I had just gone to church and decided to stop for lunch at the Northern Side Grille restaurant located on 102 in Hudson, NH. I had not been at this restaurant for two years and could not wait to try the strawberry/spinach salad with salmon along with the raspberry dressing. My server was a very cute young lady who was very polite and did her job well. The salad was delicious and salmon was warm. I like the outdoor dining and sat at a large table with plenty of space between myself and the customers that were around me. I recommend this restaurant very highly and would go back again. Arrived at this restaurant with a Softball team and parents. They handled the group with ease and professionalism. The menu offered something for everyone. The service was outstanding. Went here today for a quick lunch. Had a coupon and we felt we'd try it out. Lil lobster rolls were ok. My husband had the liver and onions were terrible! The one piece of liver was the smallest thinnest piece of liver I ever saw on a plate! No bigger than I slice of bologna for a sandwich, also had a lot of fatty sections. All I can say is wow. My wife and I just finished lunch, she had the Cuban sandwich and I had a mushroom Swiss burger. Probably the best burger I've ever had. Almost no one can cook a burger (or any meat) medium well and still have it be juicy but whoever's on the grill here can! Fantastic food here and great service. They understand taste balance. When you order a dish you should be able to taste all the ingredients included in the preparation. I have been here a few times and they are always consistent. A definite destination. Highly recommended. I just recently visited again. Had the special which was a pesto shrimp bowl with. Zoodles. I. Tried NSG again after a year, only because a friend wanted to stop in. I was disappointed again. I ordered a draft beer (603 Bean). This beer is in every restaurant around town, and I'm usually asked if I want a 16 or 22 oz glass. It was given to me in a 12 oz glass and with a full head on, so I really only received a 11 oz beer. I asked the bar lady about it and she told me it was a 13.5 glass. I told her no way because my friend had a bottle beer and when poured in his glass it came to the top. The beer was a 12oz bottle, written right on it. I told the bar lady to let the owners know about this is she said nothing would happen. So be aware as to what you are getting because the prices are already high there, and it's not worth it. read more

We finally tried the North Side Grille after our friends had told us about it a couple of times, they had been for breakfast and dinner. Today we checked it out for an early dinner. Since it was early in the evening we did not have to wait for a table and they brought us right to a booth. Our server came over and introduced herself, took our drink order and shared the specials for that evening with us. When she came back with our drinks we ordered an appetizer, the Buffalo Chicken dip with Chips. She checked back on us and then we ordered our meals while waiting for the app to come out. I asked a few questions and for a recommendation, she was very helpful. Our app came out hot and it was very good, she did check in on us to make sure we were enjoying everything. Not too much longer after we finished our app our meals came out. I got the Montreal Chicken and my husband got the chicken fingers plate. Our food came out as described on the menu and as we ordered it. My overall impression was the service was good and the food was good, definitely would go back to try more items on the menu and hopefully dessert too! read more

This restaurant has a nice clean look and a country feel. It is very family friendly. Our server was not the friendliest. Their menu has a nice variety. It's a plus that you can order a breakfast cocktail and that the mimosa wasn't overloaded with orange juice. The food is good, but nothing remarkable. Been here 3 times. I have made excuses to go back, but no longer. Quality of the food is just Ok. (Full bellied clams with really no bellies and clamshells that go crunch. Never in 30 years and 2 times in one order) Chips with a lobster roll?! Seriously. Frozen lobster that was just gross. I could tell because...well, it was just gross. Plenty of potato chips though? If it was cheap maybe I would be OK with the low quality, but they ask all the money and cut every corner they can to increase profits. Saw your tweet about asking for a review, so here it is. After being longtime regular customers we had a very bad experience that was made worse by the owner. Waitress incorrectly told us the price of beer, several rounds were ordered and the price was approx double what we were told. Purchasing decisions were based on the price we were told by the waitress. When the bill came and the price was nearly double, we questioned it and was told 'oh yeah we made a mistake'...A paltry gift certificate was offered for 'next time' (trying to ensure we'd come back and spend more money). The correct way to handle that would be to apologize for being incorrect on the beer prices and take it off the bill at that time. We will never ever be back. read more

