San Tan location has a very nice atmosphere. They have a large space with indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is all covered and they keep it nice and cool. read more

After seeing a lot of photos and hype around the food and cocktails at this particular Italian eatery my husband and I decided to give it a try. We only had to wait 10 minutes to get a table since it was 8:15pm on a Sunday night. Upon being seated we got a table next to the kitchen which is great because we got to see all the food coming out and being prepared, we considered ourselves lucky! We sat at the table for another 20 minutes before a manager finally came over with waters since we had not been greeted. We asked for some drink suggestions for which we took and put in the garlic bread appetizer. The virgin peach drink I ordered was unfortunately unavailable but a waiter came over to let me pick the virgin Pina colada instead. We got drinks shortly after and then our waiter asked about appetizers for which we realized the garlic bread was never put in. We told him about it and we thought he put in the order until 30 minutes went by without our appetizer or entrees. The table of 8 people that was sat next to us about 10 minutes after we did got drinks, appetizers and entrees before our bread even came out which was delivered after our main courses..... I actually saw one female server take the garlic bread outside to the patio confused where it belonged and took it back to the kitchen to sit under the lamps before our server found it sitting on the food line after our entrees arrived. When all was said and done we spent over $100 on our meal and were not at all happy with the service or the opportunity for the server to make the situation right. We will not be going back since this was our experience. read more

Ahhh where do I start.... It was Saturday night, kids are with their aunt and it's date night. Where should we go? We decided on North Italia as we have not been here yet. We knew there was going to be a wait when we got there and we fully expected it. We put our name down and we're told it would be about an hour. I was luckily able to find two seats at the bar, which was great because we could have some drinks while we wait for our table. The cocktails were amazing. I highly recommend the Veni Vidi Vici. It was absolutely delicious. We decided since we are already sitting at the bar might as well eat there as well. No sense in waiting an hour for a table when we were content at the bar. The rest of the events is the reason for my 3 star review. We ordered the Crispy Calamari for our appetizer. About 30 mins later we still don't have our appetizer. The bartender was kind enough to explain that they burned the first order they made so they started again to make sure it's perfect for us. Perfect I was appreciative of the honest update. When the Calamari arrived it was anything but crispy. It was very doughy and chewy. Certainly not what Calamari should be like. We could not finish the appetizer. For our main entrees we got the Diver Scallops over risotto and the Funghi pizza. The meals took a while as well and when they arrived it left more to be desired for. The scallops we're good but the risotto was very very watery and almost like porridge. Again I could not eat the risotto. The Funghi pizza was not bad. A little burned but not bad. The bartender asked how the meals were and I was honest about the risotto and he said he would take care of it and that desert would be on him. After that the manger came around to apologize for the long wait times and to thanks us for our patience with them. The manager stated that they can do better and to give them another chance next time. For the desert that was on the house we got the butter cake and it was amazing!! It was so delicious and moist. Very very tasty. As we were about to leave I remembered that we never got a text that our table was ready. As we were walking out I asked the hostess to take a look and see when our table was ready or would have been ready and she had no record of us putting our name down. She apologized and stated it may have been deleted on accident. Wow !! Glad we didn't wait for a table. So overall I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. The indoor outdoor concept is great. Especially around this time of year. The staff was nice and friendly but clearly the food left a lot to be desired. Hopefully as they go through their growing pains they are able to get it together. If it wasn't for the friendly staff. The honest and caring bartender and the manager coming around this review would have been a one star. read more

We were so excited to try this! It's been a hot minute since we've been out and this place looked incredible. Now, to be fair, we went for brunch and this is clearly not a brunch place... The food was ok... again, I can't speak to their dinner, which arguably might be better. I got the Americano breakfast and hubby got the carbonara pasta. I really wanted hot sauce with mine but the food was dropped off and the staff fled the area never to be seen again until we were finished... My real reason for the lower star (and possibly not returning) was the service. I ordered the Bloody Mary (which says it comes with charcuterie) and it came out like this. I sipped it, and couldn't stomach it, but finally flagged down the busser for a straw, hoping that if I mixed it, it would improve. It did not. When the check came, the waiter asked if everything was good. I said it was fine, but I didn't like the bloody. No big deal. He mumbled some kind of "oh sorry" and took our card, charged us the full amount, and that was that. All of this was not the worst thing sure, but the service and combo of everything was bad enough that I would be hesitant to try them again for dinner. read more

