Our sales specialist Jose Molina was friendly and attentive and very knowledgeable and His brother John Molina who is a Manager at Northstar made Our family even more confident in leasing a car from them. Let me tell you I am not an easy customer to deal with, but the two Brothers were able to workout an amazing lease deal and also offered us free oil change services. We wound up walking out with three vehicles leased. The waiting area had a big screen TV with Netflix,Keurig coffee machine and Three Computers with internet service for waiting customers. They practice bait and switch techniques. They advertised a 2012 Kia with 38,000 miles on their inventory. They reported only Issues with the car was two accidents. Do to the low price and low mileage called two times to get more details about the vehicle. I was ensured that the car is in excellent condition and has only been into two accidents but has been completely repaired. After arriving at the dealership at my schedule time, I was made to wait 45 minutes before being told, Oh that cat has transmission problems, however I have other vehicles. After pointing out that bait and switch is illegal the sales person became indignant. After requesting to speak with the manager he was equally indignant and rude. Sketchy. Kia's website showed them having a very hard to find Telluride. Made an online inquiry over a precise model with window sticker - a silver one. Got a call back from a kid, sounded like the first call he ever made. Off a script. Handed it to the manager "James." James can't do a deal over the phone but encourages me to come in - moving cars etc, will discount, work with Kia finance and take all programs. Can he hold it for me for three hours so I can finish work and make my way to Queens? Well, can't hold it, but if anyone comes in, I'll call you. Whatever. I then read all the stuff on line about people showing up and being told car isn't there etc. I called right before making the trek. Suddenly there's no James that's a manager anymore (the website doesn't list a James). First guy I speak to says no silver model, I try speaking more, but he says phone connection is bad. Next guy calls - well yeah James is out somewhere, won't be able to find him. Oh yeah, there's a silver one - it's in the showroom. But someone's looking at it and I think he's putting a deposit down. Bottom line. By far one of the most worst experiences I have ever had buying a car. First their misleading and false advertising is unbelievable. On top of that they charge a $2500 and $1,500 dealer imposed fees and they list their vehicles' 20% lower and give you a 1 line sentence at the end of a long legal document that price is based on a 20% deposit. This is the reason why no one likes dealing with car dealerships because they always feel they are being taking for a ride (no pun intended). Zero Stars. This is a review for the service dept. only. Many drivers try to avoid going to the dealer for non-warranty service, worried about being oversold or ripped off. That includes me. I've always used a private mechanic. However, since I had a recall notice for my 2015 Kia Optima, I thought I'd also have them look at an extremely minor issue I had - a very faint ticking sound from a front brake. Aside from that, my car runs perfectly and I have it serviced and checked regularly. I figured they would call and say "Ok, you just need xyz to fix that noise, it's going to be $150" Nope. They called back, did NOT say what the ticking sound was, just read off a list of things my car "needed": Front and rear brake pads, new front rotors, smooth rear rotors, clean the EFI, oh,and your oil is dark!" Since I just had the oil changed last month, I was immediately skeptical. So I said forget the oil change, how much is it going to be? Answer $920! plus tax, so over $1000. I politely passed on all these so-called fixes, picked up my car and drove directly to my regular mechanic, who is totally trustworthy and never recommends unnecessary work. He inspected all four brakes, the oil (which he had just changed), and looked for any EFI issues. The result? "Your car is in great shape. The front brakes look near-new. Rear brakes are totally fine. Brakes are 100% safe. If you want to have the front rotors smoothed you can wait until you need brake pads - many thousands of miles later. Oil is clean. No EFI issues." Charge? $0. This is why I and so many drivers avoid the dealership. They either A) Did not look at anything, just lied and made up all these useless repairs, or B) They were wrong about all of them. Which is worse? You tell me. And, they never told me what the ticking noise was. I left a message for the service manager, who did call back and apologize, offering a free oil change. I would say avoid KIA LIC, but I figure it's typical of dealerships around the city. The terrible reputation of dealer service departments lives on. read more

However, they pretty much pressured us to buy same day and they insisted they do not take deposits (to pick up at a later date) since inventory is low. Also, he said it would take an hour to complete the purchase. It took 2.5 hours. Also, we weren't able to purchase accessories/install since the service department was closed for the day. Our salesman grossly understated the cost of labor for accessory installation. We came back a few days later and service cost was 5x more than salesman stated. And that was not the case. I ended up with a invoice a few months later. When I go back to Kia none of the old staff was there. I have finally found a dealership after leasing for 12 years that I will be returning to for many years. I have had some of the worst experiences with getting and renewing my leases, and Scott the sales person along with John the finance manager made me a believer. They listened to my needs, and was able to match the car I wanted with price point. They did not try to use any fancy numbers, and waste any time. I walked in the dealership at 230 and was done trying out by 545. Long story short, he did not verify they would be able to accommodate our lease buyout before he charged my card. We made sure to ask him if he's sure we would be able to get it and if the price was what he said, and he said yes, definitely. Seems like he was in a rush to take your money without doing the leg work. He said we owed $28K on our current lease, which or car is not even worth, so I'm not sure what he was doing. We were not able to get through with the lease at which point he said he could not refund my card because the accounting people left for the day. He said to call back on Monday. When we did he was not working that day. We reached out to him every SINGLE day this week and tried not to get management involved, but he NEVER responded to me OR my wife. We tried calling every day for a refund and the call kept getting transferred over and over again. GO TO ANOTHER KIA DEALERSHIP!!! read more

