I don't do reviews. When I hire someone I expect to be pleased, if not I just don't hire them…read moreagain. Luis and his crew were different - fantastic!!! The job was complicated with 40 year old aborvitae needed to be remove, the 2-3 foot retaining wall that was holding them in place, replaced and a fence built. As the work began I had questions. I texted Luis and he answered with a text or a phone call almost immediately. Always with a positive solution. His guys worked hard and with concern for arounding areas. They will be back in the Spring for a sprinkler update and some pruning.

I got a bid from Luis for the removal of a pond plus the installation of a bubbler plus some some…read morelimited landscaping and stepping stones. in the same area. His original bid was 14,500 after some additions to the original bid which was 12,500. He thought the project would take 3 days. It stretched out to 10 days as he was working on some other projects. We picked out some stones for the wall around the bubbler together. As he was still building the wall, I decided that it was too tall and big. I asked him to make it a little smaller. He was not happy to have to rearrange the stones by removing a layer and making it a little smaller. He did put the 3 layers on while I was not there. He said this would cost more money and implied I might not be willing to pay the extra. I said I would though he was less than gracious. He did not want to help me pick out plants so I went to to a discount nursery at his suggestion and picked out several plants. His total price with discount was 285.00. He added a larger dogwood to the area and charged me 250.00 for it. I paid for 2 other plants for which he did not reimburse me (small Japanese dogwood at 89.00 and a Sundowner New Zealand flax at 49.00. His original bid called for soil amendment in this whole rather small area. He wanted to throw down bark dust to prevent weeds instead of the soil/mulch he had originally quoted in the bid. I said no and they put down the proper amendment. The workers left a large amount of stones and debris that I had asked the to remove before putting down the soil amendment. the job was very uneven and they did not put down a consistent layer down. I did not get a chance to review his work of a full day as I was not available that day. When I came home in the late evening I found that he had "finished" the job and my husband had OK'd it and the 1,500 extra . He put a lot of pressure on my husband to pay him that very evening and he cashed the check immediately. I called him later and asked him to clear some of the stones from the beds and embed the stepping stones. He told me my husband had OK'd it and he did not plan to come back. He told me I was a person who felt privileged and he did not want me to call him again as I would never be satisfied. I feel that Luis feels he is privileged one and that he can get away with cutting corners at will. He was quite disrespectful with me. Luis was a poor communicator and did not want input from the client as he thought he knew what was best. My husband and I are 81 and 84 and can't remember when we have ever treated this way by someone who agreed to work for us.
