That also means tasting some of the finest foods served by these restaurants. My favorite cake ever, was a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting made by the Pub Restaurant Group in the Pacific Northwest. They used toasted fresh ground spices, finely grated carrots, crushed pineapple, broken walnuts, brown sugar a little orange zest and oil instead of butter. It was always the most delicious, moist cake with flavor that lasted all night. So this Easter I ordered Carrot Cake from Pennington Cakes, was assured of the quality and ingredients used. Even assured of crushed pineapple for extra moistness. Placing the order I was convinced that the $55.00 was well spent. Well I hate to say the cake was a complete disaster. The cake was a stale fall apart dry crumbly mess with a non-cream cheese sweet gooey frosting. It was not edible. Thank God I made an Apple cake for non cream cheese lovers. It saved the day. When I called to discuss this with the owner, he nastily dismissed me as a second hand complainer with little knowledge compared to his many years in the baking business. I wonder how many different names and places he has used to stay in business this long. CROSS THIS PLACE OFF THE LIST AND NEVER COME BACK.
