I had a really bad experience with a so-called "mechanic" who clearly has no idea what he's talking about. I brought my BMW, which has a brand-new timing chain and runs perfectly, for an inspection. After just one minute of driving -- without even connecting a scanner -- he claimed there was a timing chain issue. This person has no real experience with BMW engines and shouldn't be giving professional advice. Yes! A true honest mechanic! These guys fully came to the rescue when my Mini Cooper started smoking. I knew there was a risk of blowing a head gasket, and I called them and said, "I'm 4 blocks away, can I bring my car in right now?" I couldn't believe when they said yes. I was there five minutes later, they diagnosed my problem within another 5, and we agreed I'd leave the car there and Uber home. They worked on it the next day, calling me with every step, and I picked it up by 5pm that night. The price was exactly as they quoted me, and FAIR. And they were super friendly. This place was recommended to me by a good friend who had been here numerous times before. This was the first time I didn't bring my car to a dealership. My brakes were squealing but had plenty of pads left. BMW couldn't manage to fix it so I prematurely decided for all new front brakes. Nam was able to get OEM parts and installed them at a competitive price. I also had a few nice aftermarket competition parts for them to install. Other places didn't all want to touch customer provided parts or could get OEM parts. NW imports did all the work flawlessly and at a great price. They lent me a loaner car for the day too! During service the tech found a minor coolant leak and they called to get my approval to replace the pipe for just the cost of the part since my car was already on the lift and it was easy to access. I have a 1995 Jaguar XJ6 that's in good shape, for being a 24 year old classic car. I've had trouble finding a place for maintenance and upkeep, so I decided to stop in and talk to the crew at Northwest Import Auto Service. Nam, the owner, said they don't work on a lot of Jags, but they can do so. I explained that I needed a new voltage regulator installed, and that I had the part already. Nam, was kind and helpful and said I could bring the car in the next day, so I did. He was able to install the voltage regulator and had the car on the road the next day! AWESOME! It gets better - about three months ago, I'd had another local shop put all new belts on the car, only to have them squeal loudly - so loud it could wake the neighbors! NW corrected the belt tension and the car is now quieter than ever. What's more, Nam explained that he found two urgent items to address; an oil gasket that was leaking badly, and a poorly installed fuel filter. We agreed to work on some other items later, and focus on the urgent items for safety today. I appreciated that Nam was very clear about which items needed to be addressed now to avoid danger on the road for me and any passengers. This was an even bigger deal because the last place I brought my car, (that did the belts poorly), was supposed to review and assess all the seals to give me an update on the mechanical health of this used car. Somehow, they didn't make any suggestions about what needed immediate action and merely said it would "need a lot o work" and "has some leaks". Ha! What old car doesn't need some work? Nam and the team at Northwest Import Auto Service have earned my trust and my business. They were friendly, professional, fast, and even installed parts I'd purchased, making the entire experience positive. I'm very glad I found them and have been thrilled to drive my car this whole weekend. I'll be back soon to continue fixing what's needed and look forward to a great working relationship. I thought I had a good mechanic...I thought wrong. I took my car in a few times and I thought it was repaired. This last time I took it in because of an oil leak. First they told me it was the valve cover gasket. Then it was the cam chain tensioner gasket. Then they called me and said I would have to change the camchain tensioner because it had a crack on it and that was causing the oil leak. The estimate went from $250 to $320 to $850 over 4 days they had my car...after telling me the issue they'd call me back the next day with a new story I thought something was weird so I denied the work last minute. I decided to do the work myself. I found it was just the camchain tensioner gasket set that needed replacing. The tensioner itself was perfect and had no crack and was working properly. They totally lied to me trying to make an extra $500 on something I didn't need. When I took things apart I noticed things from a previous job I had them do that we're not right. At one point recently I had a coolant leak and the system had various pieces changed. I noticed one piece wasn't switched but instead they decided to cover it in epoxy. If I paid for something...why did I get something else? Something is really wrong here. They were always really nice, but I guess most cons are too. Deception lies at the heart of this place. Sad...I thought I had a good mechanic finally..I was totally wrong. read more

