Food: Very mediocre wontons in chili oil. Wouldn't return to this place. There are definitely better places for dumplings and wontons in the area. Wontons were small and didn't have much flavor. Service: There's no service here. You order your food and bring it to a table or counter to eat when they call your number. Ambiance: The place is small with three tables that seat four people and a small counter space that seats another 4-5 people. Not meant for large groups. Northern Dumpling House was good but honestly not great. The service is fine no issues there at all but the dumplings didn't stand out to me. No they weren't too doughy but there was barely any filling in comparison to the other dumplings you can find in the area including Old Captain's Dumpling House or White Bear. I got the chive egg and shrimp dumplings which were lacking any shrimp whatsoever. I went to an employee to let him know and he told me it has very little shrimp...had several pieces but couldn't taste it in a single one. Extremely Disappointed and Shocked - Never Going Back I used to buy dumplings from this place from time to time, but after what happened today, I will never return. While eating a dumpling I bought here today, I nearly broke a tooth. There was a sharp bone fragment inside, about the size of my pinky fingernail. I don't know exactly which part it came from, but this isn't the first time something like this has happened. My child has also bitten into hard, foreign objects in these dumplings on several occasions in the past. After today's incident, I looked up some reviews and was horrified to find that someone had even discovered a pig's tooth in their food. This doesn't seem like a one-time mistake -- it points to serious hygiene and quality control issues. What shocked me even more was the owner's attitude. When I explained that I almost broke a tooth because of a sharp piece inside the dumpling, their response was, "So? What do you want me to do about it?" I was completely speechless. In a situation like this, even a sincere apology wouldn't be enough -- how could they speak so indifferently and rudely to a customer? If my tooth had actually broken, I would have seriously considered taking legal action. It's outrageous that such a dangerous incident could be treated with zero responsibility or concern. Given that these problems seem to happen repeatedly, I can only assume that the kitchen and food preparation environment here must be extremely unhygienic and poorly managed. I'm incredibly disappointed and upset, and I will never purchase food from this place again. I strongly advise others to think twice before eating here. read more

I'm obsessed with their giant veggie bun, the vegetable filling is super fresh. So yummy! Sometimes the person at the register does not understand English but that's ok, you can just point at the item you want on the menu. Dine in is self service but take out is also always an option. I love this place. The dumplings are amazing. I especially like the pork with dill, pork with sour cabbage, pork with celery, and pork with string beans. The spicy wonton are good with very thin skins but a little one-dimensional. I also like their larger buns like the carrot and radish buns as well as their meat pies (pork with Chinese cabbage is very good). They have a cold garlic eggplant dish that tastes as if an eggplant fist punched you in the face with a head of raw garlic, but it works beautifully nonetheless. I have to point to the items on the menu for them to understand, but it's well worth the effort. So good. read more

Excellent flavor. Not too oily when I make fried dumplings. The dumpling skin is slightly chewy. It's a good texture. Price point for frozen dumplings are on par with other places. I asked for #4 but they gave me #3 dill and pork which is also fine. The meat is a little lacking in quantity but it's tasty and not too salty. I would buy frozen again. Service can be tough here if you don't speak the language. The workers ignore you until you make some noise. Ladies were busy frying up meat pies. And the two guys ignored me. I had to say "whey" before they even knowledged my presence. If language is an issue quickly follow this strategy. Grab a menu and point to items you want on menu so the worker can understand. The place is a newly created hole-in-the-wall but you can still eat in or take out! I have only purchased the frozen vegetable dumplings for $28. There are 50 pieces. This is a no frills place so don't expect any dipping sauces to go or even any napkins! The dumpling skin is handmade and not the manufactured wrapper. Decent stuffing ratio and there is some spice that is a little tart and I am unsure of what it is! Happy diners are seen eating plateful of gorgeous dumplings.
