Waters and menu arrived quickly. It was going on 10pm EST so we wanted a light meal. They specialize in steamed and fried dumplings. While I prefer steamed, I didn't want a dozen dumplings. There were no option for half an order. For the fried dumplings, you could order 6 of them so we went that route. We ordered the chicken and corn and the shrimp, fish roe and pork shoulder dumplings. Service was quick. There's an area to make your own sauce so I helped myself to a mixture of soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, chili sauce &. garlic. Yum not too greasy and flavorful with the sauce. Every bite is quite literally a burst of flavors Ordered the shrimp, fish roe, and pork dumpling with a chicken leg combo pot. The chicken leg combo surprised me with how tender and tasty the chicken was. The bean curds also carried the flavor well. The dumplings were another surprise. Every bite popped with a little bit of juice from the shrimp and fish roe. Amazing. The only downside I would say is there are no plates that I'm used to eating at restaurants. I just took an extra sauce dish and used that. Service was relatively quick. Food came out nice and hot. There are some condiments you can grab yourself near the back. Was craving soup and decided to try this spot on Prince St in flushing. First we had to order dumplings because it's the name of the place! The dumplings are really good. Tasted very fresh and I would definitely recommend. I personally like fried dumplings but I saw many people order the steamed version. Then we ordered a spicy fish soup because it was the #1 recommended on the menu. I have to say I was a bit underwhelmed. It tasted quite bland. I was hanging out with a friend, and we decided to get KBBQ. However, after checking out the initial place, we changed our minds and decided to look around and found this spot on the corner. From the outside, it looks casual, but once inside, you notice right away the high ceiling, which is unusual for places in College Point/Flushing. We were greeted right away, chose our table, and were promptly served cold water with the menu. They don't have a lot of options, and you don't have an option for fried or steamed dumplings; it's either or. I went with the popular Shrimp, Chives, and Egg, which is only steamed. My friend got the Beef and Onions, which came fried. My dumplings were really good; the wrapper was fresh and chewy but soft, and each dumpling had a full shrimp in it and was stuffed well. I like that they make them fresh in front of you, as the kitchen is open and you can see the staff working. They also have a self-serve sauce station that has soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil. I went there on Saturday at 1pm. It was packed. There were people waiting for take out. We ordered 2 pan fried dumplings, pork and celery and chicken and corn. My kids are not a fan of celery, but they like the chicken and corn. Almost every other table order steam dumplings. I order the shrimp dumpling, steamed. There is a small shrimp in each dumpling. I thought it is pretty good. There is a sauce station that you can prepare your own dipping sauce. They have soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, hot chili oil and minced garlic. A newer dumpling restaurant in the middle of Flushing, if you love dumplings. The filling and size was on the smaller side but the taste was there. I only tried the boiled shrimp, chives, and egg with the pan-fried beef and onions dumplings. They were both tasty and just enough to tame my dumpling craving. Been wanting to try this relatively new dumpling restaurant that opened at a busy corner of Prince St. Came on a weekday night with my friends for dinner and the place was pretty packed since there are not a lot of tables and seats. Although, the ceiling was very high so it did not feel claustrophobic. Along with the bright white lights, red wall tones, and Chinese decorations, the place felt very welcoming. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the only waiter who left us to a table and provided us with water cups. He gave us ample time to review the menu and provided recommendations when we asked. The good thing was that their most popular items were already started on the menu which made deciding easier. My friends and I did family style in which we shared three items. The fish fillet vegetable pot was very flavorful and a tad spicier than normal. The shrimp egg dumplings was good but does not come pan fried. I personally like the pan fried outside but a different inside filling than the celery. The sauce is self made and I like both the vinegar and the chilli oil with sesame oil and soy sauce. Pretty decent dumpling place. Staff immediately came over to have us seated when we came in We tried the shrimp, fish row, pork dumpling and neck bone combo pot. The dumplings were juicy, have a whole shrimp, and you can taste the fish row. The combo pot had tofu skin, bok choy, and of course pork neck. Tho the neck only had 3 vertebra. The meat though was fall off the bone with was great. The stew itself was flavorful too, not overly salty. But that also means it's great by itself, but not as much with rice. Ordered the Corn and Pork Fried Dumplings ($11.99) and the Fish Fillet & Vegetable Pot with Spicy & Sour Broth ($10.99) The dumplings were not overly oily or salty, there was a crisp to the wrapper but not crunchy, the wrapper looks a little thick but it's not chewy, and was enjoyable with or without dipping sauces (grounded garlic + chili oil sauce). I enjoyed the filling but wish there was a little bit more per dumpling. The Fish Fillet & Vegetable Pot with Spicy & Sour Broth was flavorful, but I wish the fish was smoother and meatier. This restaurant chain, based in China, has locations worldwide but this is their first location in NYC with another slated to open in the East Village soon. Their homemade dumplings, has a slightly thicker, chewier wrapper (reminiscent of dumplings one makes at home). They tout that their food is made with less oil and salt for a more healthy dumpling. They don't use any soy sauce in the dumpling fillings and they use wheat flour for the wrapper. I was intrigued so I ordered: Celery and Pork Fried Dumplings ($11.99): 12 pieces of fried pork dumplings. The filing has a very