We had a wonderful meal yesterday. The baked eggplant, stuffed squid, and sampler platters were excellent. Well maybe we didn't care for the sliced lamb, but everything else was superb. Nostos looked like a restaurant straight out of Greece with it's decor and atmosphere. The chicken kabob skewers, salmon entree, and lamb shank were all very delicious. Yum. Sat at the bar with friends for lunch. I had the lunch portion of spanikopita, and the serving was enough for me to take one stuffed spinach triangle home for a small lunch another day. The place isn't crazy at lunch (or really ever, from what I can tell), but the food is solid, and the atmosphere is pleasant. We were very disappointed in this establishment. The combination of the food and service received, or rather not received, was not worth the money we paid. The room was too cramped to accommodate the rowdy atmosphere. The waiters did not know how to explain the menu and would not tend to us to refill drinks or check on the food. Plates were not cleared from the table until after we flagged down an employee to bring our check. A $40 lamb chop entree was not consistently cooked, not to mention that they failed to ask anyone at the table how they wanted their meat cooked. The portions were sampler sizes. We cut our losses and skipped dessert. Paired with the poor service, my family and I will not be returning. I always leave a 25% tip, but here, I couldn't convince myself to do that. Very tasty I might say, and service was right on spot with timing the meal courses throughout our lunch. The meat was cooked just as requested, and was very tender. You must try the sample appetizer dish, very good combination of flavors. We ate here during a pre-set Valentines course meal, so you may want to check out their regular menu. I was in town for a week and a half on business in the area. I made it a point to go out and try new things as many nights as possible. I found Nostos with my trusty Yelp app on my smartphone and off we (myself and two coworkers) went. Apparently, we arrived at just the right time (around 6:15 PM) because the place was virtually empty when we arrived. Unfortunately, all of the tables were reserved and we had to be seated at the bar. I was initially let down, but the bartender was professional and attentive. Over the course of the next hour and a half, the place filled up and became quite loud. We each had a glass of wine and some pitas with some sort of dip (my coworker ordered it and I don't remember what he asked for). It was deliciously different. I opted for the lamb chop with asparagus dinner plate for my main course. It was quite literally the best lamb I've ever eaten. Unfortunately it was only three small chops, maybe 5 ounces of meat total. That, paired with about one small potato (cut into 3 to 4 small pieces) and about 5 small-ish asparagus sticks. For the price (around $40), I would have expected a bit more. However, the quality made up for the lack of quantity. We each opted for a dessert and an after dinner drink. Our total was around $280 for three people - with two drinks each, one appetizer, three main course entrees and one dessert each. For this price, we could have obtained much more food at about the same quality in Atlanta. This was the only reason I gave it less than five stars. My hope is that the cost of living adjustment between Atlanta and the DC area are the cause of this, and not the actual pricing decisions of the restauranteurs. That said, the food and service were excellent. My only recommendation would be to add some non-Greek wines to the list, increase the portion sizes a bit and keep prices the same (or lower prices and keep the portion sizes the same). I love this place! the lamb was so good! very nice staff. The apple pie desert is very good! My husband ordered the half chicken but he didn't like it, the skin was still on it and it wasn't crispy, the inside of the chicken was very pink, he didn't send it back cause it took like 30 minutes to make & he was starving. First off the bat the food was good, the Haloumi and Hitapodi were yummy. All four of us ordered the Branzino . It was fresh and flavorful, thumbs up! However the red bottle we ordered was served a little too cold.. too chill for our liking. The decor is modern but feel cold and over all place is small and tight, not very comfortable. Tucked away in the bottom of an office building in Tysons Corner, but with plenty of parking. Great selection of wines and small plates. We enjoyed all that we got which included the flaming cheese, Greek meatballs, fried calamari, and scallop special. Intimate space but also private feeling with a separate room that could be nice for parties, and also a great bar area. On follow-up visits I've enjoyed many other small plates, including the grilled calamari, octopus and friend zuchinni. We've never ordered entrees and will continue enjoy the variety of the menu. The service has always been great. I've always made reservations because it is a small dining room and it's always busy. My only complaints are prices and portions are a little off; not a ton of food for the cost. read more

