If you read my review of the Long Beach location, you'll know that I earned 500 points by being a member of a rewards program that also runs on the Thanx platform, an unprecedented and inconceivable, yet serendipitous surprise. At this time 2 years ago, I would have had to go to Huntington Beach to try a bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes. Since then, this plus at least two other locations closer to me have opened, and it makes me wonder how prosperous they can be if they keep up the quality of their sweet treats. This Nothing Bundt Cakes in Downey is located in the Promenade at Downey, a ginormous shopping center home to a plethora of businesses. It's on the east side of Lakewood Blvd north of Apollo Way, but don't get it confused with Downey Landing, the adjacent shopping center just north of the Promenade at Downey. If you see Handel's at the corner of a building, head north; Nothing Bundt Cakes is between the PIH Urgent Care and Pick Up Stix. I was planning to visit a couple other businesses, which also have locations in the Promenade at Downey, to redeem a couple of rewards that were going to expire in the next couple of days. Rather than going to three separate locations closer to me, I decided to go to this one and redeem my points, which expire a year after they are earned. With 500 points, I could get $5 off my purchase. With an additional 100 points, I could get a free bundtlet. You get 10 points for every dollar you spend, and I'm sure there are others who would rather spend $10 to score the free bundtlet on a future visit. Bundtlets are $6.75 at this location, and I chose to use the $5 off on an individual bundtlet. They have traditional flavors that are offered year round, but I prefer trying the seasonal flavors instead knowing I may not get a chance to try it again until the following year at the earliest. I came in on a Thursday early evening during the last hour of operation, and a couple of customers had come in right before me. There weren't any other customers inside when we arrived, but when I left about 5 minutes later, the end of the line was by the door! It didn't take long for the two customers in front of me to be serviced. However, I got confused with the setup because they have a barrier in the middle to divide the line into two. Only one employee was working when I was next in line, and I didn't know which side of the barrier to stand on since I didn't know if a second employee was going to come out of the back room or not. When it was my turn to order, Linda called me over to ring me up. I asked about the two seasonal specials that were being advertised by their front door: Caramel Apple Cider and Pumpkin Spice. At first, I didn't see the Caramel Apple Cider in their display case, but I saw a handful of the Pumpkin Spice. I asked about the Caramel Apple Cider bundtlet, but it was $8.25, which is $1.50 more than the other bundtlet flavors. I then asked about Pumpkin Spice, which is the normal price of a bundtlet at this location. Linda then mentioned it was really really good, so needless to say, I went with the Pumpkin Spice knowing that PSL season had already commenced. Linda asked me if I'd like anything else, to which I responded a bag and a utensil. She graciously placed my Pumpkin Spice bundtlet into a Nothing Bundt Cakes bag, but overlooked a utensil, though I won't really ding her for that oversight since I had plenty of them back home. However, I do question her response to my question of how long that bundtlet would last in the fridge. Actually, I did ask her how long it'd last on the counter, and she recommended against that idea since the frosting could get too soft. Okay, believable. However, she mentioned the bundtlet would only last 2 days in the fridge, yet I've been told at least 5 days by other employees at different locations. I tested that theory by waiting two days before taking a bite. The inside of the cake was so dry that I didn't agree with Linda on how good it was. I was only able to eat half that day and saved the other half for the following day. For whatever reason, I liked it better on that following day! There was a lot of birthday decor on the right side of the shop, so if you're looking to celebrate a birthday, you can get more than just the cake here. That's pretty much the norm at any Nothing Bundt Cakes you go to, however. Though not the best Nothing Bundt Cakes employee I've interacted with, Linda's level of service was on par with a typical employee at this bakery chain. Overall, a nice bundt cake shop in the City of Downey! I doubt I'll return to this location unless I happen to be in the area again for some other reason, but if you live in or near Downey and are craving a bundt cake, this shop will certainly fulfill your desire. Also, don't forget to sign up for their eClub, which is different from their rewards program! If you're a part of both, you can actually get two complimentary birthday bundtlets! You're welcome :)

Such a good experience. It's really cute inside and the employees were so nice, informative, and patient! They seem to enjoying working there with how pleasant they are with each other and customers. The cakes were sooooo good! Idk how I've gone this long without coming here.

