We had a great tapas like meal at the new and approved Roost. The tuna tartare was the star of the show along with the wedge salad which was delicious and perfectly refreshing. We also had the coconut firecracker shrimp and the truffle fries. Some great honorable mentions. The atmosphere was spectacular! A great spot to enjoy Thursday or Friday evening music in Noma square and the service was spot on. I would highly recommend to any local or visitor. Our group of four dined here last night and it was wonderful! Such a variety of appetizers, nice wine selection, and the kindest wait staff. Despite being full, the noise level in the facility was minimal. We could hear easily and didn't have to raise our voices to carry on a conversation. But guys, you need to train your front-of-house staff. We were served by a young, tattooed dude who was trying way too hard to be cool. That was fine - kinda endearing actually. We ordered four small plates for the two of us - the cheese platter and beet and beef tartare, which we asked to come out first, and then the hot plates - the truffle fries and scallops - which we asked to come out second. They all came out at once. The waiter checked in on us, and we told him that everything was tasty, but we had asked for the tartare and cheese first, followed but the other dishes. He stated that, "they are all appetizers so would all come out together. But if we were in a hurry he could bring us takeout boxes"... Ummm, no. we weren't in a hurry. In fact we wanted to take our time. C'mon... Oh, and then at the end of the meal our server cleared our dishes before we had finished eating the fries. Me and my boyfriend came here for Valentine's Day, we started with the bread board, which was really good, but not a ton of bread and too much butter. Then we got the scallops which were delicious. A definite must try! For my meal, I got the wedge salad, which was OK and my boyfriend got the fillet which he said was not cooked medium rare like he asked but still good. Selection of food was limited to what it has been in past years. We had a 5 o'clock reservation for a party of 10. It appeared we were being rushed to finish. Our waited Paul complained numerous times that he had to work on Christmas. It showed in his attitude and lack of customer service. It is a bad practice for restaurants to automatically include a 20% tax on large parties. This is why our lack of service provider didn't provide satisfactory service. Stayed at The Hyatt Regency Greenville which made this atrium second floor location very accessible. The hostess stand is on the street side so you have to walk through the restaurant if entering from the hotel. Greeted and seated, chose an outdoor enclosed heated patio adjacent to a water feature. This restaurant is located inside of the Hyatt Regency hotel in the North Main area of downtown Greenville. The restaurant is accessible from the square without going into the hotel. Reservations are highly recommended as this is a very popular spot. Service was excellent. The server Katie was very nice and very knowledgeable about the menu. She was also very attentive to all of her tables that were near me. The sticky wings are a definite must try item. I stopped by Roost for breakfast after spending the night at the hotel next door. The breakfast options left A LOT to be desired. The menu was super limited . I ordered the Low country shrimp and grits while my boyfriend ordered the omelet. Both options were extremely bland and can be described as "meh". When asking for coffee, there ware no plant based alternatives to milk / creamers and there was also nothing but full fat milk or creamer which I usually try to avoid because full fat milk is not my friend. I wish I had tried a different place for breakfast because this meal was really unremarkable and disappointing. Nothing about this breakfast was pleasant. Started with the fact that they said it was a "buffet" and then they charged me for individual items I picked up. Fruit $4, OJ $4, omelette $12... that's not a buffet. To make it worse, I noticed too late that some of the fruit was moldy like the blackberries. Wonder if anyone even bothered washing the fruit... if they had they'd have noticed. The pastries laying out were swarming with fruit flies/gnats, again very unappetizing. And the omelette I threw about half away it was very greasy from too much oil or butter. In all one of the worst breakfasts I've had at a Hyatt Regency. Pro tip - Get here early for dinner if there's a concert in NOMA square! Roost has a fantastic outside patio area with a small waterfall that is usually packed during good weather days. They also have lots of inside seating that are close to large windows so you can still some natural sunlight. Their kitchen is an open kitchen and it's pretty cool to watch them prepare the food. Definitely make it for the Happy Hour deals which end at 7. They have $3 well drinks, $4 drafts and $5 wines as well as appetizers for $5-7. We got two of the happy hour apps as well as two other appetizers off the menu and it was more than enough for three people. - Bison cheese fries: OMG YUM! Definitely get this! So savory, so cheesy and flavorful. -Bacon truffle Mac and cheese: You can add chicken, shrimp or lobster for extra cost but we got this plain and it was still fantastic! You can't go wrong with truffle and bacon anything. - Wings: $5 during happy hour. My fiancé enjoyed this. - Cheese flatbread: $5 during happy hour and this was meh.
