Can't believe I still haven't written a review of this spot. Love love this hole in the wall! I found this spot about a year ago when I was searching for hand-pulled noodles on Yelp. While the restaurant is fairly unassuming on both the outside and inside, the food speaks for itself. You don't come to a Chinese restaurant to expect good service, but you come here for the yummy food. They have some pictures of the food on their menu, which is great, and I'm glad Yelp has highlighted a bunch of dishes that we get on the regular. Some of my favorites include: *Stir-fried sliced potato* - which tastes pretty much like mala dry pot, but crispy slices of potatoes (+a few other veggies), and has that numbing mala spice many of us love *Green Bean Jelly w. I am sad so many folks recommended this abomination of a noodle shop. The place was dirty, the tables were sticky and good luck getting a cup or plate that doesn't have dried on food on it. I was scraping for quite a while to get mine off. Ordered the noodles and just when you think things can't get worse the noodles were awful. It was microwaved as parts of it on top were warm and the noddles inside were cold. I told my waiter and he tried to explain to me that it's fresh (yeah ok buddy). The lamb was dried up like peanuts and the noodles were ok at best. One of the best authentic tasting lamb noodle soups you'll find in flushing. It's a large portion at an unbeatable price. I had to share one with my partner. It's cash only though. This must be their new place since they used to be inside new world mall, sitting environment is better now, more spacious. I've been there 2x now, there isn't a lot of customers but think many people don't know they're here. My only complaint is that their staff and owner(s) always occupies one of the large round tables to do kitchen side jobs and talk really loudly. The mom and pop always bickers a lot lol. There's no background music here so it's just you and the staff's endless chatter. The dining experience would be better if it's quieter or at least put some music on so customers can have the option of not listening to loud bickering. I very much miss the lamb noodle soup shop in Golden Mall but my sister told me this place is good. $11 for a giant bowl of hand made noodles (perfectly cooked) and soothing soup- I agree it is pretty delicious. It's sad when businesses close for reasons beyond their control, but this relocation is the best possible kind of outcome. This location has been notorious for turnover and every restaurant has been something different every few years. Other folks have noted this location may serve as a ghost kitchen for their New World Mall stall. If that's really the case, then Incan only see it as a good thing. Speaking of food, the menu is largely the same. All their classic dishes that folks have come to love are available and are good but not better than the original spot. Their namesake dish, lamb noodle soup is still pungent, hearty, and wonderful for a winter day. They also make a mean lamb rou jia mo and have a good case for the ever wonderful da pan ji aka big plate chicken. We got the small chicken [Xiao Pan Nui] plate with noodles $10 to share so we can be able to try a variety of other things. & let me tell you, this thing was AMAZING! On Sunday, we went on a food crawl around Downtown Flushing and this spot was on the list just for their cold noods. And surprisingly, this dish came out on top as the best thing we ate all day! I didn't expect the texture of the noodles to be so. incredibly. chewy. In the best way possible. They were so fresh and bouncy. Not doughy or starchy as they usually are, but chewy. The spice level should be tolerable for most people - not overwhelmingly spicy and just super tasty. Slightly sour and spicy, perfectly balanced. Dare I say it but I don't think Xi'an Famous Foods can live up to this. It's also recommended to get a Chinese Burger from Old Luo Yang (another stall inside New World Mall) to pair these noodles with, which we did, but I was too obsessed (and otherwise full) with the noodles to fully enjoy the burger/pairing. I asked them to make it spicy, exactly like how Mikey Chen had. It blew me away. The dish was really spicy, with big pieces of Ginger and multiple pieces of star anise. The physical menu they have as of 4/30/22 isn't the same and they are currently in the process of creating new physical menus. The current menu book in the restaurant says Sping Fish Village (the name of the business next door) caused a lot of confusion for my group of friends and I when we visited today. They have a loop of Anthony Bourdain visiting their original location years ago (idk where) but I'm pretty sure it's in Flushing (RIP AB) which I believe helps entice non-Asians try this spot out. The BEST place I've eaten at at New World Mall. Huge portions. Amazing flavor. Excellent prices. It's stall 28 and there are only Chinese letters but it's fairly crowded at mealtime and easy to find. I highly recommend the Da Pan Ji (Big Tray of Chicken) and be sure to ask for the noodles, and not the rice. It costs $15, and is absolutely gigantic. It easily fills 2-3 hungry people. The whole dish is bursting with flavor. There's an authentic mix of Chinese spices (peppercorn, anise, etc.) The chicken was tender and well seasoned. The noodles were hand-pulled and amazing. The potatoes were soft and tender. You can eat the peppers too if you have a tolerance for spice. Also, I ordered the Hu La Tang (Spicy and Tingly Soup) and it was okay. I have to get the lamb noodle soup whenever I fly into town. One of the best bang for your bucks in NY.

