I came here for my birthday lunch, and was so excited by all the amazing selections! We ordered the lumache pasta, salmon entree, mussels, truffle bread, and got a free Nutella cake dessert after for my birthday! The lumache is creamy and decadent, while the truffle bread paired perfectly with the pasta. The mussels were good, I just wish there was a little less herbs in it as it took away from the freshness of the seafood. Dessert was the perfect piece on top! We had amazing service and she always made sure we had everything we needed. Ate while watching the FIFA World Cup game, so the environment was nice and buzzing with excitement. I would highly recommend to come for your birthday.
Had a quick lunch here with a client, waited about 5 mins for a table at 12:30pm on a Thursday. Hosts were very friendly and the waiter came immediately to take our drink order. They are doing this summer menu during lunch where you get a choice of appetizer + entree for $25. I got the charcuterie plate which is big enough for two people, and the roasted salmon with pesto and cous cous. All was very flavorful and the kitchen was on top of it. It was packed inside but still felt space between the tables, and noise level wasn't too crazy loud either. Definitely a business casual place.
Hubby and I were visiting California and in the Irvine area, so we decided to stop by North Italia, a place we hadn't been to in a while. We were seated quickly at the bustling bar, and after settling in, our server, Angela M, (septum ring in her nose) brought us menus. Within 10 minutes, she asked if we wanted something to drink. My husband ordered a pitcher of red sangria, and I took a sip. Suddenly, I was done looking at the menu and ready to order. We were seated in limbo for 35 minutes, waiting for Angela M to return with water and ask us what we wanted to eat. It was frustrating because she was serving everyone else, talking to the customers next to us, and not once did she offer us water or ask about our order. I wondered if it was a racial issue or if she was simply a poor server. I was watching her serve everyone else except for us, which was quite interesting. I could have made a big deal, called the manager, and had a complete meltdown because of the terrible service. But I didn't. We just sat there and waited until the bartender turned to us and asked if anyone had served us yet. My husband had to answer him because I was so upset. We finally ordered our food, but my appetite had completely vanished. My husband placed the credit charge in the glass so we could pay. Would you believe that Angela M came out of nowhere and asked us how the meal was? She proceeded to process our bill. The only thing I could do was swallow hard and sign my credit card slip. On the tip line, I wrote a zero. We explained to the bartender that this wasn't a reflection of his service but of Angela M's. He completely understood. I hope North Italia takes this as a lesson learned and trains certain staff members again or has a brief conversation with Angela M about what customer service means. Great service can make all the difference between a 0 tip and a 25% tip. Hopefully, this incident will never happen again to another person again.
I've been wanting to try this place for years but it was always booked the day of, but I was able to snag a reservation for Father's Day dinner. Take time for parking unless you want to pay for valet. I thought this place would be bigger considering it looks big from the outside, but the interior looked beautiful. White Truffle Garlic Bread (5/5): This is a must get to share with your party. The garlic is empowering and the truffle is so packed with flavor. The breast was fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Calamari (5/5): Very big pieces and comes with marinara and spicy mayo sauce. Definitely solid. Yellow tail Crudo (4/5): this raw fish looked a bit disorganized but it was still good. The flavor wasn't as strong, but it satisfied my sushi cravings. Funghi Pizza (5/5); This pizza blew me away. The mushroom flavor was potent and the crust was so fluffy. One of the best pizzas I've had. Cacio e Pepe (5/5): Super cheesy and the pepper flavor was strong. I enjoyed how fluffy the crust was. Spicy Rigatoni Vodka (5/5): Not too flavorful but it was good. Flavor was still impeccable Bolognese (2/5): For a special dish, this actually terrible. The pasta was undercooked as it was still hard eating it. This was one of the dishes that I would ask for a refund for Squid ink tonnarelli (5/5); This was amazing and the best pasta dish of the night. The pasta was cooked perfectly was it was both bouncy and chewy. The squid and shrimp were great with the sauce. This place is good, but pricey and small portion. I'd probably only come here for a special occasion
Great place to host a celebration with a modern sleek interior. We were quickly sat on the patio Monday afternoon. Waiter was friendly and knowledgeable of the various dishes and provided good variety of recommendations. The table started with a white truffle garlic bread dish and it was delicious!! This summer they are offering a summer selection menu of a small plate and entree for $25. I opted for the arancini and roasted salmon (extra $5). Everything was very yummy and I would order it again. The arancini had good depth of cheese. The one thing that was slightly annoying was the arancini would not hold shape when dipped in the sauce on the side.
Finally had dinner at North Italia after driving by it for years. We came for dinner on a weekend with reservations. If you're familiar with this shopping center then you already know parking is horrible so we chose to valet. The sign says cash only but they take credit cards. The menu has a lot to offer and I was happy to see they have mocktails. For apps we got the house made focaccia and calamari. The calamari had a unique breading that I didn't care for but the rest of my group loved it. Next time I'll go straight for the focaccia. The bread was fresh from the oven and the whipped ricotta was incredible! Because I'm a sucker for pasta I got the bolognese, which was tasty but very rich. Overall it was good food and attentive service even on a busy evening. It makes for a nice date night spot.
North Italia is one of my favorite chains. Everything on their menu is delicious and I always want to order 2-3 of everything. My favorites: - Zucca Chips - White Truffle Garlic Bread - Calamari Fritti - Bolognese - Squid Ink Tonnarelli I'm always too full to get dessert but I'm pretty sure I would love them too.
So I was excited to come here because I saw they had a lunch special deal. However, they failed to tell you that it expired on May 31 very disappointed. The restaurant also says it opens at 11 AM. We got there at 11:07, and they were still not ready for all the guests. We ended up waiting outside for another 5 to 10 minutes before we were even seated. Service was decent. However our Stromboli came out before our steak salad. Thought that was very odd, since a salad is pretty much just the raw vegetables. My friend did ask for her steak well done, however, it came out tough as can be, and it was also burnt. But since that came out last, we didn't want to send it back. The vegetables itself was fresh and crispy though. Stromboli was good. I also said we were celebrating my friend's birthday. They didn't offer us anything free for her birthday, and they didn't even mention it. I don't know why the reservation asks if we are celebrating anything, if it doesn't matter. Overall it's ok.
Wonderful Italian restaurant with incredible food and vibes. The parking lot nearby the restaurant is valet only, but in the overall plaza there is plenty of free parking. The food is fantastic, both the pizza and pasta were cooked to perfection and very delicious. They have a large indoor dining area as well as a large bar are outdoor patio area for watching sports. It gets quite busy so best to book a reservation ahead of time. Staff are all very friendly and helpful.

