My pup Dash and I absolutely adore North Main Pet Lodge. We've tried a couple other doggy daycares in the area but didn't feel like they gave a thoughtful and personal approach like Chris, Coleen and team do. Most of the other daycares put 30+ dogs in a room with no toys or anything to do so they just wander aimlessly while the staff is on their phones. At North Main Pet Lodge, they have toys and activities for the dogs and they have small group play sessions to provide a safe and fun environment for your dog. They really stand out from the competition because of this. Dash is always so excited to go to daycare here and falls asleep the second he gets in the car after a fun day of play. We're moving out of the area and we're so so we'll be a bit too far to continue daycare. I also love that they do pictures for the holidays and post updates on their facebook page. read more

We were really disappointed with this place - we signed up our dog for walks, he didn't get them. He came home after a 3 day weekend and clearly had not been exercised or walked at all because he had diarrhea all over the house. He usually has pretty small little turds, it's clear he did not go all 3 days by the immense piles all over our living room this morning. We were informed upon pick up that he neither had any group play or walks. Despite the fact that we requested that. His bill confirmed this, so if there is one bright side it's that we weren't charged for those things. (Though should probably be part of any good boarding?) We have been bringing our 1 year old Aussiedoodle here for a couple of weeks now. We knew when we first got him that we were going to want to socialize him at a day care. This is located right across the street from where my partner and I work but there was a schedule conflict for when we start work vs when they open. We attempted to try out another daycare in the area because of our work schedule and were completely bummed about that experience. I decided to get back in touch with NMPL and see if something could be worked out. We are so blessed and happy that Chris and Colleen have been so kind in working with our schedule so we can bring our pup here to play and so far he has been loving it. He can barely wait to get out the car when he realizes where we are at and when we pick him up we can tell hes had a blast. Both of his mommies also love that we get to bring home a much calmer, tired pup. We know he is in good hands and especially love that hes just across the way from us. DON'T USE THESE PEOPLE I tried to find a cat sitter that I could afford but because my cat needed several visits a day, I decided to board. The usual places I would use were not available. So, I boarded my cat at this place while I went for surgery. Not knowing how long I would be hospitalized, I included a full 12-can box of cat food plus an open box with 10 cans just in case. I dropped off my cat and the food, a carrier and a bed at 4 pm on Wednesday night and was charged for a whole day for that. I asked for a window but when I saw the cage the window was filthy and I doubt the cat could see out of it. It was too late to find other accommodations at that point. I was released on Friday evening but too late and in no condition to pick up my cat - which resulted in my being charged for Saturday and Sunday because they aren't open on Saturday and my cat was picked up on Sunday. When my cat was picked up, they said that she ate all the food. Impossible since she only eats 2 cans a day. I phoned 4 times to get them to return the food. Each time I was told they didn't have it but would look for it. They never returned my call to say they found it and it was never returned. My pick-up person also had to ask for the bed to be returned as NMPL didn't bring it when they brought the cat out. Also, my cat was starved when she got home (5 pm) and immediately ate a whole can of food and shortly after ate another one. This is a cat that nibbles at her food! All-in-all, they charged me $200 and lost $20 worth of cat food. Maybe they are good with dogs but clearly weren't good with my cat! What place isn't open on Saturday for pick-up! (Is it just a way to get more money out of customers 'cause it means you pay for 2 extra days if you can't pick up by 6pm on Friday?) So, for me this place is a scam and I will never use them again. I'm sorry I used it in the first place and if I had another option I wouldn't have. Next time I hire a cat sitter. read more

We have been taking our big dogs to North Main for 15 years. This is a real kennel with professional handlers. I had never seen one before I came to North Main. It's not just a big room in an empty building like some others. North Main interacts with their dog clients continuously. North Main is a family biz that's operated for 40 years. The owners train and show their own dogs. When our dog boards there we know his individual large dog kennel has an indoor and out door space so he doesn't have to poop where he sleeps. The indoor spaces are air conditioned in summer and the floors are heated in the winter. If you have never seen a real dog kennel it's worth a look. Competitive prices too. When I look at the North Main pictures and videos, my dog has a big smile and is playing, wrestling and running with other dogs of his size. And there is always a human there interacting and enjoying them. I hear them laughing and talking to the dogs. At other commercial or franchise joints on the webcam the dogs are all just standing around in in a room very crowded with dogs. A bored young person is usually wandering around listlessly. It's not healthy or fun for my dog. The dogs poop in the same room they are standing in. Yuck. read more

