My friends and I decided to check out North Italia for the first time a few weeks ago. We went on a Friday afternoon around 4pm and were seated immediately without a wait. The restaurant is super aesthetic inside. Lots of big windows, plants everywhere, fun furniture. It feels upscale right from the start. Our server was pleasant and approachable. She was able to answer a couple questions we had on menu. We decided to start with the Cacio e Pepe pizza. This was very good - probably my favorite bite of the night. For entrees, we got the Braised Short Rib Lumache, Ricotta Cavatelli, and Chicken Scarpariello. We all enjoyed our meals, but none of them were exceptional. Comments on the Scarpariello was that it needed acid to break-up all the richness. I felt the same about the Short Rib Lumache. Everything sort of tasted like a leveled-up Olive Garden. I'm not in a particular rush to return, but I would if invited or in the area. read more

We visited during Arizona Restaurant Week to try their special menu. For the small plates, I ordered the heirloom tomato & burrata and absolutely loved it. It came with grilled ciabatta, arugula, shaved red onion, and a Calabrian vinaigrette. The burrata was incredibly creamy and paired perfectly with the tomatoes, while the crunchy ciabatta added a wonderful contrast in texture. My husband chose the Sicilian meatballs, which were served over creamy polenta with rustic marinara and grana padano, also a very solid dish. For our entrees, we had the hot honey & smoked prosciutto pizza and the strozzapreti, a pasta dish with herb-roasted chicken, mushroom, spinach, parmesan cream, truffle, and pine nuts). Both were fantastic! The pizza nailed that sweet and savory flavor profile, and the crust was absolutely perfect. The strozzapreti was also delicious -- rich, creamy, and packed with mushroom and truffle flavor. Last time we visited the North Italia Phoenix location, the pasta was a bit too soft and lacked that proper al dente bite, but this time it was cooked flawlessly. Unfortunately, the desserts were a letdown. We tried the hazelnut torta and the tiramisu, but both were overwhelmingly sweet. The tiramisu tasted soggy, like it had been sitting in the fridge for a long time instead of being freshly made, and the chocolate balls on top felt unnecessary and cheapened the dish. The service was also a bit of a mixed bag. Somehow our desserts were brought out before we had even finished our entrees. As a result, the ice cream on top of the hazelnut torta just sat there melting by the time we were ready for it. We decided to give this restaurant another shot, and unfortunately it was still a big no for me. The $12 focaccia came out burnt and dry, so I had to send it back. I ordered the grilled branzino, but it was actually red snapper, which normally wouldn't have been a huge issue, except the vegetables on the side were ice cold, limp, and honestly looked like they came from a frozen packet. It was also a tiny portion -- basically one small piece of cauliflower and one piece of broccoli. The fish itself was tough, overcooked, and honestly just not good. I ended up swapping it for a pasta dish, which was definitely better, but overall the experience was still really disappointing. read more

First time here and wasn't disappointed: Italian meatballs and zucchini chips to start us off. The red sangria was decent but for $12.50 could have been a bit larger. I ordered the dinner fixe:@$45 Italian meatballs, spicy rigatoni vodka and salted caramel bundino. My friend got the short rib mushroom meal. Both were delicious. The whipping cream, chocolate and toffee pieces were my favorite from the dessert. We ended up taking half of our entree home. Service was great-thank you Taylen. Unfortunately, this was probably one of the worst dining experiences I've had. We waited about an hour just to get our appetizers, and when they finally came out, there was a straw wrapper inside one of our meatballs. We immediately told our server and the manager. The manager even said that finding a wrapper inside the food was "disgusting" and told us that the meatballs would be taken off our bill. However, when we received the bill, they were still charged. For a $260 meal, I expect much better service and attention to detail. The entire experience took around two hours, with a significant amount of time spent waiting. We were also celebrating a birthday and specifically told the staff, but there was absolutely no acknowledgment of it. On top of everything else, we were never given an itemized receipt, which we found very strange, especially considering there was an issue with our bill. Between the extremely slow service, finding a wrapper