To start, Jake showed up a day later than he said he was to bid on the job. Once I told him where I was at with quotes from other companies, he gave me a price that we accepted. He showed up the day he said he would and chopped it all down. The first thing that was unacceptable to us is that his wife showed up to help with their young TODDLER. He was just walking around our property without supervision. I had a hacksaw in the back yard, and he picked it up by the blade and I had to get it from him because they didn't have eyes on him. At the end of the first day, I was grilling food for my family, and we fed them all dinner just as another thank you for helping. They came back out the next day and cleaned up the rest of the debris and he texted me and said he would be back out with a stump grinder to get the roots out. He brought the grinder, and it wasn't big enough for the job. He then said he was going to just cut the stumps down short, which was not the agreed upon plan, and I told him that he was supposed to remove them. He came back with a buddy the next day, picked up the grinder, said he was going to get other equipment to pull the stumps and that he would be back in 2 days. 2 days came and he was a no show. I messaged him and he said he would be there the next day. Didn't happen again. He said he would be there on Friday (the Fourth of July) to do it and apologized. Friday came and he didn't show up. Through this entire thing, I had to be the one to reach out and communicate with him over and over again. We were understanding and patient with him and he completely abandoned the job. We are now stuck with a bunch of stumps to deal with and our plans for this location are shot for the time being. I will not be using him for anything else I have going on and I do not recommend anyone else trust this guy to complete the work that he starts. Do yourself a favor and find someone else.

FIVE STARS: After months of flaky contractors, either never submitting bids or not showing up when…read morethey scheduled I found Samuel and Garnicas Concrete Construction. They replied promptly to questions, and showed up THAT DAY, right on time and gave a bid on the spot. Samuel was super nice and we decided to try and schedule the work. He was a few weeks out and the weather was iffy, but soon after we received an update that he could fit us in much sooner due to changes in the weather. Samuel and his team arrived right on schedule and did a great job forming the whole driveway out within a few hours. The day of the pour they again arrived right on time, took care to mask off the siding, and were careful to not get any residual concrete down the storm drains and did an excellent job cleaning up before leaving. I could go on and on, but I was thoroughly impressed. The concrete looks fantastic, even better than I had hoped for. We had a brushed finish on our back patio, and exposed aggregate on the driveway, so two finishes on the same pour and I was worried it might not match the existing concrete. I had nothing to worry about. It looks fantastic and I am very happy, I highly recommend.
