I love my Subaru, the commercials are not lying when they say they will make you a fan. I found this dealership after we moved to Clarence. I believe this is the closest one to me. When we bought my car, we bought a maintenance package with it so all of it's work it needs done over the next couple of years is already covered. I've brought my car here twice so far and they have done a good job of getting me in when I needed it. I can't comment to the prices here because I've had to pay for very little since I already have the maintenance package. The other day I got my car inspected here and it was only $10. Not sure if that's the regular price of if I got a special one because of my maintenance package thingie. One complaint about this dealership is their lack of a kid friendly place for your kids to play. They have a couple of really old, dirty looking toys stashed off to the side but nothing that will interest a small child. The old dealership I went to in Kirkland, WA had a kid ROOM, it was enclosed and full of nice toys to keep your child busy. Oh, I miss that room. One of my visits here I spent over an hour literally chasing after my toddler because there was no toys for him and the place has an open design. So, be warned: do not bring your small kids here. Get a sitter or try to bribe the other parent in to watching them or else you will spend some miserable time here. Also, this dealership is kinda dirty. It just looks like it needs either a renovation or a deep cleaning. But on the plus the people who work here are all really nice and pleasant and seem like they want you to leave happy. read more

Congrats Northtown Subaru. You lost what would have been a very easy cash transaction! Oh, and that same car is still sitting on the lot 3 weeks later :) At the end of the day, I ended up at a Subaru Dealership in Victor, NY, and ended up saving over $1,700. But the folks @ West Herr down in Orchard Park are way, way, way better than these idiots (sadly West-Herr just didn't have what I wanted). First of all, I needed a car pronto, and was willing to make a deal with Satan himself (aka Northtown) to get a replacement as soon as possible. And because Northtown had one car on the lot in the model, trim, and colour I wanted, I was even willing to enter into an inevitable Faustian sales deal with these scumbags. I knew from my own experiences and from relatives' experiences that their Subaru service center is useless and pointless, but I assumed Sales would be a different story. Besides, I didn't have to have my car serviced @ Northtown, I fully planned on taking it to West-Herr for service, I just wanted to get my hands on a car. I showed up into their showroom on a Tuesday around 12pm. No one greeted me, looked at me, or even made eye contact with me. Well, I climbed in and out of one of the cars in the showroom to try to get someone's attention that I WANT TO BUY A CAR. No one moved. No one came out of their cubicles. After about 20'minutes of this, I realised this wasn't going anywhere. So while standing in their showroom, I called their sales line and I was immediately connected and said to the dude "well, I'm standing here in your showroom, and no one seems really interested in helping me here". The guy apologised and came right over. I told him the exact car I wanted; even had the screenshot with the VIN from their website. He then spent 15 minutes paging through an inventory catalog to make sure it wasn't sold yet (really?? What year is this? Have you not been introduced to a computer??), he grabbed the keys and handed me off to another sales guy to do a test drive. I had a couple of questions during the test drive, and freakishly, the sales rep couldn't answer any of them including really basic questions ("What's X-Mode"?). Annoying, but, that's what a manual is for, and I really needed a car. He also tried telling me that CVT is no different than older generation Transmissions. Uhhh, no. So the MSRP on the car was something like 29,500. This was to be a cash transaction. I was right then and there willing and able to pay 29,000 for the car plus an extended Subaru warranty. I would have written a check and they would have made a sale that day. Their response: "Well, why should I give you any discount? It's the only one on the lot and someone else will come along and buy it probably today, and they'll pay full MSRP". I told them I'd go to another dealership. Well, for the next week they called my phone 3x a day, until finally I told them "I bought the car at another dealership, please STOP calling this number" to which the guy replied "oh, you were SERIOUS about going to another dealer?!" No, I just say these things for giggles. Calling my cell repeatedly got you the creeper award considering I never gave it to you guys, you just took it off the caller ID. Avoid the stupid. Turned in my leased Subaru Forester. Was told there would be "no extra charges" when we turned it in. The salesman who was selling us our new Forester told us several times that there wouldn't be any additional fees when turning in our lease. It was a 42 month lease. We put 24,000 miles on the odometer in that time period. Received a bill in the mail that included a $300 turn in fee, and an excess mileage charge of $1,624. read more

