I ate here tonight. First time. Nicely updated in a clean and more contemporary way than The Plantation (previous restaurant) was. Pros: Clean Comfortable Nice atmosphere Nice window seats, plenty Excellent filet mignon Blue cheese topping I chose was outstanding Good cheesy potatoes Local peanut butter chocolate ice cream was fantastic Friendly, enthusiastic & attentive staff Great menu Clean bathrooms Nice lighting - not too dark & not too bright Open on Mondays Not perfect: Bread roll was forgettable. Steak knives have teflon (or black coloring) flaking off of them. Asked waitress for a different knife as I didn't want to digest the flakes and she stated they all look the same but did bring me a less damaged knife. I really, really disliked the music - all was same male artist. It played loudly enough that I felt forced to tolerate it. I would like to preface this review by saying that the food was good. However waiting 3 hours for the food was not worth it. We had a reservation at 8, we got there 10 minutes early, we were told our table would be ready in less than 10 minutes. We were not seated till 8:20. After that we waited another 15-20 minutes before our server even came to our table for the first time. We put in appetizers and entrees at the same time. We waited an hour for our pretzel and cheese curds. We originally thought the kitchen was backed up, but then a table that was sat 30 minutes after us had their appetizers come out and we decided to see what was up. We had to go ask the hostess about the wait because our server hadn't checked in on us the entire time. The hostess was sitting at the bar having a drink when a member of our group went up to ask her about the food. We were told by the server and the hostess that there was a "glitch" and our orders never were put in, as well as multiple other tables orders for our specific server. As someone who has worked in the service industry I don't see how you could go an hour knowing your table order appetizers that hadn't come out yet and do nothing about it. In addition our server said that this can happen because wifi isn't great up here and this happens a frequently during the summer. If this is a known problem maybe going back to plain old pen and paper would be beneficial to the restaurant. When our appetizers finally came out we were told that our appetizers would be taken off ( this is important for later) by both our server and the hostess. The pretzel was great the cheese curds were good too. We waited another 45 minutes for our main courses to come out, When our food came out our server also told us we would be getting a desert in the house ( also important for later). By the time we got our main course it was pretty late and we wanted boxes and the check so we could go back to our cabin. We did not see our server again for another 10-15 minutes and we ended up going and asking the bar for boxes. We waited another 5-10 minutes to see if our server would come out to get our checks. Surprise, she didn't . once again we sent someone back up to the bar to see if we could get our checks there, we eventually got our check from our server. She told us she boxed us up some cheesecake and gave it to us and we payed and left. As we were walking back to the car my friend's husband checked the receipt and saw that NOT ONLY DID THEY CHARGE US FOR THE APPETIZERS THEY ALSO CHARGED US FOR THE CHEESECAKE WE DIDN'T EVEN ASK FOR OR WANT! We sent him back in to fix the receipt and when he came back he said that they couldn't do anything because no one in the restaurant had the access to take anything off. I am shocked by how bad and unprofessional the service was. We do understand that holiday weekends are a busy time of year, but they are always a busy time of year and crowds should be anticipated. Between not seeing our server for the first 15 min, waiting almost 2 hours for food, the hostess drinking while at work, and being lied to about part of our meals being compensated, we will not be returning to fin and filet. If you are considering this restaurant do not go during the summer holidays. I'm sure they are fine during the rest of the year. read more

Went here to celebrate our Anniversary this past Saturday night. First off, love what they have done with the place. They took the old Plantation building and really made it look nice. The atmosphere at the bar was very good and the drinks we ordered, Maple Old Fashion and other specialty drinks, had very good flavor. For dinner we started with the Ahi Tuna appetizer which tasted very fresh. Then we ordered the Plantation Filet and Salmon salad. Both were cooked how we wanted and tasted great. I've gone to Northfork several times, sometimes twice a week. The cocktail's, food and service is all wonderful. I've had several of the appetizers. The ahi tuna and Avocado Caprese are my 2 favorites so far. The daily specials I've tried have all been amazing, my favorite was the Red Snapper. My 'fallback' order is always the filet done medium rare with the raspberry asparagus, my favorite steak choice in the Northwoods. The desserts are insane HUGE and worth every extra calorie. We've dined at the bar and also in the dining room. The staff was top notch during all of our experiences. I've had dinner for 2, up to a party of 10, all spot on. I'm slowly making my way through the cocktail list from the old fashions to the margaritas and of course the classic dirty martini. I love that Northfork is a place to meet friends for drinks and a appetizer or for a date night out. A wonderful addition to our area. read more

