My family and i went downtown after church looking for a place eat lunch. We landed at Nose Dive as I had never been there before. Of course my husband had been there a few times. He wasn't too keen on dining here but since I had never been...he digressed. My husband pointed out that there wasn't much for me to choose from...as I have a gluten allergy (his last attempt to get up and find somewhere else). I was so excited to see how many gluten free items they had on their menu...I had a hard time deciding. Now...although I enjoyed my (gluten feee) fish & chips, my husband and son did not enjoy theirs very much. My husband said the chicken was ok but the waffles were rock hard. My son said the same about his regular fish and chips...they weren't very flavorful. I will try Nose Dive again, because it has a great atmosphere, prices are affordable and the servers were friendly and helpful. Came here with my parents for dinner, only had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated without a reservation. We had great service, ambiance was visually pleasing but also very loud-no noise dampening at all. We ordered the salmon with fregola pasta, fish and chips and pan seared salmon on a salad. All were pretty good, I felt the Parmesan crusted salmon with fregola could have had better flavor and the crust seemed a bit stale. Not my favorite dish but the others were very good. The drinks and staff were great but they messed up my friend's order even after repeating it orders back to us. My daughter had same but gluten free option. I ordered a Roasted Half Chicken with Blackberry Habanero BBQ, Duck Fat Potatoes, Collard Greens - so good! It's a Saturday and Saturdays aren't meant for brunch lol so I ordered mimosas and my partner a few of their specials. I enjoy a variety of mimosas and I noticed our bartender was very welcoming and knew how to make an awesome drink. I asked if he could muddle some strawberries and basil and he was super game. Then we tried just muddled strawberries in another. He made our experience really amazing. I ordered the side of fried green tomatoes, and a half grilled peach salad with candied pecans. All Southern all the time. Oh, and a local IPA. I never got the beer and when the food came you could see the pool of grease on the fried green tomatoes. They were cold and greasy. First time here. Nice contemporary atmosphere. Apps were deviled eggs and something called shrimp strips. The so-called strips were more like 3 large shrimp egg rolls cut on the bias. Both very good but the "strips" could cover a lot more than the two of us. I ordered a mid-rare to medium grilled salmon. While still very moist was a bit past medium. Especially for $17. The mac and cheese lacked flavor, it was too buttery, not cheesy enough. The only thing that was actually delicious was the kale salad and I had to order this separately as a side salad because the mac and cheese did not come with a side. It was very fresh and had a light dressing. Overall, for the environment and pricing of this place the food should be better quality. Nose Dive was also super accommodating as it was really windy that day so they said no problem when we asked to move around the corner and out of the wind. I got a skillet which was great. The gravy was the highlight of the skillet. It was amazing and I feel like most skillets don't have gravy in them. It was also a ton of food so I had leftovers that I took home. The fries I'm willing to bet the top to the salt shaker came off because they were very salty, like oops, I dropped the salt top salty. My burger was blah. How do you make a burger bland. It was a beautiful day and they opened up the dining room wall of windows, so it felt like we were sitting outside!