I am very disappointed that when I brought my car in for a tune up I was told I had a problem that didn't exist. I was informed that my upper oil pan gasket was cracked, it was going to cost $1,800. They would have to remove my transmission. I called around and learned that the repair is so complicated most shops don't do it. I also learned that it is very unlikely for that ever to happen. When I went to another shop I learned that it hadn't happened to me. That was my experience, take it as you will. read more

My window regulator failed a couple days ago so I've been driving around and parking with an open driver's window; not a good feeling. This morning was the first chance I had to get the repair done and Eric told me to come in right away. Less than an hour later, the regulator was replaced for $300 less than any other shop would charge. I love this place! I have had my BMW in there many times over the last 6 months, since I bought it used and it needed alot of work. Every time I take it in they drop what they're doing and look at my issue (or noise) and have even done diagnostics and code clearing for free for me. Their repairs are by far less expensive than the BMW Dealer and the repair has resolved my issues. I've done alot of research myself before I bring it in so I know what could be wrong with the car and after just a few minutes of them looking at it they tell me what they think is wrong (without me telling them what I've found) and give my options and explain the issue and the procedure to fix the issue. The day after I purchased a Lexus IS250 from a neighboring used car dealership, multiple warning lights came on and the car went into "fail-safe" mode (Stuck in 3rd gear). The car dealership brought me and my car to NW Import Auto to fix any issues. Jon and his team did an outstanding job with my car. They didn't "settle" when the codes were cleared, and the issues fixed. They did a real, long test drive to pay attention to any other issues the car may be having. He diagnosed another problem during that test drive (without a code) and was able to figure out the source of the problem and made that fix. I appreciate this! I feel like some mechanics would have just fixed the initial codes and said "done". NW Import didn't, which relieves me of a potential headache down the road. NW Imports even gave me a loaner car to use in the meantime, they answered all of my calls, they worked expeditiously, and I will definitely be coming back to this shop in the future., and highly recommend NW Import Auto Service. read more

This place is complete garbage. Bought a vehicle from them claiming it was a clean title. Got lied to 3 times in my face about the title status. Turns out the car is a rebuilt title, they did a switcheroo on titles last second after cash was given. I called the owner to talk about what happend and he was not having it, cursed me out stating he never said no such thing about it being clean and admitted to me he knew it was a rebuilt title. So the owner and business is a fraudulent, dishonest, rude person who false advertises things. I can't imagine how many people he has ripped off. So far I feel so good about this spot. Let me tell you why! I came in today with three needs for my 2015 Volvo S60: 1. Tire check because my censors indicated the air pressure was low, 2. Interior detail bc the car is dirty and 3. Body work done to the passenger side panel and rear door where I scuffed my car from scraping a concrete pole on my way out of a parking garage. As I walked in the door, another customer was waiting and mentioned he gets his vehicles (BMW and Volvo) serviced there and the owner was, "very fair," without me soliciting the quality of service. This made me feel great because some times I have to go to special spots because it's a Volvo. They quoted me $170 to do a detail to fix my problems and checked my tire pressure and re-inflated my tires on the spot, no charge. For that $170, they will clean and treat the leather (bonus!) and buff out the scuffs on the panels (saving me the thousands so I don't replace the panels, which the dealership had said I needed to do). I'll edit my review after service but I am so happy so far. read more

I heard about NW Import Auto from a friend who had used their services post-playa (think extremely fine alkaline dust in every single nook and cranny of one's car, potentially eating away at whatever it touches). They did a fantastic job scrubbing my car and I have yet to see even a speck of dust anywhere all for $150 including a $20 off coupon from their website. This included the undercarriage and the engine compartment. All of it is sparkling. They also changed my oil at my request at the going rate ($60 for synthetic), and so far no problems with that. There was a misunderstanding on the phone (due to a new employee) which led me to believe that I would be given a loaner during the detailing which is not their policy. In order to accommodate my needs they gave me a ride to a friend's house so I wouldn't have to wait at their shop. This was likely only because I thought I would have a loaner and planned accordingly, so this should not be an expectation for others. This showed their dedication to excellent customer service. read more

Last place I would ever take my car!!!! I took my car there for routine transmission fluid change. Two weeks later my transmission failed. I had my car towed to the dealership were they informed me that NW import auto used the wrong fluid causing the failure. After bringing it to their attention I got no help whatsoever. All they did was deny any responsibility. I had to take them to small claims court where I was awarded about 10% of what it actually cost me to replace the transmission.
