I had an idea of what I'd be spending going in, and I was happy to leave under budget! I'd recommend Gerardo's and plan on returning there soon!

There is also flan and surprisingly empanadas and other savory bites. Sadly, they don't serve iced coffee. But they do have hot coffee, cappuccino, lattes. The bakery is also located at the edges of Hager Pond. I'm not drinking alcohol because I'm nursing my child, but the alcoholic drinks looked delicious. Since they had teas and nonalcoholic beverages - even asterisked to show which ones had caffeine - I was happy to order something, and I opted for their hot chocolate, the "Third Eye." I saw ingredients like cinnamon, cardamom, and coconut, and I was sold. Were there ingredients I didn't recognize? Yes. Did it say "medicinal hot chocolate"? Yes. Did I think anything of it? No. To me, ALL hot chocolates are medicinal. We all had our drinks and moved on to the next location. As we were walking, I felt...off, almost like I was drunk. By the time we sat down at the new spot, I said, "I feel like my head is expanding," like it was being pumped full of helium. "It's your third eye opening," someone said, I thought jokingly. "Ohhhhh yeah," said my birthday friend. "I forgot that when I went to the evergreen room when my wife was pregnant, there were a bunch of drinks they said she couldn't have because she was pregnant." Therefore, the bad: if there are ingredients that people don't know offhand are bad to consume while pregnant or nursing, they need to be indicated on the menu. If they can asterisk drinks with caffeine, they can denote this as well. I would not have ordered the hot chocolate had I known. The flavor was well balanced; it was subtly sweet, and not overwhelming in richness. The frosting is unique-It's closer to a whipped cream than traditional frosting--light, smooth, and creamy without being heavy (opposite of buttercream?). I usually throw away frosting altogether, but theirs was a perfect pairing with the cake. It's worth saying that as someone who's lactose-sensitive, I was impressed that it didn't upset my stomach at all. Overall, this cake was very much enjoyed by all and their cookie assortment is worth exploring too. I personally like the green and yellow cookies dipped in chocolate.

The cake was scheduled to be delivered at 12:00. I had to take time from my family to call and inquire about the delivery at 1:15. When the cake was cut it had obviously been frozen as the butter had seized and crumbled when cut. This beautifully decorated and tasty cake presented as a complete mess. When the bride and groom cut the cake, chunks of frosting fell away. Ruined our pictures completely. We won't look at those pictures and remember that the cake tasted good, but what a let-down you provided for us. I am incredibly frustrated and will never trust you to make a special occasion dessert for me again.