Had dinner here tonight for the first time based off another yelp review. It's seriously one of the BEST non "chain" restaurants around I've been to. Everything we had was delicious! Excellent poutine app, steak tips were cooked perfect, awesome carrot cake for dessert and a great craft beer selection. I'll preface by saying I'm a food snob and my benchmark is Boston food as I work there. The food was good, but nothing special. For appetizers we tried the poutine and the burnt ends. The poutine was decent, fries were nice and crispy. The burnt ends were not good; tasted reheated in the microwave and dried out. There was only a drizzle of bbq sauce on them; I should have known to not order these from a non-bbq joint. For dinner I had buffalo mac n cheese. There was a generous portion of crispy chicken but a small amount of noodles in comparison. It was good but I've had far better, and probably would not order this again here. The side of garlic bread I added was awesome, best part of the entire meal. My husband had the lobster mac n cheese which I tried, it was very disappointing. While there was a good amount of lobster, it didn't seem fresh. I'll add that the appetizers came out about 3 minutes after ordering and the food came out while still eating the appetizers, no more than 10 minutes after ordering; while it was nice that the food came fast, it only added to my suspicion that the food was microwaved/not cooked to order. Our waitress was great, very friendly! Based on response from management, we came for dinner on a Friday night, around 7:30 pm, it was not busy and there were many tables open. Food was not made to order as it came out within 3 minutes of ordering it, that's impossible. Regardless my above review still stands. read more

My husband and I were @ Wilsons farm for some fresh veggies. We wanted to stop in for a quick lunch; based on the previous reviews, we stopped at Northside Grille. We sat in the bar area which we thought was the main dining room; apparently we entered the wrong door. We were greeted promptly by a petite blond woman with water,and a friendly manor (I really wish I could remembered her name). I asked if this was the restaurant; she showed us around to the other side which is the main part of the restaurant and offered us which ever we preferred; no pressure. We decided the bar area, so friendly service why not have lunch at the tables in the bar area. Our lunches were both home cooked style lunches that were absolutely fantastic; just what we were craving . We have returned twice since and sat in the bar area. One time great Tuesday two times good, Monday. Just thought with a relatively new business you should give credit where credit it is do. Just had the worst piece of prime rib ever!!! Asked for rare and got well done. When I asked the waitress to bring it back and get me rare she said that's all we have. It was tasteless and so tough couldn't chew. I left half. Kitchen manager came over and made excuses and then said well you got the first slice you should have sent it back. The rest is rare Manager came over with my credit card and bill and said I would have comped your meal but we already put it on your credit card and I know you wouldn't want me to void a transaction on your card. Here's a gift card for next time. I said no thanks and left. More angry at excuses and way they handled it than at bad meal. read more

