Northside 10..hmm well I've gone here twice and both times I ended up disappointed. I really thought it could have been a fluke visit the first time. The atmosphere is nice and has potential to be a great place for a date night but the food just wont let it be great. With the food...an acquired taste is needed. I'll say that if you mess up garlic bread something is wrong. Both times I ordered the artichoke dip with bread and the butter was never fully melted which blew my mind. I had to scrape off the butter just to enjoy it..either that or consider a glob of butter as a "side". I had the meatloaf thinking ok nobody can mess up meatloaf right? I mean it was the worst but it needed a little bit more seasoning like something was missing. I couldn't really enjoy the dinner only because when I wanted to ask for more condiments to assist with doctoring up my meatloaf...the service was slightly slow. I normally don't complain about service if its busy, but for a Friday night it was nice out but the place wasn't too packed to come and check on your customer from time to time. Solid restaurant/pub to come hang with friends. They do live music on the weekends outside (usually a guitar/singer) and they have plenty of seating inside/outside. The food was solid all around, and there are lots of good options on the menu. Short rib poutine appetizer is a must try. Only reason this got 4 stars was because service was a little slow at times and we ended up for drinks frequently, but the servers were all lovely and they are likely still bouncing back from COVID challenges! read more

Returned on a busy Saturday night, with a packed bar and a capacity filled restaurant. After a brief wait, we got a nice table to the back. If you read my previous report, food quality was equal if not a bit better. I had the Salmon BBQ, wife had the chicken main dish, and daughter had the ribs. All were excellent. Service was about the same, but still pretty good on a very busy night. The bar service was ok, but I was not a fan of their mixed drink offerings. Fantastic restaurant. We were craving burgers and this place did not disappoint! Lanni got the Oyster po boy with fries and I got the Virginia burger which came with Virginia ham. Everything was so darn flavorful and they give a hefty portion! Please try the risotto fritters as an app, highly recommend. I usually get my burgers rare and they absolutely killed it. The temp was perfect, we were at another local burger bar who basically just didn't cook the patty. This burger from Northside was great for redemption! We got the sweet tea lemonade, blueberry, and moscow mule for cocktails. The drinks were on the stronger side but they had no problem accommodating. Not to mention, the food came out pretty fast! This was our first visit to this place and I was surprised to discover it. We live 10-min drive away but never heard of it before. Thanks to Yelp we made a visit last night and were excited to discover this little neighborhood gem. It feel very cozy inside, which I really liked. The waiter was caring and helped us selecting from the menu. He seemed knowledgeable about the specifics of the items they had. The food was tasty. I really liked the risotto fritters ($11) as an appetizer and hanger steak with mushrooms and mashed potato ($25) that I had as a main course. Northside is a great little spot that has a solid menu, bar, and nice outdoor seating. Their rueben sandwich happens to be my favorite and I tend to stick with getting just that but hey, everytime it's consistently made and filled will deliciousness and a generous side of fries. You also can't go wrong with their catfish po'boy! We've been ordering food from them "to go" over the course of the year and the food is still great. Usually our order is done very quickly (15-20 min) which gives us ample time to drive over and pick it up. When picking up, they have a table set up outside where you "check in" with the hostess, give them your name, they bring you your food, you pay, and you're on your merry way! My group sat outside, which was a pleasant enough setting in the Virginia spring. Our waitress really knew her craft and even asked if I was looking for a super sweet drink when I ordered one of the cocktails. I wasn't, so I ordered something else. She brought out drinks and then appetizers and gave us time to enjoy those without overlapping our entrees. Thar pacing is incredibly rare, intentional (and more often high-end) service in my experience. We were never rushed. The appetizers were a good sharing size and the fritters so delightfully cheesy! The entrees are large, the fried foods crispy, and the sauces tangy. Great eats on top of topnotch service. COVID Review (May 2021): I'm still nervous about folks I don't know going unmasked around me, so I wasn't thrilled that the service staff weren't masked on our visit. read more