I use the pet lodge for daycare and boarding when I go out of town. Chris and Colleen are always kind and attentive to my dog and I love that they share stories about her day, Its always fun seeing the photos they share too. I know my dog loves hanging out with them, when we pull in the parking lot she jumps up, her tail starts wagging and she can't bolt in their door fast enough. I appreciate the love and care they provide for my sweet girl while I am at work or on a get-a-way. This is Penny's, my german shepherd, home away from home, or I should really say "spa" away from home as she's so pampered and loved while she's there. She loves the frozen yogurt stuffed kongs and lots of individual attention! Absolutely pleased with the North Main Pet Lodge! I recently went on an international trip and chose this pet lodge to board Luci, my 6 month old puppy, here for three weeks while I was gone. During my trip I was in and out of wi-fi. I had my boyfriend check in on Luci a few times and I couldn't have asked for anything better than what I received! I got pictures and videos of Luci playing and walking and relaxing, both from my boyfriend as well as from the North Main Pet Lodge. She looked so happy to be there and make new friends! The pet lodge even kept in touch with my boyfriend via email letting him know her food was running low so they stopped at a pet store and got her some food. They also left just enough food for me to have for her the night I got back from my trip. In addition, they offered to have a seasonal photo shoot for the dogs, and had a little thanksgiving set up. I was surprised they got Luci to sit still for the cute photos! When I picked her up she almost seemed like she didn't want to leave! Luci also was a changed puppy, more calm and confident than she was when I dropped her off tree weeks prior. She absolutely LOVED Ben and I could see that they really enjoyed having her there. They gave Luci a bath and trimmed her nails and even washed her bed so she was all ready for me to pick her up! They did an absolutely fantastic job with Luci and having her in their pet lodge, I couldn't be more pleased. My total cost ended up being a little pricy because of how long she was there for, amount of walks I had them take her on, and they had a holiday fee (I got back thanksgiving night but they weren't open until the following Sunday) but I can tell you it was worth every cent. Definitely recommend. You can tell they love what they do here - so thankful! read more

I procrastinated on writing this review. I kept it to myself because I didn't want too many others to know about this place, in case I wouldn't be able to get a spot for my dog when I needed to. But, I really can't keep it a secret any longer, I just gotta Yelp it! I do see that there are negative reviews about this place--I can only speak from my own experience, but everything I've experienced with North Main Pet Lodge has been A+ positive. We've brought Spike here several times for boarding, for a night or two, as well as a week or more, and have always felt perfectly comfortable leaving him (well, as comfortable as you can be being separated from your favorite furry friend). My folks started taking our dog here (they had him before we did) after having taken him to a local animal hospital that offered boarding service. After a couple of times, they decided to ask around for a better place, and were given glowing references to North Main Pet Lodge. Want to know the kind of attention they give here? We were on a family vacation abroad, and had to leave Spike for nearly three weeks (so sad, I know!). While we were gone, Spike developed an ear infection (re-occurring for him) that the staff noticed, because he kept pawing at his ears. Other places may not notice if your dog was pawing at his ears. One of the owners, Colleen, emailed us and let us know that she had tried to clean Spike's ear personally, but based on what she saw and her experience, that he needed to see a vet to have it treated properly. They took him to his regular vet for us and gave him the meds and treatment he needed while we were away, and emailed us updates while we were gone. This really put us at ease, to know that he was in good care. This is a family-owned business, and they take care to treat the animals as they would their own, from what I have seen. Hugs, kisses and everything (to the dogs, not the customers!). The owners and staff know all the dogs really well here. People bring their dogs back a lot. When we've walked through to take Spike to his pen, the staff can tell us about the personalities of each of the dogs, and often stop to pet them. Some people may not like that there are only certain hours when you can pick up your pet on weekends, but seems like most customers are gone on the weekends anyway, so I'm guessing it didn't make sense to be open on days when most people are on vacation. This probably keeps prices down. Yeah, it's a drag when we get home early and can't pick up Spike yet, but at least we know he is totally taken care of. We just plan around it. This place may look a bit austere (concrete, wire barriers), but to be honest, my dog doesn't need fancy play structures, painted walls, etc. He just wants his own bed and lots of affection. If I rated it just on looks, I suppose I'd give the place only 3 or 4 stars, but honestly, Spike isn't looking for that stuff, so this review is based on the service (whether or not my dog is happy). The dogs stay in separate pens with raised platforms for beds--while this may not be the current style of having dog-on-dog playtime sessions, it is totally fine with my dog. He is the only dog in the house, and isn't used to running around with a bunch of other dogs anyway. We bring his bed and blanket, and he is perfectly fine. The staff do bring the dogs out to play, but usually just a couple at a time, so they can give them direct attention, which I appreciate. You can ask them to walk your dog, or have extra playtime or whatever. They are really good about giving medications too. Other pluses: -Someone is on site 24/7 (some other places don't have this, believe it or not) -Prices here are very reasonable. -Cute fire hydrant 'for guests only' -The staff keep the place very clean! -Spike has his own doggie door, so he can go sit out in the sun whenever he wants to. -Onsite grooming service too. Overall: We go out of our way to take Spike here; and recommend it without reservation. The staff persons here really love the dogs, and Spike loves coming here--he runs right in, like he just can't wait! read more