Went here with co-workers. It was a fancy atmosphere with good food. There were two things I really enjoyed. The lemon chicken soup called AVGOLEMONO, which was delicious, and the TZATZIKI dip. But after that everything went downhill, including the service.. Before I move forward, I would like to state again that the service was horrible! :( For my meal, I ordered the SEABASS FILLET and the filet mignon skewers called FILETO SOUVLAKI.. The filet mignon was too salty and overcooked.. Very disappointing. The sea bass was really good, but the bed of spinach and rice was too salty. I've been to this restaurant a handful of times and I do not remember the food being this salty or the service being this bad.. But a restaurant at this level should have consistent service. Solid Greek fare in a nice atmosphere. This spot is definitely on the higher end of dining, personally I would recommend it for more serious occasions, and if youre going for casual then just do take out. The food here is amazing!! Came here for the first time on Valentine's Day with fiancee, we ordered off the fixed menu. The kabobs are delicious, the bread is very soft and I just love all the dipping sauces. Second time I convinced a bunch of coworkers to go for a team lunch, everyone loved the food this time as well. As someone who has been to Greece and eaten authentic Greek food in Athens and Santorini, this comes pretty close to the real deal. Great selection of appetizers, small plates, and entrees and some reasonably priced wine. My wife & I shared about 4-5 small plates for our dinner with a bottle of wine. Everything was superb, perfectly cooked and excellent presentation. I have been to the numerous other "faster" food Greek places throughout Vienna, and this place has a nice ambiance and better food (should due to prices). It did not disappoint at all and I recommend it for groups of 4-6. The two top table we had was jammed into what could be made into a private room but it had about 10 tables with a mix of 2 & 4 top tables. I agree with some other posts about the close proximity to other tables but I NEVER felt rushed by our waiter. I will definitely going back here!! read more

I have to start by saying I'm a sucker for small plates, but this place does them impeccably. I've now been there twice and I'll definitely go back again. I can't recommend the flaming cheese enough and their fried zucchini is an incredible appetizer. As for the main course, the meatballs and the filet mignon are both definitely worth trying and sharing. But you better save room for dessert because their dessert sampler platter has the full honey-drenched Greek dessert experience you need. Also, if they happen to have the fresh donuts the night you go, you need to try them. read more

It was amazing...in fact, it was so good, we returned for lunch two days after our first dinner. Each dish we had at Nostos was fantastic. Unlike many Greek restaurants, the interior decor is not just kitchy posters, but it is tastefully done and feels both cozy and home like. The service was great on both occassions although several friends who had been noted that they were disappointed with it. This place is how you say "Off the chizzain!" The beets are a must have for appetizers. You eggplant is also excellent. The traditional sampler platter is perfect if you are unsure of what to have and want to flavor a variety of items. The food here is consistently delicious. Each of the three times I've dined here, I have split several small plates and some entrees and everything has been great. Suffice it to say, I have tried at least half the menu at this point. The avegomolo soup is awesome, as are the trio of dips, especially the tyrokafteri (spicy feta). The shrimp saganaki and swordfish skewers were excellent, as were the chicken and lamb kebobs. The zucchini (KOLOKITHAKIA) had good flavor and the octopus was super tender. A wonderful upscale Greek environment with a friendly and attentive bartender, that made the experience memorable. We started the night off by being welcomed by a accommodating hostess that took our coats and since we were early we grabbed a seat at the bar. There a highly skilled barkeep Daniel wowed us with his knowledge of the wine and drink selection and offered us a appetizer special. he made us feel like instant regulars learning our names and dazzled us with some flaming cheese dish. we felt so comfortable we never left the bar choosing to enjoy the ambiance of the bar. There wasn't ever too many people and by the end of our meal we felt like we had a personal friend. I will continue to enjoy Nostos for many meals to come. read more

We enjoyed the trio of dips. Grilled octopus is a must. I ordered the mousaka which was excellent, although it was my first time trying the dish. Others in my party ordered salmon (very typical, came with rice and veggies), sea bass (tasted great, perfectly cooked), and 5 oz steak (good portion for light eaters). This place is a bit pricey (my share was about $50 including wine+appetizers), so come here to eat what they're known for: greek specialty food. I surprised my wife taking her here on our anniversary. Good decision! I figured she would like the architecture if nothing else - and it is beautiful, a lovely little spot, muted white and grays and textures just like being in Greece. But the food, wine, and especially the service all exceeded our expectations. My wife particularly liked the eggplant dip, which was loaded with garlic. Stuffed grape leaves were also good, spiked with mint. We also ordered the octopus small plate, and it was tender and delicious. Finally we shared one of the lamb entrees with roasted potatoes. Every item was tasty and well-prepared. Their list of Greek wines is pretty impressive, with a few varieties even I had never had before. What really made the night was the service. The waiter was patient, smiling and pleasant as we tried to sort everything out. Even though we ordered in phases (we weren't sure if we wanted a main until after having some small plates), it never phased him. And he always seemed to be there in a moment without ever hovering or being pushy. Bottom line: they made us feel like welcomed guests! It's rare to get treatment like that, even at a high-end place in DC. I will say they burned our octopus a bit - I love charred and grilled food, but this has a bit of carbon that we simply had to cut off. But even with that, our overall experience was so positive that I still am giving them five stars. There's no question we'll go back! read more

I call this Zaytinya of Tysons Corner. The food is as good as Zaytinya but the service is strictly average. It's a pretty small place so definitely recommend making reservations in advance otherwise you have to wait about 15 minutes at least. Love the baklava! read more
