I would definitely consider stopping by this little market. It's much bigger than you think inside they have a large produce section. Great meat section. Lots of different steaks for barbecuing the cakes look delicious. The bread that they have when you first walk in looks really good. I've never seen anything like it. Fresh tortillas. The catering from San Marcos Market on Autumn is absolutely incredible. Their pollo asado, carne asada, ground beef, and refried beans are all packed with flavor and always a huge hit. Everything tastes fresh, authentic, and truly delicious. The portions are generous, the prices are great, and the food is consistently amazing. A Concerning Experience with Quality and Customer Service I am writing this review after a deeply disappointing experience at the San Marcos market autumn location a store where my family and I have been loyal customers for years. Unfortunately, this recent visit has made us reconsider our patronage. My mother recently purchased $234.02 dollars worth of groceries, including $163.10 dollars of meat (arachera) for a family gathering. To our horror, during the meal, we discovered what appeared to be small white fly eggs worms in the meat. Disturbed by this, we immediately contacted the store. When we called, the initial response from the cashier was dismissive and unhelpful. She insisted we must have contacted the wrong store, because they don't cook meat at their location despite our clear explanation and the fact that San Marcos market offers grilling services something explicitly stated on a sign outside their store. After much persistence, we were finally allowed to speak to the owner, named yasar who asked us to bring in photos, videos, and the remaining meat as evidence. However, our attempts to follow up were met with further frustration. The next day, when we called to confirm the owner's presence at the store, the cashier rudely informed us that he wasn't there. This has since become a recurring issue. Each time we call, the cashier seems nervous and evasive, almost as if she is deliberately avoiding our request to speak with the owner. On our most recent visit today the cashier shockingly suggested that the owner might never return an absurd excuse given that he is the owner. After days of trying to resolve this issue, the worms got bigger and transformed to maggots we are left with no choice but to discard the leftover meat. This experience has not only cost us money, time but has also left us deeply disappointed in a store we once trusted. We understand that mistakes can happen, but the lack of accountability, poor customer service, and the serious health concerns related to the quality of the meat are unacceptable. Sadly, we will no longer be shopping at San Marcos Market #1, #2,#3 or any other locations and will be sharing this experience with others. We hope that the management takes this seriously and addresses both the quality control issues and the concerning behavior of the staff. Customer loyalty should be valued, not dismissed. read more

I needed to get meats for a BBQ I was having and didn't know where to go until I stumbled across this market. They had a huge selection of different meats to choose from and even had a menu to order fresh food! While I was waiting I decided to try their California burrito and it was amazing! It's also good to note that they have a big variety of fresh vegetables to choose from. The customer service was really good as well, when I entered they said hello and when I left they said goodbye and in between my shopping they happily helped me locate things and suggest what would be great for my get together! We drove over to try their Tacos and felt they were just ok. The Women that worked there seemed so grumpy and unhappy. I mentioned that we were on a quest for the best Tacos in town, and they just didn't answer, or were in another world. Everyone there just seemed so unhappy. Best market in north county to get some good quality, premarinated meats. Personally their carne and chicken are the best! Benjamin the butcher there is the best!! Any time he is working behind the counter ask him for your prepared meats. They ask have fresh baked pastries and desserts. So yummy!!! Their muffins are my favorite! One stop market that you can get everything you need for a nice BBQ or cookout with the family or some friends. They have fresh produce, lighter fluid, charcoal, main home items and main grocery store items. All very well and reasonably priced. Love this little hole in the wall market! Would go anywhere else for my meats ever again!! They also have some fresh appetizers by the butcher counter every once in a while that you have got to try if they are ever on display! read more

I come to this market because it's good walking distance from my home but each time I go the workers seemed grumpy. The cashier who checked me out that day did not say a single word to me until I asked for a bag and she immediately blamed me saying she had asked if I wanted a bag before I had finished checking out when she didn't even say a word to me . I was told I could have asked before I was checked out as well instead of the cashier correcting herself. The lady at the front found it really hard to do her job right. read more

I stumbled across this gem about 1 year ago. It is truly a mini grocery store with all the awesome Mexican food treats, meats and produce! My son enjoys the sweet breads and I enjoy the heck out of their marinated meats for the grill, and their hot food (to go) is very DELISH as well! I decided to use them to cater a dinner event feeding 50 people. The price was very reasonable, the food was amazing and they were even able to help with some of the serving dishes. The meat was cooked just perfect, the fixins were on point, the side dishes couldn't be better and this gringo was all smiles.....it was a HIT!! WOW!!!! 5 star review of San Marcos Market. I can't believe I have lived in North County for the past 10 years, and never even knew about this market. Driving by the store, you would never expect for the contents of the store in what it has inside. The selection is fantastic. All the groceries are fresh and the store is so clean and organized, you are bound to find more than what you are looking for. THEN... they have food that is made there and sold!!! The meats are amazing! Today we had a spicy red chicken on top of tortillas (I wish I could remember the name of it) and it was so delicious and flavorful! The carne asada is seasoned so well and cooked perfectly. The rice and beans are so authentic and they have every kind of salsa you could want and their guacamole is perfect. San Marcos Market catered a BBQ we had today with over 60 people. Wally, the owner was so helpful with ordering and his staff is so professional and friendly. This was such a good experience, as I have had lot of different caterers in the area for parties I have had,and never had an experience like the one I had with Wally and his staff. I HIGHLY recommend you having them cater your next Mexican fiesta..you wont be sorry!If not a party, I recommend you going in for lunch time or picking up some of their delicious meat and throwing it on your own BBQ. I refuse to ever give this place my business again. Every single time I go, the girls who work there are stuck up and RUDE. They can at least bother to offer me a bag which I would gladly pay for instead of handing me my change and moving on to the next customer while just leaving my items there for me to reach over the counter and grab myself. No smiles, NOTHING. Everything is over priced because they know a lot of the people in the area only have their store as an option of getting daily necessities. I will take my business to the other Mexican markets in the area where I actually feel welcomed and that appreciate my business. Unless live in the apartments above it or have a friend that does. In my case, I gotsa friend and me. Sooo, here we are, a market place miniature grocery store, not like miniature golf, the food isn't for miniature people nor is it miniature in itself, but it's a mini grocery store! In the back you'll find your meats, nomz, and wait for it...... It's also a Mexican taco/burrito/chips/(insert good Mexican food here) shop! They have a mini menu that'll satisfy your hunger, not like a snickers barz, but even better! Ah (gasp) but forreal it's authentic, some good carne Assad burritos are offered here and it will not fail you. Gotta get at doze free chips while ya wait, they also got em home made dips. So yes!
