I've been a resident at Lost Bayou since April 2021, and have had issues with my apartment from the very beginning. They started small in comparison; not cleaned before move in, broken dishwasher, trouble opening front door. Then grew; lease renewed without notice, hot water stopped working, bathroom door stopped closing, etc. But this last issue was the LAST straw! I've been forced out of my apartment since November 20th, 2022, due to a leak in the bathroom. I called the number they have attached to Google, and was redirected at least 4 times before finally reaching their emergency operator. She told me she would contact maintenance and give me an update, which I never received. When I went back to check the apartment the following day (Nov 21st) nothing had been fixed. I went straight to Lost Bayou's leasing office and spoke with Ms. Jeannie ( who was there from Frenchman's Creek Apartments ) and informed her of what was going on. I also expressed my concerns about not feeling safe to stay in the apartment, but was told it was still inhabitable since the ceiling hadn't fallen yet. Despite the vent leaking over the toilet, soaking wet floor, stench, not knowing if/when the ceiling would fall, and water spots also appearing in the bedroom. I reiterated that I did not feel safe or comfortable staying in the apartment, and would continue staying with a family member until repairs were complete. Ms. Jeannie told me that she would have roofers assess & repair the roof, followed by sheetrock repair, and give me an update. I received a voicemail from Ms. Vicky on November 23rd, right before closing, claiming that the roof had been repaired and the sheetrock was scheduled to be repaired the following Monday (Nov. 28th). The office was closed by the time I received the voicemail and on Thanksgiving. I called back on Nov. 25th for an update and to see if the sheetrock could be rescheduled to an earlier date. No answer. I called again Nov. 26th, still no answer. That night, after work, I stopped to check the apartment myself. Not only had there not been any repairs, the ceiling had now caved in/fallen and the floor was still drenched in water! I contacted the emergency operator the following morning, and was told that maintenance would be sent. When I arrived back to my apartment on the 28th for an update, once again nothing had been repaired. I went to the office to speak to someone but no one was there. A nearby employee directed me to Frenchmen's Creek, where I spoke with Ms. Jeannie. I told her how the damage had worsened since we first spoke on the 21st, and there seemed to be no urgency or compassion towards my situation. At this point I had been out of my apartment for a week, with no estimate of when I'd be able to return, and rent was due in 3days. I was never offered prorated rent, or any other accommodation(s). When I requested to be moved to another apartment, she said she would reach out to her regional manager and give me an update (never received). When I called Lost Bayou the following morning (Nov. 29th 10:02am) for an update, Ms. Vicky answered. She was not aware of anything Ms. Jeannie and I discussed, but said she would reach out to her and let me know what the regional manager had decided. She also said that roofers would be sent out again and she'd call me with an update (never received). When I arrived to the office that evening (4:35pm) for an update, the roofers had just been sent & Ms. Vicky was just then sending someone inside the apartment to pick up the debris that had been left for days. Her excuse was their lack of personnel. When asked what Ms. Jeannie said about me being moved to another apartment, she said that she hadn't spoken with her. I expressed my concerns again about having to pay rent for an uninhabitable apartment; due to not being able to use the toilet, shower, or tub. I was told that it was my choice not to stay there, and I could take the option to not pay rent & face a judge. At this point, my only option was early lease termination. Which meant I'd be paying the end of November, December, and January's rent ($2,138+) for an apartment I couldn't even live in! Of course the "accommodations" came once I turned in my early termination notice (Nov. 30th) and began packing my apartment. The ceiling was FINALLY removed on December 2nd. On December 5th, I was called to tour another apartment; which was unfinished and drenched in cigarette stench & God knows what else. I haven't heard anything from management since then and the bathroom hasn't been touched since the 2nd; I'm glad I got out of this hell hole when I did. It's unfortunate that I had to pay for management's negligence and incompetence, currently seeking representation, but hopefully by reading this you will not go through the same!

Also there were RATS here as well a few months back, this apartment is truly disgusting and outdated, they also went up on the rent at the beginning of covid for these shitty apartments, we had plans to move once our lease was up but unfortunately with the pandemic that didn't end up happening so now we're stuck here until the lease is up next year and it's miserable. ALSO our toilet wasn't flushing and we again called multiple times and the lady in the office literally told us it was a city problem so we suffered with this issue for over a month and called again to get any update on the city plumbing issue and she FINALLY sent a plumber out and he fixed the issue is less than 10 minutes so why did she never send a plumber to begin with???? this lady in the office lied to us and made us have toilet that barely flushed for over a month...there's also a rehab center on Wabash street and sketchy people are always hanging around and throwing trash and their plate lunches everywhere, maybe that's why there's so many's BUGS AND RATS!! Unfortunately, from my very first day, the experience was disappointing. I was essentially thrown into the role without proper training, and it quickly became clear that some team members were not interested in setting me up for success. My manager, Dwanda Jones, chose to gossip about other employees -- including her own RVP, Brittney -- instead of focusing on training or team development. This created a toxic and unprofessional environment from the start. Despite that, I remained passionate about my work and took initiative, often being the only one on-site ensuring operations ran smoothly. When I brought issues and updates to my manager's attention, she did nothing to address them. Later, when her RVP visited and called her out for poor performance, she shifted the blame onto me, even though I had consistently tried to communicate and ask for guidance. I requested additional help learning their new system multiple times, but instead of support, I was told not to seek assistance elsewhere -- and the promised help never came. It's refreshing to deal with managers who are attentive, professional, and genuinely care about the residents. They communicate clearly, follow through on what they say, and make sure things are done the right way. They have truly gone above and beyond for me, and I feel the difference every day. From the way they greet residents to the way they handle issues big or small, they bring a level of respect, efficiency, and kindness that is rare to find. Because of them, I feel valued and heard as a resident. Overall, I can honestly say the management team has transformed the experience of living here, and I'm extremely grateful for everything they do.

The community feel of the complex was great. I liked all my neighbors. Our dogs all became friends (this is a great apartment if you are a pet owner). I'd often BBQ with neighbors at the community grill at the pool. Or one in the courtyard. I'd stay here for years if I wasn't heading back to Los Angeles. SAFE & SECURE. AFFORDABLE. SPACIOUS. People trying to open your door in the middle of the night or trying to lure you to the door to open multiple times. 2nd month of living here I witness physical fights outside. Moldy ceiling which was not properly repaired (leaked again after a month with even more mold). The gunshot through my ceiling was the final straw. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS.