Linda, Kylie, Abby, Abigail and Daniella are sweeter than the Bundt cakes they sale and make. They are amazing workers. There was a lady being unnecessarily rude to them and all of the ladies handled it with grace! I have to give props where it is due. I got the 10" white chocolate raspberry cake for my sisters birthday. I'm not sure what made this Bundt cake different from all the others, but it was amazingly tasty.

    Small bundt cake.

I received the tower of small Bundt cakes. They are good, but in my opinion, Creative Cakery is where I have gotten my Bundt cakes for well over 35 years! The frosting made all the difference for me. Again, this is just my opinion!!

Please avoid this Nothing Bundt Cake franchise location. The store itself was fine but as you can see from the photos, the bundt cakes are like half the normal size. They were swimming in the containers and even after the huge dollop of frosting, barely came up to halfway up the container. They were also narrow and shook from side to side since there was so much empty space. Do not recommend this location.

    My order

I mean who doesn't love these cakes, so yummy.. But we all know they're frozen and just need to be thrown in a box , I ordered one and paid for it online and got to the pick up literally four minutes before the pick up time, the girl went in the back and then came out with another girl and they told me my pick up time is at 12:15 and I can go wait in the car , I asked what time is it now and they said 12:11 I left my cane in the car and I wasn't gonna go back and forth, so I thought I could just wait there for the four minutes , And they also seemed annoyed that I was waiting, one stood there doing absolutely nothing and the other one pulled stickers off a sheet and placed them on a brown paper bag, ridiculous really! They handed me my cake at 12:19 and said sorry for the wait. Two girls standing there doing nothing at the counter the whole time I waited, why couldn't one of them just run back there and throw it in a box and hand it to me? What happened to customer service? I would lie if I say I was not coming back because like I said.. Yum! But that left a bad taste in my mouth, probably will have the bad taste in my mouth until I take my first bite of cake. No other customers were in the store at the time of my pick up, I reached out to The email above where they asked me to send the experience, what a complete waste of time. They could've given me a five dollar coupon off my next cake or something , I think they wrote that on the review just to make themselves look good. I received the same response that I did here when they replied .

Went to try the limited item: Chocolate Toffee Crunch. I ordered on the app and picked up in-store. It was a delicious flavor, $1 more than the usual bundt. The bakery was clean and organized. There was a line, but I was acknowledged and helped as soon as possible.

Pineapple Upside Down Bundtlet- This is the worst cake I ever had for 8.25

*Check price at other Nothing Bundt Cakes before you buy!**** I have tried to give this Bundt cake location my business, however, I noticed that the icing is always less than it should be in an effort to get you to pay for extra. The final straw I went today to try the Pineapple Upside Down cake, he told me that the price was 8.25 for the specialty cakes! I was appalled! Usually the specialty cakes are a dollar more max for the bundtlet! I called another local nothing Bundt cake who told me there specialty cakes are the same price as the regular Bundtlets! I won't be going back to Downey! They are running a sham.

It's a chain, right! We expect consistency That delectable cream cheese frosting, chilled in the rotating cases. The hole in the middle filled to the brim with said frosting! I love all the flavors but lemon is my go to! It was opening day but no line! Coming out of the shop, there was a handsome gentleman, obviously just off work...I had seen him inside buying a full size cake to take home. He bought a mini confetti bundt...I came out just as he took his first bite...his eyes were closed and the look on his face was magical! I had to stop and ask...what was your favorite part about that bite...with a big smile he said...EVERYTHING! Refrigerate those cakes please! Mine was not good yesterday

My friend ordered me a cake and it was delivered open. We spoke to Adrian and he said it was delivered open due to the birthday cone. That is highly unacceptable and not sanitary at all. I was highly appalled and disappointed that they would deliver a cake opened. It should have been doubled wrapped or something. Who would want to take a chance eating something that was delivered open. That is so gross! I have never heard a such of a food place saying that is acceptable. I will never go to this location again.