I went here a month ago after a car accident and had a terrible experience. We were the only customers on the sales floor and stood there for about 10 minutes before someone came over to us to see if we needed help to FIND a sales person. There were about 10 employees we could see in a break room having coffee and checking their phones throughout this. When the sales person came over they didn't introduce themselves too us and were very dismissive in showing us things. The guy didn't have an idea of what was in stock and after walking outside in the cold for another 10 minutes trying to see if they had an impreza in stock walked back in and we waited for another 10 minutes before going back in to try to find out what happened to our sales person. His manager or another sales person (who knows???) found him and he took us on a test drive but was very short with us and didn't know the answers to our questions about the car. Just a horrible experience overall and we ended up buying from Kitty Van Bortel Subaru in Rochester instead which I highly recommend to anyone looking for a Subaru. I would not recommend anyone going to northtowns or even calling because they take your number off the caller ID and harass you afterwards. When he arrived to the dealership , Brian and Jessie the sales managers told him that he is NOT allowed to test drive the car that he wanted ( Subaru WRX - CVT ) because it is a " sport car " . They said that he will be able to drive the car AFTER he will sign the lease agreement , GREAT UB student , be AWARE , you are NOT eligible to TEST DRIVE a Subaru WRX at this dealership .Don't waste your time . I was alerted by Subaru there was an airbag recall, called Northtown and scheduled an appt to bring it in the following weekend. Dropped it off, then picked it up a few hours later after the bag was replaced. Driving home I notice the audio speakers are cutting out. Figured it must be the station so I continued on and changed the station. It continues and get worse. Called Northtown, they said the technician must've knocked loose a connection and to bring it back in. I get a call a few hrs later to pick up my car, it's been fixed. I go back to Northtown, I'm told to please wait while they find the customer service rep I had been dealing with about 20 mins later he emerges. He explains that the audio connections were put in all wrong and they did their best to 'plug' them in tight. I tell them the only audio work I had done was to put Bluetooth in. He says that must be it and that those folks didn't know what they were doing. I tell him the Bluetooth was put in by Northtown. He doesn't say much more. Speakers still don't work properly, so I mostly whistle show tunes while I drive to entertain myself. read more

They called a few hours later with suggestions & a list of things they'd done under warranty. After the price we were given for the work, my husband found it a little cheaper somewhere else & they gave us a discount! The concierge picked me up at the end of the day & them even washed my car. I'm filing this review for Northtown Subaru, because the website required me to choose a location. As you'll read, it actually applies to several dealerships. I know Northtown is big and has many dealerships, but from my recent experiences, it's tough to imagine how they ever sell any cars. Here's my story: I have a Lincoln crossover lease that's ending mid October. I've been shopping to see if there are alternatives that I'd prefer. The Lincoln was very good for me, but I was looking for a change (and, maybe, an opportunity to save on my monthly payments). For the past month, I've been test driving vehicles to learn what my options are and to narrow down my list of possibilities. Toward that end, I visited dealerships from West Herr, Transitowne and Northtown. Without a doubt, the least positive experiences were Northtown's... Here's why: Since this review is being placed in the Subaru section, I'll start with them, even though, that was my most recent visit. I was considering the new 2019 Ascent. It seems to have excellent technology and a luxurious interior. It's probably slightly larger than the crossovers I've been considering (this is a true 7-passenger SUV), but there was much to like. I've been waiting for the specific 2019 model I've been considering (the most expensive version) to arrive at Northtown's showroom. When we saw that it arrived, we called to schedule a test drive. We called and asked it were available for a test drive and when we could come in. The person on the phone (I'm trying not to mention names), told us to be there around 6:30pm and told us who to ask for. He said that they actually had two of the model I was looking for and that he'd have them pulled in front so that we could drive one, when we arrived. Sounds good, huh? When we arrived 6:30pm, we were told that the person we were supposed to ask for was already gone for the night. They'd find another