Northtown Subaru replaced my front passenger headlight bulb in May 2019. This week it suddenly burned out again - 6 months later! I called and explained what happened and they told me they couldn't take me for another 4 days - and even then, I would have to leave it and take a shuttle home - for a light bulb! Even after I told them I bought my car there. Since it is dark when I leave for work and come home from work, I didn't want a ticket, so I went to Premier Car Care and they replaced the bulb in literally minutes! They said it burned out because Northtown had failed to replace the plastic cover and moisture got in. I called Northtown again to report the issue and spoke with one of the service managers, "EJ" who told me to bring it in and they would take a look. I brought it in and waited almost an hour - only for him to come and tell me my model does not have plastic covers (shouldn't he have known that without me having to haul me and my car in?) so the other place was wrong. He never offered to pay all or even any part of the bill ($56.00) for the repair that in my opinion, should not have been required had they installed a good bulb back in May. In fact, this was the second bad incident with them - about a year or so ago, they changed my oil and forgot to put the cap back on and I had to go back because my car was leaking oil! The whole ordeal left me angry and upset and out $56.00 for no apparently good reason. Northtown Subaru customer service is pretty awful! read more

Purchased a car on Sunday, 11/26/2017. Tim was great at his job and was very thorough and quick at getting the job done. The detail job on the car was less than spectacular. Still had adhesive on passenger side rear door, dash was not cleaned and was splotchy, some other minor things as well. Overall was a good experience and as I did pick it up on a Sunday, I expect the detail job on delivery to be the best car should be. read more

I'm very disappointed with my visit to buy a new Subaru. The sales person Mike Stepien seemed like I was bothering him to show me the car I wanted. The very sad part for the dealership is that I was ready to purchase on the spot because I'd done my research, but he didn't offer to open any of the doors for me to see inside or even bothered to tell me about the vehicle options, etc. If I didn't ask a question, he provided no information. I felt as if I was begging him to spend my money. This could have been an awesome experience because I was excited to make this purchase but now it's been a disappointment. I'll have to get my new Subaru elsewhere. read more

They tried to sell me a $1,000 brake job telling me they'll brakes needed "immediate attention". I refused the service and took my car somewhere else where I was told I had 50-60% left on my brakes. Very disappointed but thought I would give them another try. Service the next time was horrible. Dropped my car off in the morning to be picked up by the shuttle after work at 5:00. I had heard nothing all day so I called at 4:00 to check the status. The person who answered the phone told me that my car wasn't done. When I said "I'll still be picked up at 5:00, right?" She said no - the shuttle wouldn't be ordered until my car was done! Then they charged me $25 for the tire rotation which was supposed to be free. When I dropped my car off I told the service dept about the unnecessary brake job issue (with proof jn hand) and was offed nothing but a lame apology - no discount on my services that day. Not even a complimentary detail. Unfortunately I bought my tires there so, if I want the free rotations, I need to continue to go there. The ONLY reason I will continue to go there. read more

I purchased my car from this dealership in July. I was authorized a free oil change along with the purchase. However, when I called to schedule the oil change they had no record of me at all. When I asked what they had available I was told they are completely booked and the only time frame they had left was on Friday at 5:45p. My thoughts are that they just don't care about servicing you after you purchase their products. I will get my "free" oil change but I will never go back there again and I will never purchase another automobile from them. read more

I hate taking our car to Northtown Subaru on Sheridan Drive in Amherst - it is sooooo frustrating! After you have left they automatically schedule another appointment for you! I have better things to do with my time than call Subaru to cancel appointments I didn't make!!! I even have a "do not schedule" note in my account, and yet they still do it. Over the past two years I have spoken directly to two different service managers (Mike and Kevin), and both have "assured" me every time it happens that they had taken steps to make sure that it would never happen again. In fact, I spoke with Kevin just last month when it happened. Yet, wouldn't you know it, I just got an email saying that another appointment was just scheduled for me for service in July - and I haven't even picked up my car yet today to be able to remind them not to auto schedule after I leave. I find this not only infuriating, but also unethical. They clearly auto-schedule these appointments to try to get more money out of you, assuming that you aren't capable of keeping track of your own mileage to schedule an oil change when you actually need it. It is so incredibly frustrating that I don't ever want to take my car their again. I plan to start looking for a new garage. It's too bad, because we've been relatively happy with their actual vehicle service -- but this automatic scheduling has got to stop!!! read more

I was having an issue with the brakes in my Subaru, and since I'm from Albany but live in Buffalo for school, I couldn't drive back to Albany to see my regular mechanic. So, I made an appointment at the Northtown Service Center. I was able to make the appointment online, which was very convenient and easy. Plus I scheduled the appointment on a Monday and was able to get it in on Wednesday. When I arrived early, I had to wait a minute or two to talk to the service technician, Mike. He was very friendly and professional, and explained that they would take a look at the brakes, as well as perform their standard complimentary 28 point inspection, and then give me a call. I dropped the car off at 4pm and was called at 6:30, at which point he explained what would have to be done, and how much the total cost (before tax) would be. After I okay'd the work, he said they would give me another call when the car was ready, which came at 8pm. So, I was able to head right over, pay, and pick up my car. Overall I had a great experience with Northtown Subaru. They are very efficient at what they do, and every staff member I encountered was very professional. I will definitely be returning! read more

