As it gets warmer outside, you start thinking about pools, whether you have one or not. In the Spring of 2019, I walked in to look and see about the possibility of sitting down with someone to design a pool and install later on in the year. After walking around for awhile with no help I left. I later called in to try and make an appointment and whomever the gentleman was that I spoke with basically discarded my request and treated me like I was an idiot for wanting to discuss installing a pool "right before the season." I am fully aware that building a pool in the excessive summer heat of Arizona is not realistic, and had not planned on breaking ground during the summer. You can still plan a pool in the mean time and save your pennies until breaking ground. I wasn't even afforded the opportunity to plan for a future pool because they weren't willing to make an appointment to sit down and discuss it. The way I see it, future business is still business, so why would you turn away any business? My husband and I are planners, and I have no idea what kind of cost goes into building a pool, so I was looking to plan, budget, save and install, but needed a starting point based on my vision for my backyard. Regardless of geographic location, a pool is an expensive investment, but a luxury, not a necessity, so I want to make sure my money is well spent. I was so discouraged by this visit that I ended up settling for a Wal-Mart above ground pool for about $350. Arizona is hard on vinyl, so my pool will likely only last through this season (it's now Spring 2021), so I'm getting the urge again to plan for a permanent structure, but it won't be with this company. They just left such a sour taste in my mouth, and I'd rather give my money to someone who wants to spend the time to sit down, plan and discuss appropriate steps for my goal. They're the closest pool company to my house, but I am certain to make an effort to drive elsewhere for my pool supplies. read more

The bottom step of my pebble tec pool cracked to I went here to get some repair material, they only had 1 color and the guy told me that there was no way to get the exact match unless we did the whole pool.. anyway the patch kit sorta matched so we bought it for $98 and some change after tax for a 3 lbs bottle.. There was not enough repair mixture to do the job so I was on the way back down to get some more but thought I would check online 1st and guess what? I found a 10 lbs bottle of MATCHING pebble tec from another place for only $74!!!! and the 3lbs bottles for $44... This was not the 1st time I purchased anything from this shop so I decided to look up the other stuff I have bought and was floored when everything I got from here was a lot cheaper elsewhere.. Needless to say I wont be going back and when I get ready to remodel the pool next year I will also look elsewhere. read more

We had heard about them through a friend, and after diner out Thursday night we drove by B&L Pool Supplies and they were closed. The gentleman i spoke to was walking around inside and waived, pointed to his watch, shrugged his shoulders and walked into the dark of the back of the store. With that we called NorthWest Pool Supplies the next day and woman who answered the phone answered all my questions pleasantly and discovered that there prices were LOWER and bad a better selection with many choices. It's so nice to have a pool supply place near the house. Especially one that's not Leslies. Not that I have anything against Leslies. It just felt as if I had little choice, with one on every corner. So far, I've only gone to Northwest Pool and Spa for a few basic supplies, primarily, liquid chlorine. They carry a brand called HASA. I've never heard of it before. But now I recognize their yellow crates in the back of pool maintenance pick up trucks all over town. You buy a crate of 4 gallons, and then bring them back for a refill for about $13.00. That's a pretty good deal, and kind of enviro -- if it weren't for the fact that it's chlorine you're buying. read more

It's not the most organized space inside the store but don't let that upset you- the service I got here was outstanding. I did not grow up with a pool in my backyard but for the past two summers I've lived with a 10 foot deep diving pool that gives me fits. It gets yellow algae growth the moment I turn my back on it for 24 hours, the chlorine levels and pH are never steady and I should probably hire a pool service company but I like a challenge. Storms with wind and rain and me working overtime a few days in a row = a very green pool and I knew I had to do something to make it pay for its insolence. The other pool supply stores seem more about selling you their products than really solving your issues but that wasn't how I felt at Northwest. I explained the deal with my green pool and I was prescribed Coppercide and 8 gallons of liquid chlorine. HASA Coppercide is only $20 a bottle which beats buying two cans of Yellow Gone at WalMart for $25 (which never kills ALL of the algae anyhow), and that bottle + the chlorine annihilated the algae in my pool. Instead of $5 bags of shock, I'm going with the liquid chlorine from now on. Much cheaper and more effective and advised by the person who stood to profit the most from "selling" me something more than I needed- the owner's wife. The HASA products seem to work better in general and I haven't really seen them on the shelves at other local stores. read more

I feel like it's a prerequisite to have terrible customer service to work here. Store is always filthy and disorganized. Had them "rebuild" our booster and pool pump and neither came back great. Booster lasted maybe 2 months after that. Guy they send out to do repairs cancelled multiple times and we even had to call him because he forgot about the appointment. It's amazing that people run a business like this when there is a pool store within minutes away that customers can easily switch to. If anything I've learned a lot about my pool in the process of fixing repairs myself that I couldn't count on them to do. So I guess thanks for that northwest pools. read more

The old owner is gone. The new guy Frank came over to give me an estimate to get my filter fixed and install new pad under the units. He stated removing sand and putting it back in the filter has to be done to get to the pad and it was time consuming. I should have gotten a 2nd estimate after his $450 estimate for that and some other minor repairs to the pump and filter. I came home during the repair and the pump was moved but somehow no sand had to be displaced. He replaced the pads and then went on to reinstall the broken pressure gauge that was on it? The store is 4 miles down the road. Get a new one. You said you would fix everything and you didnt. You used less time and billed the same for the time consuming work that never happened. A nice guy who did average work at best. Who knowingly reinstalls a bad part and calls it a day? Do yourself a favor get more than 1 bid. you got me once, but surely not again. He also left the grounding strap disconnected and hanging from the pump motor. Also a lack of quality work. read more

My husband installed an inground spa and Steve came out to give him advice. I bellieved he also drilled the holes for the plumbing. The only negative thing I can say that their service calls are now the highest for the area and unfortunately I can no longer call them for service. Been going to this pool supply store since Steve owned it. William is nice but definitely more into selling. His staff needs far better customer service skills. The last couple of times I went during the week and the two young gents didn't acknowledge anybody until you walked up to the counter. Larger of the two had no greeting, barely made eye contact and didn't offer to help me find my chlorine or other products I just paid for. Really felt like once they go payment, there was nothing they needed to do. Maybe they weren't interacting because they weren't wearing masks either. Besides the poor customer service, they've raised their prices so it's time to find another reliable small business to patronize and get good service and pricing. read more

We have been there four or five times. We have a Hayward ultra pool vacuum that needed worn parts replaced. The guys are not very friendly and they forgot to put one of the parts back in, so we returned the following day and they "fixed" it again. They did not apologize for the inconvenience.