My husband surprised me on Valentine's Day by taking me here for dinner after we had been wanting to try it for months. We both thoroughly enjoyed the food that was on the Valentine's Day menu that night. We both agreed that the shrimp scampi appetizer was definitely our favorite. It had amazing flavor. Service was a little slow, but our waitress was nice and offered to bring us free bread for the wait. This could have been due to the holiday. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant as well. We frequently visit North Gilbert it's one of our go-to places for a nicer family meal. But everytime it's gone down just little by little by little. The last time we came it was just me and my youngest daughter on a date night and our entrees came out 15 min before our appetizer. We visited last night and ordered the Naples White and it was so dry and kinda burnt. I always get the Braised Short Rib Lumache the whole dish was overly salty, it had no horseradish in it. I know what the dish is supposed to taste like so to pay over $20 for a dish that isn't right is pretty annoying. The rest of my family's food seemed to be ok. I didn't send the food back to get remade since it was so late already almost 9pm and we were starving When you're paying over $100 to have a nice meal you have a certain expectation of how your food should come out and be presented. With a party of 8, we waited a hour to get seated, an hour for our meal and at least 30 mins for our check. I got the crispy calamari which was amazing...definitely crispy and full of meat. For my entree, I got the wagu skirt steak with greens. The steak was good and filling. The salad had a bit too much salt. So we stopped here being new to the area and craving some Italian food. When we walked in we were promptly greeted and seated but things went downhill from there. The waitress who showed up immediately lost interest in us when we didn't order appetizers or drinks. We asked to order and were informed there was no lasagna. Upon asking if that was the only menu item that wasn't available, the waitress said "I don't know let me ask." She returned a few minutes later and informed us everything else was available. We informed the waitress we hadn't been here before and asked if the salads were shareable or what she'd suggest to which she rolled her eyes and replied "You can do whatever you want." It was a pretty dismal opening to coming here and while the restaurant is beautiful inside and very modern the fact that they are out of food that's listed on the menu is pretty strange given the prices. Overall not a place I'd suggest or think I'd ever go back to given the rudeness and sarcasm of the waitress who made sure to toss the check and pen at us before sulking off. Food was good and the reason you get two stars here. **UPDATE** Just saw the reply to my review and that it's the same reply you post to every less than stellar review. Came here on a Thursday during my lunch break and had to wait about 15 minutes before being seated. The environment and ambience of this place is awesome. Definitely feel like you're in a giant farmhouse with so much natural lighting and outdoor seating. But you didn't come here for that, you came for the food and the drinks! Food is extremely tasty and the pasta is made perfectly. Their bolognese is my absolute favorite, and I get it every time. They have a large selection of drinks and cocktails as well, so you definitely won't be disappointed. If you're not looking for pasta, don't worry, they also have some delicious flatbread-type or thin crust pizzas that are delicious as well. When we went they had a pizza special, so it sounds like they'll have rotating dishes as their specials that won't be on the menu, so make sure you ask what those are! Went to North for my son's birthday dinner. I have an onion allergy and my son ordered an appetizer with onion. Manager Sean realized this and completely cleaned the. Table and changed out silverware to ensure I did not get any contamination. He checked in on us several times to ensure everything was great and delivered my meal himself. Afterwords, he let me have 12 pizza boxes for an end of year school project (Basha Elementary 2nd graders thank you). Thank you North and Sean for a wonderful evening. read more

So this was my second visit to north ITALIA. First visit was great but this one not so much. First off wanted lasagne and was told they were out of it at 4:45 pm! Dinner hour was just beginning. Then I ordered the house special that was listed as speciality lasagne with basil sauce only to find out it was a pizza. Frankly it was salty and not good. I've been to the North at Kierland many times and was so excited to hear that they were finally expanding out into the East Valley. I've visited this new Gilbert location a handful of times and have to say I prefer this one's atmosphere/environment. I love the lofty ceilings and indoor/outdoor concept. It feels trendy and upscale but not too foofy or pretentious. Service is always friendly from the hosts and servers, however, the reason for the one-star deduction is the bar/kitchen. Multiple times, we've waited an uncomfortably long time for a drink or for an appetizer. It just seems like they are always running slow or are short-staffed. My absolute favorites here are their Prosciutto Bruschetta, Truffle Garlic Bread, Cacio e Pepe Pizza, Margherita Pizza (ask for it made with vodka sauce if you like spicy - it's AMAZING), Short Rib Cavatelli, Spicy Rigatoni Vodka and the Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast from their brunch menu. I also enjoy the Tuna Crudo, Pig Pizza and Strozzapreti but wouldn't consider them favorites. I would pass on the Breakfast Carbonara Pasta, Zucca Chips (I don't know why people lose their mind over these?), the Calamari and the Arugula & Avo Salad. These have been their weakest dishes I've tried. Overall though, I very much enjoy dining here and I would say we visit at least twice a month. Highly recommend it! read more