salesperson to help us. We wandered around the showroom for 15 minutes, until a salesperson finally came out and introduced himself. When we told him the story and what we were looking for, he said he didn't think they had ANY in stock... but he'd check. As it turned out, they did have one. He'd bring it around for us to drive. Another wait. Then, he came back to tell us that the vehicle hadn't been "prepped". None of the technology would work (radio, navigation, display screen, head-up display, etc.), if we drove it. I declined. What a waste of a night. We could have come in anytime. It was THEIR suggestion to come in, when we did. Even though I couldn't drive it, I liked the vehicle. The salesperson told us that he'd have it "prepped" and ready, in the next day or so, so that we could drive it. He'd call us as soon as it was ready. That was a week ago. I've received no contact from Northtown Subaru. I guess they don't want to sell me this $46,000 car. Oh well. That doesn't sound good, but it's not much worse than my other two Northtown test drives. We visited Northtown Huyndai ~ a month ago to drive the new 2019 Santa Fe Ultimate 2.0T. The salesperson was nice enough and we did the drive. I really liked this vehicle (loaded with technology; a little less luxurious than Lincoln, but close). Even though I'm not planning on leasing, until the end of September or beginning of October, I wanted to know what the lease would cost, based on today's pricing (this car has a MUCH lower cost than the others I've been considering, so I wanted to see how much lower the lease cost would be). Since it was after dinner, he asked if it would be ok to get us the price in the morning. Sure... no problem. Yeah, you guessed it, we didn't hear anything until we sent a follow-up e-mail asking for the price. Then, what we got back was an approximate "range." I don't make purchases based on an approximate range. I had to go to another dealership to get a real price on the same car. Then, there was Northtown Lexus. Because it's the end of the model year, I hoped there would be a good deal on an RX350 or RX450 hybrid. Wow! As soon as I entered the dealership, I was greeted by the receptionist. I told her why I was there and she couldn't have been nicer. She told me a salesperson would be with me in just a minute. Sure enough, a terrific salesperson introduced himself to me, and talked about the vehicles, and arranged for an immediate test drive. We had a good drive and the vehicle was quite good. Afterwards, we went back to his desk and we determined that I'd have to choose a 2018 model to be able to be within my price range. He told me to go to the website and "build" the car I wanted, with my chosen features. I did it, that afternoon (for both the RX350 and RX450h) and e-mailed them to the sales person. Within a day, he wrote back "Both vehicles that you built shouldn't be too crazy getting them here, I will get with my manager and see which one would be more accessible." Sounds good, huh? So I am writing this review after being a customer here for almost 4 years now. I purchased a Subaru Forrester at this location and that experience was actually a good one, 4 years ago. This review however is based upon the service department. I regularly go back to the dealer for oil changes and inspections. I am giving this 2 star review for 3 reasons. 1. The prices are ridiculous (which I only figured out recently due to conferring with a friend who takes his vehicle to another dealer for the same work). 2. They have an automated system set up to schedule appointments for you. So basically as soon as I leave from my oil change, I get an email with "my next appointment" already scheduled 6 months away. No one ever asks me for my availability, it is all automated. And I have to waste my own time canceling said appointment. I have asked them to take me off whatever system it is, yet I still receive these automated appointments and have to call them again. 3. Fox News is always on both TVs in the waiting room. First of all, it is a SUBARU dealer. Second, just put on the weather channel, HGTV, or the cooking channel so you aren't further agitating people who are already wasting hours of their lives waiting for an oil change that should take 30 minutes. read more

I would like to recommend Northtown Subaru and in particular, Sales Consultant, Ben Fisher, if you are interested in a Subaru. My husband and I have been buying cars for many years and this particular experience was the easiest and most pleasant. Ben is extremely knowledgeable and could not have been more helpful, kind and polite. This dealership obviously puts emphasis on customer service but dealing with Ben was was a large step above average service. Ben's professional manner and friendly attitude were completely genuine and made us feel very comfortable. There was absolutely no pressure, only the feeling that he wanted to be of help and that he truly wanted us to be happy customers, which we are! Was not pleased with recent service at Northtown Subaru. Our brand new 2016 Forester was supposed to have a remote starter installed