Great spot for quality Italian food. We came here to celebrate a birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. The food and ambiance were amazing. Service was also very friendly. We ordered the white truffle garlic bread, which was so flavorful and paired well with the ricotta. For pizza, we got the Margherita and Hot Nashville Chicken. All were really good. The crust was thin and crispy. All the pastas were also amazing. We ordered the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka, Trottole Chicken Pesto, and Fettuccine Alfredo. The sauces were creamy, and the pasta tasted fresh and high quality. The only downside was that it was definitely on the pricier side, and the portions weren't very large, especially since we were dining with a bigger group. But for an upscale experience, it's a great spot.
The Irvine North Italia is by far the best location!!!! It's just a classic. I will never get over the White Truffle Bread Appetizer, it is seriously delicious & is served hot & perfect in a skillet. The Yellowtail crisp is a delicious appetizer option too!!!! So many flavors are put on one plate & rly compliment one another. They put lime, pistachios, & pineapple with the fish & it's soooo yum. OFCCCC U HAVE TO GET THE SPICY RIGATONI VIDKA PASTA. Like it's just that freaking good make sure at least one person in your party orders it. I always replace the sausage with meatballs though. For dessert we grabbed some dirty almond chai coffees that were soooo good & give u a nice kick of caffeine. We also got the banana caramel butter cake that was too insane. So warm with crispy edges & paired with a vanilla bean ice cream.
We decided to come here for lunch totally unplanned. I've been here several times, but it was more than four years since I dined there. I expected it to be crowded as usual and that parking would be insane. Fortunately, and surprisingly, there was plenty of parking. As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by a hostess. When I observed the dining area of the restaurant, it was approximately thirty percent full. The bar contained about the same amount of occupants. We waited two minutes and the hostess took us to our table. Once we were seated, our server immediately came to our table to greet us and take our beverage order. When she came back with our waters, we both ordered the parmesean chicken sandwich. Our orders arrived and I realized I made a huge mistake as I didn't read what was included in the sandwich. I don't eat pork and prosciutto is included. I apologized to our server and told her about my error. She said it would not be an issue at all to make me a new sandwich without the prosciutto. Once my sandwich arrived, I dove in, and it was good! I wish the chicken was a little meatier and juicy, though. I also didn't really taste too much of the mozzarella and provolone. I love that melted cheese you get with the bite, but it sort of was lacking. The sauces were prevalent and tasty. It wasn't the best I've had, but still good, nonetheless. I had a side of salad and it was just a regular mixed green salad. The service was fantastic! Our server was extremely attentive and friendly. I didn't catch her name, but she had her long, blondish-brown hair in a ponytail braid. I love the ambiance with how open, bright, and airy it feels. Here's the breakdown: Food - 4/5 Service - 5/5 Ambiance - 5/5 I would definitely recommend this place for drinks and appetizers with a really nice ambiance and great service!
we celebrated a friends birthday at North Italia and it was just a great time. Folks who served us were incredibly nice, their outdoor patio was warmed with lamps, and drinks came by smoothly. This place has been around for quite and while, and on my list for quite a while; I finally made it and the food did not disappoint. Arrived for a weekday lunch and the place was hopping! This is a very cute place with a large dining area inside. All of their pastas and pizzas are handmade and made with fresh ingredients. I came here with my family so we ordered a few appetizers to share. My favorite appetizer were the meatballs with polenta. I also enjoyed the white truffle garlic bread by dipping it in the ricotta cheese that's served with it. We also ordered the calamari that tasted good as well, I just prefer different breadcrumbs. To drink, I ordered a non-alcoholic drink, la spezia. It was a very good blood orange drink. I ordered the bolognese and thought it was properly made. It was just the right amount of food, so I was able to order dessert. Their tiramisu was my favorite thing I ate here. I like their addition of crispy chocolate pearls with the tiramisu. North Italia is def one of my go to Italian restaurants in OC especially when I want to take my friends from out of town for lunch and dinner. A must have from North Italia is the Truffle Garlic Bread! It's honestly the best one out there, super fluffy, airy, and aromatic. The ricotta cheese and truffle flavor pairs very well together. The pizza dough was a little tough but flavors were tasty still! All the pastas were cooked nicely with flavors that were palatable for our big group. I made reservations on Saturday (on the day of) for a party of 13 and the hosts and servers were all very accommodating of our party size and seated us at the time stated. Our server was very well informed about the menu, giving us great recommendations, and was extremely attentive to the allergies present at the table! Great space, service, and solid food! Seriously impressed by this cozy Italian gem. We tried the spicy rigatoni pasta and funghi pizza and both were bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The seasonal vegetable salad was just okay, not the highlight, but it did make me curious to try more of their salad options next time. We opted for their white truffle garlic bread and cauliflower as our starters. Their garlic bread is a MUST TRY. Had a nice crisp to each bite while also being light. ordered the spicy rigatoni vodka pasta to-go and it took around 15 minutes. we came around 1 pm and it was very crowded. inside is very spacious, clean with nice interior. there's plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. parking can be crowded as well. the pasta was delicious. it was very flavorful and the meat was juicy. the texture was good but i wish it was a bit more chewy. some noodles were soft and some were more chewier than others. overall, it was very delicious but a bit on the pricier side. it was about $30 total in the end. would still come back again if ever in the area! read more