Just on the Del Ray - Alexandria border we found Northside 10. It's a great out of the way combo sports bar and restaurant. The tap room/sports bar is compact but offers several channels of TV sports and music for entertainment. There is seating at the bar and a few nearby tables. Just off the bar is the main dining room which has private booths and tables. The Northside menu consists of hearty sized appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees with daily specials and deserts. The theme is southern comfort foods. Some favorites include fried chicken, blackened chicken pasta, chicken quesadillas and deserts like key lime pie or coconut cream This restaurant wouldn't be great without a good cooking and wait staff. They are friendly, very attentive and professional. They often go out of their way to provide great service. Great place for a solid brunch at a pretty good price! I came here with a friend today and I got a coffee + Fried Chicken Biscuit Sandwich which came with home fries for $11. My other friend got a special which was the BLT Eggs Benedict - which came with Bacon, Spinach, and Tomato combined with the poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. The home fries that it came with were my favorite! I enjoyed them because they included lots of peppers in the potatoes making them both tasty AND healthy. If you come here for brunch, come hungry because the portion sizes are generous! Their menu has a lot of your standard eggs Benedict and biscuit options, ie sausage gravy with biscuits, and fresh fruit as a side. The prices range from $10-$20, and given the portion size I'd say overall this place is a good value brunch place! I liked that this place is spacious, not crowded like some other brunch spots and has a cozy, neighborhood feel with hanging lights. I tried this restaurant since it was participating in Restaurant Week. It was one of the furthest ones away from me but only by a little over a mile. They texted me what time my order would be ready and it ended up being 5 minutes earlier. I ordered Fried Green Tomatoes which came with a very tasty, slightly spicy sauce. I would most likely get those again. The Southern Fried Chicken was quite tasty and still crunchy when I got home. It came with a biscuit and honey for dipping. What was missing was the mac and cheese and slaw that was supposed to accompany the fried chicken. The drawback to ordering for pick up is if you don't check your order before leaving the premises, you screwed if you are missing something. The Key Lime Bar was delicious--not too sweet. Northside10 - Bar and Grill but so much more! We happened upon this casual dining spot in Alexandria during a family vacation. Ambiance - casual, friendly, spacious with options. Take your pick of the covered patio, uncovered patio with umbrellas, bar area or general dining area. The menu has a great mix of bar offerings with some outstanding entrees that are worth trying. Of note: Crab & Artichoke dip (not your standard and a nice upgraded version!), wings, perfectly seasoned and fried oysters, shrimp risotto and grilled catfish. Wednesday is Raw Bar night with a delectable selection of clams, mussel, oysters and the like. Service - outstanding. The food is inconsistent and the service here is terrible! Be prepared to be ignored by everyone there the minute you step in the door, the managers, waiters, waitress, busboys, bartender will all look at you, sometimes even making eye contact, but they all refuse to greet you or seat you, doesn't make a difference if it is busy or slow. Despite the bad service, I use to visit the location quite often as I live two blocks away and within walking distance. The final straw was regarding the Jambalaya Pasta that I ordered without shrimp, but instead, substitute with extra smoked sausage. When the entree arrived, it literally had 5 peices of sausage! When I asked about the lack of sausage, the waiter contacted the manager, and without even looking at my plate, the manager flatly refused to help make the situation right by simply providing $1.00 or $2.00 worth of sausage, figured the shrimp that I omitted, costed way more than that! Go to Southside in Old Town instead, same owners, most of the same food, but definitely better managed there, night and day difference! read more

