It look 2 year until I snapped and said if she dies from her sleep apnea I was going to sure more negligence. Then and only then was he willing to send a referral for a sleep study, even though I had videos of her snoring and you could clearly hear she couldn't breathe right through her nose. But whatever, it was a step in the right direction. It took forever for me to get a referral that worked- that's a whole nother long irritating experience. But here's the kicker. It look so long for them to send it to somewhere, that by the time we could get an appointment- the referral would be expired and we were back at square one. So I took it upon myself to find someone who would take us as a self referral. Made that appointment all was well. We went to the doctors again Dr. Kahn, I think, For a physical for school. Which included a hearing test- which she didn't pass but they put it off as she couldn't focus enough to do it and brushed it off. The doctor checked her ears and everything else. Said everything was great and sent us on our way. A WEEK later, we went to the ENT- which to my surprise.. she had SO MUCH fluid in her ears and doctor mentioned she probably can't hear well which was caused by the blockage in her nose which confirmed she couldn't breathe through her nose, and confirmed the sleep apnea- without a sleep study. MAGIC. We got her set up to remove the adenoids, tonsils, and insert tubes. After the surgery he mentioned how much fluid and mucus was in her ears. Said it was probably years worth of back up. How did BOTH doctors miss that much fluid if it was that bad? Im baffled that licensed doctors missed diagnosed her like that for so long. Always trust your parental gut- don't let these people fool you there's nothing wrong. After this mess- We will be looking for a new pediatrician. Dr J. And Dr. Kahn. I responded saying that I've had this same information and have already contacted my healthcare company prior to today's visit to learn of the co-pay I would have which is typically $40 for this type of service; a bilateral mammogram. She continued to "educate me" on the "why" and "what" reasons and coverages set by my insurance, not the facility. She was still grossly incorrect in the information. She explained to me that I first have to satisfy my deductible and or maximum out-of-pocket limits Anthem set and that is the "why" the estimated out-of-pocket of $811.45 was accurate and that $800 of that amount is going to satisfy the deductible. I was already under stress, fear, and uncertainty about the dates radiological procedures because my paternal aunt just died of metastasized breast cancer which also engulfed her bones. So now I've got an employee lecturing me at length as to "why this information of $811.45 is absolutely correct as per my health insurance and the mandatory deductible due". I have a soft spot for this Emanuel Cancer Center and have been having my female health needs done here when I could go elsewhere. I have just always felt as safe as I could while here. I'm not going to stop coming here however just because of this unfortunate yet preventable business office fiasco but I would like to see this type of unnecessarily stressful situation become extinct. I think the worst of it is either the employee was disallowed to behave any other way or, incorrect training maybe? They could also reach out to leadership with Anthem BC and inform them of these unacceptable outcomes when inquiring for patient services.
