I bought some widow hardware from this guy 30+ years ago, so I knew what to expect (prickly, rude, condescending). I can now add terrible workmanship to the list. I just had two 72" X 8" storm windows refitted with tempered glass here. When I went to install them I found silicone smeared on both sides of each window, and an excessive amount of sloppy silicone bead around the edges. It looked like a bad homeowner job, not a $400 pro one. One hour with a razor blade and several cleanings and they looked good enough to install. read more

I called a lot of different companies that weren't able to help due to the specificity of the job, but the owner of Northlite Glass was extremely competent and experienced. Went to the store 4 times to get a quote on shower doors. First time the owner was on vacation. Understandable. On other trips owner was out and the other staff does not "do anything with showers". Asked to make an appointment and was told no, we just had to keep trying to catch him in. Gave up and sent email with the info, asking for an estimate and to set up measuring appointment. Wasn't really surprised when we didn't get a response. Tried to use a local store instead of a big box but it got us nowhere. read more

Beware prospective buyers, I called and as requested I sent photos of the stationary side glass panel for a patio door. When I made a follow up call to receive a quote the rather unprofessional owner stated the replacement and installation cost would be around $700.00 - $900.00. I asked if he could be more specific in the price and he stated, to do that he would have to come over and when he got here he will need a deposit then and there because he is not going there for his exercise. I mentioned the photos I sent had all the measurements and information he would need. He then on the phone stated That he seen the photos and that it will cost $1014.00. I asked him why so high of a price for a panel of glass and he said it was a lot of labor and it would take his guys 1 hour to install it. I've worked in construction all my life and 1 hour labor is just getting started for a long day. 1 hour is a lot of labor? Again folks beware..... read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. Will never do business here again. They had trouble fixing a couple of windows that wouldn't stay up in our house. When I didn't want to pay for the "labor" the second time they came out to my house and told me they couldn't fix them (I had already paid $70 just to have them come out for 5 minutes and look at them) the owner filed a claim with small claims court that very SAME DAY. His invoice states terms of payment are 30 days from date of invoice. We ended up paying him the next day just so that we wouldn't have to deal with him anymore and he has been harassing me about reimbursing him for his court fee ever since. I have never in my life heard of someone filing a claim with small claims court against someone the same day, especially for a job that wasn't completed. Watch out for this company!!! read more

Price was decent, work was satisfactory. Very impatient, prickly, condescending owner. Horrible customer service. I would have taken my business elsewhere, but I would have had to drive 30 minutes just to get another quote, so I bit my tongue and let him fill the order. I'd suggest trying any other custom glass shop available, mainly to spare yourself the frustration of associating with this sociopathic owner, but unfortunately he's the only game in town at the moment. read more

I had two large mirrors from two bathrooms that had some corrosion of the reflective surface at the bottom due to moisture. Northlite said they could cut off the bad portion for around $10 per mirror. But while attempting to cut of the bottom off one mirror he broke it in two, diagonally. No apology - just "that shouldn't have happened." He then quoted a price of $160 to replace the mirror - no discount, still no apology. Claimed that all cuts are at customer risk, but had not told me that before starting. Then he still charged $10 for cutting the other mirror. read more

Very dissatisfied and would recommend you go elsewhere. Charged me $100 more to replace 7 window screens than a quote I got from Benson's after the fact. I also had an issue with a window that he repaired which was covered by warranty but he went on to tell me that his labor is not covered under warranty and therefore the "fix" would cost me $65. His competition quoted me $25-$30. I agree with the 11/14/14 post. The owner is "prickly & condescending". He was nice as could be at first but once I questioned the warranty and his prices he became extremely rude and disrespectful. Will NEVER do business there again. read more

Not the least bit surprised by the rip off artist the owner of Northlite Glass is in Derry NH. He scoffed off with 53.00 for a pane of non glare glass. 18"x 27" see our full review on NH.com of the total incompetence of this man. pictures included. He not only cut the glass too short even though he had the frame and print to measure he would not replace the glass when it broke from not fitting in the frame. He also would not refund the monies, and wanted to charge an additional 30.oo if they intstalled the glass! and another 53.00 to replace the glass that broke because of his error!! It took 2 minutes for us to put the glass in ..and then it chipped because it was cut short!! It didn't even cover the mat size!! by the time we got it back to his store once the frame was placed down it fully cracked because of the chip !! This is a cheap out fit and they will not take responsibility for damages when they are the ones who caused the damage! Stay away!! Im reporting them to better business as well as every site that protects the consumer. Not only that every business in the area will be notified of this mans disregard for stealing money from customers! Thank you Yelp! read more

I WOULD NOT DO BUSINESS HERE AGAIN. Bought a piece of replacement glass for my wood stove which he cut and said was "Neoceram" glass which is very expensive, costing me almost $200 for a piece approx. 19"x11". I put the glass in which is held in place with clips that you screw in to hold the glass being sure not to tighten too tight nor leave too loose. The process is very easy and no special tools or skills are needed to "install" this glass. It is easy in and easy out. Stove manual does not recommend any specialist to take out or put in glass. Gaskets in the stove very good. This stove is less than 2 years old and still like new condition. This glass was thick glass (3/16" thick). I opened and closed the door a few times and had no problem after I put it in. The stove has an iron grid in the front which protects the glass. Never lit the stove yet since it is summer. Nothing has fallen or even leaned on the stove and no one in the house but me. A few weeks later when my sister came over for a visit, I opened the door to show her the new glass and when I opened the door the right third of the glass just fell to the floor. There was never any pressure placed on this glass nor a fire burned in the stove. My sister was witness to this. I called to report this and the person who answered the phone said Fred probably would not be able to help me but went and got him on the phone. I told him that this glass must have had a defect in it for it to have just broken without any pressure or anything at all that should have caused it to just crack. He denied this and had no help to offer. Then he said since he did not "install" the glass there was nothing he could do. (He also said I should have had him "install" it for the $30 charge and then "maybe" he could offer something). This cost is exorbitant for "installation" which takes no special skill or tools and it was never even offered in the first place when I bought the glass and I would never even think to ask because the "install" is so easy. Because this glass cost almost $200 and I need it to run the stove in the winter, I asked if he could sell me another piece at cost. The answer was a flat "No". In hindsight, I recall his taking this piece of glass before he cut it from an out-of-the-way shelf and it was all dusty and there was no marking or label on it saying it was "Neoceram" glass. Who knows what this $200 piece of glass really was and I will be sure to remember to get verification the next time I buy any kind of specialty glass. I bought another piece of glass from another company and it was less expensive, they said they would "install" it for free if I wanted but agreed that there are no special skills needed to set the glass in and turn the screws. No, I would not do business with Northlite again and would not recommend. Overpriced, not helpful in any way. If you like rattlesnakes, you'll love his personality! No customer service skills whatsoever and is sure to always deny that he would ever have anything to do with the problem and will always blame the customer. read more