We've been waiting for this spot to open up for so long! This was our first time eating at any North Italia restaurant and we loved it! It was their first Friday being open and I think everyone in Gilbert and surrounding area was there to try it out. Because they were new, I think they are figuring out their kinks/training all the new employees. So service was a little wonky, kitchen was backed up, which is the only reason for the 4 star. Hopefully once they figure their flow out, I'll try them again and update my reviews The white truffle garlic bread was absolutely to die for. I could probably order 3 of those for me next time and be fine with that. My wife loves scallops and she got their Diver's Scallops. Those might have been the best scallops I've ever had, honestly. The pesto dish was great! I'm a huge lover of pesto and not afraid of it having too much, buuuut be warned, it is a lot of pesto. Like drenched almost , and I'm completely fine with that, not for everyone! The Bolognese is a signature dish which is fantastic and another must have. Fresh homemade pasta and meat sauce and you can really tell. The pizza is also made fresh with dough that is like a traditional Italian pizza! Great flavors and fresh fresh ingredients. The meatball appetizer is excellent. Came here to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and it was amazing! This was our first time and we already can't wait to be back! The cocktails were delicious and tasty. The Cesar salad was probably one of the best Cesar salads we had. We also HAD to try the pizza. We had "The Pig". It was delicious! Crust was light and crispy. The spicy vodka dish actually had a really good spice that I am still craving! The braised beef pasta was so tasty and the meat was tender as well. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we had a free dessert and chose the tiramisu. Holy smokes it was amazing! There are little chocolate covered wafer balls and it gave the tiramisu that extra sweetness crunch. It was the "cherry on top" to a flavorful dessert. A nice upscale Italian spot in Gilbert. Ambiance is fun- open and large so very loud- expect to have to shout over your meal on a busy Friday or Saturday night. But it's a fun vibe with the bar central and a pretty outdoor seating area that is right next to Wildflower. I Suggest ordering any of the house made fresh pastas- it's what they are best at. Very good! The portions are not large/shareable though. Our 14 year old got the gluten free pasta option (he is anaphylactic allergic to all wheat) - he was starving after finishing his meal and so we ordered him a second dish! It was an appetizer sized serving- and they charged us extra for subbing in gluten free pasta- which is annoying. Hence the 4 stars- really 3.5 in my opinion. North Italia in Gilbert, AZ is scheduled to open Sept 22, 2021. This evening my wife and I had the fortune of being invited to a friends and family pre opening event. We arrived five minutes before our 7pm reservation and DJ, the marketing manager at the door, said if we wanted to sit on the large patio we could be seated immediately. If we wanted to be inside it was a short wait. We opted for inside since it's still 100f in the evening here in Arizona. After a short fifteen minutes we were seated at a two-top near the kitchen area in the back corner. This evening's menu was limited as it was a training evening, but my wife and I both found dishes that appealed to us. My wife also ordered a virgin Margarita that she really enjoyed. She said it tasted like Limeade, which she obviously enjoys. The ambiance when we sat down was quite design centric with lowlights throughout, faux candles and fresh cut flowers. It reminded me a little of Culinary Dropout which is also owned by Fox Concepts, the parent company. Our server, Kenzie, was very sweet albeit pretty green around the edges. She will continue to learn and improve & met our every need throughout our experience. We began our food courses with a shared appetizer of the Chef's Board. As a person who only eats a Keto diet, I appreciate a good board. The crescenza was lovely as was the pecorino stagionato. I'm a cheese whore so I was right at home with both of those. As we ate our appetizer, the lights that had been essentially nonexistent in our area of the restaurant were brought up a bit, and later the manager, Lance, told us they were still testing out the ideal brightness. I'm so glad they turned them up a bit since we, at first, were reading the menu with our cell phone lights. After the appetizer, we had the fish. While we had no idea what Branzino was we did have trusty Google to tell us it was a light, flaky sea bass. My wife ordered that. I ordered the Salmon. We split both. The fish didn't take very long to prepare before our meals were in front of us. Both had broccolini, which we enjoyed a lot. The roasted lemons we used for both fish added the right hint of citrus, and the caramelized cauliflower was awesome. Both meals were lovely albeit we both wished there were larger portions of veggies involved. For dessert, my wife was recommended the Salted Caramel Budino. I tasted the creme fraiche dolloped on top and it was light and fresh. She enjoyed the subtle sugars and salts enmeshed in the custard-like dessert. The entire dessert menu looked awesome while the Tiramisu and Affogato would've been more up my alley. The menu includes some exciting pizzas and salads. Once they open full time, we will be back for lunches in the daytime to experience that vibe. This location for an upscale restaurant like this is ideal as there is nothing quite like this near San Tan Village. I expect this place will always be busy and bring some quality food service to an area sprinkled with a lot of lower end franchise boredom. Other staff members of note: Emma was a wonderful hostess who took us to our table after DJ engaged us outside and checked us in. Delilah was very personable, and we also met Rachel, a manager, who stopped by our table. On the way we stopped to check out the Patio where we spoke to Daniel, one of the staff trainers. Overall everyone we talked to on staff was awesome and seemed to really love the company. Try North Italia. You will love it. So will your date. I'd leave the kids at home as it's a bit pricey (even though they do have in-house etch-a-sketches for the little ones!), but definitely try this place. No idea if they'll do reservations or their plans for that sort of thing but this is one place you will want to experience. You won't be disappointed. read more

