Exterior signage on the building is not the best, so it can be a challenge to find the right service entrance upon arrival - there are other Northtown vehicle dealerships sharing the same parking lot and there is more than one service location, for different brands. Staff were friendly. The waiting area is comfortable and has a charging station for phones etc, free coffee and cookies, a vending machine with snacks, a tv (wish the remote had been available to change it from news though, would love to see sports on there!), and I saw coloring books and crayons too so kids can be occupied. It's four stars instead of five for two reasons - one, they misplaced my keys and it took an unreasonably long time to find them, and the second vehicle also took a longer time to pick up than I think it should have. Two, although they send video walkthroughs of several things on the vehicle (tire tread, etc), there is no description either in the video or in the paperwork of exactly what the video is showing or what things mean. Obviously green is good, red is bad, but... are those brake pads (my assumption) or something else? How long does it take to go from yellow to red on the little test things? I'd love more discussion or a flyer so I can understand what is being shared.

I purchased the extended service contract with the car, about 2 months later the Right Wheel sensor for the ABS & Traction control went bad, it took 2 weeks for them to get the part, and when I left there the warning lights were still on. I was told by their service advisor that he'd look into it and 2 to 3 months later I was told to take it to North Town Kia to have them look into it. Today I get a call asking if I was satisfied with the service, hell NO, and that the NEW service coordinator would give me a call back in about 10 minutes about the issue after he looked into the it, well it's been a hour & a half, I've got to get ready to go into work, my call back to him went to VM, and he still hasn't called me back!!! My father-in-law was at the dealership this afternoon for a few hours and had many questions about financing and the loan process in general. We were on the phone with him to help guide him through everything. He was repeatedly apologetic because he knew he was asking a lot of questions, and the sales representatives were patient and respectful with him. However, toward the end of the transaction--right before finalizing--the finance manager, Jim Kelley, made a highly inappropriate comment. As he was leaving the office, he said, "these fucking people," referring to my father-in-law and possibly to us on the phone with him. This comment was completely disrespectful, felt racially charged, and came entirely out of left field. After hearing this, we no longer felt comfortable giving this dealership our business. My husband asked my father-in-law to request his keys, ID, and registration back and leave. If you choose to go here, be aware of this extremely disrespectful behavior from the finance manager.

They used excuse after excuse, would not admit fault, and were just rude on the phone (that is after multiple calls not returned). When we took it in and ended up having to pay for a new battery, the car was returned with a plastic cover part of the new battery still hitting under the windshield wiper (I took pics) and when I looked at the battery I noticed the coolant is low. Isn't that something a car place would notice if a non car person does immediately? Hmm so much for your 80 some point inspection you claim you did before we bought the car if you do these now after. Stay away, such bad business practices. They do not stand behind what they sell, do not call customers back, and do not do quality work.

We bought a headlight for our Nissan Titan from Nissan's official parts website for over $1,300,…read moreand it was sent to Mike Barney Nissan for fulfillment. After my husband removed the old headlight, he found that one of the clips on the new one was already broken out of the box. Since the old light was already out, he superglued the clip just so he could finish the installation. When he finished installing the new light and turned it on, he saw fingerprints sealed inside the lens that couldn't be cleaned because they were under the plastic cover. He drove to the dealership to show them the problem, but the parts manager, Mark DeAngelo, wouldn't even look at it. He said the only option was to exchange it and complained that he didn't understand why their dealership was handling Nissan's online orders, which made it clear he didn't want to deal with the issue. When I called, he said he didn't know what we wanted and told me we shouldn't expect any credit since we "got a good deal" on the part. His only offer was to have someone drive another headlight to our house, but that still meant my husband would have to uninstall and reinstall the entire headlight again, a job that takes several hours and risks damaging the truck. Later, they even said they "weren't going to do the labor for free," even though we never asked them to, we were explaining that reinstalling it ourselves would take hours and leaving the truck there wasn't an option. When I asked for his boss's name and phone number, he refused to give it at first and made me go back and forth with him for several minutes before finally providing it. I emailed the general manager, Jerome Masters, but the parts manager's boss, Adam DiFelice, responded instead. He said the fingerprints were caused by my husband, which is impossible because they're inside the sealed lens. He also repeated that an exchange was the only option. The general manager never replied. The way this dealership handled everything was unprofessional and dismissive from the start. Instead of trying to help or find a reasonable solution, they just kept pointing to the warranty and repeating the same answer. The clip came broken and the fingerprints were clear manufacturer defects, not our fault, and we felt it was completely reasonable to ask for a partial credit since reinstalling wasn't a fair or practical solution. If Nissan is going to make it so the entire headlight unit has to be replaced and charge over $1,300 for the part, they should at least make sure the part is free from defects before sending it out. I would not recommend using Mike Barney Nissan for parts or service, they clearly don't stand by what they sell or care about helping their customers.