pronounced celery flavor with the chunks of celery mixed with ground pork. After a while, I was not a fan of it. Otherwise, it is a very filling dish. Small Bones Combo Pot ($10.99): had pork bones, bean curd, marinated egg and Bok choy. Such a bargain for this filling dish. Pork was very tender, almost falling off the bone tender. Surprisingly, did not come with rice but ordered it for a $1 more. Honestly, I was more impressed by the Soup Pot selection than the Dumplings selection in their menu. The table next to me ordered the Fish Fillet Pot and it looked amazing. I want to come back and try more of these. These pots were priced so reasonably at $10.99 each. They are a popular franchise from China, which seems like the trend nowadays in Flushing. Unfortunately, it was just an average experience. First of all, there are three ladies making fresh dumplings behind a glass counter. That's usually a good sign. All the dumplings wrappers and fillings are made fresh daily, and that makes a difference. However, though they state Northern style dumplings, the hand-made wrappers were very different than most Northern style dumplings skins I'm use to like from Old Captain Dumplings, Best Northern Dumplings, or Chinese Korean Dumplings in New World Mall food court. The skin was a bit more firm and rubbery, which was okay while hot, but definitely not as good as they cooled. For that reason, we preferred the fried dumplings a bit more. As for the filling, we liked both of the flavors we ordered - shrimp, chive & egg / shrimp, fish roe & pork. Unfortunately, there was just so little of it, not plump like most Northern style dumplings. See my picture and you'll have a better idea of how hallow these dumplings were. Comparing prices, their dumplings definitely are on the high end for Flushing, especially when it's not as overstuffed like other places I mentioned above. One of the coolest parts was watching the chefs make the dumplings by hand; you can see them right at the front, and it adds a nice, authentic touch. We were seated right away with no wait, which was a pleasant surprise. The food came out super quickly, and everything was served as it was ready, so we were always eating something fresh and hot. We ordered the shrimp, chives & egg dumplings, which were light and nicely balanced. The real standout, though, was the shrimp, fish roe & pork dumplings; we got them both fried and boiled in red chili oil. The fried ones were good, but the boiled with chili oil ones were incredible. When I bit into one, the soup inside literally popped out, so juicy and flavorful, with a perfect hit of heat from the chili oil. We also tried two of the soup pot dishes. They do give a decent amount of filling. The dumpling shell/dough looks thick and all but it was actually very light to the bite and chew. Even after sitting for a few minutes, it didn't dry out and become hard. . The sauce station is by the fridge. They have soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil and chili oil. . Aside from the 6 variation of dumplings, they have 6 soup hotpots to choose from. . We got the braised Small Bones Combo Pot, comes with pork bones/meat, bean curd, braided egg and veggies. This was very good and you gotta get a bowl of rice (for $1) to eat with it. The ingredients are almost room temperature when it's brought out, it self heats so give it some time to come to a boil. This place was just ok. I wouldn't go in with too high expectations but as some background info this is a dumpling chain that came from China. This is their first location in NY and they're about to open a second one in Manhattan too. I got the pan fried pork, shrimp, fish roe dumplings, steamed shrimp, Chives and egg dumplings and the beef with wood ear appetizer. The total came out to be about $40. It's pretty much $1 per dumpling but the dumplings aren't that big or bursting with filling. Both flavors were decent just mild flavors but nothing too amazing. I did like that pan fried was fried just enough to be crispy but not crazy crunchy so it didn't feel too oily. The quantity for the appetizer was so small though it was like 5 small slices of beef and then all wood ear. One thing to note is they only offer hot water and you get up to make your own dipping sauce in the back. Went there today for the first time. I've seen video clips of this place on Instagram and wanted to see for myself if it was really that good. We ordered three items off the menu. The first was the shrimp, eggs and chive dumplings. The other was the shrimp and pork shoulder pan fried dumplings. Finally, the fish fillet in the hot pot. The pan fried dumplings were amazing. It wasn't greasy nor sitting in a pool of oil. The wrapping had a nice crispy texture. The filling was perfectly sealed up and had great flavor. And when you put the dumpling in your mouth, you can feel the crunchiness of the shrimp. The shrimp was not minced up like other places. The steamed dumplings were also fantastic. Do yourself a favor. Go there and order the dumplings, but don't dunk the dumplings into the sauce. Try without the sauce and you'll be amazed at how good it is by itself. The fish fillet in the hot pot was also good and what I liked about it was that for the price it was perfect for two people. I went in with 0 expectations and wanted something quick and easy. Their menu is fairly simple, dumplings with fried and steamed options as well as a few entree choices and cold appetizers. I ordered the shrimp pork roe fried dumplings (10/10), steamed egg dumplings (6/10), fried pork and celery dumplings (10/10), as well as the braised bones (8/10) with rice. All of which came out in less than 10 minutes. The dumpling skin is spectacular. From the outside, it looks doughy and thick, but it was actually quite thin and had a nice chew. The texture of the skin was nothing i've ever had before, and the fillings were also amazing. I had preference for the shrimp fried dumpling over the other two while my boyfriend really loved the pork and celery. The dumplings were not overly oily or salty and was enjoyable with or without dippping sauces (garlic + chili oil sauce, spectacular... give me 14 of em). The egg dumplings were more bland and had a mushier texture, would probably have enjoyed it more if it was fried for texture reasons.