Really loved the atmosphere here, however this restaurant is huge and packed full so be prepared to wait a long time to get your food. We ordered the Spicy Meatball Pizza and the Seasonal Farmer's Salad. I liked the salad however I thought the dressing was a bit too sweet for my taste. The pizza was just so so and was a bit bland. I've had much better pizza so this definitely won't be my pizza spot. I'll give it another try and get something different and maybe try out the happy hour too. Very, neigh, exceptionally good! We were seated for two extremely quickly. The front staff seemed eager to seat us and the environment seemed right away appealing. When we were seated, we were given our drinks within five minutes and our appetizer within ten. Compliments to Trevor, our waiter, who was extremely diligent and attentive to our needs; refilling drinks and offering suggestions unprompted. Our appetizer, the White Truffle Garlic Bread, was exceptional, and impressed my boyfriend (which is very difficult to do, might I add!). We also had the Italian Farm salad, which was also thoroughly tasty. I got the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka and he got The Pig, and we were very impressed with those as well. I'd also like to thank Trevor for offering us a free desert as my pasta took a bit longer than expected. Overall 10/10. Where to begin... Last night, my fiancé and I were craving italian and had heard from a friend about North Italia. We had no idea what an amazing meal we were about to have. Let's start with the environment. There is plenty of parking. The building is this beautiful, elevated, open space, with large windows making up 3 of the 4 walls. We went in the evening, so the lighting provided this warm ambience but I can see it being equally as cool in the day. Every employee we interacted with was friendly, polite and helpful. Our server (I'm sad I can't remember her name) was top notch. She was knowledgeable on the specials and really sold us on a number of items (including the seasonal blueberry lemon butter cake with pistachio ice cream ) without being overly salesy. And last but most definitely not least, the food... after our server informed us that all of the pasta and pizza dough is made from scratch in their kitchen every morning, we had to try both. My husband and I have dined at this restaurant fairly frequently since its opening. Yesterday was the worst food we had ever been served, plus the prices have increased 20-30% and the portions were smaller. The restaurant was almost empty and the music was blaring. We shared a Cesar salad and the dressing was lumpy and not very tasty. I had the calamari and it was tasteless except for a side of pickled vegetables, which was so hot (and I love hot food!) I couldn't eat. My husband chose the spaghetti Bolognese which was served in a small bowl and the sauce was sparse and without flavour. I tried the sauce and can confirm I've never had a bolognese sauce so bland and this is their signature dish!! We were served by a very nice waitress who asked if we wanted boxes to bring home the hardly eaten meals. We didn't take her up on the offer. Not sure what has happened to this location of North, but we won't be going back! read more

We have dined at North frequently and the food is normally delicious. Ordered the Grilled Branzino which was very good but the vegetables it was served with were cold and flavorless. They brought an additional side, warm but still not good. I'd recommend they figure out a different aide to accompany the fish with. read more