Overall, this place is relatively average. However, when getting my tour I noticed that the dogs had a small cement-floored room and a little doorway outside to a cement slab where they do their thing. When I asked if there's anywhere for my dog to run around the girl seemed to stumble over her words and mentioned this area next to the building-- It's a 3ft wide sideyard again all cement. It's next to some sort of factory, and behind a freeway.. Also when you're boarding over a holiday they make you keep your dog there for a certain amount of days after-- thus taking more money out of my pocket and leaving me petless when I want her most. I guess I would board my pet here if it were my last choice but it really seems once she's in there she'd be really depressed-- I know I sure would. Friendly staff though. read more

Yesterday I had an emergency and had to book my cat, Torte, last minute and they were amazing. Ben led Torte and I to the second story of the kennels where the cats are. The lower has the dogs, but you can't hear the dogs or the traffic in the cat kennels. It's completely soundproof. Each cat has a large enclosure, no crates to be seen, there is some low music playing, it's warm, does not smell, each cat has a window, and several shelves to climb on in their enclosure. They set up a new litterbox, a covered bed that I put Torte's snuggle blanket in, and If you forget bowls or food they have extra. At check out Katie gave me an update on how she did, how much she ate, drank, and box use. They were very professional, polite, reassuring since it was my first time boarding a pet, and Torte is happy and safe. Would use them again in a flat second. read more

I'm really surprised North Main Pet Lodge's average rating is so low! I have never boarded my dog anywhere ever, but recently moved to the area and had to attend a company offsite last minute so I needed a place quickly. They have what looks like hundreds of kennels that stretch from Main Street to the highway. They're concrete floors with an inside and a door to the outside. They provide bed risers and you bring everything for your pet: bed, blankets, toys, food. Like other kennels, they warn you that they only take your dog on walks for 15 minutes and try to up sell you on extra walks and play time. I only left Cooper for 3 days and I was pleased with the experience. When I picked him up, the woman at the desk warned me not to be concerned if Cooper was tired, because they're much more active at the kennel than at home. So, while they might not officially get a lot of walk to play time, I think the dogs just have a lot more going on being around all the other dogs. The only thing that really bothered me is there's no grass anywhere. Admittedly, it wouldn't have bothered me if I hadn't read the other reviews, but now I can't help it. TLDR: Tried North Main Pet Lodge, would use them again! read more

I had to look for a new boarding facility for our two dogs(1-1/2 year old female Weim and 2-1/2 year old male German Short Haired Pointer) and after some yelp searching dropped by at North Main Pet Lodge. Right from entering I felt welcomed and could feel the care that Chris and his family have for the pets they care for. We have a new to our family rescue that has some personality quirks (doesn't like hardwood, linoleum flooring) and Chris was quick to assure me they could work with me with him for a stay. The boarding facility is clean and comfortable for the dogs, you can bring your dog's own food, bedding, toys etc. I felt comfortable enough with all I had heard I booked then and there a spot for my two furry babies for a weekend stay. Here we are after their first stay, We were welcomed at drop off and our dogs were quickly accommodated. Both dogs walked through to the back to get them into their kennels for their stay. Rubber mats added to the kennel for our dog that doesn't like certain flooring. They had scheduled play together and I got to see pics of their fun on the facebook page! My dogs were happy at pick up and I am happy to say we will be back. I really appreciate the accommodations that they have made for our quirky dog and I can feel assured they are well cared for here. read more

My Family and I have been taking our Yorkie/Silky Terrier mix to the Pet Lodge for years now! Sometimes we would have to make last minute arrangements for his stay here and they were more than happy to accommodate if they have room. When you check-in your pet, you can provide food, toys, bedding, and food bowl for the staff to use during your pet's stay. They have always returned all the items that we left with them, I have never lost an item while my dog was boarding. The staff has always been very kind, loving, and attentive to our little guy. When we come to pick him up after his stay, they will bring him into the main building, let go of the leash, and allow him to happily run towards us down the hallway - this is my favorite part about picking him up. They also double check that his shots are up to date and require us to provide them with official records before he can check in - i'm sure they do this will all the pets that board there so it puts my mind at ease knowing that all the other pets that my dog might interact with are vaccinated. I have also frequently used the grooming services offered here and they do an excellent job, even in cases where my dog's coat is very matted. read more

I've used the NMPL quite a few times since moving to California. They are reliable, dependent and my dog absolutely loves going there. Not sure where some of these negative reviews stem from. One reviewer says the dogs do not get any exercise or personal attention. My dog is absolutely exhausted and content when I pick him up and sleeps for nearly an entire day.