Came back in to drive another model and he was just as helpful. I NEVER give 5 Star ratings, or 10's being the best, or "completely satisfied". I find those ratings over-the -top. I will say that my experience at NT Subaru was professional, relaxing, and most of alllll "no pressure", just the way it should be. Huge props to Alex T. A very respectful, bright, knowledgeable young gentleman. Alex sold me the Subaru Crosstrek. Wow! What a solid SUV. I absolutely love it. This has been my 6th time buying a brand new car. The first brand new car I purchased was 25 years ago. With that said, buying a new car experience has changed just as going to a doctor has changed over these past 25 years. WE have to be "pro-active" when it comes to our health and making drs appts. How about calling a company needing to talk to a person - you get a voicemail directory. Even worse, a recording asking you to say "yes or no" and then the recording telling you "I'm sorry I didn't get that, could you repeat that please" and then ultimately the recording saying "good bye",,,click. I guess what I'm trying to say is, do your research. All of us have to be our own best advocates when it comes to buying or doing anything. Trust me (someone who has bought 6 new cars from 3 different dealers) NT Subaru in Amherst is a state of the arts facility, no pressure, no sales pitch, no gimmicks Auto Sales Company. Lastly - my daughter is going to Northtown today. She has certainly done her research (starving college student) and NT is giving her options she thought she would NEVER have. I had retired 2 years ago and that car was going to be the one to see me through my retirement. Well, the accident on the Thruway changed that (caused by another), but I'm grateful I was in my Subaru because it saved me from any injuries. After test driving the RAV4, HRV, CRV, Crosstrek and a few other crossover sub-compact SUVs, I stopped at Northtown to test drive the CX3 and compare it to the Crosstrek. The Mazda salesperson, Avery, was very nice. He had the Crosstrek and CX3 side by side for comparison, and then asked if I was ready to talk price. I still wanted to test drive the Rogue Sport, but I was heavily leaning to the Subaru, so yes, let's talk price. I told him cash deal, no trade - easy. He talked with his manager and came back with a hand-written note - $25,200, plus fees and taxes, or $2,000 down and $441 a month. I already told him it was a cash deal; I didn't want financing, and here they were offering it any way. I asked my son-in-law, "what was the sticker price?" "$25,200." This was their offer. Avery then asked, well, what do you want to pay? Maybe we could take a few hundred dollars off. The manager came over and also asked, what can we do? I left, test drove the Rogue Sport, decided on the Crosstrek, went over to West Herr later that afternoon, and bought the car. West Herr showed me a print out of the sticker, so I knew what I was getting, and made me a reasonable offer. They didn't offer me financing I wasn't interested in. Just a cash price - a much better price, much better service, no insults. I took the car home that afternoon. read more

I went looking for the best price and they hands down had it. Instead of me having to order a vehicle which would have taken forever they supplemented it with one they had on the lot which included options I would not have otherwise gotten and I was able to have my new car on the same day. The sales associate and finance guy were amazing and super accommodating. I was in and out and I had an amazing experience. So didn't expect the service I received here. There was no greeting upon entry and walked the entire floor looking for someone to ask for service. Finally found someone who nonchalantly asked his colleague (Mike Stepien) if he wanted to help us. He took us to our first requested option and just stood there watching me struggle to peak through the glass and the price stickers to see how the car would work for our family. I told tried telling him our lifestyle needs and he just stood there. Then I asked for the crosstrek and he seemed unfamiliar like they ran out of them and then was like "oh here's a white one". We walked over and he again stood there watching us peer through the glass trying to see the vehicle. I couldn't believe I was in Northtown Subaru! I refuse to try this place again and give them my hard earned money to get a good vehicle for me and my family. Oh so disappointed with their customer service. Terrible. I expected a LOT more respect. I am forced to give them a star for it to be posted on Yelp. I'll take my business somewhere else. read more

So, my experience with Northtown has been a roller coaster to say the least. When I was purchasing my first car (a used Subaru Impreza 2013 - I love this car), I was treated with respect and Jeff Klein did everything he could to get me a fair price. The experience of buying this car at this facility left me feeling like I made the right choice and that they would be reliable and dependable in the future. However I was sorely mistaken. After driving the car for 24 hours, I had my dad check it out, and we both noticed a sound coming from the tires. My dad looked at them, and they were completely worn, so I called Northtown to explain to them and they assured me that they had indeed changed the tires before I drove it off the lot. I asked the man to please make sure, and when he did, they had not changed them, so I brought the car back so they could replace my tires. (This is abbreviated for how many times I actually called the dealership until I was able to speak with the service manager). So fast forward about a year, my car is great, life is good when all of a sudden my car refuses to start. Ok, dead battery, lets jump it. Problem solved, I take it to autozone to replace the battery, they get out the read thing, and its reading that the battery is fully charged. So this problem repeats twice at varying intervals before I finally call Northtown and take it in. They can't find a problem and give me back my car, assuring me that it's safe to drive. Well the problem repeats, and repeats, finally the car refuses to start at all and just dies. So assuming perhaps it is the battery, we take the battery to autozone, where it reads as dying, so we buy a new one, and less than 48 hours later the car dies while driving it. So I call Northtown and they first tell me I don't have an extended warranty (false, I purchased it with the car and have that paperwork), and so I have to pay for towing, second, once the car is there they get it to start no problem, your car is good, they're ready to give it back to me, I explain that the car can't be good, it won't start sometimes and completely dies. My dad says that's unacceptable, and so my parents go in and speak with either the general manager, or whoever is in charge, and show him first the warranty, second ask that they keep the car until they fix the problem and they agreed to that and even paid for my rental while they took their time to figure out what was wrong, so in the end I was treated really well and my car was finally fixed. read more