Although near the city, this place has its own parking lot and plenty of street parking near by. Our waitress was very nice, the food was great, and my friends enjoyed their drinks as well. The one con I found was that many of their items have pork and you can't substitute it out. Example - shrimp and grits has andouille gravy and all of their gravies are pork based. First off this restaurant has a parking lot!!! I've been for lunch twice and was very pleased both times. Once I ate in the bar area and once I ate in in the restaurant and both times the service was very friendly and quick! Wow! Northside 10 is a 10! Great food, SUPER service, an excellent dining area, and parking too! They also have a bar area with lots of TVs that would be great for watching the game before or after getting a bite to eat. Our server, Rachel, was OUTSTANDING!! When asked for recommendations (she also is a great listener) she was ready to give us the benefit of her knowledge and experience and she was spot on. Great beverage - we had beer and wine - selection, including some excellent local craft beers. For appetizers we had the Mac and Cheese (Wonderful), risotto fritters (excellent), and fried brussel sprouts (not my thing, but everyone else said they were great). I was a little overwhelmed by the appetizers and could have gone home happy and content at that point, but there was more to come. I had a fish and chips special and the fish was SPECIAL! Fresh and cooked right it melted in my mouth and made me happy! The fries were fried, nothing special but I was past caring. Six more meals were delivered and devoured with lots of happy, happy people. Lots of food too! But then Rachel said we had to try dessert. She gave us choices, but we declined until we acquiesced. We only got one dessert, and seven spoons. For dessert we had the Northside Peach Pound Cake and it was gooooood! I was full, but it was worth it. The peach is there but it doesn't overwhelm. The ice cream and pound cake with the peach are smooth, simple, and worth another trip even without anything else. Rachel was GREAT all evening. The bar was full so I was sat in a booth. I ran to the bathroom and unfortunately someone was sat in my booth while I was gone. The response from the hostess and Kevin was so great. I can't imagine how tough that would be in a crowded place. Comping my drink was totally unnecessary but a welcomed gesture. Class act. I sat at the bar and at the best fried chicken but the mac and cheese was sneaky good. I could've had that as the main. In looking around I probably should've got the poutine. It looks super good! Me being me, I take a small piece of the pastrami & it changes my life :-) it's hiding 5-6 LAYERS OF FLAVOR BY ITSELF!!!! It was truly incredible & almost melted in my mouth. So- now I HAVE to try the sauerkraut by itself too. It's astonishingly mild mannered, but packed with flavor. From the smell of the plate I was expecting a stronger kick, but no. Just an enjoyable bite. I take a bite of the sandwich & heaven transcends. My mouth is almost overwhelmed by the explosion of flavors. The meat, pastrami, dressing all marry together better than I could have POSSIBLY anticipated. A shocking smile emerges while I'm chewing this bite of heaven & the waitress comes over & smiles & says, I'm guessing you like it. I can't stop chewing long enough to answer so I Nod :-) I've eaten hundreds of reubens (honestly, no exaggeration - my favorite sandwich) and this one blows them ALL away. I have to say I quite enjoyed my burger order via Uber Eats for lunch. I did ask for medium but it was almost well, but it was still flavorful and I enjoyed it. The onions, lettuce and tomato were all crisp too. Fries were a tiny bit soggy and cold, not sure how they could've stayed hot more but they were still tasty. Ugg, I'm sorry but I wasn't a huge fan based off my one visit. I wanted to get out of National Harbor for a night and Yelp directed me here. Northside has great Yelp reviews so I figured it was a solid choice. I wanted a good steak, so I went with the Strip Steak cooked to MR. my meal came out quickly while I was squeezed in the corner of a busy bar. My steak was tough and super fatty. I had two bites before I didn't want anymore. I ate the mashed potatoes and the gouda and apparently the crab topping. Funny, I don't usually eat crab, due to a personal preference, but I didn't even taste it. In fact, until just now when I reviewed the menu again, did I realize that I ate crab. Cheers to being a more adventurous eater! When I visited it was a Friday night, so of course it was busy. There were a lot of regulars in the bar getting lots of drinks and attention. When the server checked on me, I mentioned that I didn't care for the steak and I think it was very clear that I barely touched it and without hesitating, she took it off the bill. The food is really tasty and flavorful, the short rib poutine is a really hearty starter. The meatloaf is very good and so is the shrimp risotto and jambalaya pasta. The bar tender was friendly and personable without being overbearing. Food was great and came out at a good pace. I did ask for my chicken buffalo style but I'm unsure if it all soaked into the breading or it didn't transfer on the bitesquad app. Nonetheless the sandwich had a baby kick to it and nothing overwhelming for someone like myself who can't eat spicy or hot food. The fries which didn't have time to make it in the photo were battered lightly and were really good. I always expect soggy fries on carry out but they were still crispy when food arrived.
