This Primo Foods location in West Vista is our preferred one. The parking spaces are kinda small, so use caution. The workers here are exceptionally friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. We went to pick up some barbecue on a Tuesday. There is a different line for the Taco Tuesday deal, so fortunately we did not have to wait very long. The barbecue chicken leg quarters are huge! Look at my pic with a fork for scale. $11 for 3 leg quarters. Just an incredible deal and oh so delicious! Tri tip was $23/lb. DH said, "it had great flavor, but I actually like the chicken the best". It was tender and smoky. We picked up some tomatoes, cucumbers, and avocados to make tacos and salad at our vacation home. Overall, this is a great place to pick up some barbecue at outstanding prices. We will definitely return in the future! read more

Honestly the samples were great, the service was welcoming and friendly and set it up to. r a great experience. Even though there was a large line for 69 cent tacos on Tuesdays, it went by quickly and they promptly made the order. The food itself were small street tacos and kinda lacked flavor and the dough wasn't my favorite, I enjoyed the speed and amount of food for the cost but was a little less quality and the watermelon I bought there tasted like it had gone bad which was a shame because it was pricey for the amount you receive. Overall it was okay and I would consider returning to try something new like the tri tip which tasted really good in store even if the tacos weren't particularly my favorite. read more

I tried the taco Tuesday for .69 cents. That's right $.69 cents. It was very busy and waited about 20 to 30 minutes for the 20 tacos. The carne asada tacos were good. They put cilantro and lime to add more flavor. I give them 3 stars . Give them a try. read more

Drove 20 miles not worth the drive at all. It's like any other Mexican restaurant in San Diego. You can fall out of your bed and find the Mexican place right around the corner with much better food then to drive all the way for dried out fish tacos for $.69 which so small& not worth it the cartnites the same. Spent $17 on their barbecue brisket and sirloin tri- top dry not a good flavor bark and just dried out places way overated . read more

Every Tuesday & Friday .69¢ tacos with lots of protein options (I really like the cabeza) If you see negative reviews it's because the line of people or their previous misconceptions of taco size. These tacos give me life! 4 tacos and a giant crispy can of coke for 7 bucks? My absolute favorite under 10 dollar meal in all of SD county. My fav are the carnitas tacos but also like the pollo asada and adobada. The fajita plate is great too, just wish it came with flour tortillas instead of corn. You can't beat $0.69 tacos! I've been eating here for years, still one of my favorite spots. All of their food is good, the fruit, veggies and other cuts of meat are amazing as well. Taco tuesdays are always a hit. We usually buy the marinated chicken and the marinated short ribs from the meat counter. I don't know what they use in their short rib marinade but those ribs are always a hit. We've also had the chilaquiles which is nice and spicy and one order is enough for two people. read more

Came here for Taco Tuesday/Friday and specifically the $0.69 tacos and was not disappointed. Got here around 4:30pm on a Friday and there was a line. Although it took a bit to get up to the front, when I received my taco order and took that to the front cashier to pay, the line had already tripled in size! Wow...get here EARLY if you can. In all, I ordered about 27 tacos: asada, chicharron, adobada, pastor and carnitas. Each taco plate came with a few packets of salsa (very tasty too BTW) and when I got to the cashier to pay, it was $20.17!! I don't remember the last time dinner for a five people was this cheap. Seriously! I did not get a chance to tour the rest of the store. Carrying 27 tacos is quite a task, but I definitely want to come back on a non Tues/Friday day when the tacos are still only $0.99. I'll keep this one brief and give you the numbers: 69¢ apiece street tacos every Tuesday and Friday. 9 types of filling choices. A 20+ minute Disneyland-sized line across the whole drink aisle (and it's totally worth it). And don't be shy, I've seen people order up to 40+ tacos for their whole family in one go. Now this looks like your run-of-the-mill Mexican market: Loose wiring, sticky floors, magically staffed with 20+ people at a time. But don't be fooled, this isn't your El Super Vallarta Northgate blahblahblah. If you're even remotely in the area on a Tuesday/Friday, even if you just had lunch, even if you just came from the gym. Do yourself a favor and make a quick pit stop here for some tacos. You won't regret it. A few caveats: (1) I've yet to try their BBQ but their parking lot looks like the smoking section of a noir novel. Every day is Taco Tuesday around here. You can't beat their prices. Freshly made meat and tacos put together right in front of your face. All of the ingredients are fresh and so tasty. Street tacos are probably the most popular item. The line is usually long and you have to wait a while. But the wait it is worth it. Free samples of ceviche and Mexican juice while we wait. I tried the tamarindo sample and the ceviche. Both were fantastic. It's usually really crowded and the parking lot can be like an obstacle course. Otherwise, I would give this store five. FANTASTIC & delicious pork ribs with barbeque sauce! Bought two half slabs of ribs which they cut and the pork was perfect. Worth the wait! Primos is busy & packed with people on weekends but everyone's nice & keeps the line moving. You pay upfront to the checker first, then wait in line. I waited in my car for 20 minutes for the ribs. There were already 7 people ahead of me but that went by quickly. I've eaten their yummy tacos too. Noticed that they have fresh, big tamales wrapped in front but there were only four packages of two left. Be aware that they have a very small parking lot for a weekend crowd. read more

Food is delicious! Wide variety of meats to choose for the street tacos. I tried the pork ribs and they are good. They also serve beef ribs and brisket. I'm sure it's all good! This is a local hot spot for tacos I was told it's a San Diego staple so we tried it for the first time. In town from LA for the weekend in Carlsbad. So this is a super market with traditional Spanish food items. At the end of the store...that's where they have the food you can order there or pick up. It's so good and fresh! Usually there is a line on Fridays but it moves fast because they have .69 cents tacos! All the yummy flavors too! They also have ribs and other tasty items, cooked and ready to go! While you are there you can pick up fresh guacamole and salsa...even tried their shrimp ceviche which was delicious! Also had calamari in it. Tortilla chips and so much more! Just finished up some quick tacos from this place. Overall, the place is very clean. The butcher shop area is a little overpriced by about 2-3 dollars a pound on Carne Asada for grilling. The tacos tortilla were really small. It gives you the illusion that you're getting a lot of meat but it's all an illusion. Not sure I'm up for any STARS.....It's been awhile since I've been to Primos, WOW have things changed....I noticed some time ago that there tortillas, for Tueday Taco night had shrunk by a chunk, but that was for Tuesday, seems now they've decided to make every night a Shrunkin night. The street tacos now use maybe a 3" tortilla, and what we use to get is now $4.99, and a very small cup of there Beans and meat Chile is the same price.....so for me, Primo, YOUR DEAD TO ME....I understand things have gone up, but that's not a reason to gouge!!!!!!!! read more

Stopped in for some tacos and a burrito because of all the glowing reviews, but what I got was nothing to even compliment. The .99 cent tacos were served cold and were the size of a silver dollar, even with inflation these are a bite each and aren't worth the money. The burrito I got at first seemed interesting-- they marinate their pollo asado in turmeric so it has a yellow hue. However I discovered this burrito had no pico, only a dash of cilantro; no guacamole, and for $10.99 it's insulting that they snuck an entire can of Rosarita refried beans in the lower half-- yes that's right half the burrito was entirely filled with puréed refried beans. What in the name of autentica comida mexicana is this? All nicely foiled up with some baggie salsas (not the good kind they sell in the refrigerated aisle) that are the same kind you get from Albertacos drive-thru. In all honesty, I'm just waiting on the food poisoning to kick in. read more