when we came to pick it up from the dealer. They forgot to have it installed, so we said "no big deal" and said we would bring it back in a couple of days. We scheduled an appointment for the following Thursday at 9AM. We brought the Forester in at 9AM sharp, but did not get it back until the following Monday morning. A routine installation left us without our vehicle for over 4 days. While they offered a replacement vehicle, that we ended up getting later that day, we didn't realize how long the installation would take and left our stroller in the back of our Forester. We didn't anticipate that they would have our vehicle for so many days, and they made no indication that this would be the case. Additionally, we were told that there was a problem and they were having trouble installing the Subaru brand remote starter on the brand new 2016 Subaru vehicle. To say the least, it made me question our recent purchase. Regardless, we were not informed of this issue until we called to follow-up with them for a second time at 4:45PM on Thursday. Friday came and went, nothing. Saturday came and went, nothing. Sunday came, and we didn't hear from them until the evening. Finally, Monday morning we were able to pick up our vehicle. My husband suspects that they tried to squeeze us in due to their error in not having it installed when we picked it up. Then, they most likely ran out of time... who knows. I will never know for sure. Needless to say, I am NOT a fan of the Nothrtown Subaru Service Center. However, I do LOVE my Subaru Forester. It is a great vehicle despite the poor service that comes with it. read more

TERRIBLE service at Northtown Subaru. I asked for an OIL CHANGE. Expect to pay $69 for an OIL CHANGE. I asked for nothing extra and nothing else but an oil change on the vehicle. Charging close to $70, when other dealers/mechanics in the area charge $30-$40 for an oil change, is normal?? Also, in the past before buying this vehicle, I went twice to this location at the Northtown Subaru in Amherst to look at vehicles. BOTH times were TERRIBLE with the salespeople. I chose to purchase my Subaru from West Herr in the Southtowns. I highly recommend West Herr and when mentioning our bad experience to them, they also heard negative comments from other customers about the Northtown Subaru in Amherst. If you would like to pay $70 for an oil change as well as deal with poor customer service, then I would visit Northtown Subaru!! read more

I have now been through a year of negative experiences with Northtown Subaru. It started the day I leased my 2017 Impreza. I should have run for the hill then but foolishly decided not too. I went into the dealership around the time my leased Chevy Cruz was coming to an end. The salesperson Jeffrey Kreuz asked what I was looking for. I sid I was interested in a 5 door Impreza but specifically need a car with all wheel drive, a functioning blue tooth with Android Auto and a factory installed remote start. Jeffrey talked me into accepting a car with a post factory installed remote start despite problems I have had with post installs in the past. All the paperwork was signed and my down payment accepted and when handed the keys I was told this car had no remote start at all but one could be installed for an additional $369. Within the first few days I started encountering problems with the blue tooth connection and the Android Auto App. I came in several times to try and correct this and worked with several members of their Smart Car staff. They determined the problem was with my Samsung Galaxy phone, so I went to Verizon and used my warranty to get a new phone. This second Samsung Galaxy experienced all the same problems. After several more visits to the smart car department nothing was resolved. Since I rely heavily on a bluetooth connection for my work I purchased a brand new Google Pixel for nearly $900. The Pixel also has experience connection issues, contact download issues, disconnect issues for the last 9 month despite several more visits and software upgrades. The car has other strange issues. The front passenger seat belt alarm goes off for no reason, so I drive around with the seat belt snapped shut to prevent this. The gas gauge often goes from full to 3/4 or 1/2 tank in the blink of an eye. The thermometer usually tells me it 91 degrees out even in winter. After parking the car and exiting, the other car doors and hatchback remain locked or they unlock depending on their mood. No one seems to have any answers to any of this. When I leased the car I was convinced to have the Zurich System cover the car, it apparently helps to keep the car clean and help with minor scratches etc... The first time I used the Paint Sealer Renewer the grittiness of the product left scratched along the entire right side of my car. I spent nearly $200 to have them buffed out. Today I had a 2 pm appointment to have the issued looked at again. Was told that the shuttle would be back in about 15 minutes and they could give me a ride home. After an hour of sitting in the lounge I asked if the shuttle was taking me home or was the issue