Parking is hard to find + long wait time (~30 minutes) + friendly service + gorgeous interior and ambience, very much like an open house with high ceilings and outdoor seating that embodies summer. We ordered the white truffle garlic bread ($18.5), moscato d'asti ($13), roasted salmon ($28), bolognese ($27.5), margherita pizza ($23), and funghi pizza ($24). Everything tasted amazing, the white truffle garlic bread is ridiculously good (inspired me to try and make it at home (: ) the salad was delightful and my friends had the pesto chicken pasta and margarita pizza. Come here for lunch. It's far less ppl than the dinner crowd and makes the environment much more relaxing. I really enjoyed the food here. You really can't go wrong no matter what you pick. I went with the house specialty pasta bolognese and it was soo good. Just keep in mind that meatballs are extra. I got two meatballs and I believe it was an additional $10 or something. My friend got the salmon and it looked really good as well. The presentation of the food was amazing. The waiter told us that the chefs in the back are so focused on their work, the servers aren't even allowed to speak to them directly. Talk about intense! The main courses left me stuffed but I couldn't leave without trying some of their dessert. I'm glad I did. Definitely try the bambolini and the tiramisu. I still dream about them. Yum! Have been here a few times and the food always seems to be great. This particular time we came to try the holiday prefix menu that was going on, which was an appetizer and dinner plate for $25. Definitely a great deal. Appetizers were good. Chicken parm verde was different than I imagined because they just add a drizzle of pesto on the top however if they had a pesto sauce in place of marinara I think that would've been better. Still a good dish, the pasta that paired with it was flavorful. The shrimp scampi was flavorless and super bland, which was disappointing because we were excited for it! Regardless this has been one of the spots we occasionally like to come to. read more

