I asked these two guys if I could take a picture of them before they left. I told them I wanted to review their performance on Yelp. But not only about their performance but their unforgettable sweet demeanor after discovering I live on the third floor and there's no elevator. You see, these smiling faces work for NorthStar Moving Company, and we all know the employees are the one that makes the company. David and his coworker/friend could have rushed up 38 stairs to quickly unload my things because they were heavy, but nope, they took their time coming upstairs to make sure nothing got damaged. Now mind you, they could have rushed because the NorthStar guys in San Jose, Ca, wrapped my things so securely nothing could have gotten broken. And David, here in Texas, encouraged me to count my boxes as they brought them inside my place to make sure all my things had made it! Another great thing about Northstar is, it only took 7 days for my things to arrive, the pick-up was Monday from California, and the delivery date was Sunday in Houston, Texas. I have to give so much praise to Lorena, I booked this move in March, but it wasn't going to be until May. She stayed in contact with me every step of the way. I was giving stuff away in those two months, and Lorena would change my quote without any problem. Another thing Lorena did, she gave me information about a reliable car service to have my car transported to Texas, and that was quick too. My car was picked up on Friday from California and delivered on Tuesday in Houston! I will always use NorthStar, and I do have another big move coming again. read more

Rob and the North Star Moving team just left my home with all my belongings and they were simply EXCEPTIONAL in every way. They were on time (early even), their communication was outstanding, and they expertly packed my belongings with great care. These were not college kids working a side hustle. They were PROFESSIONAL MOVERS and I see the difference now that I watched them in action. I recently used another local moving service. They forgot items, broke my tabletop, and at the end of the move, shoved an iPad in my face which prompted me to tip them 15, 20, or 25%. I had already given them $50 each and then got hit to tip them on the total cost of the move. There was NONE of that with Northstar. Four guys showed up, worked VERY HARD, and then left with no expectation of a tip. They also left my house spotless. The TL;DR: we hired NorthStar for a cross-country move + storage and they were exceptionally responsive and professional across the board. I 100% recommend them. The folks don't mess around! I investigated 4 other full service movers for our Austin-to-NC move and no one came close in customer service or price -- and that's just during the sales call. When the move day came, the whole team rolled in with infectious good spirits and did a fantastic job wrapping our furniture and packing the truck. Though our goods were loaded into a truck, then into storage, and then into another truck again -- and we were nervous about that -- nothing was lost or damaged. My expectations were that *something* would go wrong. And all that happened was that some terrible weather pushed our delivery date 1 day past our window. We chose this company to move us from Austin to the Dallas area. They arrived on time for both the loading and unloading, and were pleasant and easy to deal with. When we unpacked at the new residence, we did notice several issues. However, in spite of the fact that their contract excluded many of those issues , they went out of their way to reach out to us to try to help. First they zoom called with me to get the initial estimate communication was perfect when I had more items packed I let them know and we adjusted the estimate ...day of pick up items were moved so fast wrapped amazingly great group of hardworking men that picked up . Upon delivery 2 weeks later (due to holidays ) I had another amazing group of hardworking men move items into the house unpack furniture and set it up. The process was stress free ! I will never move myself again ! I will always have North Star handle it ! A+ on every part of the service they provided ! I maybe spend 600 more in having them move it for me than a uhaul but that's not even estimating the back pain moving things up and down stairs, gas prices for the uhaul or driving a uhaul I am not use to driving so for us it was worth every penny ! They helped provide us a quote, schedule a packing day, move-out and move-in all within a few short weeks. I booked this company for a move here in Austin, Texas. When they arrived I met them outside and let them know I would move out 2 vehicles off the street to accommodate their large moving truck. When I came back outside it turned out instead of waiting the driver had hit our truck. They smashed in the driver side door making it impossible to close the door and drive the vehicle. When I spoke to their local manager he was very rude and kept saying " well, we did complete your move". The company refused to give me their insurance which is a violation of Texas law. Almost 3 months later our truck has not been fixed. Their COO Wendy Fitzgerald has refused to pay for the repairs which were quoted at $3300 by Toyota. She has demanded multiple quotes (illegal in Texas) which we got all being around the same price. So we've been out a second car all this time and the company has been extremely abusive towards us over this time. I would not risk using this company. read more

David came out for an in house estimate. He was very courteous, respectful and patient while going through my Mom's house in order to give us a thorough estimate. David was very professional but personable too. We felt comfortable with him and felt like him and NorthStar were very trustworthy. I liked that they do a flat price estimate and we felt it was very fair. We ended up deleting some items and adding other items to the inventory but the price didn't change. We received timely communication and confirmations from NorthStar. David called us on moving day to let us know the ETA and they arrived on time. They were careful and efficient in wrapping up the items. With great organizational skills, they managed to load up my Mom's house along with her many plants and pots in the truck so that we only had to make one trip. Other companies that gave me estimates told me it would take two trips. They were comical at times but always working hard.