The reason for us walking out was our waitress was taking our drink order, when some of her friends came in and they asked to sit in her area, which they did put the family in a booth inher section , but now I have my drink and my wife is waiting for her glass of wine We looked around and are waitress is serving her friends drinks and just staying there shooting the shit while we're waiting for a glass of wine and to place are order, well after seeing that no time to leave. So we walked out as we were leaving another waitress came out and we she wanted us to come back in and she would wait on us ,we said no thanks I told her the other girl should be fired for what she did. As far as any stars nine for this place their menu didn't look good anyway either all I wanted was a plain burger they didn't even have that on the menu . This placed sucked never again. Arrived Saturday night and found seats in the bar, if you get a wait time in front walk around the corner! The bar staff was friendly and searched out an answer to any questions we had. The food was fresh and delicious. We started with the Cauliflower Pizza and it was great. BF had the salmon and I had the steak tacos that featured the bartender asking "how would you like your steak cooked?" Unexpected. For several years now my Sunday afternoon routine has been going out to brunch after attending church in Lowell and this restaurant did not disappoint. Upon entering, we were welcomed with a cheerful greeting by one of the five or so servers who are absolutely adorable. We were immediately seated. No waiting is always a plus in my book. This place is somewhat small but that only adds to the warmth and charm as you feel as if you're at the local neighborhood eatery where everyone knows your name. I think that's a song? They have a descent menu selection of American comfort food with apps, burgers, sandwiches, seafood and mouth-watering entrees like chicken farm and mac & cheese. But it being Sunday we were on a mission for eggs. Who doesn't love eggs? Service was super quick. We had just a few sips of coffee when our orders were on the table like Bam! I ordered the el diablo omelet with a side of baked beans and toast. My buddy went with the traditional Greek omelet. Both were so delicious that within a half hour or so we both lapsed into a food coma. Can a brother get an Amen! Needless to say, I highly recommend the North Side Grill. You won't be disappointed. My first time here with my family, I can tell you that our experience here was extremely outstanding. The hostess ( Haley ) greeted us as as soon as we entered, with the most courteous and biggest smile. Within minutes we were seated and our waitress (Shelagh) was taking our orders. The manager (Joe) was so involved with helping his staff members and making sure each and everyone dining in was satisfied with their meals. Very inconsistent with taste, portion size and one time served chicken Marsala in a soup bowl. Who does that? Other times in a plate but that one time in a soup bowl. The portions used to be decent. I went here for breakfast the other day and I enjoyed it. The service was great and the crowd seemed friendly. I ordered the breakfast that is often called "farmers" breakfast or insert blue collar word here....breakfast ha. It came with 2 sausage links (bigger than typical), 2 slices of bacon, 3 eggs, home fries, baked beans, 4 slices of wheat toast, and biscuits with sausage gravy all for $11. Everything I had was good, zero complaints, plus service. I think they are a very solid 3.5. Out of the way for me, but I continue to go there because of the staff. My faves from knowing them over the years are Cathy and Olivia, although every staff member I've encountered has greeted me in a friendly manner. I've only ever patronized the business for breakfasts and enjoy the friendly banter that both Cathy and Olivia bring to the moment. Everything has always arrived hot and in a timely manner. I've never been disappointed with my food. It has sort of an old school diner feel until you go into the Bar. Drinks are priced averagely against the competition. Their weekday bartender, Linda, will always crack a joke and leave you laughing. It's not the easiest to locate if you've not been through the area before. It's located up on the hill on 102 and if memory serves me well, behind a business. Speaking of business, they certainly do their fair share so I would encourage a visit for at least breakfast. read more

Excellent fresh food! The burgers & slaw are delicious! We went a few weeks ago which was our first time and one of my burgers was underdone to my liking. Joe the manager came over as he observed that I was not finishing my meal and asked if there was a problem, I explained that one of my burgers was not well done enough. He offered right away to make me a new one, when I sad no, it was okay. He removed it from the bill. We said we'd try it there again, because the food we did eat was so fresh and delicious. The wait was long, we went at 1030 Sunday morning. We waited 35 minutes then another 15 to order then another 30 for the food. It seemed by noon things had quieted down but that's a long time. All that being said, the food was above average. Poutine was light and delicious, most of us all had omelettes that were cooked very well. The El Diablo Mexican omelette was quite spicy with a lot of pickled jalapeños while the hash omelette was very filling. The one person who ordered the mushroom Swiss burger was pleased as well. One outlier was the coffee, WAY too hot. Needed to add ice to cool it down to barely drinkable hot. But friendly wait staff and good food will likely bring us back. read more

Amazing food at amazing prices. My favorites were the Cinnamon Roll pancakes and Oreo Waffles. Very creative and delicious. A regular waffle is less than $4 as well, half of what you'll pay at bigger name places like IHOP. I also preferred the taste of most foods here over bigger names anyway. We absolutely love this place and go at least twice a month for breakfast. Been meaning to try the lunch/dinner menu items but just love our breakfast too much! The staff is always friendly and they do what they can to seat folks quickly even when they are jammed packed. LOVE the MAN-MOSAS, if you don't know what that is, do yourselves a favor and get over there to order one or two. The only complaint I have is that we do not really care for the baked beans, maybe they could try a different recipe. There is only one place we really like them and that is the DW Diner in Merrimack (hint if you can get their recipe) We make the 20 minute drive b/c this place is just that good!!! read more