This is one of my favorite stalls in New World Mall. This stall (#28) is an offshoot of the Lamb Noodle Soup place inside Golden Mall. If Golden Mall is a bit too dirty for you or if you want the variety of a larger food court, this is the place to go. They, of course, have the lamb noodle soup that I love so much. It tastes exactly the same as it does over at the Golden Mall. Here, you also have the option to order lamb "pao mo" soup, which is similar to the normal lamb noodle soup, except the noodle is traded out for boiled unleavened bread dough. It's a very different texture and interesting to try. This stall also has my favorite liang pi out of all the places at New World Mall that sell it. I wish they gave a bit more gluten, but the flavor is great and the portion is large. They also sell cumin lamb ribs and give you a very generous portion for $12. Many people come here for "big plate chicken" or "big plate beef", but I'm personally not a fan of that dish since it tends to be quite oily. Not a knock on the place though; they make a heck of a "big plate chicken", it's just not a dish I enjoy. When I come into the New World Mall, no matter what I decide to eat that day, I always end up back at Stall 28 for at least a liang pi if not a full-on bowl of lamb noodle soup. read more

And I didn't realize there's a COCKROACH OR WHATEVER BUG IT IS IN MY NOODLE until I almost finished my noodles!!! Im giving out all this details cause I don't want people think I'm making up story. I called the store as soon as I found out the cockroach. And the woman who picked up the phone was like, "it's impossible!!" And told me all those excuse like, "it's still in the middle of winter, blablabla" and finally she was like, "okay! Next time when you come to my store I'll give you one for free!" Come in! This is a review of the new location on 41 Ave, which I assume serves as the ghost kitchen for the New World Mall food court stall #28. Before the Golden Mall closed for renovations and forced this place to move from its ground floor location, that was the ghost kitchen for the food court stall. I say this because it's obvious there's no way there's enough room in the food court stall to prep what's needed for the menu. And also, because I can hear them communicating back and forth on their walkie talkies. The new location shares a kitchen with a restaurant called Spring Noodles or something. That's what the name on the awning says. But it's different to the name of the restaurant whose menu is posted on the window outside. And nowhere on either awning or menu or other poster does it say this is the place for lamb noodle soup. When you go in, there is no menu board for lamb noodle soup, but they will make you anything that used to be on the menu of the Golden Mall location, provided you know what to ask for. This is a complete secret menu. I asked the staff if they plan to return to their old Golden Mall space and they said no, because there hasn't been enough customers. So I guess this is it for now. Delivery and indoor dining are available, no outdoor seating. And if you simply ask for lamb noodle soup, the default is the large ($9) size. It's exactly as you remember from the Golden Mall location, except the indoor seating in this location is much nicer. Actual separate tables instead of shared picnic table/counter seating, and real bowls, though they still gave me takeout utensils. The tub of chili oil is there, but you'll have to ask for the vinegar. And since there is now table service, you'll have to leave a tip. Because this location is virtual unknown, NO ONE is ever there. I went for dinner midweek at 6 pm, and it appeared the only other patrons were the owners, and occasionally the workers on break from the food stall location. Really good and cheap cold noodles. Way better than Xian famous food. It seems like Xian famous is all about the lucky hype from tv shows and some marketing. A bit far but it's worth it, the flavor is on another level. Their seasoning is not just some "secret" chili oil, but actually comes with good combination of flavoring with heat that's not overpowering. The texture, unlike the other restaurant, it's has a nice soft chew and it was not hard at all. It's something that I cannot describe because this is the only place that has the correct texture.