Just an update: my wife called the restaurant to report the incident that happened last time. She spoke with Angie, the "General Manager," and was told that they would either send a gift card or email her. However, nothing was ever sent, and instead, my wife was told to come to the restaurant to pick it up personally. So we went there to meet with her and collect it. Thank you, Angie, for the $50 gift card for my wife's bruises and injuries from that incident. We honestly felt very offended by the way this situation was handled and by the judgment shown by the manager. Please be careful with this restaurant. Due to their negligence and failure to place any wet floor signs, someone got injured -- and apparently, they think a $50 gift card is enough compensation for that. read more

Everything is tasty here! We started with the calamari and it was perfectly crispy and flavorful. The kale salad was amazing; super fresh and the beet and chicken with avocado salad was just as great. For mains, I had the squid ink pasta (rich and flavorful) and the lasagna, which was absolutely delicious but not your typical lasagna; more like pasta and cream underneath with a few pasta layers. The truffle garlic bread is a must-order ;easily one of the highlights of the meal; and the deep-fried ricotta balls were a fun, cheesy item. Even the pizza was excellent, with that perfect thin, slightly chewy crust. North Italia is one of those spots where you really can't go wrong no matter what you order. read more

In my opinion this is more of an upscale restaurant with above average food. I ordered the Bolonese spaghetti and Truffle garlic bread. The Bolonese was like a soupy meat sauce. Nothing special at all. I didn't think much of the bread either. This is the type of place for the South County yuppies to go on a date night. Lunch service was very slow. I didn't get a tea refill until after I was done eating. I got there at opening but when I left it looked like the whole parking lot was Valet parking. This is a one and done for me. I'm sticking to Roma D Itilia in Tustin for good home cooking Italian food at reasonable prices. read more