Brandy old fashioned was exactly as I like it; the perfect Manhattans & the Bloody Mary did not disappoint. Two of us had the special Chilean sea bass with cilantro rice and black beans. The fish was flaky and moist and the flavors were dynamite. The other two had filets and scallops which were done to their liking and also full of flavor. One of our favorites was the caprese avocados appetizer and the shrimp cocktail was an ample serving of very large shrimp with great sauce. Overall from beginning to end we enjoyed our evening. We had our first visit tonight and we'll definitely be back. There were four of us, 3 of us had steak and the 4th had seafood. Hubby and I made a trip to Northfork Fin and Filet on Saturday, 2/3 to celebrate my birthday. We'd dined at the restaurant once before but I did not remember how arrogant the restaurant employees were. In the Northwoods, WI area (where the restaurant is located), this year many of the businesses are struggling due to the lack of snow and cold temperatures. Some businesses have decided to close. Others are doing everything they can to keep folks coming in their front doors, being arrogant is not one of those things. Now don't get me wrong, the ambience and the food at this restaurant is fine, service was a tad below fine so it was okay to start. We waited for more than an hour and 10 minutes - about 30 minutes after we were done with our appetizers - for our entrees. Even though we were the first table to be sat in the dining room we noticed that some of the tables that were of larger groups and that had come in after us, were already getting their meals. We chatted with the management, who was a lil bent that we interrupted her, about our disappointment that our entrees were taking so long and she never apologized AND she made my hubby and I feel as if we were wrong for questioning the timing, that we didn't know anything about food service... We weren't born the day before, we had been around the block a time or a million. Anyway, we said we wouldn't be back. read more

We arrived early on a Friday night but the place already had an hour wait. Luckily there was room at the bar and we could order there. We had the caprese stuffed avocados which wee very good. The crab and lobster bisque was outstanding. My wife and I both ordered the filet. The steak was cooked perfectly, had a great sear and was seasoned perfectly. The remodeling looks great, wait staff was great. PRICES are ridiculous compared to other places in the area. So I had the 1lb. Hamburger because I couldn't see pay the prices for the other items on the menu. So ok 1lb burger $18 made from lake Tom. Butcher I know that is good meat but 25 cents for each ,lettuce, tomato, onion $2 for bacon and served with chips $1.50 more for waffle fries wow !! for $18 and they can't throw in fries (terrible ) also are table of 6 received 6 dinner rolls when we asked for more we were told .50 cents a piece how many would you like. First time to check out the old Plantation building with the new Fin & Filet restaurant tonight 03/27/21. What I loved about the Plantation was when the bar opened at 4:30 and before they served at 5:00 they brought out two different cheese spreads and warm sliced french bread and crackers. Gratis for anyone who wanted it with their before dinner drink. The new place doesn't do that. I'll try and see it from their perspective. Why should we give them appetizers gratis when we serve appetizers before their meal for a price? Unless it's because of the Covid thing. Four of us were there tonight. At the bar we had 1 bloody mary, 1 single scotch on the rocks, 1 chocolate martini and a margarita . Total $37 bucks. For dinner two folks had prime rib. One had 14oz and one had the 22oz. That's all they order whenever they eat out, so, apparently they know what they like. They weren't impressed. One said it was chewy. Another had the Moroccan Noodles. They enjoyed that. Another had blackened salmon. That was very well liked. Side salad was extra. $3.75. It was OK. Not much to it. At the table one had a coke to drink, one had a double scotch (Dewar's) on the rocks and one had mango and peach sangria. Dessert we had two carrot cakes and one coffee. Excellent! The entire family was amazed, from 13 to 76. We had to wait a little while which wasn't a problem. There is a nice heated outside area with games and a bar so waiting wasn't a problem. Fin was 2 shrimp and 2 scallops, tasted fine but little bit lacking. Filet was probably the worst piece of meat I have ever had, very tough and grizzly. Did like the decor. I'm vegetarian and only went here because my mom and sister were up to visit me. Really nothing at all interesting on the menu for a strict vegetarIan. Painfully long wait and the food didn't all come at once. I had the worst case or Farts from this garbage in the past 5 years. Being vegetarian and eating at home for years has confirmed why I quit going out to eat. This place is extremely overrated and overpriced. I am sad to say that I did not have a good experience The hostess was very rude when asked about food take out order and kept pointing towards the bar, sighing, and rolling her eyes while interrupting being asked question about the order. Wait time was much longer than stated, which I understand happens sometimes (it was very busy, it makes sense!), but it was difficult because nobody seemed to check in when a long time had passed waiting so it was a difficult position of continuing to wait or thinking maybe someone forgot. When asking the hostess again about the order to check in, she became visibly annoyed and yelled she "told me already!" Where to stand to wait and then ran to the kitchen and after a few moments waved me over angrily, and huffed "See?! They were bagging it already. Go." I felt so sad and confused. I also feel there may be a systematic issue of having to ask the bartender about take out order instead of hostess and wait by kitchen, it feels inefficient and crowded given that the bartender is very busy with customers and it requires people with take out orders to stand ambiguously where the wait staff need to get through. Although the food was very yummy, the experience was so disappointing that it is hard to imagine being comfortable enough coming back. In addition, to anyone who is concerned about COVID-19 regulations, no precautions where taken at this facility aside from a couple waitstaff wearing masks. read more