I made an appointment for a test drive and before even finding out if the car was ready for a test drive he asked me for a credit card?? Not my name or how I'm doing or anything, just straight up 'Give me your license and credit card'. I've been to MANY dealerships and not one has ever asked me for a credit card, so before I even finished asking why he cut me off to say 'so you don't crash my car'...I should have left then but I really wanted to test drive this car so I gave it. He comes back to tell me the car was 'just sold' and I can't test drive it. I asked if I could at least look at it and he said the customer will probably not like that because of the pandemic. So I can't look at it without touching it? And he just took all my information to tell me that?! That was all within 5 minutes of being there. What was more infuriating however was the fact that on my way there. I was texted and asked if I was still coming into see that car 20 minutes before I arrived. I am giving this 2 stars and they should happy. I bought a car path my son I forgot the saleswoman name. She was nice and everything went smooth. We leave with the car. The following day I reviewed the paperwork and I noticed my sons name was spelled wrong his first and last name. Ok I take very little blame. I should of reviewed it the day of. So I go back to the dealer as soon as they open. The finance guy forgot his name younger male was not in as of yet. I speak to a male who was there. I explained the situation to him,he took my information and put it on the finance person desk. He informed me when he gets in he will take care of the matter. I go back the same day but in the afternoon to pick up my paperwork and I was assured the problem was resolved. Push forward to a few days ago. I received the first payment for the vehicle and the name is still wrong. So now my son has to get it changed along with the registration. This is ridiculous this should not happen I know mistakes are made but when they tell you the problem was resolved and it's not. Unacceptable now my son has to deal with this problem that KIA created he has to take off from work go to DMV and call KIA finance so they can put his correct name on the account. I will never recommend this dealer ever again. The finance guy is lazy and just stroked me and told me the problem was resolved. You need to hire better employees who care about the people who are going to buy cars and not just looking to get a check every week. read more

I bought a used 2016 Kia Sorento SX, the right light doesnt even light up when picked up, the SD card for the vehicle is not even right. I want to get schedule a service, they said they are only open from 9am-4pm, I told them my work is 7am-3pm and by the time I get there it will be past 4pm, on Saturdays they close by 1pm which I dont get home until 3pm, how come the other service centers are open until 6pm like the one in New Jersey? CRAPPY SERVICE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS SO BE AWARE!!!! When I get another car next year, definitely its not going to be on this place! not even for a freakin' service, who knows how they passed the NY State inspection when a headlight wasnt checked. read more

Not a great new car experience with this dealership. Bought a new sedona from Northstar Kia from Bryant Lizzardo. They put on wheel locks and lost the key to the wheel locks and also the original lug nuts. They promised they will replace it the next day. I came back to the dealership and got no response the next day. It has been 2 months now and still do not get a straight response from them. I even called Kia headoffice and got an approval for them to provide new lug nuts and wheel locks at no cost to the dealership. Still waiting for the dealership to respond to resolve the issue. Apparently, they do not even respond to the Kia headoffice as they have tried to call the dealership a number of time with me on the line. If you want to have a good new car experience, you may probably want to avoid Northstar Kia. read more

Car salesmen are like lawyers very hard to trust but this place is very trustworthy. We stoped by Kia last month and spoke with Bryant. He showed us just want we wanted and he took his time to answer all questions and explained everything in detail. He was not pushy at all and was honest with us. We took about an hour of his time and left. We decided to go back again to look at the used cars this time and since I felt comfortable with Bryant we asked for him again. He again answered every question didn't push anything on us or rush us even though we were there past business hours. And Bryant really knows his cars old models and new. At the end we purchased a 2017 Santa Fe. Now the finance manger John Molina was very nice, helpful, and was very informative. He gave my boyfriend so much useful information to help him in the future and he made the paper work easy to understand. We were super happy driving out of there in our new car. I was hesitant to write this review, but I had no choice, I am still fuming about their approach. in dealing with with their customers. I am talking about their service department. I had scheduled an oil change appointment. when I purchased my K5GT line the deal with salesman was horrible that at the end they thru 3 free oil change, the first was done with no glitches, last Tuesday Jan 24th I went for the second one, the gentleman who was at the service office started processing the paper all of sudden he said that I need all kind of maintenance on the car that I did not understand any of these and it's going to cost me $399.00 plus labor and taxes, so I declined, he got a little angry and pissed and said If I don't do it I am going to loose my warranty, so I declined again, bear in mind I have 12500 miles on the car. I go sit in the waiting area for my oil change, half an hour after he came back with a mechanic showing me two very dirty air and cabin filter that I needed ASAP., I inquired why those filters are too dirty , he said they did their job, those two looked like someone drove on them for over 200,000 mile , Honestly I felt trapped ,If I say no they have the car in the shop and I can't see what they are going to do so I accepted. when the service was done I was hit for a bill of $198.00 for the two filters that takes 5 minutes to change both, I paid the bill and asked about the two filters that they removed from my car, they said that they thru then away and can't get them. Now I have another cardK5 ex for the same model and the same year with 12000 miles on it I am putting down the last VIN # on both car to show I am not lying 50665/ 29076. I checked the filters on my second KIa they both looked very clean nd does not need to be charged, so my conclusion is they did not change the filters they did it to boost their profit , I have 4 Kia in my life , but I will not buy another again , and for the third free oil change they can keep it , because for the customer to go and get ripped especially when they prey on not very knowledgeable people, please don't fall for these scams read more

