I really enjoyed my lunch here. The staff is extremely pleasant and able to provide helpful recommendations and the restaurant itself is small with few seats and very clean. I ordered the fish cake, crispy roast pork belly, and beef noodle soup. The fish cake was tender and flavorful and came with an extremely large portion. The pork belly is a must order here. The fat layer is extremely crispy and crunchy and the lean layer still has a bit of meatiness left to it. It's well salted and makes an addictive snack. I got the small size and brought it home to snack on for a couple of days. Delicious! The noodles in the soup are chewy and toothsome- the perfect noodle texture. The broth itself is extremely flavorful and the flavor profile is slightly different from a Taiwanese or other standard beef noodle soup. It has some warm spices in it I think, and the fattiness of the tender beef is well balanced by a tangy vinegar note. The soy milk was a great compliment to my meal, slightly sweet and refreshing. Now I can also add Wenzhou cuisine to the list. Aesthetically, the place is a mess, but they're not here to impress you with their looks, but more so to dazzle you with their food. Many items are in food trays and ready to go. Wenzhou cuisine is known for their duck preparations and now I know why. The duck is a cold dish and has a flavorful smokiness and saltiness to the meat which renders it moist and tender, a must have. We also had the vegetarian duck, bean cured gluetin stuffed with julienne carrots, mushrooms and a delicious soy based vinaigrette sauce on the side. My least favorite and spicy dish is the beef, tripe and tendon. Very Spicy but not very flavorful and the ratio of 10% beef and 90% tripe/tendon didn't help either. I was told this was the authentic Wenzhou cuisine. When I walked in, seems like a hole in a wall take out restaurant. Small little store, average 5 seatings max. So it's not much of a dine in kinda restaurant. There is a lot of take out coming in and out. I was lucky and was able to find a seating to dine in, I order the pork chop noodle soup cost $9, and a side order of tea eggs, two for the price of $1. The price is pretty good compare to other joints. The pork chop was very flavorful, and well stewed in the broth, the meat comes right off the bone. It was delicious. I saw the noodle soup broth came from the same pot as where the pork chop that was kept. The food I give it a 10/10, but the dining experience was not so great, the place is so tight small. I understand why there was more take outs then sit ins, I just wish it was more of a dine in environment. Where have you heard this before, "Hole in the wall noodle joint that exceeds expectations". Yep, I know, but this joint really exceeds. Fresh springy noodles, great broth, cheap and fast. So what if ordering is a bit of a challenge and it's cash only, there are pictures on the wall to assist and did I mention it's cheap? Of two options I tried, the noodles were consistent, and the pork ribs were fall off the bone tender. The ribs seemed to have been started in boiling water first but it didn't matter, the broth provide a nice backdrop to support with crunchy fresh veggies included. They had other options, most notably some crunchy pork belly which I'll have to come back any try on my next visit. This is probably my go to spot for wenzhounese food, besides my kitchen . The place is small and has AC but their door stays open so its pretty hot there, so be prepared to sweat. The person who took our order was very informative and gave us all the details we needed to find the right bowl of noodles. We ended up going with their homemade sweet potato noodles, wonton soup, and their spareribs noodle soup. On the side we also got the fried pork belly crisps, which were so good we had to buy a large to bring back. The food reminded me of my grandmas cooking and brings back great memories. Just when I thought this place is away from Main Street, Flushing it would be quiet... Nopes! The crowd goes to where good food is! With about ten seats only (two small tables for two and five stools at the bar), this place it literally what we all call a 'hole in the wall' spot. A good friend and I got a seat at the bar with a view of different marinated cold appetizers and workers busy packing them up. We started with appetizers: the infamous Fried Pork Belly and their take on Spicy Beef and Tendon. Fried Pork Belly is beautifully deep-fried in a golden brown color. Each piece was so crispy and crunchy. It does take a little bit of effort to chew but put some sriracha and chili oil; just to spice it up a notch! Wen Zhou Wonton Soup. It was a rainy day, I just got rained on... and this was the perfect dish to fix that. I did love how simple but tasty at the same time this dish was. There were strips of fried egg, seaweed, spinach, scallions, and minced meat that tops the wonton soup. The wontons had a very small meat filling with dough flying around; similar to Fujianese wontons but with much more. My friend calls them 'ghost wontons' perhaps he meant that it looked like those ghost tissues that we all made for Halloween back in elementary school...haha yes?! I didn't taste much from the wontons themselves but the soup was there to save the day. Braised Beef Tendon Soup was very tasty. What really stood out for me is the pickled vegetables that made the soup so delicious. The beef tendons especially the fatty pieces were so soft and just melts in my mouth. Worst restaurant I ever encountered in my life. I don't know how they could mess up the cooking so badly. I ordered the same fired fish twice and the taste were totally different between these two. The later tasted like they just reheated the dishes/leftovers from yesterday and didn't do the quality check to make sure the dishes were ok to eat. So back to what I got: Stewed spareribs noodle soup, $4.5: it's topped with scallions, pickled lettuce, bean sprouts, and 3 CHOPSTICKS-TENDER spare ribs. The broths is savory without much of MSG taste! The noodle is like those lo-mein noodle, which is fine for me. The ribs is nicely braised, very tasty! How I wish there were more ribs in the bowl!! Wow really special authentic cultural culinary experience. If you want to try noodles that actually represent the taste buds of people from all across different parts of the planet this place is a must try. I love how all the items have clearly labeled pricing. I avoid eating pork and the staff was so helpful to help me find a dish without pork in it. I had to choose between the beef and the fish paste. I picked fish paste and it tasted amazingly light, calm, and mild. But, when I added the house made chili oil it became a flavorful explosion of perfectly balanced salty spicy goodness. I think I've found my favorite noodle spot. Although this place is very small, it is definitely worth checking out. The owner was very nice and helpful. Since it was our first time here, he recommended that we try the fried pork belly. He even gave my boyfriend and I samples of the fried pork belly. It was nothing like I've ever had! So amazing ... it was so crispy & melted in my mouth . MUST TRY!!! I ordered the usual, beef tendon with noodles. The beef tendon were cut very thin and easy to chew. Tiny hole in the wall Chinese food. I came here for breakfast and ordered the sticky rice with pork sauce. It was only $3, but it gave a generous amount of food. There were these crispy pieces of dough on top, chives, and preserved shrimp on top (I think). This is one of those hole in the walls secret noodle shops. There is a no decor, no ambiance, uncomfortable place to eat in. The garbage can is too close to the diner and diners are constantly bumping into each other. All that said, the noodle soup is so good! The beef noodle soup has chunks of savory beef that has enough chew in it to let you know you're eating beef. The broth is a rich deep beefy broth. Then they put in the add ones like the pickled veggies, sprouts, and cilantro. On the tables, they have their home made hot oil. BE CAREFUL WITH THEIR HOT OIL...!!! I'm normally not affected by the hot oil at these restaurants because it's not that spicy. This one was. I put in 2 big spoonfuls (because I'm a spice head) and kept getting caught by surprise as I was eating the noodles and drinking in the soup...so much so that I keep coughing because the spice got to me. lol The tea eggs as an appetizer was great. Some places make the tea eggs very weak and soy saucy...these were actually TEA tasting eggs. So if you're looking for meaty Hong Kong style wontons, this is not for you. But we really liked the mild flavor of this soup and wontons. -Stewed beef noodles or rice noodle soup ($6.50): really good. The broth was full of flavor with just a slight bit of spice. Good amount of tender beef, noodles, and fresh cilantro and pickles. -Tea egg (2 for $1): good. Slightly mild flavor, but still enjoyable. I appreciate that it wasn't overcooked. This place has two small two seater tables, and about five counter seats. It was pretty busy when we went. Due to its limited seating, we had our toddler sit on my lap. The lady working was kind enough to ask if we needed an extra chair, but we declined. We didn't want to cramp up an already small place. You could physically get a stroller and/or wheelchair inside (since the business is more square, than it is long and narrow), but I wouldn't recommend it. There were tons of people coming in and out. Quick and satisfying noodle shop. Chinese noodle shops like this do not get the recognitions they deserved as compare to ramen places. Don't get me wrong, I m a huge fan of a good bowl of ramen. But let's be honest, you can enjoy a savory bowl of piping hot and spicy noodles with the most flavorful of tender and chewy beef tenderloin cooked in a spice fused broth, and forget about ramen shop that are more hype and overpriced. The noodles with spare ribs is another must. Or try them both. I always do. They only have two small tables that can barely accommodate four people each. And a bar that maybe can seat four more people so it's a very tight dinning space. And they do cater a great amount of take outs so people are constantly hover near the front. They served all the dishes in plastic disposable wares. But you don't come here to linger and chit chat. This is Chinese fast food with a home made comfort style that will leave you completely satisfied and can't wait to come back for more. Highly recommended, try everything on the menu. read more