in our food, being told the item would be removed and then still being charged, the birthday being completely overlooked, and not receiving an itemized bill, this experience was incredibly disappointing. The food was discussing, extremely oily greasy bland with no flavor pasta wasn't cooked enough and all the meat was hammered. What made the experience even worse than that was the deplorable waitress service as I had to refill my own water cups twice and get my own silverware. no I've had this restaurant and other locations were the service and the food was much better. I don't know what happened to cause it to go downhill so poorly. They truly need to put a drive-through window in this location. if you're unfortunate enough to get the server by the name of cadence, avoid her like the plague. What a disappointment! From entry to exit. I think everybody that was working was passive aggressive from the hostess to the waitress. The hostess when she realized we were there greeted us then asked if we had a reservation. I said no we did not. She then said it would be about. 20 minutes wait. She then said it could be inside, outside, patio or something else. I said I didn't want outside. She then said well then you can sit in the bar it is open seating, perfect. We find a high top and sit down. The waitress comes over and tells us we are not supposed to be sitting there but she will go ahead and help us. Took forever for her to come take our drink order, our food arrived via another waitperson. He was so nice. Asked if he could get us anything etc. the pizza was pizza. I personally did not like the sauce. I got the cavatelli with ump crab. The food tasted wonderful; however portion size was small. The bottom of the bowl was covered but that was it. I left there unsatisfied and for $26 it should have been at the very least satisfying. I am normally one to take half my food home and that was definitely not the case tonight. We were here for only dessert in the middle of an afternoon. Staff were very nice and attentive. They have really comfortable and relaxing patio too so it was difficult to leave. Came to enjoy dinner with my love and my son tonight. Nate was our server and he was upbeat, cordial, and super attentive. My water was filled the whole night without me needing to say anything, which was fabulous because I felt like I was parched! He provided us great service with a smile and he definitely made our night memorable. We enjoyed some zuc chips and meatballs for appetizers, both were soooo good! The chips came with a pesto sauce that really made the flavors of the chips more pronounced, and the meatballs tasted so hearty... the sauce they came in was delightful and so was the cheesy goodness they had mixed in and in top. Excellent starters. We then ordered the honey hot smoked prosciutto pizza, as per recommendation by Nate. Since my partner and son don't like arugula, we only put it on half and they opted to add basil instead to their side, which was a tasty substitution. Glad the kitchen was able to do that. For dessert we enjoyed a brookie sundae - came out in a tall martini looking glass with fixings to add to your liking, strawberries, bananas, walnuts, chocolate drizzle and chocolate pearls. We added all and it was fantastic! It was actually pretty busy when we arrived, there was a 20 min wait; which we didn't expect but it went by quickly. The music was chill and we sat outside on the patio. The weather is so nice right now, it was perfect. North has not disappointed, and this time was no exception. Me and husband decided to go on a early date during the day. We walked in were greeted, very nice gal at the front. We waited maybe 15 minutes wasn't too bad. The Ambiance was cool, earthy, modern vibes. I love the natural plants there. The service was pretty quick. The meals were very tasty. This was my first time at this North Italia, and it definitely feels a little different compared to the locations in Phoenix and Scottsdale. The menu has some overlap with familiar items, but there are also noticeable differences. The building is new clean and pretty but the vibe and design don't quite match the cozy feel of the other locations. For food, I ordered the Hot Italian Stromboli and the Prosciutto Pizza (a favorite of ours from the other restaurants). Both were really good, and our drinks were solid as well. I tried the Gin Pomegranate Mule, which tasted nice, but I was a bit disappointed that it came in a regular glass instead of a copper mug it didn't feel much like a "mule" that way. The food was dropped by someone else and the server never came back to check the order. Had she checked- 1-They failed to add Basil into my pizza 