    Corned Beef Hash
    Randa U.

We found this place as we dropped off our fur baby at the Chicago Cat Clinic near by. This is an old retro diner with counter service (and a few 2-top tables) that serves breakfast (mostly corned beef hash or some type of hash) with coffee and a smile. We sat down and viewed the menu that had plenty of corned beef hash options. I opted for the traditional CBH. You can see the chef (and I believe owner) making them on the grill. The space is very small, but you can tell the restaurant has been in tact for decades and the owner isn't changing the charm. The service was great, the restaurant is small but quaint, clean, and most importantly - delicious. I really didn't expect to enjoy my food so much, but it's really a hidden gem.

Very nice little breakfast diner. I always thought they only had coffee so I never went, but my buddy told me they are pretty much a restaurant so I decided to try it. And they did not disappoint. The retro breakfast diner feel, the food was amazing and the staff was so so nice. I got the steak and eggs and it was hands down amazing! They basically cook the food right in front and there are stools at the counter. It's a very small spot but they deliver big. I'll be back.

A year after my initial review, they know us when we come in, we eat here regularly, and I haven't found anything on the menu that I regretted ordering yet. Today I ordered the Monte Cristo french toast and I think it's maybe my favorite menu item yet. It's sweet and salty, it's filling, it's fresh and truly a brunch lovers dream. My boyfriend sticks to his tried and true breakfast sandwich, which is perfectly cooked every time. We love coming here. Parking is easy and free. Staff are so personable and welcoming. Food is delicious, portions are big, and it's very affordable. Don't sleep on this gem.

This coffee shop and diner rocks! You might not be able to get a seat because it can get very busy, but there are 12 seats at the diner and 3 small tables for 2. It is definitely a family type fuel here with a classic vibe. You can find oldies playing on the two TVs, with classic songs playing in the background. It was like a time machine back into 1980. Many regulars come in and are known by name. Multiple people working there will come and talk to you as well. Today I tried a bacon date and goat cheese omelette which came with a side of pancakes and hash browns, all for $14. The Omelette was different, with a combination of savory, sweet, and creamy! I highly recommend the spice rub that is on the side, which is very tasty and not too spicy. It is definitely worth coming back here, just might have to wait or come at a later hour. Customer Parking is available alongside the restaurant and on street, but beware that the parking lot sign does not indicate that Edgebrook Coffee Shop customers are listed on there. I recommend the business to make parking recommendations to ease the burden on the customers, but I had no problem parking her for 30 min.

First time here. Had to try their house corned beef. A smile greeted me upon entering. I was able to pick some sides to make my meal exactly how I wanted. Not many old school diners anymore. The restaurant is cozy and you can tell there are some regulars. It's clean and the counter is tidy.

07/25/20 - One of my all time favorite breakfast places. They have THE BEST CORN BEEF HASH I ever ate. I walked 5.5 miles this morning ate 1/2 of my breakfast & walked 2.3 miles home. Absolutely delicious as always. 2 other Yelp Elites I know Jacob & Tim H have been here 19x's each. I met Tim here one time for breakfast. He drove all the way from Naperville to join me for chow. What does that tell you about Yelpers & the quality of food served here. Edgebrook Coffee Shop is a very tiny diner w/limited seating on the best day, but Covid further limits their ability to seat and serve too many people at once. They did have a couple of tables outside but they are outside along Central Ave in the hot East sun. Still it's worth it to grab some of THE BEST CORN BEEF HASH I ever ate.

Smoked bratwurst hash on this week's special.

Old school and could use a scrub, but the service was lovely and the leek and gruyère omelet was hot and fresh. Burger was also solid.

We talked long with the bartender and a young man that worked there. Order a few drinks and talked with these two guys for fifteen minutes or so off and on before we even ordered anything. Hard to say which was out favorite because they were all equally as delicious and bursting with flavor from the fresh ingredients. The vibe was very comfy, not too upscale- think "chillaxed" vibes. I came with 2 girlfriends and we each had a different type of margarita. I also got to try their seasonal blood orange margarita, which was also delicious! We had the flautas appetizer and for my entree, I ordered the chorizo taco and the pork belly taco. I didn't even make it to the pork belly taco because I was full off the flauta and chorizo taco lol. The hot sauces that they bring to your table in the squirt bottles were bomb dot com!! Spicy enough for some "flava" but not burn your bottle hole spicy. Overall, I highly recommend this establishment for the vibes (I requested they play Bad Bunny and they obliged- zero questions asked and no pushback) and the food! If you're ever having group get together or small party, this place would be great! They also have brunch on the weekends which I will bring some moms back for, for some "Momosa" Dates! Americanos- you may as well give me a special discount code or something, at this point.. you'll never get rid of me!

Service was ok, spotty at bits, but I also attribute it to the place being busy. We had to ask a second time for some missing items. To eat, I got the berry crepes and a side of hash browns with cheese. My friend got the eggs Benedict with a side of pancakes. The crepes were very good, but I preferred the bites without the berry mascarpone filling. The side of pancakes my friend got was huge, this would be plenty as a main. They are very good at accommodating larger parties, but do wait to seat you until your party is all there.

Just like another…read morereviewer, I had high hopes for this place as it had great reviews and the fact that it was near public transit (assuming it gets high foot traffic). We went here after our flight landed in Chicago - instant regret. I ordered the chicken gyro, which, for some odd reason came with a quarter of white onion chunks, a whole Roma tomato, lots of lettuce, and a whole vat of tzatziki sauce. I requested feta, as that is pretty typical in a chicken gyro. I was told it would be an extra cost, to which I agreed. Yet imagine my surprise when I received not one, not two, but three entire sticks of whole feta. Not crumbled on top of my pita like I was expecting. Additionally these three blocks of feta ended up being $5. That's on me. If I had known to check the menu for whole feta sticks, I would have known better. Aside from that, the pita was almost completely inedible, as it was just coated and lathered in the tzatziki sauce. It came to me on a flat pita, completely impossible to pick up. I ended up requesting just a plain side pita to just construct my own. Wayyyy too much stuff wasted on one pita. Cook could have made a whole second pita from the very mid ingredients - would have made it more worth the price and excessive amount of feta. The side pita was reasonably priced. Just like the other hopeful reviewer, our fries were overcooked and practically hollow. Additionally, we each got a "side of fries" and that was practically a BASKET of fries. So...two baskets of too many overcooked fries. Another waste. I wanted to do more than pay and leave, but God did we have a rough flight. Was not expecting to be so disappointed upon stepping into what seems like a "Mom 'n Pop" kinda place. Run the other way so you don't feel guilty about the amount of food you are bound to waste.

The first thing that hits you when you walk in is the smell, and it is coming from the outdated carpet. It is not subtle. It lingers throughout the entire space and makes it hard to fully enjoy the experience or even have much of an appetite. Older carpet is a real issue in restaurants. Over time, it traps dust, food particles, grease from the air, moisture, and bacteria. If it is not regularly deep cleaned or replaced, that buildup starts to break down and creates a heavy, musty odor. It does not stay contained in the carpet either, it rises into the air and essentially fills the entire space. The smell is so strong that it takes away from what would otherwise be a really good dining experience. Updating or properly maintaining the carpet would make an immediate and noticeable difference.