The Dubai Chocolate isn't listed on the menu, but I asked the lady and she said it was available and highly recommended it. I also got the Strawberry Shorty. The strawberry on the Strawberry Shorty reminded me of the strawberry filling in a Duvalin, which I really enjoyed. The toppings on both donuts were amazing, but the actual donuts themselves were a little bland and could have used a bit more flavor for my liking. They were still soft on the inside with a nice crispy exterior. Overall, it was a good dessert and I really enjoyed the toppings. I just wish the donuts themselves had a little more flavor!

But it was too late to make it to my usual Long Beach location which closes at 10pm. So, it was a pleasant surprise when i found out that the Downey Location closes at 11pm. So, this was my First time at this Downey location at the "Downey Landing" Outdoor Mall. Lots of parking available out front. This is one of the parlor style Handel's locations. I arrived at 10:15pm. There was a descent line but it was moving at a reasonable pace. You order at the window, you pay and wait for your order. The Space outside is nice with a limited amount of seating in a common area. The building is well lit and you can listen to some nice background music while you wait for your order or while eating. For those who don't know Handel's. Their ice cream is made in house daily at every location. And the flavors are seasonal. So, you wont always find the same fruit flavors. You'll also find different flavors at different Locations. Today i ordered 5 pints to go. Flavors in order were... Black Raspberry Chunk Peach Peanut butter parfait Key Lime pie Meri's Choice (never seen this one before) When i got home. I had a sample of each, and although they were all delicious. The 2 that stood out the most were the Peach (made with real peaches) and the Peanut butter parfait. The Key Lime Pie could also be a top place contender. In conclusion. The Ice Cream is always excellent at Handel's. The portions are generous. The prices are reasonable and the service is always good. I once again highly recommend trying them out if you have not already.

Although the shop operates as a walk-up window with limited seating, upbeat music playing throughout the outdoor area creates an inviting atmosphere. The line moved efficiently despite the steady stream of customers, and the staff remained friendly throughout our visit. Best of all, the portion sizes are incredibly generous. A small serving is practically three scoops, offering excellent value. **Strawberry Ice Cream (Waffle Bowl): 5/5** Handel's truly elevates a timeless favorite with this exceptional strawberry ice cream. It had an irresistibly creamy texture while allowing the fresh, vibrant flavor of real strawberries to shine through in every bite. The crisp, freshly made waffle bowl added a delicious buttery crunch that perfectly complemented the luscious strawberry ice cream. **S'mores Ice Cream (Chocolate-Dipped Waffle Bowl): 3/5** This rendition of the beloved campfire treat had plenty of potential but ultimately missed the mark. While the ice cream itself was smooth and velvety, the graham cracker flavor overshadowed the toasted marshmallow and chocolate notes. The chocolate-dipped waffle bowl added a crisp textural contrast and a subtle hint of chocolate, but it wasn't enough to make up for the otherwise one-dimensional flavor profile. While our experience was somewhat hit-or-miss, Handel's demonstrated why it has earned such a loyal following. With its extensive selection of flavors and substantial portions, we're excited to return and explore more of the menu.