This is my kind of place. Cheap and good eat. They are known for their cold dishes, beef noodle soup, and spareribs noodle soup. Beef noodle soup is excellent, similar to the good places I've been to in Taiwan. Spareribs noodle soup is also very good, rich pork flavor soup with tender ribs that's been slow cooked for a long time. I would recommend this place to my friends. read more

As a gift for driving my friends home to Flushing on Sunday, I was treated to a take out bag of Fried Crispy Pork Belly and Deep Fried Ribs from Gourmet Noodle and Delicacy on College Point Boulevard. I never made it inside as the traffic and parking situation was a nightmare yesterday, and the best I could do was double (triple) park down the street while my friend ran in to get something for me to nosh on the way home. We had planned to have lunch together, but that was just impossible. As I made my way down to the Long Island Expressway and the BQE, the aroma wafting from the loosely tied plastic bag began to gnaw at my stomach. Bacon, BBQ, Grease...all up in my face. Jeez! I confess to committing a traffic violation by opening the knot with my right hand and popping open the two containers within. Man, if texting is distracting, what is being assaulted by such rich odoriferousness? My eyes started watering as I wished for a third arm. The traffic was stop and go for a while approaching the Verranzano and I was able to sample the goods; (without taking my eyes from the road). It was even worse in Staten Island, so I spend about an hour on back streets finding my way to 440 South, and munching on my delicacies. My. Oh. My. The Pork Belly was like biting into an egg keukel (pardon my Heeb reference) - light, airy, crunchy and undeniably intensely baconated. Oily, too. Parts dissolved in the mouth, while parts required mild chewing. A totally fun sensation. Cholesterol? Please, don't ask. The Deep Fried Ribs were like my favorite Chinese Spare Ribs in spades. The meat fell off the bone, and maintained the strong tangy taste of a great rib with more mastication needed than the Pork Belly, but with each grind releasing the pent up rib taste in a new and entertaining texture. It was like eating a spare rib cookie! I didn't eat all of this on the way home, fearing I might OD and get lost. Still, the remainder will be devoured tonight. read more

Walk in. Get a menu. Point to braised beef tendon soup. In 5 minutes you will have the most savory amazing soup in the world. Its spicy and vinegary and so damn good who cares that they are yelling and screaming and that you are 1 inch away from the other table! Its only 6 bucks! The best 6 bucks I've ever spent!!