Came in on a Friday night with a few friends I hadn't seen in four months. It was obviously busy, which we completely understood. Our drinks took quite a while to come out, and our appetizers actually arrived before our drinks. Again, we knew it was a busy night, and our server was very sweet and clearly running around nonstop, so we tried to be patient and didn't press her about the delay. We were so caught up talking that we didn't initially realize how long our entrees were taking. A manager stopped by, apologized for the wait, and told us she would take care of our entrees, which we truly appreciated. Later, our server offered us a complimentary dessert. We declined at first, but she insisted, so one of my friends took a tiramisu to go. When the bill came, the only item removed was the dessert -- not the entrees we were told would be taken care of. We had been seated at 7:30 PM and didn't leave until 10 PM, which felt like a very long dinner. I asked to speak with the manager who had offered to comp the entrees, but she wasn't available. Another manager came over with her, and she then stated she never said she would take care of the entrees -- only that they would be "right out." Unfortunately, the food still took about another 20 minutes after that conversation, and it didn't all come out at the same time. It was uncomfortable and honestly a bit embarrassing to have four of us feel confident about what we heard, only to have it questioned. To make matters worse, I stopped eating pork five years ago and ordered the spicy rigatoni with sausage substituted for shrimp. After waiting so long and being very hungry, I took several bites before realizing it still had sausage in it. My dish then had to be taken back and remade, adding even more wait time. I took the time and emailed them on 6/25 and sadly still haven't heard back from the Guest Services team. Very disappointed, again. I imagined they would care to right their wrong. I love North Italia and this is such a beautiful location. They have a large patio and the decor and ambience is modern and beautiful. The food is out of this world. We started with the charcuterie board and it was what dreams are made of! Then we ordered pizza and the shrimp scampi. The bread is enough to keep you coming back for more. Service was top notch and the drinks were delish! Parking can be a bit tricky with how busy this location is but valet is also an option if you don't want to hunt for a spot in the busy lot. I gotta be the worst yelper ever! I've frequented North Italia quite a few times and sadly this is my first post. Totally lagging. For being a corporate chain restaurant their execution on the dishes are amazing. For reference and it's not difficult to make Cheesecake Factory look bad but if CF is 2.5/5 this is a solid 4.3/5 Dinner was amazing! Started with Firestone 805 glass of beer from draught, had the wild shrimp scampi appetizer, lil gem Caesar salad, and lasagna Bianca. I can go into details about each dish but know that for being a chain restaurant they capture the details and flavors so well i can be blind folded and convinced I was seated at a small mom and pop trattoria. I went to North Italia on a whim and it was probably one of the best decisions ever! First of all, the waitresses are all so nice and also very nicely dressed, I love the addition of this! The inside of the restaurant is also so homey and the outside as well, has super cute decorations on the seating. Anyways moving onto the food!Although most of my friends and I got the spicy vodka pasta all of us enjoyed it a lot and I enjoyed it a lot, it was also my first time having it and I loved it so much. My friend got a shrimp scampi and I also liked that a lot, it was so buttery in a good way and the shrimp was cooked to perfection. North Italia, a reliable restaurant to celebrate friends. Came here to celebrate a friends acceptance into law school. Hosts were friendly and got us seated right away (we had a reservation at 6:15pm) Food was amazing as always, but this review is about the service. NOT the quality of food but the QUALITY of service and dissatisfaction in our dining experience. Once we got seated, our server Nick B. came a couple minutes later to take our drink order. Usually they always acknowledge if there is a birthday or celebration, but no acknowledgement this time which is no big deal. We ordered Shirley temples and I said can you make sure there was no alcohol due to an allergy (I didn't know those were called dirty Shirley's) he said "obviously" he wouldn't give us that. We do look young but my friends and I are over the legal age of drinking. He said he would give us a couple minutes to look over the menu which was great. But this is when everything started to go poorly. He ignored our table several times whilst taking the orders for the other tables aligned with ours. He would make eye contact with us then walk away or completely ignored us when we tried to flag him down. 20 minutes had passed by when he finally came back he asked us if the drinks were well. He was about to immediately walk away after, NOT even offering to take our orders. My friend interrupted him and told him we r ready to order. We ordered the seasonal vegetable salad, chicken Parm, fungi pizza, and squid Ink pasta. We said that we would share the salad as an appetizer meaning that it will come first. Another 20-25 minutes went by and nothing. No food or salad or server in site. We finally got our food at 7:18 A WHOLE HOUR SINCE WE GOT SAT WENT BY and we barely got the food. All the pasta and pizza arrived at our table yet NO SALAD IN SIGHT. How is it that a simple salad was not even at our table prior to the entrees. To add to it, the audacity our server had to come to our table several minutes later questioning "you didnt get the salad yet?" I work in food and understand that it gets busy, especially during the holiday season, but the GUEST always comes first and ALWAYS check when food is coming out and alert the paying customers. We were honestly so upset and starving. But what's the point in eating a salad after the entree so we told him to cancel it. I then asked for some Parmesan cheese on the side. He forgot. I had to ask either it was the hostess or manager or busser to please bring me some which they brought in an instant. 5 more minutes went by and Nick came back to the table and immediately left to get me the Parmesan he forgot. Food was delightful though. Once we finished he brought us the check and the dessert menu. We noticed he didn't do that with any of his other tables. He offered dessert to the other tables and checked on them very frequently but always shot passed our table like we were in invisible. I'm not sure if it was because we looked younger in comparison to the other ones dining in. But it seemed like he paid little to no attention to us just because we looked younger and probably assumed we wouldn't tip as nice. The people on both sides of us got their orders taken almost immediately with a friendliness that wasn't truly given to us. A tip reflects the service and unfortunately the service was the worst service I have gotten in years. We were there for 2-2.5 hours with just entrees, a shared dessert, and a couple of Shirley temples and mocktails. 75% of that time was us trying to find our server. North Italia has never disappointed us. But today truly irked me. I understand if one is having a bad day and is feeling a little sluggish or off, but he could have communicated. He could have said "sorry there is a delay we are extremely busy today" instead we were ignored and all the older more "middle aged" people got the better side of Nick. We hope there is an improvement in service and hope that the quality in servers improves and that when the Brea location opens, standards of service and food do not waiver. read more

Do I have to make a reservation?
We walked up with no reservation and gave our name and were seated in 5 minutes. The restaurant has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We were there Sunday evening at 5:15 pm.

Yes. There's a specific lady to talk to... according to the website they can accomodate up to 250 people. Be aware though that parking sucks... you either have to park over by Mother's & walk a few hundred yards or valet it...

Yes, there are TVs at the bar area, but from most tables they are not that visible. There are no TVs in the general seating area.

Yes they do have a pretty good happy hour! I don’t have a picture of the happy hour menu, but there are things like 1 pizza and a glass of wine for ~$11.
Hi, do you put pork in your Spaghetti?
The menu says "SPAGHETTI & MEATBALLS traditional tomato sauce, basil, olive oil, pecorino cheese" for the BOLOGNESE it says "traditional meat sauce, tagliatelle noodle & grana padano cheese"... so it doesn't say... sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