2-Forgot the Bomba sauce for my pizza 3-Added arugula into my beets...after I literally said I can't tolerate arugula 4- while we asked the gal that dropped the food for cheese, she brought a little cup for 4 meals...not really enough After trying to eat and not having anymore Coke to drink I decided I'd just take it all home. (We were also fighting a fly off our food the entire time.) When the server came by we told her the missing sauce/arugula/ fly and asked for boxes and a coke to go. She brought the boxes and the check; we sat there for an awkward amount of time with cash waiting... I finally noticed on the bill to scan to pay. I felt she received a decent $22 tip for taking the order and finally getting us a refill and handing us boxes and the bill! Tipping on the total food order is appropriate; not the food AND tax amount added together. I had to pay from the receipt scan bar since she never came back to pick up the cash, I also had to use my phone number to log in and "Agree to the terms" I FINALLY got my Bomba sauce; it was ice cold, I was told that's how it's served. The good is the atmosphere and the 1st 15 minutes getting your drinks your cocktails and looking over the menu. ALL down hill from there! This was last Saturday night Aug 22th The restaurant wasn't crowded. The waiter, who said he was only working there part time, seemed like he knew what he was doing. We received the drinks and appetizers in a proper time frame. We placed our order and didn't see the waiter for 40 minutes. He came out to check to see how our food was. We didn't have any! He apologized and when to check the kitchen. Came back to say they were platting it and it would be out in 5 minutes. The manager came out with it. Didn't apologize in any way. My other daughter tried this and said it was really good. 10/10 would recommend! We went in for a little date night and truly enjoyed our whole meal! We started with the Cacio e Pepe arancini, which were fried perfectly and had a wonderful balance of flavor. The cheese to pepper ratio was spot in and we appreciated the strong pepper taste. The rice was cooked perfectly as well. We also enjoyed the pesto aioli it came with. For dinner I got the lasagna Bianca and my hubs got the bolognese. The braised beef was extremely tender and the béchamel was so creamy. I'm happy I will have a yummy lunch tomorrow from my left overs lol. My hubs enjoyed his dish as well, and said the pappardelle was cooked al dente as it should! His only feedback was the vessel: a shallow bowl or deep plate would be better for enjoying the bolognese as it would make it easier to scoop up the remaining sauce into the fork, whereas the bowl didn't have a lip or edge to allow for that. (This did not impact the meal of course) For dinner we enjoyed the tiramisu. I personally am not really a fan of tiramisu because of texture but north just makes a quality one. The balance of mouse, to soaked (not soggy) lady fingers, and crunch from the chocolate pearls truly makes for a satisfying bite texturally and flavor wise. Overall it was a wonderful experience from the nice smiles we were greeted with at the door to our server. He was very kind and helped us make a decision on meals. The patio is ginormous so imagine Az when the weather is a perfect 75 with a soft breeze so you throw on your light cardigan while sipping a ginger lemonade... I mean you get it right Sheer perfection For an entree we ordered the garlic shrimp that was packed with flavor. Not to mention the perfectly toasted bread that we dipped in garlic butter For me my favorite entree was the salmon. This was my first time dining at North Italia, and I was excited to try it out. A new location recently opened in Peria, so we decided to check it out. From the moment we arrived, the first impressions were fantastic--there was plenty of parking and a spacious, grassy area right in front of the restaurant, giving it a welcoming vibe. We only waited about five minutes before our table was ready, which was a nice start to the experience. Since we were having a late lunch, we opted to share a few appetizers. We ordered the Chef's Board, White Truffle Garlic Bread, Calamari Fritti, and Italian Meatballs. Everything was delicious, but the White Truffle Garlic Bread stood out as a favorite--it was amazing! Just as we thought we were done, my husband decided to order a few more dishes. We added the Tuscan Kale with Shrimp, Funghi Pizza, and Squid Ink Tonnarelli. Let's just say we ended up with *way* more food than we could handle! By the end, we were stuffed and had plenty of leftovers to take home. Overall, the food was pretty good. The Tuscan Kale with Shrimp was a bit too sour for my taste, as