I just went to the store, and a lady called Ivy. She did my nails and horrible job. I told her that I liked square round nails, not pointed ones, and she cut my originally square nails into pointed ones. I don't know if she didn't listen carefully or she just didn't care. Her work was very sloppy; he finished my nails in less than 30 minutes. The color she applied was uneven at first, and I had to ask her to apply another layer to make it slightly more even. She didn't apply the color all the way to the base, and her strokes were quite rough, making my nails look very small and different from my original shape. She also made the sides of my nails uneven. The nail technician was not friendly or professional, and I might have overlooked the attitude if the pedicure had at least been done well -- but unfortunately, the quality was terrible too. The polish application was messy, the finishing was sloppy, and overall it looked rushed and unprofessional. I left very disappointed and definitely will not be coming back.
May is the best! She is always so kind and gentle with me and understands the assignment every time. (I usually get a gel manicure) Random but I once fainted in the salon because I hadn't eaten and the entire staff went full mom on me and took care of me so well. Embarrassing for me but I'm so grateful for all of them. May was the one who did my nails that day and now remembers me and is extra considerate and careful when I come in.
I absolutely love Nova Nail Spa and won't go anywhere else. After numerous attempts of finding the perfect nail salon across San Diego County. I can officially say Nova is the best! All of the technicians are fantastic and detail oriented. Ivy did my first set (silver) and Ann did the green/blue glitter. They are fast, affordable and give great service. I'll be back time and time again! Thank you so much ladies! I always leave happy!
I've been hopping around to different salons for a pedicure when the troll toes get out of hand (it's a thing sorry). I popped around the corner for this spot and am glad I did. I luckily beat the Sunday rush so make an appointment. The value for service was great and I treated myself to a mani and pedi. My nail tech was even very kind in not judging the troll foot status, though she did emphasize her own routine of nighttime Vaseline lol my nails and toes came out beautifully and there were a lot of regulars. They even handled a mad rush super swiftly and well and got folks seated and massage chair-ing it up asap. As the Terminator would say, I'll be back!
Moved to the area and found Nova nails. I've been back a few times and will continue to be a regular! I have loved my nails every time I have gone and everyone is very nice and accommodating. These nails are by May! She's the best :)

I was going to nova nail spa for the past year and they had done a good job however, today I have decided that I don't think I will return as a customer unfortunately. They are very nice staff and the owner is very kind. I went in and it was very busy but they were nice enough to take me in right away. It was very busy, and unfortunately, my nail tech had rushed doing my nails. I just wanted a fill and to shorten the length which she was able to do however, in the process, she nicked my thumb and it started bleeding which was very painful. :( I also wanted to do cat eye because I usually like the way they do it here. However, in the photos the way that the cat eye was done is not even. I feel like the way that the sparkles sit on the nail is all at the bottom and looks ... off. Also, my nail tech chose the wrong color polish and started applying that to my nails and then had to take it off because she realized she was doing the wrong type of polish when the cateye was not working. Furthermore, I feel like my thumbnail is very thick and she did not even take the time to make sure that all the nails are even thickness. She was still filing my nails at the front desk when I was trying to pay... my nails also feel a little bit tacky, like the polish has not even hardened. Some polish had gotten on my finger and she was using the nail file to take off the polish which was extremely painful as well. I was just uncomfortable throughout the whole session unfortunately. I left the nail place with a bloody nail, tacky polish that was not fully dried, and crusty looking hands. I hope that no other customer has to go through this and maybe they were just really busy today.
My fiancee (now wife) made an appointment for 5 people to do Gelx full set with designs for our wedding. Kelly was very kind and asked her to send her bridal party's nail inspos to properly match up the nail techs with the design. On the day of the appointment, everyone was happy with how their nails turned out. While there were a few very minor issues in the manicure/nail application (some felt that they could have used a different nail size and one's cuticle started bleeding), the techs are amazing at doing designs. There was a wide variety of designs that the girls requested and they did a wonderful job. Kelly is also very accommodating. They were able to squeeze 3 of the girls in for additional pedicures and offered everyone beverages. Of course, since the pedicures weren't planned, they waited a bit to get seated but they waited at most 20 minutes. Overall, they had a great experience and were all obsessed with their nails.

Great customer service. Amazing quality, Lynn took her time and made sure my pedicure was perfect. I don't think I've ever had anyone be so attentive and pay attention to every little detail. I appreciate not trying to get persuaded to purchase other services. This is my second time here and I highly recommend this place. Quiet and peaceful. The chairs are very comfortable and it looks very clean and tidy which is huge. They have a lot of different colors and materials as well to try out. As soon as I sat down I was also asked if I would like something to drink. A lot of times other salons don't bother to check in with you. read more

I went in on a Tuesday for a manicure and pedicure, and the nail tech recommended a tap gel manicure (polygel?) that was supposed to be long-lasting and easy to maintain. However, just four days later, the product lifted/peeled off, and my natural nails were left damaged and short. When I returned on Monday to request a refund, I was met with rudeness by the only gentleman who works there. I explained that I didn't want any other services because my nails were wrecked, but the staff only offered me a gel color that didn't compare to the original service price of $106 plus a $20 tip ($38 for pedicure, so ~$70 for the manicure+gel). Of note, I was not expecting a full refund, but definitely a refund for my destroyed nails. Unfortunately, the gentleman I spoke with raised his voice and dismissed my concerns without letting me talk, insisting I calm down, despite my calm demeanor. The nail tech who did my nails was sweet and tried to advocate for me, but the man wouldn't listen. I've been a loyal customer, but this experience was disappointing and unprofessional. I won't be returning. I feel sorry for the employees and customers that have to deal with such a disrespectful manager. Tracey did my full set of acrylics and I love them! She really paid attention to detail on shaping and filed the back side of the nail to get the excess acrylic that gets thick. I find other salons normally leave it and it really bothers me so I love when places do this!! I will only be coming back here from now on. Everyone is soo friendly. Thank you so much! read more

They had a wide selection of appealing colors (the one in my pic fades between blue and purple and is simply stunning). The best nail salon in San Diego. My Mom and I have been coming here for years. I usually do top-gel nail manicures and regular pedicures - they are perfect every time. The entire staff is wonderful. They are all so friendly and loving, and also extremely skilled. They really take care of you here. Whatever you want, they can do! I'll keep coming back here forever. Been coming here for 2 years now.. I come in probably once every 6-8 weeks and every time I come in its always a great service and my nails aways come looking nice. I get a different person every time I come in to do my pedicure/manicure and every one of them always did an amazing job so I never have a preference. I always call ahead of time to make an appointment as they do get pretty busy. Bring cash with you so you can generously leave a tip read more

I've been to this salon a few times now and each time has been a delight. So far, every tech has been kind, friendly, and has done a really good job on my nails - both pedicures and gel manicures. I just finished my appt with a design. The tech (I'm kicking myself for not getting her name) took her time and when she asked for feedback on the shape or design, she took my feedback and did a great job getting my nails exactly how I wanted them. Definitely recommend this salon if you live in the area. There are other salons in San Diego, but I really don't want to drive far anymore. So it's great that I finally found a salon near me that I can trust. All of my gel manicures here have lasted over 3 weeks, some even 4. I've also switched from square with rounded edges to more of an almond shape and I feel that has helped with lasting longer. read more

For years this is definitely mine and my mom's go to place for our manicures and pedicures. Staff is always very friendly and helpful in a very relaxing setting. They all do exceptional work with great customer service. After having Tap Gel suggested it is definitely my go to. My manicure lasts 4-5 weeks easily, which I feel is amazing. read more