But if you are reading this review answer this question - "Luke S" responds to most of these negative reviews with "thanks for the feedback, sorry to hear about your experience" yet they have more negative feedback with the same issue...customer service. He has not changed the CULTURE at this dealership that either tolerates or encourages such crass, disrespect to their own customers! I read it in the reviews, and experienced it twice myself at this dealership service department. You know, Luke, it costs the dealership on average about $4,000 to obtain a customer, and minutes to lose one. And one turns into a hundred, then a thousand. That's how you go out of business. The simplest way to get and keep them? Provide OUTSTANDING customer service - not just cookies and coffee - but customer service that helps solve the problem instead of handing over a story and a bill. I don't know why this seems beyond their ABILITY to deliver!!! I can tell you I have been to numerous VW dealerships in the area and across the country and Northtown is not the standard, they are the exception (not in a good way). Most VW dealerships have paired down but their service departments continue to deliver great customer service, just for being a loyal VW customer. This is the dealerships revenue driver!!! The fact that this one honestly does not seem to care what any of us think enough to DO anything about the continuous, single complaint of poor customer service...is astounding. So my story, I have an issue with my car based on recent heavy rains and the documented history, and lawsuit settlement over VW sunroof leaks. Their internal technical bulletin was sent by VW corporate to to all the dealerships within their own VW communications system with the dealerships. Yet Northtown insisted they had no idea what I was talking about, or any experience with it (in 7 years?) and could not help me resolve it other than to do some testing, look at the drainage system, check all the areas covered by the issue (ironic?) then charge me $259.00 to clean the tubes. And give me a detailed bill that now I have to take to VW and get the claim approved and repairs carried out. Northtown didn't know about this technical bulletin, or lawsuit yet they knew enough to say that VW recommends cleaning out these tubes every 20,000 miles as routine maintenance! Since when?? Likely subsequent to the lawsuit but that doesn't change anything for me because it has never been part of or recommended during the routine maintenance and there was nothing issued to the owners. Looking at my service records they had to admit it was never recommended to me. BTW the fee they charged me is covered under the settlement that I am a part of and I am taking all of this up with VW directly. Don't waste your time asking this dealership to help you because they really don't care about you, the customer or making sure you are pleased with their service. If they did, "Luke" would have made changes already and obviously has not. In fact, the first person that greets you at service is a man with a clipboard with all the charm of steel wool. Only he is allowed to speak to the service rep instead of letting you speak for yourself. I tried to speak to them directly and they made me wait while they discussed whether I could talk to the service person directly! I guess they need to get the internal story straight before they try to gaslight their customers. BTW their internal records had the wrong address for me, one I never lived at, As for the technical bulletin and information, it had to be taken to a 'back office' where some oracle decided they could diagnose the problem and give me a detailed quote I could take up with VW directly, the problem they supposedly know nothing about. They also tried coloring the problem as a lack of recommended routine maintenance by saying that "VW recommends customers have the tubes cleaned out every 20,000 miles ". For something no one knows about? Of course I was on to that bit of chicanery. Claim I didn't do the recommended maintenance so I am stuck. But the fact is in 2019 VW sold me this car knowing about that defect which is why they were successfully sued and now must cover the cost of my repairs, and the diagnostics. AND unlike Northtown, I was able to find out that this repair and diagnostic is covered until February 2027 or 80,000 miles whichever comes first. I will get this resolved, but I will NEVER take my care back to Northtown ever again and will encourage no one to do so either. Especially if you have any warranty, recall or lawsuit settlement repairs.