it had a heavy dressing--I should've asked for the dressing on the side. The Squid Ink Tonnarelli was slightly undercooked for our liking, making the pasta a bit too chewy. That said, the flavors were still enjoyable. Our server was fantastic--attentive, friendly, and proactive. She brought us fresh silverware and plates without us even asking, which was a nice touch. The Calamari looked like onion rings (beer battered) and tasted only as good as the best onion rings I've had in my life but were way more expensive and you don't get a ton. The Lumache Alla Norcina, it was on their board as a special, the pasta and sausage are excellent. They offered a Short Rib upgrade for 7 bucks, turn it down, it's no where near as good as the dish on it's own. I did have a friendly convo about what was in the short rib, shredded on top of the pasta, cuz i didn't like it and wanted to know what was in it. After some convo, the chef decided to make another kind of short rib, a sweet one. It was amazing. Sadly not on the menu. Hopefully they will add it, if you see a sweet short rib in the future, get it! read more

We went around noon on a Sunday. I really liked everything we ordered. The only thing I didn't like was the pistachio butter cake. It was dry and tasted nothing like a butter cake. The gelato was amazing though. Definitely getting that again. Okay so the food: we ordered a pizza, chicken tenders...I can tell they were made fresh and not frozen. Never expect much from chicken tenders but those were delicious. We also ordered the steak and eggs. My husband did like it only thing was he would have preferred the sauce on the side and not on the steak. I ordered the bolognese pasta. Lasagna was tasty but way too small. The Tottole Chicken Gnocchi Pesto had good noodles, but the sauce was runny and the capers made it too acidic. Drinks: Tried the Watermelon Sugar cocktail which was decent, too strong and not balanced. Desserts: We highly enjoyed the tiramisu which was our initial reason for coming. Light, rich, and decadent. The Good. I decided to visit North Italia Peoria with a friend for lunch after hearing good reviews of the restaurant. Upon arriving, I was impressed with the decor and ambiance. There is a lovely outdoor patio with lots of plants. Inside, the seating areas are spacious, with pleasing details such as fresh flowers at each table and attractive place settings. The kitchen runs along one wall and is visible to the patrons, with their extensive bar on the opposite side. The food is simply amazing. I had the "small plate meatballs" ($17), which is listed as an appetizer but is large enough for a full meal with three mouthwatering meatballs over a bed of perfectly cooked polenta, and covered with a rustic style marinara. If it wasn't obvious already, I was delighted with it. My lunch mate had the Hot Italian Stromboli ($16). Tip: it's Spicy with a capital S! It was also delicious. But what stole the show was our order of white truffle garlic bread. It comes in bite sized pieces of toasted and buttered sourdough bread and is topped with ricotta cheese and Parmesan. It is heaven in your mouth. It's expensive for an appetizer ($16.50) but is so worth it. For dessert, we had the Seasonal Butter Cake ($13). It is topped with caramel sauce and toasted coconut. The cake was too dense for my liking, but my lunch mate found it delicious. The Bad. Sadly, our waiter was doing double duty as the bartender, so we did not receive much attention at all from him. He took our orders and then we did not see him again for an hour. Yes, an hour. Then we didn't see him again until quite some time after we'd finished eating, and we asked for our bill. Part of our orders were delivered in a fairly timely fashion, but after an hour we still had not received the Stromboli. I snagged a manager who explained that the kitchen was busy filling orders from a party of 16. We finally received the Stromboli after an additional 15 or 20 minutes, but I wondered why they hadn't assigned at least one other cook to prepare food for the other patrons. Be forewarned that the restaurant is a bit pricey, possibly because of its proximity to the sports stadium. For instance, a non-alcoholic sort of lemonade called a mocktail is about $12, entrees range from $26 to $36, and appetizer plates are about +- $15 each. Cocktails average about $15. The Ugly. There really isn't any ugly to report! In spite of the delays we had a lovely meal. We used the "down time" to catch up on each other's lives, and I will be going back again to sample more from their menu. Hopefully next time we will have a full time waiter, and I'll check first to see if we're behind a huge group! read more