getting resolved faster than expected and should I wait. It turned out I had simply been forgotten. I asked how much longer it was going to be and was told the car probably wouldn't even be looked at till around 5 pm making me wonder what the point of a 2 pm appointment was. Since I needed my car to get to work by 6 I opted to take my car and reschedule my appointment for the following week. I figured I could borrow a friends car for the day while mine was at the dealership. I started to pull away but decided to stop and inquire with management what could be done. Was there a way to terminate the lease on a car that has so many quirks and concerns. The gentleman I spoke to listened to my concerns and then asked if I had been offered a loaner car, which I had not. He left me waiting again and return to offer me a loaner car if I wanted to pull my car back around to service. I was so infuriated by this point that I decided to leave instead of losing my temper and creating a scene. I have waited a while to get a Subaru, a brand I have heard such great thing about. However, after my experience with the car and with Northtown Subaru I regret the day I walked in and signed for that lease, and I will be stuck with this car for another 2 1/2 years. 2020 can't come soon enough. Recently I took my parents to Northtown Subaru to inquire about purchasing a new Subaru Forester. We had decided on the car and were ready to make a deal that day, we just weren't sure what trim level we wanted. We had a terrible experience with our salesman Mike Stepien. Despite the fact that he claimed to be selling Subarus since 1995, he lacked knowledge about the product and couldn't directly answer questions. He was working with other customers, and we said we would come back when he wasn't as busy. He said he was almost done with the customers and would be with us shortly. After returning from the test drive, we waited a half hour for him to return. We left, and he came running out to the parking lot, blocking the car, so we agreed to come back in. He disappeared again for another 45 minutes, so I took a walk back to his cubicle to see what was going on. He was with the previous customers who he said he was done with. At no point did he attempt to arrange another time to come back or direct us to another salesman. Because of this blatant lie, we decided that there was no point in continuing negotiations. This is when the theatrics started, he bellowed across the sales floor "you need to work with me!" By now we left, went to another dealer (it was now 4pm) and made a deal with them for a new Forester. Northtown basically threw away an easy sale. Never going back. read more

I took my outback in for a recall two weeks ago and decided to also get an inspection while I was there. I dropped it off at 9am on Tuesday and was told it would be done by dinner. I recieved a call at 8pm saying the car had still not been in to be worked on, which I said was fine but I NEEDED to have the car back by 10am the following day. I woke up to a phone call around 8am saying that they had done the inspection and that they had found something wrong, I told them to go ahead and fix it and was told that it should be done by 10am. 10am rolls around and no phone call, 11am no call and so on. Finally, I receive a phone call at 2:30pm. Which again, wasn't the end of the world, I accepted it and was just thankful to have my car back. Not even a week after getting my car back, I was driving at about 30mph when I heard something bumping around underneath the drivers seat, causing the car to shake slightly and was very very loud. The car was in such bad shape that I didn't feel safe driving it and decided to have it towed to Subaru. I had a feeling it had to have been something Subaru had done, seeing as they had just done work on the lower front bushings (charging an obscene amount I may mention, which I should have expected from a dealer). Long story short, it turns out the front wheel was not put back on properly after they had worked on it and that's what was banging around. Lovely! They acknowledged this mistake, and fixed the wheel for free. This did not give me back the time I lost out of my day in the middle of finals week, an already very stressful time as a student, but it was something nontheless. After getting my car back for the second time it seemed to be driving just fine until I got on the highway and went above 50mph-- when it started shaking. I'm assuming the wheels are unbalanced, I'm no car expert but seeing as there was no problem before when I drove over 50mph, I'm going to assume this was yet another one of the mistakes this dealer made. I have been to my Subaru dealer back home and never had any issues, but this dealer was truly awful. I will not be back. read more

Ran into car trouble on the thruway. Got a tow to the dealership. Fixed my tire/wheel issues within an hour, wrote up a receipt to give to the company who did my oil change so hopefully they can pay for it. Washed my car and gave the inside a quick clean too. Really appreciated it. Very quick service all around. read more