Update: They're no longer affiliated with Fivestars!…read more I've since gone two additional times to try their waffle bites. My last trip was kind of spontaneous because I suddenly got a Fivestars reward that day for these waffle bites. However, when I arrived, I was looking for the Fivestars tablet only to be met by a Clover tablet instead. It felt like I went through a time warp because the employee working behind the register didn't seem to have any idea what I was trying to say regarding Fivestars, though he did notice a little trifold card on the front counter mentioning Fivestars. I asked if he could get his manager so I could explain, and even show, him my Fivestars reward. The reward said "already accepted", which he almost thought meant I had redeemed it already, but if that were the case, then it would have said "already redeemed". Given that they've now done away with Fivestars, I'm not too surprised he may have gotten the words "accepted" confused with "redeemed", but luckily, he was happy enough to honor it for me. The employee who assisted me was very helpful, though he did ask me to repeat the topping and the drizzle that I wanted. I chose the Strawberry Cheesecake flavor ice cream with Fruity Pebbles toppings and a Strawberry drizzle on top. Since I had already tried the cookie flavors before, I figured I'd try the fruity flavors this time around. He said he needed about 5 minutes to prepare my waffle bites, which were presented a little different than last time. Last time, I got the Cookie Butter flavor with *Cookie* Crisp and Peanut *Butter* (see what I did there?), and it came in a small plastic takeout container. This one came in a large plastic cup, and I'm thinking the logistics may have changed a ton between my last two visits. I did appreciate how the employee asked if I wanted the waffles on top of or beneath the ice cream before making the waffle bites; I chose on top. He also asked if I'd like powdered sugar on top, to which I agreed. Unfortunately, neither of the waffle bites I got from my last two visits impressed me that much. As a matter of fact, the only thing that impressed me was the strawberry drizzle. Everything else fell kind of flat. While generous in size for the $8 price tag, the Cookie Butter and the Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream didn't really taste like these flavors at all! For whatever reason, the peanut butter didn't add much flavor, but the strawberry drizzle added a lot! How even?! In short, the waffle bites weren't that much of an upgrade from the ice cream scoop that I had on my first visit. I'm willing to say "too much good was no good" here. The waffles themselves were good, but they can only do so much when a flavored ice cream doesn't even taste like that flavor. It's worth noting that on my penultimate visit, when I got the Cookie Butter Waffle Bites, I saw two employees behind the front counter who were ready to take my order. I asked them to explain what the waffle bites were, but it took them a couple of tries to actually understand what I was asking. From what I gathered, the waffle bites were similar to the ice cream scoop I had on my first visit, but with the addition of a warm waffle to supplement the ice cream. However, the step-by-step process remains the same. I was initially told it would take 6 minutes to prepare the Cookie Butter Waffle Bites, but it actually took 15! It seemed like one was training the other or they were trying to gather the ingredients and/or the steps needed to create the waffle bites. After about 10 minutes, I was told by one of the employees they had to make a new batch of waffles because the first batch had burnt. The music was getting pretty loud, so it was hard to hear him after that, but I didn't want to hold up the kitchen prep process any longer. I just said "Alright, sure" so he could continue preparing my order. I do appreciate how he let me know of this so that I'd know the reason for the extended wait, but I wish they weren't so ill-prepared during my visit. So overall, still 3 stars overall. I appreciate the prior partnership with Fivestars, but these missed opportunities have led me to believe that Cravings is just not for me. I doubt I'll try anything else on their ice cream menu, and considering that there are only a few parking spots in their lot, it will take a lot to get me to try their hot chicken. And speaking of lack of parking, I also want to mention that on my second visit, I saw two open parking stalls right in front of Cravings, one on either side of a car. That car had its driver's side wide open so that I couldn't park there. I had to park on the passenger side of that car, which he left much less room for. Perhaps a microcosm of the clientele in this part of town? Everybody deserves a second chance, right? Unfortunately, not everybody can make the most of them, and this is just one example of such. Thanks for the sweet treats Cravings, but I'll get my next one somewhere else.

They also have a good selection of merchandise and food options, plus a drive-thru, which I think is really convenient. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed in the coffee. It tasted very bland. I thought adding more sugar might help, but nope. I honestly think it just needed more cinnamon or a stronger overall flavor. Thankfully, it was only $3.80.