What a terrible service shop, went in first time for a Oil Change booked my appointment online, the offer said it was $60 all together got there and it's double the price $120. Second time I go in, my door handles broken, the guy tells me it's under warranty and I sign the paper, 10 minutes later he tells me my car was in an "accident" and the paint was repainted, there was no accident and the paint was never repainted. Even when they checked the CARFAX and see no accidents they claim there was an accident. So any car you bring in her just know they can say "It was in an accident" and void your warranty even if it wasn't. Not only that but when I get home I see they scratched my rear bumper. What a scummy service shop, avoid at all costs they will do anything to void your warranty and get as much money as they can from you. read more

I was seeking a 2019 Kia Sorento and after visiting another Kia Dealer (on Hillside Ave) I decided to visit North star.. best decision ever. We were greeted at the door and our car was valet parked in their service center. We walked into the showroom and were greeted with smiles. We have two small children so we were not looking to spend the day there (we already did our research) so we knew what we were seeking. we were helped by John Molina and Juan Paulino. These guys were nice, honest and very helpful. They understood what we were seeking and were more than happy to help. They were not pushy and took time to help us "understand" all things related to the vehicle, we took a few days after the test drive to think about the purchase and ultimately came running back to purchase the vehicle. The finance process was so easy, I said to John (finance manager) that's it???!! THIS was the BEST CAR experience I've every had... kia has a lifetime customer in me. They are brand new and while they are going through a few kinks that any new business would have which did make the overall process take longer than it should, they are genuine in wanting to make a deal that works for both parties. My dealings with John the sales rep was 5 stars from the time he greeted me till I drove the vehicle out. John is super friendly, honest and will go out of his way to make sure you're having as good of an experience as possible. He is a huge asset to Northstar. Joel the floor manager ended up ensuring I got the color along with the added package I wanted and took the extra step to ensure they got the car for me the next day. John the sales manager tried to keep me as satisfied as a finance manager could do when we crunched the numbers. Purchased a used van from the dealer on June 1st. It is now june 19th. Do not have my vehicle. First they don't have a title, then they don't have the key fobs. Then according to Dodge has been modified because it should not start with just a plain key. Multiple phone calls and emails no response. When I send an email to the GM, asst GM, the finance manager and the sales Lady, I get a call from the GM wanting to know what my problem is. He set my clock to the right time and offered to add in all my telephone numbers....I am a 72 year old with zero tech ability to do that myself. This car dealer ship it unbelievable unprofessional! I wanted to buy a car which North Star listed at Carfax. At the beginning the salesmen not even know that they have the car. After 1 hour on the phone he found it, same day later he send me a video from outside and offered me for the next day an video for the inside. On Friday we agreed via phone that I will buy the car. I send, as requested a picture of my drivers license to prepare the paper work. Finally after I had to recheck again and again I received a call from Joxxxx, to request payment for the car. I informed her that I would like to get an finance offer. I gave her my SSN and send her income verification and agreed on Credit Check. North Star run the credit check on Saturday - which was a hard credit request - and then did nothing! I contacted the salesmen and he let me know, there are very busy but he got me. I offered to pay 500-1,000 down to secure the car. He promised me that we will close the deal on Sunday. But again nothing happened! Not even responded to my call anymore. On Monday morning to my surprise they run another hard credit check on me - without my consent. I called the salesmen Olxxxxxx and asked what's going on? Are we getting this finally done? And then to my surprise he I formed me that the car was sold over the weekend, which he didn't mentioned to me on Saturday or Sunday, or when I offered to secure the car with a small down payment. This car dealership wasted my time, cost me 2 hard inquires on my credit report and another good car deal - which I turned down - because I believed the salesmen who told me "I got you covered". And when I tried to reach out to the owner or the operation manager, the staff got an attitude with me and asked me "what you want" and "what's my problem"? Don't waste your time or credit score; don't risk headaches. I would stay away from this car dealer / car dealer group. read more
